by Susan Itell | Jun 21, 2017 | Thinking of you, Washi Tape Card Ideas |

Here is a super sweet card for your Hump Day! Let’s face it… there are times that we need a “Pick Me Up Card” and WOW – this stamp set will sure bring a smile to anyones day!
Here you go….confessions of an honest Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator….I have totally overlooked this stamp set and framelits….until the new catalog came out.
It is from the Weather Together Stamp Set. The tipping point to change my thought process on this goodie was the amazing sample that is in the catalog…flip to page 93!

One my “eye was caught” I took a harder look at this set to see if I thought that it needed to come to Randall Lane. Naturally you can see that it did….but here were my selling points. (I totally think that you should take a good look at the products you purchase and figure out how many times/occasions that you could use it)
- It is a Photoploymer Stamp
- It has matching Framelits
- The font is FUN and the sentiments are UNIQUE
- There are lots of practical little images that would be great “fillers” for other cards
- Perfect for a pick me up card…a baby/bridal shower….a simple just because!
These are things that I do ask myself before I hit that button. Even though I am a Demonstrator…and I do get this at an instant 25% off….I still weigh the options before I buy!
Enjoy the pictures!!!

Did you notice in the catalog that the Washi Tape offerings are all on 1 page – GREAT IDEA….that page # is 195 and I thought that it was brilliant that they are grouped together in “Basic Color Families” I think this makes so much sense and the patterns are just adorable!
Washi Tape is a product that I truly never thought that it would last…but it is a product that we all seem to say – “I am NOT going to buy one more roll of Washi Tape” and then it happens….you say – what is one more roll. I will say that even though I do not use Washi a bunch…when I do, I love it and it is also a great product to jazz up an envelope or great to do project with kids!

After I cut the sweet raindrops out….I simply took the aqua painter and washed over the area with some soft sky ink to give a bit color and depth. This is sooooo easy to do – JUST GO FOR IT! (trust me, I have no clue what I am doing….I jut tried)

I know that you all like Tips & Tricks….in the below picture you will see how I like to store my current Washi Tape…a simple book ring!
This works great for me and then when a Washi is discontinued….they go into a big basket that is a wire mesh so I can easily spot a color that I am looking for!

There you go….a fun card that would make someone really…REALLY happy to receive! This is a great one to use up DSP…use up Washi Tape…. and one that would be great to make up in the masses….face it, when we need a pick me up card…we need it NOW…..so making several up at a time would be the super smart thing to do!
Critter Update!…..Over the weekend I shared that Oscar was “under the weather” with a belly ache…well I admit, I was worried. Seriously, when a horse has a tummy ache it can be very serious if you do not watch and stay on top of….my alarm clock was going off for 3 days just going down to make sure that he was ok – (actually…wonderful John took some of the watches) and I am blessed to have a wonderful Vet and Tom (Hannah’s trainer) that I can text at anytime and they will respond….
Here is a funny….it was super late and I needed to give him some Mineral Oil to help ease his tummy….well let me tell you – for a horse – you need a bunch of Mineral Oil….OFF TO WALMART I go (boy, I really dislike Walmart) but I admit…I was scared and thought that I would kick myself if I did not go etc….well I went and bought a bunch…the check out lady looked at me and said – WOW….someone must be really backed up…
I rest my case….this is why Walmart and I have issues. The moral of the story is….after lots of walking and more walking…. good doses of Mineral Oil and love from us….Oscar is great!

by Susan Itell | Jun 18, 2017 | Step it up Sunday!, Thank You |

Good Morning and welcome to the day of the 2 day personal challenge that I do were I take yesterdays project and step it up a wee bit. As I said yesterday, this is a SUPER fast and easy card to whip up and I will say, Stampin’ Up! taught me a lesson…..the lesson that we all have heard – don’t judge a book by its cover.
I admit, this stamp was not on my “A list” and truth be told not even on my “B list” (I am being totally honest) but I had a customer that just loved it and wanted a dozen of these cards. She loves to send cards out but sadly does not stamp….she just buys! When a new catalog comes out she loves to look through…and yep – this caught her eye.
I am still in amazement with how fast it comes together and I am going to say it out of the gate, I like both cards but today’s wins my heart. I will say…the pictures are hard to give it the love it deserves….but that’s my pick – todays card.

Below you will see the stamp stamp that was used to make these cards and if you did not see yesterdays post….I would go back and read how I truly believe that conditioning a stamp is the key to great success with a clear, clean & crisp image. Face it…if you stamped this and it is not a solid black image….you are going to be struggling to have a great end result. Taking the time is well worth it!

