The perfect box for the perfect gift!

IMG_2446

Yesterday, I shared with you my bright and cheerful card using the Secret Garden Stamp Set and matching framelits…well today I am showing you how I packaged them all together to give away as a gift! Isn't it adorable!

I love doing extra added touches like this to complete a gift! To me, one of the nicest and not only practical & definitely appreciated gifts would be some note cards…and stamps! It is always great to receive something that you will use…plus when you know that someone took the time to make it for you….well priceless!

My inspiration from this box came from Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek and a blog post she did in July 2012 – click here to see it! Below you will see some changes I made and after making this…I also have more changes to make and I will share them with you in a later post!

This is what I love about creating things…once you put it together… your head keeps spinning in ways that you could "tweak" it a bit to make it easier and more practical for your needs! I just love the basic concept any usefulness of this!

I hope that you enjoy this and please leave me some feedback on how you like it! this box, easily, holds a dozen cards and envelopes! Wow – such a great gift and I am sure my dear friend is going to enjoy and appreciate a dozen cards from me!

Here you go with some tips and pictures I took when I made it! Please email me if you have any questions! Go and have the link above open while you look at my pictures…I think it will make sense to you!

TIP  – Remember a couple blogs ago I said it is always wise to keep some 12 X 12 Card Stock on hand…well this post is a perfect example of why…we carry 12 X 12 Card Stock in many colors…it is always so nice to have this as an option!

CLICK on the picture to make it bigger…you can clearly see the scoring lines!

IMG_2437
You can see how I folded up all of the score lines and see where the placement of the sticky strip went.

TIP – please use the sticky strip if you have it…it is the strongest hold we have and it truly does make the box sturdier!

IMG_2438

Adding a front color of a piece of polka dots from the In Color designer series paper was the fun and cheerful look I was going for! I just used a snail for this!

IMG_2439
Next you can see how I just flipped it over and snipped away…you could also easily use the stampin trimmer, but I love our paper snips for this!

IMG_2440
Peel off and fold together all of the sticky strip and presto – a box! I do recommend doing to decorative part BEFORE you fold and adhere everything together….it really was easy-peasy! You can always add the trim later – but do the paper at this point!

IMG_2441
Now naturally I did not like that point sticking out…and that was a cinch to take care of…snip – snip…gone!

IMG_2442
I simply added some daffodil delight grosgrain ribbon to the outside edge…I did use the sticky strip to adhere it.

TIP: – The Craft Scissors are simply the BEST for cutting ribbon! I finally broke down and purchased a pair and now I say – what did I ever do without them before!?!? I know at 1st glance they are pricy but think about how many times you use them…plus you can also get them for 50% off or even free! Click here and ask me how you can get them!

IMG_2443

Here it is all folded up! For a finishing touch I stamped another flower from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and then popped it out with the help of the Big Shot and the coordinating Secret Garden Framelits!

IMG_2445

I hope that this inspires you to go to your craft area and do this project! Not only is it super cute and fun…it is easy to do!

TIP: I used a simple piece of velcro & adhesive circle to open and shut this…I felt that this was the easy way to utilize this box with putting minimal stress on the box!

I truly hope everyone is enjoying this holiday weekend…we are! Seeing our son graduate yesterday was the BEST!!!!

Until tomorrow!

“Secret Garden” is a bright and fun garden…

IMG_2447

This is a super fun…super bright…super special stamp set and card! The stamp set is, Secret Garden, and it is an "A list" stamp set to own…PLUS it had its own framelits to make your projects look great!

Today's post will be followed by another one tomorrow and you will see how I tied the 2 together! This is a great card to make and give as gifts….changing the sentiment – BAM….you're done and you will make someone very happy with having a great assortment of cards!

