This cotton ribbon is just a dream to work with! The colors are so vibrant, I just could not resist using it in this way! Remember, if you want to be a part of the Ribbon share…I am ordering on Wednesday (tomorrow) so here is your chance to get all of the new ribbon at a fraction of the price if you were going to order them. Click here. Please remember to put in the header of the email RIBBON & PAPER SHARE.

Now is this a cutie-pie or what! I was tickled pink (ha-ha) with it! You know I adore the DSP Stacks and they are my "go to" just about on a daily basis. To me…these stacks are a MUST HAVE for your stash of inventory!

I used them all the time to line envelopes…so darn handy – that's why I put them in my paper share….you can get a 1/4 sheet of each color in every collection to see how you like them!

IMG_1125

TIP ALERT: Remember when you are making a belly band…not to make it too tight or it becomes a real pain getting it on and off!!! I simply take my paper and loosly wrap it around to get my "bend" – then I go back and give it a good score line!

IMG_1127

I used the #7 Circle Framelit …1st made a template to have for the future (much easier than potentially ruining your DSP)….I just drew a pencil line at the half way point them trimmed it! PRESTO….easy-peasy!

IMG_1110

I should have taken a picture on the inside…not only does the gift card fit in there perfect – you have room to write a message and even "jazz up" the inside if you wanted!

IMG_1135

I have been having fun making up these "Rental Cars" for you…if you liked today's post, I figured up a great grouping of products that you could pick…just a hair under $55.00 – perfect!

I do hope that you consider doing something fun for yourself. Maybe it's just that you and a friend enjoy the products…I say GREAT…maybe you just want to get that big 30% off and be done…I say GREAT!

I have been in your shoes before…I probably had everything in the catalog and never was approached to take a test drive…being in direct sales before, I knew that there are always great opportunities…that's when I found Mary FIsh and I knew that it was the right fit! (go figure – I live in Maryland and Mary lives in Arizona…it truly does not make a difference)

I was just like Mary…going to get the big 30% and stock up on the basics (and more) and be done…well – that did not happen but the reason that it did not was because I decided I did not want to turn my rental car in. Being a part of the PAL community is great and YOU will have all of the same perks and inspiration that I get!

Click here if you are ready to do something for you! Email me if I can be of help…but it would be a joy to have you in the PALS fun community!

Until tomorrow!

A simple…”hello”

IMG_1090

Happy Sunday to everyone and if you are popping onto my blog from visiting my dear friend & fearless leader, Mary Fish…welcome and here is a super simple "hello" to you!

Just over 2 years ago I made the best decision to become a SUD and have Mary Fish be my mentor. Not only do I feel blessed to be a part of such a dynamic group (the PALS) but I have built friendships, developed my paper crafting style and continue to learn and be inspired and I thank you for popping by today!

I am a very clean and simple gal…I like to make cards that are practical and duplicatable. I am a firm believer that when you have a card that you love and it simply "works" for you….do it over and over but make some color changes…perhaps a different stamp – I look at it as it is a "formula"!

IMG_1088

For this card you could easily change up the sentiment, change the color of the card stock and the colors that I stamped the flower in…truly the sky is the limit – you will have a totally different look and it will be a great work art that YOU made from your heart!

Let's get going…this is really sooooo simple you really do not need me…

  • The base is the Whisper White Notecard and Envelope…(a must have…click here to my post of favorite things that are under $10.00) and then the white piece is just 1/4" smaller -  3 1/4" X 4 3/4".
  • The flower is from the single stamp, Bloom for you….another must have (I posted before that I adore the fact with this new catalog that we have many affordable single stamps that carry a BIG STATEMENT, this is a great example)

134345G

  • The colors I used today were from the In Color Collection, Strawberry Slush, Baked Brown Sugar and Coastal Cabana.
  • Stampin' Up has "hands down" THE BEST PUNCHES on the market and wowzers, they make life so darn tootin' easy for us. The punches I used that coordinate with the flower are: Fun Flower, 1/2" circle and the 7/8" scalloped circle punches

IMG_1096

  • Let's talk about this sentiment…..adorable…right? This came from the "Hi There" stamp set and it too is super affordable…don't you love the 4 sentiments….these circle ones would be adorable on a 3 X 3 card! I simply stamped the "hello" on the lower part of the card so my flower would be balanced! Using Baked Brown Sugar…a quick and simple stamp is all that is needed!

134216G

  • Now to the fun and "not so typical Susan part"…the loops and wisps of the Bakers Twine! I have seen many trends in doing this, especially with the linen thread so I thought – what the heck…why not give it a whirl!

As you can see in the picture below I simply used a couple of glue dots and then randomly placed the bakers twine.

TIP: – you could use my favorite green glue (again on my great SU products under $10.00) but I was not patient enough and felt the dots would do the trick! This is a great way to use up scraps and after you get the flower on the card, you can snip away the twine to the length you want!