Now to some close ups and comments. I think the reason that I am leaning towards this card is that I like the “white” – I am crazy over So Saffron as I think So Saffron always makes things better but I just like the White with the matting of the Pear Pizzazz.
The Shimmer Pear Pizzazz Ribbon…..is also a smile maker and it just adds a subtle yet classic touch and feel to the whole card. I just used Tear -N- Tape to hold the ribbon in place and then tool a small piece and made a quick knot and adhered that with a simple glue dot!

The other addition I did today was using the Clear Wink of Stella Pen over the letters and in the centers of the flowers….that wee bit or shimmer does the trick when you hold the card in your hand! That is a “secret weapon” that we all need to have in our stash!

There you go…another weekend post in the archives! I hope that this perked you up to take another look at this stamp set. I will say that we always are learning lessons and this is one that I am glad that I learned!
Happy Fathers Day to all of those wonderful men in our lives…..we worked our little tails off yesterday around the house and are going to take some “us time” today! Thanks for the Oscar wishes….he is doing well but yesterday I think he had a bit of a tummy ache and for you people put there that have horses…..you know that it is something to not take lightly…..
I wish that I could have re-wound sleeping last night….but worrying about the animals and checking Oscar throughout the night was needed. I think we are on the right track….A quickie on Mr. Perfect Dog…aka – Milo…..he is getting around like a tripod would do….that little leg of his is straight out but he is in no pain…he continues to melt my heart!
Thanks for popping in and have a wonderful day!

by Susan Itell | Jun 17, 2017 | Simple Saturday |

Woot-Woot – it’s the weekend! I have a SUPER SIMPLE Card for you today! I think that this is the fastest card I have made in a L O N G time. The beauty is the stamp does all of the work for you!
The details are truly unique in this stamp set. In my eyes, this is a very different stamp set for Stampin’ Up! and I will say that when you stamp it – it looks elegant even before you add some color!
The biggest tip I can give you is…MAKE SURE YOUR STAMP IS CONDITIONED WELL. I will go into that…but you can see the boldness of the letters in “THANKS” that you want to make sure that when you stamp….your image is clean and crisp!

There really is not much to say about this card because it is so straight forward but I will chat a wee bit about the coloring that I did. I used my old faithful go-to, the aqua painters.
We all seem to pick the coloring medium that works best for us and the aqua painters are my comfort zone. You could easily use the watercolor pencils, the blender pens or even just the markers….this is a very forgiving area to add color to – just have fun!
I did a wash of So Saffron and then went over with Daffodil Delight where there are the darker sketchier areas of the stamped image. For the leaves I did the same thing….colored the leaves in Pear Pizzazz and then went back over with Wild Wasabi wherever there were the sketched lines….super easy!

Earlier this week I had shared with you that I often pick my color scheme for my card from the DSP Paper that I use for the envelope. Well, today I did not do that (confession of an honest stamper) because I think that I was just so darn excited to start to color away that I never thought about the envelope.
It worked out. We always seem to have yummy paper that will work for the feel and design of a card but remember….if not – just go with a solid coordinating color of paper and perhaps emboss it….that will always do the trick.
You can see that Old Olive is the “green” used in the below DSP of Delightful Daisy….and yep, you are right….I did not use Old Olive – another great example of “don’t get stuck in the rigid box” – always look to the outside! 😀

Before we leave….let’s chat about the conditioning of the stamp. I have blogged about this but sometimes you cannot hear it too much. I like ti take my new stamps and stamp them up really, really good with Versa Mark Ink and then stamp, stamp , stamp.
For those of you that say….what do you do with retired cardstock???….well yep, this is what I do. I have card stock cut down to smaller sizes and I grab a piece and use it to stamp my images when I condition them.
For a stamp like this…you might need to give it some extra love. What do I mean??? Easy….do this method….clean your stamp (I use the Absorber Towels) as you can really get them super squeaky clean and then repeat….stamp with Versa Mark….even squish the stamp around (twist it with your hand) then do a couple regular stamps…..etc….
Now you can go to the black ink and see the results. You really want to make sure that you have great coverage with your stamp image to have that solid clean and crisp stamp. PRESTO!!!! Your stamp is conditioned and you can always reach for this and be good to go!

Now go take this day and make it yours! We are hanging close to home….Oscar, (the perfect horse) had a little surgery on Thursday so I need to be close…he is fine – just needs to be in for a couple of days to make sure that he does not pull stitches….of course that gives me time to “be the Mom” to him and give him extra carrots and brushing!
A perfect day in my eyes….I hope that you enjoyed this card…I confess – I am amazed with how fast it comes together and the end result is a beautiful and unique work of art from the heart!
Just in case you have some “me time”…how about playing the Tic Tac Toe Challenge….there is time to play and trust me, you will have fun – there is something exciting about looking at the elements on the board and then letting you creativity go!
