A Wagon of thanks!

IMG_2891
Have you ever been treated to a time that you walk away and say….wow – that was fun! Well this was me yesterday when a friend invited me to lunch and I felt like a queen! As I walked into her beautiful home and saw this incredible setting for the 2 of us to "catch up"…"share some laughs" and just plain catch up while I slipped out of work for lunch!

This card makes me smile as it makes me feel special when I use the Aqua Painters. They truly are one of my favorite and relaxing thing to do with my cards….and while I am not the best at it…I find it rewarding! I am determined to be a "water color wonder" one day!

The Stamp sets that I used was  "For the Birds"…I love that darn cute wagon and I "masked off" the sentiment as I was just looking for the wagon image!Whenever you use the Aqua Painters, I highly suggest that you always use the watercolor paper to keep you finished work nice and flat!

IMG_2892

Also, always use the Black Staz On Ink….this way when you "watercolor" it will not run! You can always go back and add highlights to your work…( this is a technique that I need to work harder on) but with time….you do become better!

I really wanted to focus on the "thank you" part and I really had a blast and want the message to get across!!! The sentiment came from the Lots of Thanks Stamp Set and I found the center of the paper…stamped with the help of the Stamp-a-ma-jig to get it…"just right"!!!

Lots of Thanks

Polka Dots to me are like seeing balloons – they make me smile and make me happy!  As I used the Old Olive in my water coloring….and the color for the thank you's…I thought that this would be perfect….and it is – LOVE IT! This came form the Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper!

IMG_2748

Today is the last day of me personal challenge I gave myself using the Oh, Hello & Mixed Bunch Stamp Sets! I am calling it a F F F ChallengeFUN…FUNCTIONAL…and FEMININE! Today is…the FUN one and I think it is SUPER FUN!

I just LOVE bright and cheery colors and I think that this represents it well! This style of card is called the "Gate Fold Card" and it is super easy to make and a fun way to switch up a regular A-2 card size!

IMG_2739

The 2 key things you need are 12 X 12 paper and a Stamp-a-ma-jig! Now I know that this is NOT the 1st time you have heard me say this….but Stampin' Up! does make select paper colors in the 12 X 12 size and trust me…you will use it for certain projects you work on! This card is a prime example…and now to the Stamp-a-ma-jig….you know that there would be NO way I could have made this card without it!

IMG_2744

To make the card base…the dimensions are 12" X 5 1/2 inches and then using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool – score at 2",4",8" and 10" – THAT'S IT! Fold the score lines in and use the Bone Folder…this makes your edges always so crisp!

Next – cut 4 white panels at 1 7/8" X 5 3/8"! Now remember yesterday I shared with you the WOW factor that a simple ruler can give you…well this is my secret and I HOLD TRUE TO IT!

  • Mark the center of these panels
  • Mark a 1/4" on each end!
  • Stamp the center 1st in Pacific Point and then using the stamp-a-ma-jig I worked on either side! It really is easy and it goes fast!
  • TIP  – anchor your strip to your work surface – there is nothing more frustrating that your paper "wiggling" just when you go to stamp it!!!

I simple "snailed" these super cute pieces to the panels and then the inside panel of the card is 5 3/8" X 3 7/8" for the Blue and the White is 5 1/8" X 3 5/8".

IMG_2740

Still having part of the 12 X 12 Daffodil Delight Paper left…I cut a strip at 3/4" wide and just wrapped it around the card….then used the bone folder to "crisp" it….snipped off the excess after I used the snail to make a "belly band" – easy-peasey!

Now you can see how I utilized the Oh, Hello Stamp Set…now
it’s time to let the “Mixed Bunch” have it’s turn….TIP – make sure you "scruff" up the stamps that have a big "space" to let the ink soak in to make a clear image!

After I stamped the flower in Melon Mambo I popped it out using the Blossom Punch! Cute…right!?!? Using the circle stamp in daffodil delight, I punched that out with the 3/4" circle punch…added some Stampin Dimensionals and again, BAM!

The sentiment did come from another set…the One in a Million Stamp Set, but do you notice I just have a portion of the sentiment? I did that by "masking" the part I did not want…inking it up…then peeling off the "mask" and stamped just the sentiment! Again, easy and effective!

