A Party Favor….

IMG_4304

I just love making 3 – D projects and I love to share them with you to inspire YOU to make them as well! I was sooooooo darn intimidated by making 3-D projects as I thought that were totally "over my head" but once I "got the bug" – I loved it!

If you are not one that makes 3-D's – this is a super one to start with. It is very straight forward and I actually blogged about it on September 29, 2013 and you can click here to see that post and the instructions on how to make it are right there!

Today's is much simpler as I just made the box…and then cutting the "pattern" of the DSP from the Confetti Celebration DSP….I simply made a quick "belly band" before adhering this focal sentiment!

With all of the super fun stamps and super beautiful paper we have, you can clearly see that this project can be made all year around – remeber this post! (I love to pop them on someones desk….in their mailbox, whatever as a "I'm thinking of you")

IMG_4306

Please feel free to email me with any questions you might have. I think that the directions on the post are very clear, but it is always my goal for you to feel confident and understand how to do make cards/projects that I post about!

The stamp set I used was Sketched Birthday and this project is for a friend that celebrates a Birthday in the middle of December! The group of "Iquana's" get together for a lunch and I thought that these would be great table favors!

You can see in the below picture that I already "stamped" many different colors while I had the stamp out….I just need to make the boxes in other colors!

Sometimes when you are working on a project but short of time….this is a great example of getting parts completed….and then after Thanksgiving, I have plenty of time to make my boxes for Kathleen's Birthday!

IMG_4414

I hope that this inspires you to "give it a try" and this would be a GREAT project for your Thanksgiving Table…..you could "double it up" with some yummy Ghiradelli Chocolates as well as a placecard…..I just LOVE multi tasking!

IMG_4309

I hope that this post has put a HUGE smile on your face and you will run out and get some chocolates (great sales right now) and just have fun!

We are now on the COUNTDOWN to Thanksgiving! I just ADORE Thanksgiving and I can hardly wait to have my dear Dad, my brother and (2) of the peeps…Hannah is still away (she is in Brazil now) along with a super sweet friend that is all alone for the holiday….

Here's to a GREAT and FUN weekend ahead, please feel free to email me and ask….ask….ask if you have any questions about making this great project I shared with you today. This is a fun project and I want you to have fun making it!

A FUN PPA Challenge!

IMG_4321

Good Thursday morning to all! Thursday is the day that is the Pals Paper Art to share with you a challenge and for you to take that sketch and put your twist on it! Now…let me tell you….there are many of you that do that Monday personal challenge that I do…so….how about trying this one!?!?!

Here is the sketch and I just had to "play again" with the Santa and Company Designer Series Paper and these "so called Santa's" make me laugh as much as the moose did on Monday? Click here to see that fun card!

Screen shot 2014-11-19 at 7.11.05 PM

I was happy with the end result of this card and I will say..I already know exactly who is getting this card…(I do think these guys need a recipient that appreciates a non-traditional Santa) I do adore the colors that are in the DSP…let's get going!

IMG_4379

I am going to share with you some measurements today as this is a great layout for future cards! Please do not be afraid to use DSP….you can see that the "POP" of extra color makes it fun!

  • The Base is an A-2 card and the Basic Grey is 5 3/8" X 4 1/8" (please pop out some of the middle of this grey as it will ultimately be covered up with the DSP and Old Olive.)
  • The Santa & Co. DSP is 2 3/4" X 4" and the Old Olive is 2 1/4" X 4" and then I used the "snowflakes" and the white craft Ink to make the flakes fall!

  • The Stamp Set that I used is Visions of Santa (and this is not my image of a Santa when I was young) but they do make me smile! I heat embossed the sentiment with the white embossing powder and that always created an instant WOW!
  • IMG_4328
  • You can also see that the other star of the card is the white gel pen…this pen is my friend, and I think that the "extra touch" it brings is a must have!

Today I did both dashed and dots….the best advice I can give you is….JUST DO IT and to not worry about if they are even or not…it truly does not matter and in the long run – it will look great!

  • The below picture is a great shot to see the snowflakes as well as "lifting" the focal sentiment up with the stampin' dimensionals.

IMG_4325

  • A great tip I give to you today is to make sure that you have the Whisper White Craft Ink in your stash of goodies….why????? This makes a great impact and it is something that you "just need in certain times"...this is a product that is often over looked!

IMG_4330

  • The mailman is going to "bust out laughing" with the envelope lining…."I bet he will smile" as every-time I see this paper, I smile!

That's it….how about giving it a try?!?!? It is a fun sketch and I think that you have many stamps that will make is shine!

Please pop onto the other Design Artist's to see the inspirations that they came up with – WOWZERS….so much talent out there!

Thanks for popping in and please email me if I can be of help….

Let's all have a great day and until tomorrow! ( It's a FUN birthday treat…..) – please pop back!

For those of you that have never participated in a card swap….please….pretty please join the fun! Here is the scoop – all you have to do is make 1 card in your choice of the themes above (Christmas/Hanukkah/Winter) and mail it to me along with an envelope that is stamped and already addressed to you and you will get the gift of a lifetime – a handmade card from a "new friend"!

