Simple, sweet, clean and crisp! This is my kinda card and I am super excited to share with you this week some of the cards that I will be making for Breast Cancer Patients in my area to pick them up and let them know others care! It is called the "Angel Program", more specifically a program that sends cards and inspirational notes on a weekly basis to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients!
This Wednesday is my first day and I will be making 15 cards of 6 different designs and today's post is one of them! I know 1st hand how important, special, a HUGE pick me up cards mean to people when they are ill.
I lost my Mom to pancreatic cancer and her 4 shorts months of being the Mom and knew and loved, to losing her to this terrible disease I witnessed 1st hand how simple gestures like sending a card makes such a difference! Over this short time frame she received over 400 cards…she loved her cards and I still have them in my home in a special bowl and often I go and read them to give me inspiration! This is a huge reason I am a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. I knew that I wanted to give back…and I am excited to do so for our local Breast Cancer Organization!
Now to today's card…isn't it clean and cute! This butterfly stamp set, Papillion Potpourri, has been sooooo popular with Stampin up! I thought this would be a fun pick-me-up and the Curly Cute sentiments is super fun….getting the perfect alignment was made perfect by my dear friend, Stamp-a-ma-jig…just love that plastic!

I stamped the butterfly's one Very Vanilla and the popped them out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch ! I used the 1 1/4" Square Punch to use as a backdrop to my butterfly's and then adhered them to the coordinating paper using the Scallop Square Punch! Naturally I popped them up with a couple of Stampin' Vitamin, Stampin' Dimensionals!
The Raspberry Ripple Stitched Satin Ribbon gave the card a bit of interest as well as the famous knot – adhered with a simple glue dot…really brings the WOW factor to life! It would be a card of mine without lining the envelope – polka dots make me smile and I know that my Mom is smiling…as she loved lined cards and I know that these beautiful and courageous patients will smile with an "Angel" sending them a card with a special message!
I love and appreciate your comments and emails…until tomorrow – make it a great week! I love what I do but more importantly…I love helping you!

by Susan Itell | Mar 31, 2013 | Easter, Stamp-a-ma-jig |

Happy Easter to all! Have you ever started a project to have it not work out the way you wanted it to…but then you looked at it and said to yourself – " it's really not that bad and what could I do to tweek it ?" Well this is what happened to me with this card and I must say – I think it's kinda fun!
The stamps sets that I used were the Spring Sampler and the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set! I knew that I had to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig as this would be only way that I could get my eggs straight! Who would have ever thought that these 2 simple pieces of plastic would ever be the lifesaver it is in making cards – definitely an "A list" product!

I love this Spring Sampler set…it is so versatile and I love using simple and clean shapes like a square punch – and these stamps are the perfect options for making quick and easy projects! After I stamped the eggs I thought it would be a cute touch to work the words of "happy easter" in between the rows! Mission accomplished with the help of the Stamp-a-ma-jig once again!

After doing this…I looked at it and saw way too many white spots for my liking! Out came some ribbon, the new melon mambo striped organdy ribbon to do my classic and trademark knots ( remember – I am bow challenged and I actually like the looks of knots!!!) I attached the knots with a simple glue dot and BAM – done!

I loved the look, feel and effect it gave to the card! For some reason it reminds me of a madras pattern! The liner also is a trump card for the finale of this card! This fun print was from Sunshine and Sprinkles Designer Series Paper! After adding the body of the card on top of a piece of Melon Mambo to make it pop off of the white…. I POPPED it with Stampin Dimensionals! I call them my card making vitamins!
I hope you have enjoyed today's posting on this special day of Easter! Have a fabulous day and as always….I am an email away and I love your comments! Thank you…..
Today is also the last day to take advantage of the incredible deal of getting the $156.50 of Stampin' Up products for just $99.00! It is PALS Paper Art Challenge time and I am sneaking it in by the wire! I am happy with the end result and I must say – I love these single stamps that Stampin' Up! has been offering (fingers crossed that they will keep on doing them!!!
Here is the challenge that our own PALS Artist and Demonstrator, Margaret Moody, came up with! Please go to the website and play along with us! It is fun and lets you step out of your box and this is what I did! Here is the sketch!

The single stamp that is the center stage is the fun, fresh and ultra retro stamp of Spec-Tacular! It holds a special wow for me as I love Ray-Bans…good old' fashion classics!

Remember that I am "new to this Stampin' Up game" and I am just following the rules ( guidelines as sampled) and being a "good girl" I looked at the sketch and just "went with it!" Give me a couple of more months and I will step out of the box and be more creative!

