When I returned home this morning from working out, I was tortured by the smell of my decadent brownies…that I will be sending to Lynn L.  along with the (2) retired Stamp Sets! Please email ASAP with your address as I would LOVE to get them in the mail so you get them before "Turkey Day"

Clean & Simple FTL132

Let's go…..This might be in the "running" for my card to send this year….it is me – clean and crisp….very easy….and uses minimal product but carries a big punch!

I am trying to showcase products that are on the "sale" this week and there are sooooo many embossing folders that are on sale for just a mere $5.00 (REMEMBER for TODAY ONLY)!

Jeanie has always told me that these gems are the BEST bang for your buck and she is totally right!

IMG_4454

I used my HANDS DOWN FAVORITE embossing folder, the Large Polka Dot Folder! WHY???? Polka Dots just make me smile and make me feel happy! I adore this color, Mossy Meadow and using just a bit was all that was needed!

IMG_4455

Let's talk about the "ornaments" – the circle framelits were the star but was the real SUPER star is the Magnetic Platform and you need to STOP right now and order this gem if you do not have it as it is truly a lifesaver & timesaver….so – THANK YOU Stampin' Up! for having this in the EXTRAVAGANZA!

IMG_4451

I love just using 2 colors as I think it makes a big impact! I have not used Very Vanilla lately and I love the way these 2 colors look together! The "ornaments" were from the "In Color" DSP paper stack and it was easy-peasy to add them behind the "ornaments"

IMG_4458

Have you wondered where the "natural" baker twine came from…..this is from the Gold Bakers Twine but I "pulled" out the gold and just made a simple bow from the twine! Using glue dots makes it a cinch!

IMG_4418

When John and I were driving for our Anniversary get away we talked about things that we need to get for Thanksgiving etc….and then when I was going over the menu I was thinking that I would change things up a bit this year with some new dishes…..Well that did not go over very well…..

So my question to you is….what is tradition to you in your family???…This is what our day looks like and I have it down to a science but I just thought I would change up the food a bit….help me…should I stick with Tradition or change things up?

  • I get up before everyone as I adore the early morning….I love to make sure that the dining table is "just right" and I place all of my goodies that I made at each place setting…
  • For Breakfast, we always have a BIG one….a yummy strada with turkey sausage and asparagus (if you want this AMAZING recipe, email me…it's a keeper), my homemade sticky buns and fresh fruit cocktail (a true labor of love but soooo worth it)
  • Turn the TV on and start cooking for the feast as I watch the Macy Day Parade
  • Now I get to sit and papercraft as I watch the Dog Show…..
  • Time to take a walk/bike ride on the C & O Canal…then I come home and if the weather is good – hop on a horse and ride – play with the dogs….
  • Football on….my time to keep cooking away….put out a bunch of "nibbles" for the family to "graze"….
  • Get ready for the feast – a highlight it to watch John make sure that the turkey is to his liking (he always does the turkey) and then he gives me an hour warning to get all of the others ready! (stand back when it is time for him to carve the Turkey…..he is a master at it!
  • THE FEAST…..we sit….eat…laugh….and then I usually drive my kids nuts asking a fun and different question each you to share what they are thankful for….
  • Time to take a deep breath and we always watch Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation and laugh until tears are rolling down our face….
  • Dessert…..YUMMY!!!! I always do a Carrot Cake and of course…. Pumpkin Pie
  • PLAY A GAME!!!! I love games but I have a hard time rounding up people to play with…..this is the time that I slowly start to see people leave to go to other areas of the house as no one likes to play Scrabble with me but I am sure this year they will!

Whew……sounds like a PERFECT day….right!?!? I just love Thanksgiving Day and I simply adore having the kids home…it is a casual day for us – filled with just being "thankful" for all that we have!

Now to today's post….Make it Mine Monday! I have some real die-hards that adore stamping on Mondays and trying a challenge I throw their way! Here is my take…..remember, you can switch up the shape, change the direction of the card….simply so whatever but here is the sketch for you to go from!

Screen shot 2014-11-02 at 2.35.14 PM

I hope that you can "carve out some time" today and try this sketch and have fun! If you wish to share with me your "picasso", please do so – I always adore seeing what you make as there is soooo much talent and it is super fun to see what you are up to!

IMG_4116

This is just too darn tootin' simple and you do not need me but I was determined to use a stamp set that I have not showcased for a while! Today's stamp sets are Mosaic Madness and And Many More!

I needed a Birthday Card for someone that adores purple and I thought that this would be fun…but of course …the stamp-a-ma-jig was a HUGE help for perfect placement and then the "pearls" – well, what more should I say but……after all, they are a girls best friend!

IMG_4123

I made the mailman smile with a stamp on the front, so easy and WHY NOT? Your stamps are already inked up!

I lined the outer part of the envelope with the Moonlight DSP and the funny thing is that this is not supposed to be the same color, but it works! Lesson learned….even if the colors are not exact…see if they work and go for it!

IMG_4117

I simply cannot thank you all enough for all of the feedback and inspiration over the past 3 days! I really found all of the answers to the questions very interesting and as I said above…..please pop back on Wednesday as I am going to have a fun post (hmmmmm……maybe more candy) about thoughts and comments I have for you!

