by Susan Itell | Mar 13, 2013 | Get Well, Thinking of you |
To me, I think this card is simple…elegant…clean and I think just beautiful! I absolutely love having the white on white effect – it truly makes a statement! This technique can be used with so many different stamp set and themes. I used to use this technique a lot when I scrapbooked – I would take a photo and cut it – then piece it together like this card….a really fun effect!

The Summer Silhouettes Stamp Set is probably one of the most versatile stamp sets we have! If I had to pick an "A-B-C" list of stamps to purchase, this one would definitely be in the "A" list ! It is perfect for birthday's, thinking of you, sympathy, get well etc…a beautiful "go – to" stamp set! I have not used "purple" for a long time so I thought the Wisteria Wonder would be soft and subtle and after all…this color is getting ready to be retired – boo-hoo!!! The green used here is Wild Wasabi ( don't you love that name!!!)

A couple of days ago, I shared a tip with you and it works great on this stamp set as well – if you have a stamp that has a flat surface that really needs good ink coverage, go over it with a sanding block to "scurf it up a bit"…this makes the ink really take hold and gives you a solid, crisp image! I like my leaves to be strong and bold!
I simply stamped my images on a piece of White Card stock…just free-handed it – if you want to use the stamp-a-ma-jig…you could – but this stamp is pretty easy to do free-handed! Stamp your image and then simply cut it in equal increments…voila!!! Now you know how I feel about the Stampin' Trimmer…definitely on the "A" list…this gem makes life so easy! I think I have soooo many trimmers in my house that I could fill a closet with…but HANDS DOWN – this is the best trimmer I have ever used! The precious little sentiment comes from the teeny tiny wishes stamp set…always a go-to for the perfect short and sweet message!
Space your cut up image evenly the Wisteria Wonder Card Stock and WOW~I still felt I needed a bit more so I thought the perfect soft and elegant touch would be to use the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder to highlight the tone on tone effect…these little gems at $7.95 are a SUPER bargain to make a card go from OK to WOW!!!
Here is another TIP – I find that after you emboss and then put an adhesive on the embossed piece, you sometimes crease your embossed image….( hope this makes sense) – I find if you put your adhesive on the card stick BEFORE you run it through Mr. Big Shot…you never have that problem! The adhesive of choice for me when doing this is the sticky strip ( I know it is more expensive than other options…but it is the one adhesive that really holds your image flat) Simply peel off and it looks and holds perfectly!

Wrapping a piece of Wild Wasabi Grosgrain Ribbon around the focal image pulled it all together – all it takes is just a little snip of ribbon, and look at the effect! I did POP with Stampin' Dimensionals the floral part of the card and the liner for the envelope was from the Subtles Designer Paper Series…(just love those paper collections!!!)

Thank you for joining us for the March Pals Blog Hop! Today the Stampin'
Pretty Pals are excited to share new ideas and projects to get you ready for
spring.
You should have just left stop number 18 on the Pals Hop – Kim Czenszak at Live Love Stamp. If so, you are in the right spot.
If you get off track, the full blog lineup below will help you move along
from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

I am so excited for today…as this is my 1st Pals Hop and I am very happy with my card! (wish the photography was better – but please click on the image to see it better)…the center stage of my card came from the Lovely Letters Alphabet! I have been wanting to use this stamp set for so long so OUT IT CAME for today's fun event!
You simply need to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig…it is a GREAT tool – just DIVE in and use it – it will become your best friend! Below you will see a photo of how I did it…Using a piece of whisper white card stock and use a little bit of adhesive to keep it on place – I went working inside out…I stamped my letters in Daffodil Delight! Doesn't this color make you smile…yellow is such a happy color!

I knew in the back of my head that I wanted to really "showcase" the word "EASTER" then I knew framing it with Garden Green would be a POP factor!…the rest came natural – I am in love with the Sale-A-Bration Bloomin' Marvelous Stamp Set ( hurry-hurry…March 22nd will be here before you know it!!!!!) I stamped it…then stamped it off to make the image a bit lighter! Naturally a flower needs a little bling in the middle…and as we all know – "Pearls are classic, Pearls are clean…we all love them"…so out came the Pearl Basic Jewels to do the finish touch!