I made this card a strange size…..why? – I guess it just like I like to change things up a bit but have no worries….being able to make your own envelope is easy-peasy and a fellow PAL, Mike Funke has the PERFECT video that I go to weekly! He is one talented man that I absolutely love to follow! What an inspiration! Please go and check it out!

A big helper again for me was the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig , my friend and lifesaver! It helped me place exactly where I wanted my sentiment from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set. I this another on my "A list" – just love the simplicity of the sentiments!
The colors that brought this fun card to life were, Whisper White, Basic Grey, Black, Island Indigo, and the Neutrals Designer Series paper for both the card and the liner! Can you see is bit of sponging? Yep – I took the later of whisper white and ever so softly sponged the edges with the basic grey to give it a bit of depth!

I am enjoying and finding it fun to do challenges and I hope that you fin this card fun! My dear hubby said….who would you say this to…I immediately thought of a dear friend of my daughters that is biting her nails waiting to hear back from colleges….I would easily send this to her letting her know what a special person she is…..and she is!!!! Let your mind go "out of the box" – just like I did today!
Until tomorrow…..I am an email away and I hope that you have a super-duper day…I'm going to!

by Susan Itell | Mar 20, 2013 | Birthday, Stamp-a-ma-jig |

"Henry" is tooting his horn 'cause it is my Grandsons 3rd Birthday! Happy special birthday Liam!!! Unfortunately little Liam lives way far away so anytime with him brings John and I smiles!
This card is a bit "out of the box" for me cause when I need to watch and re-watch videos I get a bit nervous as remember….I am simple…clean and use lots of paper! When you start breaking out things that plug in – I get a bit overwhelmed but this was SUPER easy….SUPER fun and SUPER cute!
My inspiration came from a fellow Pal Liz Hughes, from "Cardiology Ink" ( Isn't that the cutest name)…and I watched her video and thought – "I can do this!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq3iHfehDHc
This is a standard A-2 card with the Marina Mist as my card stock! Cutting the Basic Black just 1/4" smaller, I took Liz's advice and used the Stampin' Up Watercolor Pencils to draw my borders…it really – really looks like chalk! Using the grid paper made it super easy to whip those lines with your ruler!
The Embossing Buddy is a must to get the clean and crisp look when you emboss! This little gem takes all of the static and dust off of your paper to make your stamped image covering clearly! When doing this method you use the VersaMark Pad and then set it with the Heat Tool!
Now to get dear Henry tooting his Happy Birthday Horn in the perfect place…I once again took Liz's advice and first stamped the image on a piece of vellum….embossed it so I could see it – then placed it exactly where I wanted to to go!!! Once again, that little Stamp-a-ma-jig is my go-to lifesaver! Personalizing Liam's Card…I used the NEW Photopolymer Stamp Set ( still trying to figure this one out but I think once I master it – it will be super fun!)

Now for the fun banner up top! I cut 2 snips in ( thanks to Liz's tip) to anchor my bakers twine! Out came my main man….Mr. Big Shot, poor guy – he gets dragged around all over the place! Using the Hearts a Flutter Framelits I cut out my banners to give this car the pizzazz it deserves! Doesn't this just make it!
To give the "chalkboard" effect….I did use the White Craft Pad Ink along with a sponge dauber, I first dappled it off on a scrap piece of paper then to my card….getting the effect I wanted! I then lightly went over Henry using the Water Color Pencils to color him lightly in blue!
Naturally I POPPED them up with Stampin' Dimensionals and then added an adorable button to give it that special touch for this special little guy! For my "trademark" I lined the envelope with the cheery Polka Dot Parade Paper! Too fun and cute!

Until tomorrow….I am a click away or you can shop away with this click! Have a super-duper day and dear little Liam…many more fabulous Birthdays ahead! xoxoxox

Clean + Crisp = One Cute Card!
I know…..I know….who WON the BLOG CANDY from my 50th post!!!! I promised you that I would tell you this morning…but 1st – lets look at today's card!!!! ( ha-ha!!!!)
I just think the Elephant is sooooo darn cute! Last night when I was looking through my designer paper I came across this Elephant paper from the World Spectacular Designer Series Paper and I thought …now this could be super cute for a masculine card or also used with the Sale-A-Bration Patterned Occasions Stamp Set!
I wanted to showcase this little guy and I knew if I did them in a row – I would need the Stamp-a-ma-jig (I know…I can see the majority of you now saying….I do not know how to use this thing)…well – again, if I can do it – YOU can do it! The best advice I give you is practice – practice – practice! Within a matter of minutes you will say – this was easy!!!