IMG_2449

  • The base is good old Whisper White and the colors I used were Gumball Green, Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight.
  • Using a piece of computer paper, I stamped randomly the flowers and then with the leaf, I stamped…then stamped again to give a softer effect!
  • Before mounting the Stamped piece…I took a piece of 1/2 scalloped Dots Ribbon in Melon Mambo…breaks up the card to let the sentiment shine! TIP = I use an adhesive to secure the ribbon so it does not slip around)
  • LOVE the new Hostess Stamp Set, Express Yourself, sooooo many great sentiment – I simply stamped the "congratulations" in the Melon Mambo and the using the Apothecary Accents  and the Big Shot, it was a breeze to pop out! (Can you imagine having to cut this out!!!???)
  • Using the paper trimmer, I cut a small retangle to give the sentiment the backdrop it deserves! Love how it makes the Apothecary POP!

IMG_2448

  • To make an extra special touch and texture, I used the itty bitty punch and popped out some little flowers on the center of the flowers…adder a pearl and to a tiny piiece of stampin' demensionals !
  • Naturally I needed a liner, the Bright Designer Paper is the perfect choice, I just love the daffodil delight, alwasya fun choice!

IMG_2450

By now you all know that I use these designer series paper packs all the time for my envelopes! I get asked often….."what are you going to do when they go bye-bye?"….well no…I did not purchase any to stash away and I am not 'cause the NEW catalog has the basic same concept….ut in super new and fun prints!

Stampin' Up! never lets us down! The new catalog is so exciting and fun! Evert time I flip through it I keep thinking of new ideas and concepts to share with you!

Please pop back tomorrow as I am going to share with you what I did to give a bunch of today's cards away to my dear friend! I just love this card and it has soooo much potential to be used in all different ways!

I am super happy that this stamp set and framelits are in the catalog for the next year! Remember – you can buy them as a bundle and save 15% off the bat! Great deal! I hope this card brightens your day!

Until tomorrow…

Here’s a BOOT of a card!

IMG_2404

I just love this stamp set, Bootiful Occasions, and I was thrilled that Stampin’
Up! Is keeping it in the new catalog…Speaking of new catalog – I hope that you
are as excited as I am…the countdown has begun!!
!

You know by now that I just love odd size cards…this one is
a 5 X 5 square cards…I know – it costs extra postage…but it sure is worth
it!

TIP: – I am sure that many of you are getting ready to place
an order once the new catalog comes out…with that said – do not overlook
purchasing some of the basic colors in the 12 X 12 Card Stock…WHY??? – there
are times that you want to make an odd size card…your own envelope….etc – and
sometime the 8 ½ X 11 doesn’t work!

IMG_2405

My family is “kickin’ up our heels” in North Carolina
celebrating my son’s graduation from College! Last night we had a fabulous
dinner with his fraternity brothers and their families…it was wonderful and I
feel so blessed to have my 83-year-old Dad hanging out with the “frat guys”

I hope this card brings a smile to your face and I hope you
are going to be “kicking up your heels” this Holiday Weekend…. here you go!

  • Picking out the colors was easy…. I knew I
wanted to use soft suede and then a bright color to accent it…simple – the NEW
Bermuda Bay was the perfect choice!
  • Pulling out my main man, Mr. Big Shot, he helped
me with the Scalloped Square Bigz Clear Die! (This gem is going bye-bye and I
do not know why as this would be one that I would suggest you to think about)
  • Use
the necessary tool, Stamp-a-ma-jig…helped making the placement of the
    boot and sentiment perfect!
  • Looked at it and felt in needed something…..a
touch of the ribbon in the corners was the perfect added touch! A simple
“Susan” knot adhered with a simple glue dot was simple and quick!
  • I know it is hard to see…but click on the
picture, it might help = using this diagonal scoring plate I carefully scored
diagonal lines on either side of the ribbon…fun and simple touch! Perfect!

IMG_2406

  • Stampin’ Dimensionals went all over this
base…put I used the L O N G edges that are left after you use the individual
pieces…it is a perfect length for this scalloped square!
  • The envelope to make was a cinch! Starting with
    a 8 ½” square, I simple scored each side at 3 7/8”all the way around…snipped
the little square pieces…some sticky strip ( use it!!! It holds the best!) and
BAM…done – well not before lining it with a piece of Designer Paper From the
    Neutrals Collection!

IMG_2407

Well…. how do you like this! Please email me or leave a
comment letting me know how you are kicking up your heels!!! I appreciate you
comments, support and cyber friendship!

fun, make memories and take time to make someone else smile! Don’t forget…if
you are wanting any of the products that are going “bye-bye”, please click here
to order them…many have sold out already and once they are gone…they are gone!