Here we go for a GREAT WEEK…..I have some "keepers" for you this week…I know that you are going to like them!

On a personal note, please keep Hannah in your thoughts….can you believe that it has been 5 weeks since she has been in Africa and today she is leaving for Brazil….and also, my "peep" James (big peep = 6'5") is starting a new job today,

Until tomorrow!

Last Chance for Blog Candy…

Here is my thank you for the customers that are a part of the November Stamp of the Month Kit…more scoop further down!

IMG_4095

Happy Sunday! I hope that you are enjoying these past days of asking questions about our favorites with Stampin’ Up! and yesterday was the question of which adhesive is your choice of preference.

At the time of my posting this, I had 82 comments from my blog and email and it seems like there were so many liking both the snail and the mono “green glue” but the favorite was…(WOW – was it close)

THE GREEN GLUE

Now for my answer….I was a “True Blue” snail and sticky strip stamper but now I will say that I mainly use the “green glue” ….here are some thoughts about adhesives that I have….

  • The “green glue” does have a learning curve – what do I mean by that? LESS IS BEST! It is SUPER strong but also SUPER sticky and I find that when most people start to use it…they get frustrated because they simply use too much.
  • If I am working with white paper, I only run a thin bead of green glue around the edges as I have found if you “go crazy” and go to town all over the paper, it leaves a streak on the reverse side (the type A in me)
  • The “green glue” is soooo darn affordable! It is just $3.95!
  • I do LOVE our snail and I find it very useful and quick, but I will say that ever since I have used more “green glue” I have used less snail but I do love it.
  • If I am doing a 3 D project…I think that “Sticky Strip” is the only way to go…this is the best and here is a tip! Have you ever been frustrated with the red tape part sticky to you….if you have a damp paper towel by your work area and if you use the paper piece to take off the backing….simply touch it to the paper towel and presto – no more clinging to you hand!
  • The Fuse Fast…Well, I am not a fan. I think that I have not given it a fair chance and I know that I should be more patient as I know many do love it, I think that I have not mastered the “quick snap”!

Let’s move on to today’s question…this should get some great comments going! I hope that you are having as much fun as I am in reading your comments….we are one big group of stampers that love to help and give tips!

If ALL of our stamp sets came out in Photopolymer, Clear and Wood Mount…which would be your choice?

Please leave me a comment and you will get your 3rd chance to win the Blog Candy of 12 Handmade Cards and Envelopes from me! I will announce the lucky winner on tomorrows post!

IMG_4089

Here are some more pictures of the “Thank You” that I am sending to the stampers that take advantage of the November Stamp of the Month Club. Please click here to see the post and scoop on it!

November 10th is the cut off for joining the fun for the kit! Please feel free to email me if you have any questions but if you do want a kit – email  me and put in the subject line: NOVEMBER STAMP OF THE MONTH KIT…and please leave me your address.

IMG_4093

I am very pleased with how I worked the cards this month as I realize that this is a rather small (in size) group of stamps so I thought it would be a great treat for you to get a simple 3-D project filled with the (3)   3 X 3 gift cards and envelopes!

With this kit this month…I used 11 out of the 13 stamps…woot-woot….I love to challenge myself on figuring out how I can maximize a Stamp Set and I think that this kit makes this stamp set shine! It truly is a great stamp set!

136562G

This adorable box only uses a ½ of a sheet of paper and I will include the “how to make” with the kit! You could probably easily add a couple more cards, I thought that this would be a great way to “Thank You” for getting the kit!

Fun, festive and easy to do and these make a great gift for all occasions and something that everyone enjoys.

That’s it my friends…..please feel free to email me if you need to. I will be coming home later today so I will get back to you!

Thanks for sharing your comments, suggestions and inspirations with each other for the blog candy….Until tomorrow!

P.S.. – The results for the adhesives were….

Green Glue – 41

Snail – 38

Fuse – 3

BOO and Blog Candy Time!!!

Happy Halloween…now tell me, what would Halloween be

without some "Blog Candy"

for my dear and wonderful cyber friends!

Images

I am excited about this card as it is something that I have been "itchin" to do….have you ever seen a card that someone made and you could not get it out of your mind? Well…this is what has inspired me today!

You have heard me talk about the fabluous PALS all the time and PAL Linda Callahan made the below card and I just adored it (actually I adore Linda's work…one talented lady!) and I could not let the Halloween season go past without giving it a stamp!

IMG_0009

Well here is my take on it and I just adore this super fun stamp set – appropriately called Tee-Hee-Hee!

IMG_4047

Another quick and easy card that carries a big punch! I just let the boldness of the paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Pack be my backdrop for the fun! I just love these packs of paper….so handy….so affordable!

IMG_4053

Because you can see right thru these stamps….perfect placemet is a cinch everytime! I took Linda's lead and used the in colors of Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss and Tangelo Twist!

IMG_4056

Do you see the Hello Honey accents on the sides of the stamping? This is a quick and easy trick to do….just a simple 1/4" strip of paper added an extra pop of color and gave balance!