IMG_1086

  • I did place some stampin' vitamins under some of the petals and then also placed them over the whole white piece….advice: do not skimp on Stampin' Dimensionals – they are so darn affordable and there is nothing more sad than a sagging card…too many times people just put them in the corners but remember, the center is super important as well!

IMG_1094

  • It wouldn't be a "Susan" card without a fun envelope! Envelopes just make me happy and make me smile as my Mom always adored beautiful envelopes – I get that from her…always line the evelope…it is so easy to do and it is a nice thing to do for your mailman….he'll smile too!

IMG_1103

For those of you that do not have a Big Shot or the Envelope Liner Framelits, I wanted to share with you a simple way to make an envelope come to life! Simply put your adhesive around the edges…place a piece of decorative ot solid paper that is larger over top..and simply snip away! PRESTO – a perfect outer lined envelope!

QUESTION??? – (Now if you do not have the Big Shot…I ask WHY? I know that it is an investment but it is one that you will never, ever regret – and you can get it at 50% off with hostess rewards!!!)

IMG_1101

Did you notice the front of the envelope? This is another thing I love to do…a simple stamp on the front and then add my "trio dots" makes me happy! Try it – it is fun and it becomes addictive!

IMG_1098

Well as the saying goes….."That's all folks" I hope that you have enjoyed my post and I have inspired you to keep it simple! Please feel free to email me if I can answer any questions for you!

This is the card that I will be sending to all of the people that are taking advantage of my Ribbon and DSP Stack Paper Swatchclick here to see that post. I always love "tucking in something special" as my thanks!

I thank YOU for stopping by and I thank Mary for allowing me the opportunity to share my work with you! I have been guided by the best and I am always thrilled to be a guest stamper.

I do blog daily so if you are interested in getting a daily dose of inspiration, please feel free to subscibe to the right of the blog!

Have a wonderful Sunday and until tomorrow!

“It’s a cupcake kind of day!”

IMG_1040

I know that when most of us saw that they were discontinuing the cupcake stamp set from the old catalog, we were sad but we also knew that the SUPER Cupcake builder punch was staying around ….which meant that Stampin' Up! had something up their sleeve!

That something is the super fun stamp set called Cupcake Party and it is just adorable! It is a super fast card to put together as the matching punch makes it a breeze to POP out! I love monochromatic cards and I have a co-worker that is celebrating her birthday today!

134126G

I decided to go with a note card size but I cut it myself so I could have a vertical fold! Wanting something "perky and bright" I when with Bermuda Bay and the accent of Soft Sky! (I personally love this color combination together)

IMG_1046

The Bermuda Bay is just a smidge smaller than the card base (1/8th" smaller) and then I used the FUN Decorative Dots Embossing Folder with the help of the Big Shot and I let the magic happen with a big crank! These embossing folders are simply the best!

I like to adhere images after I embossed them so they lay super flat and let the image show to its fullest! The white piece is 2 3/4" X 4 1/4" and then I simply had fun stampin' and punchin'…the little confetti's were from the Cupcake Punch…you would be so surprised at how much you use this punch! (I used it a bunch for the confetti for the centers of flowers)

121807L

I bet some of you are surprised…I made a bow!!! WOOT-WOOT!!! The Bermuda Bay satin Ribbon seemed like a perfect choice to add that little special touch! A simple glue dot held it in place!

The envelope had a double whammy…sometimes I just cannot resist…a beautiful envelope makes me smile! The Brights Designer Series Paper Stack to the rescue again…..my motto…

When in doubt…pull them out!

Why not – since we have them in all color combinations its a no brainer…these gems are often overlooked but to me…they are TOP on the list in all color palettes!

IMG_1042

I know that I have posted before about the great offer Stampin' Up! is offering….taking a "test drive" for just $50.00! Well here is another "Susan Collection" that I have put together that would be a perfect start for your rental car!

Remember, you have nothing to lose and you can turn that car right back in even after you place your 1st order and get a 30% discount (that's more than I get). I adore hobbiest and I would love to have you on my team. To me, being a hobby demonstrator is the best…they are always happy as they just simply love the product and making projects!

Screen shot 2014-06-04 at 12.00.08 PM

Please think about it and then email me….I will be happy to answer any questions you have. It really is a great opportunity and also one that you can walk away from at anytime…you name your own guidelines as to what works for you!

IMG_1048

WOWZERS….it is super hot on the East Coast…please take it easy and drink lots of water…if I had my way, I would be sitting in the air-conditioning stampin' all day long!

Until tomorrow….it's a PALS PPA challenge!

Cute little guy….

IMG_0975

1st…a BIG Happy Fathers Day to all of those great Dad's out there and I hope that your families are able to have a fun day!