Until tomorrow….

Super easy – “Thoughts & Prayers”

IMG_2400

It doesn't get any easier than this! For a quick and simple card that has a big impact, you simply cannot go wrong!

Crumb Cake is my all time go-to card stock! I love it that we have matching envelopes as well! Always color coordinates and looks rich and classic!

IMG_2401

  • Crumb Cake A-2 Card base
  • Using the paper piercing tool I punched around the Crumb Cake for some depth – and popped it with Stampin' Dimensionals!

That's it! Now is that easy-peasy or what! It is always good to have several of these types of cards on hand…they come in handy! I just love the clean, crispness of the entire card!

Sometimes just picking 2 colors to focus on creates just as much (sometimes even more) of a wow! Have fun experimenting!

IMG_2402

I hope that this quick and simple card inspires you to "try less" – we all love paper crafting but face it – there are simply times that we do not have the time to put into making fru-fru cards….I personally like the clean look!

Email me or leave me a comment on this simple card….it's a fun one to make and you know whom ever receive it will love it!

Until tomorrow…..

Twirling “Wishes your way” for your birthday!

IMG_2396

O.k…I am really…really tickled with this card! I love spinner cards and the last one I did was for Halloween…so you can see how long that has been!

My Mother in Laws Birthday is this week and trying to be prepared for my sons graduation…I have been planing my posts in advance!

As we all know…Birthdays are special  and it deserves a special card! I have been trying to focus on stamp sets that are going "bye-bye"….WHY??? I really believe that we have so many great stamp sets that are being discontinued but are also very special!

I get asked…what are you going to do with your stamps?…well – simple, many of them I will sell, but there are some that I just love…and this one is one of them because I love the simplicity of it and then BANG it gives with this card!

IMG_2397
I was inspired by super Stampin Up! Demonstrator, Dawn Olchefske and her video….please check it out as it is great! There were a couple of things that I changed up to make it work for me and also some tips for you!

Enjoy and here are some of the detail for my card!

  • The colors of paper I used were, Rose Red for the base…daffodil delight and Watercolor Paper…why???
  • I used the Bordering on Romance Stamp Set, and knowing that I would use the aqua painter…I knew this would be the perfect choice!
  • Picking the colors from the Floral District Designer Series Paper, it was a super cute way to enhance this card!
  • TIP – 1st, the Pinwheel Sizzlets is the bargain….only $4.95 and look at the fun and WOW!!! When you go to put it all together…push the entire pinwheel onto your paper piercer…it makes it sooo much easier to adhere a brad to it!
  • TIP – When you use the Word Window Punch, I made a faint pencil make at 1/4" on the sides before I punch…not to make it too close ( it keeps it from tearing when you wiggle the penny part!)
  • TIP  – I stamped the sentiment from the Wishes Your Way Stamp Set, BELOW the pinwheel….this way it does not block the sweet message!
  • The liner was for the envelope was the same as the pinwheel to carry on the theme!
  • Extra Bling…I stamped the inside of the envelope as well as the outside of the envelope to make it even more special!
    IMG_2398
  • When you see Dawn in the video do the SHAKE-SHAKE-SHAKE!!!! Do it…it makes all the difference in the world! I did triple mount the 3 dimensions that she just did 2….I personally think it helps!

I just LOVE "interactive cards" and I found myself playing and playing with this one! Too cute…too simple…too easy…I truly hope that you case my card and also watch Dawns great video!

I am hoping that once I get help ( with having the college kids home) ….they will help me learn to do videos…it will be super hard to keep them timely as I love to talk!

The moral of today's post is…do not be afraid to order stamps that are being discontinued…..this is a decision that Stampin' Up! unfortunately has the super hard choice to make…but by all means – it does not mean that they are "loser" stamps….if you like them…THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS!

IMG_2399

Have a super day….please let me know how you like this….I wish you could see it spin….( trust me it is super cute!)

Until tomorrow…..

p.s. – please all keep your thoughts and prayers to the people in Oklahoma…so very tragic and sad.