IMG_4057

Lastly, a quick liner to the back flap of the envelope finished this festive card! I adore mixing it up with liners to the outside and also to the inside using the envelope framelit! Mixing it up keeps things fresh and fun!

IMG_4049

NOW TO THE BLOG CANDY…your chance to win 12 cards…

IMG_4069

IMG_4063

I am going away this weekend so you will have (3) chances to win this blog candy of 12 handmade cards and envelopes from me….what do YOU need to do?

Easy-peasy…leave me a comment each day and you will have a better chance to win!

On Monday morning I will announce the winner…

Today…leave me a comment on which is your favorite "In Color"…Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss, Tangelo Twist or Hello Honey!?!?!?

I have my favorite but I must admit…when they 1st came out – it was a different one!

Even though I am away, I do have internet so please remember that today is the last day to  earn a pack of free DSP for the next 6 months with taking a test drive with stampin' up!…the PALS…and me! Please email me and I will be in touch!

Please pop back tomorrow as I will be unveiling the Stamp of the Month Club for November! I will say…..I was dancing around my work area with the cards this month! I think that you are going to love it but I can only make so many kits….so please  – if you want to get in on the fun…..please do not wait!

Tomorrow and I will have another question for you to comment on….the more you leave a comment – the greater your chances are to win!

Enjoy the day and until tomorrow…BOO and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Not too scary!

IMG_3418

Before we get to today's post I have to say a HUGE thank you for the smiles you gave to me with your 53 comments from yesterday's post! John and I went to a great restaurant for dinner last night in the cutest little town about 30 minutes away so as he drove I had my I-pod and read them so we both could enjoy!

It is soooooo very clear to me that we all have the same feeling and passion! I love to create and play in my Craft area…but I adore sending cards and knowing that I brought a smile to someone! Thank you…thank you for sharing what card making means to you!

To me it is a simple pleasure that means so much…

Please know that it DOES make a difference not only to YOU

but to the people you send a card to!

The winner is #24 Brenda B….. and here is her comment! (I had to do it in PINK for the Breast Cancer event today)

Screen shot 2014-10-04 at 10.56.44 PM

Woot-Woot to you Brenda and many thanks for the super sweet comment! Please email me and your address and I will send your goodies your way!

Happy World Card Making Day! I am so happy to have found this hobby and thoroughly enjoy making cards for friends and family. You are such an inspiration Susan and I so look forward to your postings and updates on what you are doing. Happy day to you!

O.k. – to the card for the day! I adore this stamp set, Mingle all the Way. I realize that many people love to celebrate Halloween and then there are others that do not care for the scary part of it…I think that this card is a fun and classic card!

135773G

I have great memories of Trick-n-Treat but I will say that my costumes were always handmade and simple…like a pumpkin, a Base Ball Player etc….I am amazed at how the retail stores put such a huge emphasis on October 31st!

IMG_3415

This card layout is very simple and it could easily be used for other clean and simple cards! Just simply change up the sentiment and the color of paper and BAM – a whole new card! True I have used a bunch of paper today and if you follow my blog you already know that I adore paper!

To me, paper can do so much and be so effective in making a clean and simple card! Remember to utilize the paper that you are covering with another layer! This is a perfect time to use your punched…framelits etc…to use for future cards!

Here are the measurements for all of the layers that are going on today! I know that you enjoy it when I give you the measurements!

  • The base is a good old A-2 card and the black layer is just 1/4 smaller – 5 1/4" X 4" (remember cut the black piece as it will be covered up) and add the next layer in whisper white which is  1/4" smaller 5" X 3 3/4"

IMG_3424

  • The Tangerine Tango is 3 1/2 X 4 3/4" and then the Designer Series Paper from the Motley Monster DSP and it is 3 3/8" X 4 5/8"…. Take this piece to your Big Shot and Place the #4 square framelit and cut the square out!

TIP – do not adhere it yet…I like to take it over top of the base piece and take a pencil to draw a line where the square is and then stamp it…So much easier!

IMG_3421

  • Erase your pencil lines and now you can adhere it to the base. (I was going to put stampin' dimensionals under the orange piece but I decided against it and I really like the look!
  • I made the back square border with framefilt #4 & #5 as I thought this element would add a great contast and a quick dash of dots did the trick!
  • Last but not least…the envelope! I had some fun as I lined the outer flap and then while I had my big shot and sentiment all "onky" – I decided to jazz up the back!

IMG_3420

TIP – I have shared this with you before and I will say that I do ask the people that I send cards to if they can through the mail o.k. – like this card…take it to the counter of the post office and ask them to "hand stamp" it….this way it will not go through the machine and I find that using the tombow liquid glue is the best!!!

IMG_3419

I hope that this clean and simple card brought a smile to you this morning! Again, a heartfelt thanks to all of you for sharing with me what card making means to you…I think it's clear to say that we all are going to keep doing what we do as it brings joy to us!

Have a wonderful day and make it special! Another woot-woot to Brenda for winning the Blog Candy! There will be more blog candy posts in the future….after all it's October….we need to treat -n-treat together!

Until tomorrow….