As John always says….it is the simple pleasures like these swaps that make you so happy – he is so right!

Join-the-fun

I know that this is going to be a super busy time of the year so if I were you and want to participate….I would sit down and get going! Please do not stress about it…just make it a reflection to who you are….

If you like fru-fru…..than fru-fru!!!

If you like to be simple….than be simple!!!

If you like to heat embossed…than crank up that heat tool and go to town!!!

I just want you to have fun! After I receive all of the cards….Jeamie and I will do our magic and take pictures and then I will showcase them on my blog – this is always a fun time for everyone to see the cards we all made!

I have no problem opening this up to people that live internationally, the only thing I request is for you to shoot me an email letting me know that you are sending a card to me so I can plan accordingly if the postal service is slow! Also, please make sure that you put the correct currency on your envelope with your address in it!

The date for the cut off is Wednesday, December 10th! I know that this is close to Christmas but I know that you all will LOVE receiving a special "gift of a card" ! This is always fun and I do hope that you will join in with the fun!

Now to my wonderful anniversary……I need to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all for the wonderful comments you sent! We had a fabulous time and I need to share with you something extra special….John did say to me…..

"Close your eyes"…..(I did)…and presto – a handmade card from him...and he was sooo darn tootin' proud!

IMG_4381

Even before I could say anything…he said….did you notice…the color????Silver for 25 years (well it is Smokey Slate , I was just happy that he thought about this)….and then I said I loved the pink and quickly he said – NO, IT IS REAL RED!!! (I burst out laughing)

I was very, very touched and as I have said before – he is a keeper and I look forward to more wonderful adventures ahead!

Thanks for popping by – please join in with the card swap – they are super fun and you will love seeing your card on my blog….I just love showcasing your work!

Tomorrow's card is going to make you smile….I hope to see you back!

Lovin’ my adventure!!!

IMG_4291

Woot-woot!!! Today is a special day for John and I as today is our 25th Anniversary. We snuck away to one of our favorite spots that is in the middle of no where…it is beautiful, peaceful, great food and oh so special to us!

If you are ever in the Maryland area I highly suggest that you come to this place of heaven. It is called the Savage River Lodge and our friends had a dream to build this special place and it is great to see this special place from the beginning!

It is hard to believe that from a total blind date that 25 years later we are still celebrating this special day! John is my rock, my best friend and the best Dad – I am totally blessed!

Today’s card is a fun one for him as I feel like our life is always an adventure and I love being on this adventure with him! We have been able to do so many things together and each and everyday is a great day.

IMG_4300

This stamp set is appropriately called, Life’s Adventure and it is a Hostess Stamp set that is a fun one! I love the “sketched” look of the images. Please remember, you can have a “cyber” event and use your hostess earnings just like if you were having an event at your home. Please feel free to email me and we can carve out a plan for you.

I am again doing a square card (41/2”) …the color scheme came from the Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper and once I saw the arrows I had a “light bulb” thought to use the Draw The Line Stamp to let the bike “guide the way”

IMG_4296

This is a stamp set that cannot be overlooked as not only does it create a great border effect, it is super easy to stamp as it is a Photopolymer Stamp…another woot-woot…..makes life easy even though I do adore the Stamp-a-ma-jig!

The other colors and sizes are White (stamped piece is 4 1/8”) and the Basic Grey is 4 ¼”

I did use my friend, Mr. Stamp-a-ma-jig to get the bike “just right” where I wanted it and then used the piercing tool to poke a hole to ultimately use a Brad Base and then a Candy Dot from the Brights collection.

Before I placed the Brads on the bike, I stamped the hearts from the top! These came from another Hostess Stamp Set called Hello Love and I masked the top portion just to have the hearts dangling down. (The 3 punched out hearts are from the itty bitty accents) representing my 3 wonderful “peeps”

Because the brads are a bit bulky I “doubled up” on the stampin’ dimensionals to really make this lift up off the card. Did you notice that I did a bit of paper piecing for the “flag” – In carrying out the Strawberry Slush I stamped the flag and then did a quick “fussy cut”

IMG_4294

The envelope was made from a piece of 7 ½” paper and then the Envelope Punch Board made it come together in just a couple of punches and scores…..if you do not have this, please ask Santa for it!

That’s it my friends! I know that this is not your typical anniversary card but it is one that does look like John and I! We are heading home today….a quick 24hour get away is just what the doctor ordered!

Remember it is Tuesday so click here to see the weekly deals that Stampin’ Up! is so kind to give us….and remember a simple click will allow you to shop from home….with the crazy season coming  – it is wonderful not to deal with traffic and hype.

These next several weeks are so to ZOOM by so please look to see if you have all of your basics and regular go-to’s! There is nothing more frustrating than sitting down and not having items!

It’s time for another Card Swap…..please pop back tomorrow and find out the scoop!