IMG_2742

Now to the envelope….I loved it with one of the new designer series papers, Gingham Garden, and after I did it (and I loved it) I went back to write all of the products I use with their numbers to blog for you and I saw that the blue is Island Indigo NOT what I am using in the card…Pacific Point is the color of my card…but it looks just fine….no worries!

IMG_2750

Oh, Hello & Mixed Bunch…#2 (feminine)…too pretty!

IMG_2731

Good Morning…and let's all have a great week! This is the 2nd of 3 posts using a mixture of the

Oh, Hello Stamp Set and the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set! I want to show you how you can utilize different stamp set to create beautiful cards with total different looks! Today is a feminine feel!

I am being "Super Mom" to one of my wonderful children as he came to me yesterday and said…

"Mom, can you come with me to Raleigh…I would like your advice on an apartment?"

…now how can I say no…it's a good thing I only work 1/2 days on Mondays so I was able to go in yesterday to get my hours in! I love the fact that my 22 year old still wants his Mom's input!

Now to today's post…to start off – find a ruler – I ALWAYS have one handy whenever I work as it is a simple tool like this that relieves stress…let me explain – when I went to stamp the images around the sides of the card base…I 1st took the ruler and drew a line in the middle on both directions!

Doing this made it  a cinch to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig and get my placement just perfect! This is a tool that is soooo intimidating – but you really, really need to practice and learn that when you cannot find it – you totally go into a panic…I would not know how to make cards without it!

After stamping this using a tone on tone image from the Mixed Bunch Stamp Set,  I "sandwiched" the flowers in again using the stamp-a-ma-jig…this time instead of Stamping them with one color…I used the markers in Always Artichoke and Elegant Eggplant…gave them a "huff" and stamped the image in the 4 corners!

I then stamped 4 more of these flowers gems from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set and cut them out using the paper snips…the only scissors to use for tiny areas! These I will tuck around the sentiment area that will give it a bit of depth using some pieces of stampin' dimensionals…

IMG_2735

Now to the sentiment….this piece is 1 1/2" X 2 1/4" and then I used the corner rounder to soften the edges and also did the same with the purple matted! I POPPED the sentiment so when I tucked the flowers in I was able to let them be 3-D.

The finale was using the Always Artichoke and the Scallop Trim Border Punch to create a special feminine touch! When you do this…no need to waste paper…use punch the trim border out…cut say…an 1 1'2" and then use the snail to add it to the base!

IMG_2734

DONE! Not to bad…right? I used sticky strip to adhere the base portion to the card…why use sticky strip? I feel with all of the layers I have, I want the strongest hold so my card looks as professional as possible!

Had to do something to my envelope as it would not be a "Susan" card without a liner….using the designer series paper in the Elegant Eggplant tones did the trick ( I cannot wait to see the NEW designer series papers) I know…Tuesday will be here soon!

IMG_2736

Well…I would say that this is one beautiful card that anyone would love to receive! It actually was fun to do and when I sat down to make a "feminine" card today I had no idea where to go…I just kept "evolving" and I like the end result!

Tomorrow is a "FUN" version on my personal challenge of FFF Oh, Hello and Mixed Bunch Stamp Sets…(Functional, Feminine and FUN)

IMG_2657

It's the weekend!!! YEAH…and again another busy one for my family! My godson is graduating from High School tomorrow and it will be a special day filled with many friends and family!

The summer always seems to bring out fun celebrations! With them…we all could use a stash of fun and quick "thank you's" and it doesn't get any cleaner and simpler than this!

I know that yesterday the "cyber-waves" were in full hurricane force with the ordering of the new catalog! Stampin' Up! does an amazing job! On Thursday I called the main office for a simple question and they said…"we can't wait for tomorrow…the buzz on order day is exhilarating"…That just made my evening…I just always love and appreciate the positiveness of the home office!

Here you go…I hope this shows you that…less is best many times – so simple!

  • Base is Whisper White and the colors I chose were from the designer paper, Quatrefancy Specialty Paper – Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Pool Party, Strawberry Slush, Island Indigo…
  • I always use a ruler and a faint pencil line that I erase after I am finish stamping…this was soooo easy – the Mosaic Madness Stamp Set was the simple stamp I used – so simple!
  • The Stamp-a-ma-Jig is a MUST and if you are still not using this wonderful tool ALL THE TIME…email me and I will be happy to help you…it is my lifesaver!
  • The sentiment came from the One in a Million Stamp Set and I masked part of the sentiment just to get the part I wanted!
  • Using the Itty Bitty Punch this was a simple yet effective touch to the centers and then the finishing touch was a simple pearl in the middle – adhered with a mini glue dot!
    IMG_2652
  • The liner is the POP factor of a FUN COLOR BURST and the Quatrefancy Paper Pack is a simple must have…so clean and crisp!