A couple of tricks here….First I used the grid paper that we sell ( again, on my A list) as it makes lining up projects…jotting notes about the project you are working on so easy! I drew a line with pencil 1/2" up as my guide! I then stamped an image with the Stamp-A-ma-Jig to get the right spot! Next, I masked the sentiment and the flower with a piece of sticky note and then inked up the Elephant stamp up with Black Staz-On Ink…peeled off the sticky notes and stamped away! Perfect…right!

Now to add a bit of fun I pulled out the Dotted Scallop Border Punch and punched away – Just LOVE the effect it gives! Another "A list" tool that is just an absolute must is the Stampin' Trimmer – it is the ONLY way that I could have made just a sliver to on top of the Scalloped Punch!
Where did the "hearts" come from – the Owl Builder Punch! ( Personally I have never been a huge fan of Owls but I will say this punch is incredible with all of the different things you can make out of it!!!) I did the same technique with the sentiment on masking and then POPPED it out with the Window Word Punch…too easy again!
Now a couple of ?'s you might be asking yourself….
- How did she get that teeny tiny strip of So Saffron on the border = Tombo Multi Purpose Liquid Glue! This is my new "go to" adhesive for several reasons…..it is super inexpensive ( $3.95) and it is super strong!
- What color of paper is this card = Sahara Sand! This is the 1st time I have used it as a base of a card and I LOVE it! To me it complimented the liner of my envelope! Speaking of envelopes – we do not have Sahara Sand envelopes….sooooo darn easy – just make one yourself! Presto!!!
- A ? I get asked all the time…..how do I seal my envelopes as I always line them = 2-Way Glue Pen…BINGO-BANGO…..I probably have 6 of them floating around the house as it is so easy to use and it really seals them tight and for $3.50….how can you go wrong!!!
- Remember, I am a click away for you to order your products and have them delivered right to your door!It simply could not get easier than that! As always, please fee free to email me anytime!
-

NOW FOR THE WINNER……My Dear husband John picked it …..and he picked #33! When I asked him WHY? – the Accountant in him came out….
3 (March)+ 17 (St. Patrick's Day) + 13 (for 2013) = 33
...and the lucky winner is…..Debbie
Here is the wonderful comment she posted:
Thank you for sharing. You've encouraged me to look at the chipboard
& Bigz alphabet. I would love to see a video or step-by-step
instructions of how this was done. Did every letter of the alphabet set
get cut out, then you chose the letters you needed?
Thanks, Debbie
Answer to Debbie's question – No…I simply cut 2" X 2" pieces of the chip board and then just ran through the letters I needed to spell L U C K Y! Super easy and no waste!
I truly appreciated each and every comments! Thanks for taking the time to read my Blog!
p.s. – One of my next "to-do's" is to do some video's…just need my kids to come home from college to help me get going!!!!

by Susan Itell | Mar 16, 2013 | Congratulations, Stamp-a-ma-jig

WOW…it has been a L O N G week ( but great week!) and I was ready to wake up and create! Yesterday was exciting as Stampin' Up! gave us a sneak peak at a product from the new catalog that will be out before you know it! WOOT-WOOT!!!! So….I decided that I wanted to use the 7/8 Scallop Circle Punch to showcase this card so you can get the idea of how this new Stamp Set, A Round Array Stamp Set will look!
I think this card is adorable and I did get my inspiration from the Annual Catalog on page 142 – then gave it a Susan twist! I will do a post next week on some of the tricks in making this card because it was actually super easy and the end result came out Bingo-bango!!! The Stamp-a-ma-jig played a key factor! If you were like me…you were SCARED TO DEATH of this tool…but trust me – it I can do it YOU can do it! It will become your best friend very quickly!

The Sentiment came from a "A list" Stamp Set, Sassy Salutations and I think the fun tone it sets makes this card! I also used the #1 adorable stamp from the Ciao, Baby! Stamp Set…this is where the 7/8 punch comes in handy and makes you look like a pro! Now you can see just why you need to buy the new stamp set that is below!!!! Click here to order it today and you will be one up on the new catalog!

I just had to use a touch of ribbon and the So Saffron Taffeta Ribbon was the perfect choice! Doesn't this color make you happy…another thing that I adore about this ribbon is that it is super easy to work with – make a perfect knot that is a great simple statement each and every time!