We had a big surprise…one of the "peeps" came home to surprise John! He was so touched and even though he is here for less than 24 hours…we are going to make the most of it!

John and I are starting our day taking a walk/run at the Antietam Battlefield. It is right near our house and it is a beautiful spot to walk. John is doing so well…he is up to a 6 mile walk/run and each and every step I see him take I think back to his injury – I am so proud of him!

This is a "Simple Susan" card and you do not need me for this but I will still walk you through it! This little guy is just adorable and you can bet that this will be a Breast Cancer Card in July! Do you remember last week I was saying I adore the single stamps that are in the catalog this year…well this is one of them!

Adorable…right??? The best part is that it is just $9.95! He is soooooo cute!

134360G

The base of the card is from good old faithful, the white note-card & envelopes and then this wowzers Designer Series Paper is called Lullaby. I adore the colors as it can be suitable for so many different cards and I am especially fond of stripes – too cute!

133695G

IMG_0970

The watercolor part is 2 3/4" X 4" and then I used the Black Staz On to stamp the adorable image and then the aqua painter did their trick! The colors I used were crumb cake, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon & Chocolate Chip.

CONFESSION: I did not do the best job coloring this today (especially after yesterdays great card) but I did not have my "readers" and it is not very subtle…the crazy thing is that I used Chocolate Chip for shadowing the ears and his nose…and as it dried – it turned up with a "red look"  -  weird!

IMG_0959

I matted it with the new in color, lost lagoon just a smidge larger and then popped it up with Stampin' Vitamins…too darn tootin easy! The Big Shot and the envelope liner framelit was the quick last touch!

IMG_0976

I hope that this sweet card should make you smile – it is a breeze to whip up and you better believe that I will do it again for you in a totally different way! So fun and fast!

Have a fabulous day, make some memories and tomorrow is the Monday personal challenge for you all….I hope that you pop back but more importantly I hope that you try the challenge! There are so many of you growing and growing with developing your own style – I am so proud of you!

Happy Fathers Day…have a great day and until tomorrow!

A Simple Sympathy card for Saturday!

IMG_0952

The minute I saw this stamp set I knew that it would be making its way to my home…isn't it simply beautiful! This is a "hostess stamp set" and I think Stampin' Up! has out done themselves this catalog with all of the great offerings!

This was an easy-peasy card to make and one that would be easily a great layout to "mass produce", perhaps change up the sentiment etc…I know that I used a bunch of paper today but I think all of the layers "make it" and you know me…I take FULL ADVANTAGE of saving paper and the pieces that are covered up…I have popped out with punches!

133949G

I always try to make my posts for all levels of Stampers but I want you to know how you can earn a hostess stamp set like this  – there are several ways!

  • If you have an order that totals over $150.00, that automatically means that you have spent enough to earn $25.00 in hostess dollars and this stamp set is $23.00 (wood) and $17.00 (clear)
  • If you wish for me to give you a hostess code and you obtain orders from family and friends (they will be shipped directly to them so you do not have to live in the same area) – you can earn hostess dollars
  • If you wish for me to teach a class or have a one on one with you I would LOVE it…(I have even had skype sessions to help people learn techniques)

See the below chart and you will see the various levels of earning potentials!

Remember, all orders that are placed through me this week will have the opportunity to win the hostess dollars from my sales this week…just put in the hostess code of YJ4EWY3C and you could be the lucky winner!

Screen shot 2014-05-16 at 7.42.05 PM

Lets get to the card today! This was so much fun to make and WOW – easy as pie!

IMG_0948

The base and the envelopes are the new Crumb cake Note card & Envelopes and I am so happy that they have come out with this in this color! To me, this is the perfect size for a quick note! Here you go – I have the dimensions for you but I really….REALLY want you to try this easy technique!

  • You can see that there are many layers and it is these layers that help create the simple WOW factor for this card!
  • The Water Color Paper (and YES – use Water Color Paper) is 2 1/2" X 3 1/2". I simply took the markers in the following colors: Hello Honey, Old Olive, and Soft Suede and colored the stamp with the brush tip end.

IMG_0958

  • Using a super simple tool that  think we all forget about and heck – you get (2) for just under $3.00…I did a quick "Spritz" of water on the stamp and then stamped it to the Water Color Paper….MAGIC – it is a bit wet so be patient and let it dry!

126185L

  • After I let it dry a bit then I took my Aqua Painter and lightly pulled the color away to give it more of a water colored look. If you do not have the Aqua Painters a Q-tip would work but I really recommend the Aqua Painters.

IMG_0956

  • I matted this onto a piece of Hello Honey that is 2 5/8” X 3” and then onto a piece of Soft Suede that is 3” X 4”.

  • The Crumb Cake is 3 ¼” X 4 3/8” and then I wanted to use the new satin stitched ribbon in Hello Honey so I did a simple diagonal wrap around this piece before adhering it down! This ribbon is great to work with!