IMG_2654

This stamp set that I used today is one that I would definitely consider to be on a "A List" to have…the ideas and uses are endless…I look forward to playing around with it a bunch!

Remember….if you want to see the retired stamps sets I am selling….please shoot me an email and simply put in the subject line "Stamps for Sale" and on Tuesday , June 4th I will post the stamps that will be parting ways with….

I have been "grouping" the emails I have already received….so please do not think  I forgot you!

Please have fun looking at the new catalog and let your imagination go wild! As always, I am an email away and love hearing your ideas and comments!

Until tomorrow…

A BIG thanks from my 4-legged friends….

O.k. – We are home from a fabulous 4 days away being with family and friend celebrating my son's graduation from college….well….let me tell you – going away is no easy feat for us as we are the proud Mom's and Dad's to 5 dogs and 1 dear pig….3 horses and 1 mini donkey!

Take that all in and you can see that it is not easy going away! Today's post might not relate to a bunch of you….but I hope that you can  – "feel" the love for the wonderful "sitter" of our "indoor" friends while we were gone!

Sherry was a true sport…as this was the 1st of her being with our little friends! Having someone around was wonderful and not only were they great…we had a fabulous time not worrying one bit!

My children….Murphy, Eddie, Jack, Charlie, Jack, Norman and precious Daisy-Mae…had soooo much fun with Sherry and they are giving her this special card and fresh cookies! ( what a way to one's heart….hopefully she'll come back!!!!)

Here you go, again – I know that this might not relate to many of you…but the materials used for this card are total keepers and soooooo much fun to work with – "think out of the box!!!!"

IMG_2635

  • The base of this card is in my "go to" Crumb Cake cut into a 8 1/2" square scored at 4 1/4"
  • The "bones" were a cinch to make, using the soft suede paper cut into 1/4" X 1 3/4" strips with the help of a small heart punch on the ends made it happen!!!
  • Adding a couple of "hearts" and sponging the edges with the soft suede added a bit of fun!

I hope that you found this post fun…and I hope you enjoy meeting "my other children"!!!! Please let me know your thoughts and who touches your "heart"

Until tomorrow!!!…..enjoy the pictures!

  • Whisper White A-2 card base.
  • Wisteria Wonder cut to 4' X 5 1/4"
  • Whisper White cut to 3 1/4" X 5" , before I stamp – I do put this on a sheet of copy paper just so when  I stamp off the edge…it won't mess up my work area! again, the stamp set is Stippled Blossoms!
  • The colors of ink I used were Wild Wasabi, Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder. Stamp the flower – Lighter color 1st (WW) and then use the other stamp in the (EE)
  • Before adhering this to the white base, I put a strip of Sticky Tape down the middle of the 5/8" Organza Ribbon – I know…not necessary but I hate to see ribbon wiggle!
  • Back up…before I cut the white one out – I used the sentiment from the Curly Cute Stamp Set in Wisteria Wonder! I also added 2 regal brads for a bit of bling!

IMG_2363

IMG_2362

That's it! Now that wasn't hard was it! Please try this…it truly is a beautiful card and it would make a great birthday…thinking of you…sympathy….theme of a card!Email me your thoughts!

You all know that I simply adore the Designer Series Paper…well – in the new catalog…there are new prints within each color family as they currently have it…I would definitely put this on my wish list. I ALWAYS find these papers to be my regular"go to" to make a card go from o.k. to WOW!!!

I now that we all go through "waves" of making different types of cards…I have been using the Big Shot a bunch lately and I have been having fun!

Did you just see the word FUN??? Well I have learned in life if you are not having FUN, than you should re-evaluate what you are doing….well… I am here to tell you that I am having FUN each and everyday inspiring and creating for you!

I do admit it is a lot of work and a big time commitment …but the outcome is sooo well worth it! I thank you for being such great customers, great inspirational supporters and friends! Have a great day and I hope you like waking up to my inspirations each morning!
