It’s a PPA Day!

IMG_8642

Happy Thursday! Today is the day of the week that we do our challenges and this week we are challenged with a sketch! Here it is…how about playing this week – it is a super straight forward sketch and I took it very literally this week! Kerry sure does know how to provide us with great sketches!

With Fathers Day being this weekend I thought that this would be a simple card for you to case away. This is the first that I have used the new Brick Wall Embossing Folder and let me tell you….IT IS WONDERFUL…WHY??? – It is a 6" x 6" folder which is a new size for us and the impression of the bricks is soooo deep which really brings it out.

This is sooo darn straight forward and the other NEW speed tool that I used is the Banner Triple Punch…this punches 3 sizes of banners BUT REALLY it punches so many more than just 3!

IMG_8648

True it has 3 channels to punch in the widths of 1" 1 1/2" and 2" but if you basically place any odd size of paper and flip the punch over to where you can see the paper to make the banner part….POP – you can make your own size!

This is what I did today for two the them. The sizes are 1 3/4", 1" and 3/4". I also had some fun with the very vanilla ones by stamping on them.Being able to "see thru" the stamp made perfect placement a cinch!

IMG_8645

This is probably the most simple punch Stampin’ Up! has made…I am sure that many of you thought….this is silly – we can easily make our own banners (I was one of the,…I 1st thought it was silly) but once you have it, you quickly discover how amazing and FAST it is to use.

The base is in Very Vanilla and then the “brick wall” is in Sahara Sand. Do you notice how nice and deep the impressions are of the folder, this really makes a dramatic effect.

IMG_8646

The DSP banner is from the Go Wild Paper Stack and I took advantage of using the other banners to use some of the stamps  from the Guy Greeting Stamp Set.

I know that many of you feel that we do not have a bunch of masculine stamp sets, but this one , Gut Greeting, is clearly a versatile one. Did you notice that Stampin’ Up! has made this set in all 3 mounts? I prefer the photopolymer for the ease of seeing through!

IMG_8649

The envelope love came from some stamping on the front as well as I carried the brick wall in the Sahara Sand on the back flap…I love dressing up an envelope like this – you can do anything with "plain jane" paper!

I hope that you can find some time to play with this challenge. Hop over to the site to see what the beauties!

Remember that I am offering "Round 2" of my Product Share. I have all of my cutting and labels supplies all ready for me as I will be staying downstairs. This is the best way to get a taste of the new kids on the block!

Remember, shopping in your jammies is FUN…I’ll be in my jammies  for the next couple of days. Enjoy the day…go do something fun and remember to make memories!

Until tomorrow!

Fun – Cute & Fresh!

IMG_8639

Good Morning and today is an interesting day for me to say the least. There are 2 things that you need to know before we get to the card today (plus I spilled a water bottle on this card before I photographed it….darn – that never happens!)

#1 – The winner of Monday’s challenge…. is….(drum roll…drum roll….) MARY ANN H – and here is her card! I think that I must have scared many of you away this week as I did not have as many people summit cards but then again it’s summer and everyone’s schedules are crazy!!!

Bee

I will be sending her the banner punch and I hope that she will create many masterpieces of work from her heart…(I know she will as she ADORES paper-crafting) This is just one adorable card and it has totally made me smile!

#2 – Do you remember in January I broke my ankle?…well about 10 days ago I went to a specialist as I am still having some issues and the long story is….I need to have surgery and as you are reading this….I am probably in “la-la land” having my ankle re-broken.

Th

I will be fine and truthfully this whole thing happened so fast that I just want to get it over with and I apologize if I have not been on the computer a t0n over the past week but I have been trying to make sure that I have all of my bases covered for when I get home and go thru the recovery!

ENOUGH – think about me …but lets get to this fun card!

IMG_8628

Yesterday I share with you the dimensions for the card that I did on Saturday but I had several emails about the scoop on doing the “mosaic” style card that I stepped it up with on Sunday!

So here you go my friends…and can you see that I am using BOTH of the punches that are on the weekly deals this week…. seriously, you just cannot go wrong with our punches!

  • The base of this card is a Whisper White Notecard and Envelope
  • The Bermuda Bay is a piece that is 4 ½” X 2 ½” – Why did I pick this size???? Easy = I like to make it easy on myself with cutting out the 1” squares.

IMG_8632

  • You can see in the “strolling store” below the colors and papers I used but did you notice I used the decorative dots embossing folder on the Hello Honey Squares and also the heart in Watermelon Wonder?
  • Using the “green glue”, I placed the squares where I wanted them and because I thought there was too much space…out came the white pen and you see…I do other things than dots & dashes…it’s a “squiggle and dot” day!

IMG_8631

  • This super sweet sentiment is from the All Boxed Up stamp set…it is paired up to go with the All Boxed Up Kit (page 152) but I can clearly see this stamp set to go with many other cards…like this one today! ( I think these sentiments are super cute!)

139340G

  • A simple bow with the Bermuda Bay Bakers Twine is all that was needed…clean, fresh, fun and DONE!

Well not so fast…we have the envelope fun to do and boy is this a festive envelope.