There are lots of things that make me smile….and one is the polka dot paper! Smiling to simple things like this is something that we all need to do – Polka Dot Parade Designer Paper surely gives this card that special WOW and FUN factor! I just love this paper and all of the fun colors it comes it!
Have you ever been in the middle of a card that something spilled on your work area? Well this happened to me below and I thought – I can fix it…..I simple put a piece of ribbon over my boo-boo and did the Susan knot ( remember…..I am bow challenged!!!!) and voila, looks great! The ribbon I used it the simple to use Taffeta Ribbon….love it – comes in soooo many colors!

If you are used to following my blog, you know I always do 2 things with each and every card…use Stampin' Dimensionals and always line my envelopes! As always….DONE! I used the Brights Designer Series Paper to line my custom envelope!
Next you are probably saying…..how did I make this odd shape envelope? Easy-peasy cause' we have sooooo many
talented PALS that are always so generous in sharing their works…tips
& techniques! Fellow Stampin' Pal, Mike Funk does simply amazing
work ( I look forward to meeting him one day in person – I just love his
style)…please go and check out his blog, stampin-style.
I remember that he had a super great video on how to make an odd size
envelope…I know – there are many out there…but this one is
bingo-bango!!! Click here to check it out!
Did you see what I did to the outside of the envelope? I had to do a little finale for the closure…I used the Blossom Punch and then used the 1 3/4 Scallop Circle Punch stamped with the flower image! Isn't it super cute! Please email me and let me know how you like it….but WAIT…..you need to read on to be able to win some BLOG CANDY!!!!

Now this is a different post for me but a post that I have been wanting to share with you! My Digital Studio is simply an amazing tool that Stampin' Up has and this program does sooooo incredibly much that I feel I can honestly say that I have not even touched the survace of it !
I am taking a class on learning more later this week and my goal is to be able to share a post with you once a week utilizing something from MDS (My Digital Studio). You can create so many things and you can also create clean and simple cards….have them printed off….and then if you want – add a little bling here and there and the WOW factor will be there just like of you had made it from scratch!
This card I made when my daughter went off to college! You want to know one of the things that I think is super-duper cool about MDS?…..well – let me tell you – When you create a card…it is the same darn price doing all 4 sides….ok – close your eyes and image you are holding a card….your looking at #1 - the front…when you open it ( the left side now – #2)….you can put pictures….text…..whatever and there is no additional charge…..same think for the (#3) and even the back of the card….is that great or what!
The other thing that is a home run with MDS is the printing service….it is the highest of quality….you simply click…put the amount of cards you want….presto….done and then your creation that YOU create will come to your house! You can make 1 of a card…or make your whole Christmas list!
Enjoy previewing this card…this was my very 1st card I did with MDS and I was happy! I will try to keep to my commitment in making one day a week a MDS day…….Until tomorrow…..happy stamping and MDS-ing!!!!