IMG_0954

  • Now you can add the layered water colored piece and POP it with Stampin’ Dimensionals! WOWZERS! The font on the sentiment is super cute…and a simple mat of soft suede is all that is needed!

TIP: When you have a small sentiment like this, I find it easier to use the brush end of the marker than using the stamp pad. Sometimes I get too much ink on the stamp and it blotches! (That’s the type A in me…)

IMG_0953

Let’s talk about this stamp set again. When  saw it and I knew about the blendabilities I was doing this HAPPY DANCE as this is a PERFECT stamp set for these new markers. I will do a future post  using these markers!

I lined the back flap today with the Moonlight Designer Series Stack and it was the fast, finishing touch!

IMG_0950

Please do not be afraid to try water-coloring. It is really fun and it does make you feel like an artist at heart!

I always wanted to be able to paint…my art classes in school were not the best – I made great “stick people” and mastered a "primitive tree with leaves"…but when I do a card like this…I stand back and I am proud of myself!

That’s a feeling that I want you to have as well – you can do it…wouldn’t this be super fun in sooo many color palettes? Please give it a whirl!

I hope that this card has inspired you today. I was very pleased with it…hopefully you can find some “me” time and play with paper this weekend!

As always, I appreciate your comments and if you need to email me…please do so – I love what I do and I love helping you! Until tomorrow!

Festive and Fun color challenge…

IMG_0846

It's Thursday – and that's another opportunity for you to have fun with color! This week is a color challenge and it is a fun and festive one! If you do not have these specific colors…no worries – the Pals Team just want you to play along!

I will be more than happy to help you upload your take on the challenge, you do not need to have a blog, you do not need to be a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator…email me, and I will be happy to help you!

Screen shot 2014-06-10 at 8.13.25 PM

Before we get to today's card…let's chat about the blog hop yesterday!!! Wasn't it fantastic! I am always so amazed with all of the talent, fresh ideas, unique ideas…there were 27 of us hopping away….this was my take on my favorites – click here!

IMG_0848

This card is so easy to make and I have made it before using fall colors. You know how I feel about great layouts…if they work and you like them…do them over and over again! (Think about the favorite pair of shoes we all seem to have – you do not think twice on that -  do you!?!?)

You can see that this card does not even have a sentiment and that is just fine…it has it's own statement on it's own…It is a 4 X 4 card and I made the envelope with the Envelope Punch Board…

I have lots of pictures for you but here is the BEST tip I can give to you…do not mount down the top square until the very end as you can see that it is "tucked under" the blue one….(look at the tip I gave you on the picture)

IMG_0851

To see the other cards that I made with this layout click here and here. The key points to this card are really simple and this uses a minimal amount of product!

Talk about easy!

  • (2) squares – at 2 1/2"
  • (8) squares of 2 different patterns at 1 1/4" squares
  • Using the grids on my Stampin Up Grid Paper to keep them straight – I adhered them together and then PRESTO – put each of the 1 1/4" squares all the way around!

IMG_0853

The Designer Series Paper came from the new Maritime Collection. The patterns and colors are so bold and sharp!

133696G

To the center I used a white button from the neutrals collection but the best is the ribbon….this is the NEW 1/4 cotton ribbon and hands down – this was the most popular ribbon that I offered in my ribbon share! (I am going to offer another round of ribbon shares next week as I keep getting emails!!!)

This ribbon is just beautiful – an answer to my bow challenged hands – the colors is comes in are AMAZING and the ease of it is wonderful!

Here is a great tip for you…we all know how small the holes are on the buttons…use the BEST RIBBON CUTTING SCISSORS IN THE WORLD, the and cut the ribbon on a sharp angle…try to get the tip in and then jam the piercing tool in until you can grab a piece of it to pull through!

IMG_0859

This makes a great knot and look how super clean these scissors make the edges! I admit that I thought that these scissors were soooo darn expensive – true they are but they are worth every penny…every time I use them I say to myself – I love them!

I108360F

Last thing to do is the envelope! That is easy with the envelope punch board…simply look at the chart and read the size of card that you have – pull out paper and cut it to the size it tells you….press/score – woot-woot! The liner is that extra touch that I always love!

IMG_0855

Do you remember last week when I shared with you a "kit" to take a test drive with Stampin' Up!?

We all love our products and why wouldn't we want to get them at a discount…I have yet to meet someone that does not enjoy a deal!

Pick up your rental car for just $50.00 and you can fill it up with $55.00 worth of goodies…look below for another great take on a collection!

Screen shot 2014-06-04 at 12.00.08 PM

I think by now you all know that I love what I do…it is a honor to be on the PALS team with Mary Fish and I would love to have you on my fun team! I love clean and simple projects and I adore helping you have the confidence to have fun creating works of art!

Email me, I'd love to chat! Until tomorrow!