IMG_8636

  • I stamped the front and then I went on a "search and rescue" for a small stamp and there it was – the "perfect heart" from the Tin of Cards Stamp Set…a couple of fun stamps made it fun!
  • Let's look at the back flap…I continued the theme on the back flap!….

Now we are DONE! Well….thoughts???Don't you think it is fun! I am loving all of the new papers we have- they are one right after the other…SUPER STELLAR!

Think of me today…I will be just fine…the way I told John about this is….when you have a baby the first time…you do not know what to expect…but the second time you're prepared.

I have been through this and now I am prepared….my stampin' stuff is downstairs and I have this HUGE list of wishes in my head to work on!

Until tomorrow…it a challenge day!

THE MEASUREMENTS OF THE CARD!

Now let's get to the measurements of the card that I did over the weekend! I loved it and I was super happy that many of you did as well….to refresh your memory you can click here to see Saturday's Post and below is the card that I am talking about! (I did go back and answered your comments – THANK YOU for them…I do read each and everyone.)

http://www.simplestampin.com/.a/6a017ee666297a970d01b7c79da757970b-pi

  • The card base is whisper white heavy card stock (this is a total must have – you will ADORE it) and the size is 3 1/2" X 6 1/2" – I just love odd card sizes
  • Old Olive is 2 1/4" X 6 1/4"
  • The AMAZING DSP from the English Garden is 2" X 6" ( just think – you could do 12 cards from 1 sheet of DSP – that deserves a WOOT-WOOT!)

The rest is straight forward, I would use the stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement. The color I used was Hello Honey.

  • For the bow…our bakers twine is so darn affordable (page 158 in the catalog) and I like multiple strands together…I usually take about 8" and tie a simple bow…just like a shoe!

Please feel free to email me if you have any other questions about this card.

The envelope punch board was my other friend and I like to cut off the bottom of the back flap (sometimes when you make odd size envelope, the flap get very long…I think that this adds interest as well).

I do like using a very thin bead of "green glue" just around the edges to place the DSP…let it "set up" a bit and then cut off the excess from your envelope flap!

Monday FUN!

IMG_8545
Good Monday morning to all…anyone up for a challenge? I was thinking….hmmm what could I throw your way that would be different, would make you “scratch your head”, what would make you stretch a bit!

Why do I do this? EASY PEASY…I truly believe that doing challenges helps you develop your own inner style. It is funny, when I try to do something a bit different…I find it to be frustrating and then I always go back to my clean and simple style….that works for me!

IMG_8542

Today’s challenge: Make a project and use a sentiment 3 or more times (same sentiment)…you can do it…I know you can! Please email me your project and then on Wednesday morning I will share the winners card/project and they will win a banner punch! (I use random.org to pick)

Let’s get to this sweet card…confession time, I very rarely use the banner punch and when I saw the card on page #93 in the catalog, I thought – WHY NOT????  Do you remember that 2 years ago the banner punch was a Sale-a-bration item?  (That is your luck as I have an extra one that I would love to send your way)

IMG_8546

I am just NUTS over the new Designer Series Paper Stacks. The prints are just “spot on” and I did no stamping today….just a POP using the banner punch with the Brights Designer Series Stack. (I will be offering WAVE #2 of Product Shares tomorrow)

A quick POP of a dimensional on each of them….placed them on a curve – PRESTO! The thick Bakers Twine (another new great product) created the perfect  little simple bling and a glue dot held it right in place. Did you notice that I knotted the ends of the bakers twine…just a little something different!

138434G

The size of  the card is the notecard, you know that is once on my all time favorites…remember they also come in crumb cake and WOW what a value, 20 cards and envelopes for just $5.95

Remember I shared with you that I am going to do at least 3 or more blog postings on the new stamps I share with you….well this is #2 post. It is from the stamp set One Big Meaning (remember the weekend blog post was using this!) and it is a must have set for thank you’s!

IMG_8547

You know what was my special friend to make this card? The Stamp-a-ma-jig…I know – I know….I can see many of your faces (Jeanie….your one of them) that just simply does not use it…I am the very first to admit that we all like certain tolls and we all have ones that we do not card for!

I would imagine that most of you do not like the stamp-a-ma-jig because you are not exactly sure how to use it…it is like riding a bike…get a stamp out…some ink…some scrap paper and practice – practice practice!

IMG_8548

I hope that this sweet little card touched your heart today and that you can see that less is best! I did not realize this until just now….but I was confused with the days! Today is Monday, so today is the last day for the weekly deals!

I shared with you that I am traveling….I honestly do not know what day it is but today I will be at the airport to head home and I am looking forward to logging on and reading your comments over the past several days and responding to emails. (that wait time at airports is just too long)

Triple_play_logo4649

I do hope that you play this "TRIPLE PLAY" challenge….go find a sentiment and have fun! Email me your work of art from  your heart by Tuesday at 9 p.m. eastern and on Wednesday I will announce who won and share their card!

You all continue to make me smile and make me realize that what I do makes a difference to me…and a difference to you! I am THRILLED to say that the first wave of product shares are OUT THE DOOR!!!! Woot-Woot – I felt like I was working at Jo Ann Fabrics cutting ribbon!!!

Unitl tomorrow!