Did the paper and embellishments look familiar….well – everything that you get from Stampin Up is the same colors…stamps…pearls etc….isn't that super amazing!!!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today…if you haven't already signed up for my daily postings…please sign up in the upper right hand corner! Isn't this a sweet card! The title of the Stamp Set, Easy Events…says it all – and I think it's a keeper! It uses 2 of my favorite things – using Mr. Big Shot and being able to "water-colorer" using the Aqua Painter Pens – It truly makes me feel like Picasso!!! Isn't it fun and cheerful!
Breaking it down, I needed some cute thank you's so this stamp set screamed to me as I always love the simplicity of it! Using the Black StazOn Ink and I stamped in on our Water Color Paper. I know you can totally use the whisper white card stock we have but I think the end result of using the watercolor paper is perfect! It lays perfectly flat!
Using the Aqua Painter Pens I water colored in the flowers to give it that special punch! After coloring, I punched the image out with the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch then using a sponge, I soften the edges of my images but lightly sponging with Crumb Cake, just to pull it all together! I wanted the real red to POP out so first I ran it through the big shot and using the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder, I gave the bold effect - a WOW factor!
I knew that I want the effect of another strong color so I felt the Lucky Limeade was the perfect choice! Tying in the Island Indigo with our envelopes liner I thought it would be fun to jazz it up a bit and pull out the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch ( I forget about this little gem) ! The perfect finishing touch to add the pizzazz I needed!
The final touch was punching a hole to the right of my image…threading some whisper white taffeta ribbon through it and tying a simple knot ( remember – I am bow challenged and I actually like the look of a knot!) then adhered this entire piece over top of the Red Red/Crumb Cake base!

Naturally, I popped it with some dimensionals as a card would not be a card without a little "lift" and then lined the envelope with that fresh and fun print from the Summer Smooches Designer Paper! TIP: I really like using the Tombow adhesive when putting down things like the punched scallop piece of paper – a little goes a long way and it is just easier I find than using the snail!

Hopefully today's card inspired you to whip up some cute and sweet thank-yous! It's just as easy to make up several when you are taking the time in the first place! I try to keep a stash of a variety of cards with me…"just in case!!!" but remember the stamps! Please email me or leave me a comment and let me know how you like this card! I think it is really sweet! Sale-A-Bration is winding down…March 22nd will be here before you know it! Have a wonderful day!
by Susan Itell | Mar 8, 2013 | Birthday, Masculine, Things you just have to buy! |
It is time for a masculine Birthday Card and I am still on that Square Card thing – today is a special day for me…it is my brother Todds 51st Birthday! I hope that your day is filled with sunshine, happiness and continued great health ( he better be looking at my blog!!!!) I must say….I liked the way it turned out! CLICK on it…it will look much better!!!!

I have been on a roll making super simple cards! How much easier could this be! The stamp set is, Priority Mail, it is a Hostess Stamp Set…..your asking… – how can I have that? Easy…you can host a card making class…be the coordinator for a Stamp-n-Stack…or simply put an order in for yourself and if your total is a qualifying order – than it could be yours! EASY RIGHT! It is super cute and the price is super great…for the clear mount set – only $12.00! Email me and let me help you earn this! Stampin Up now is offering a way for you to have a "cyber party" – simply share with your friends that you are having a party…they will use a special hostess code to give you credit and BAM – you are done! Email me and I will share with you how easy it will be for you to be a cyber hostess!!!!!

The color I chose were very rich and masculine: Crumb Cake, Night of Navy and Soft Suede. I 1st did a technique that I have not done forever( and I really like it – I just forget about it)…I heat embossed the "eat cake stamp"After I stamped my image using the VersaMark Pad i used the White Embossing Powder ….gave it a good tap-tap…the used the "Heat Tool" to set it…I just LOVE to watch the magic happen and see how the image comes to life! TIP: – I would highly recommend using the Embossing Buddy to wipe over your paper that you are using the VersaMark on…it will eliminate any static on your paper to give you a clean crisp image!

You can see how easy this came together….just a stamp…heat tool – fun & done…pop it out with the Postage Stamp Punch then I layered it with the 1 3/8" Square Punch….EASY – right!?!? Naturally I added stampin' dimensionals behind each square to give the card depth and WOW! Using the Neutrals Designer Paper to line the envelope was the finishing touch to this masculine card for my brother! Just let your mind go wold with different color combinations…..endless!!!!
Have fun creating and trying new techniques! There are so many times we get on a roll and forget about doing other techniques…I have not heat embossed for a long time – it was fun and I plan to do more next week! It really makes you feel like you are a really good card maker when you whip out the heat gun!!!! Ha-ha……Have a great day…..please email me to help you reach your goals! I love what I do and I love helping you!!!!!
