Step it up Sunday!

IMG_8532

Good Morning! Here is the stepped up version of the weekend fun! I am going to share with you a bunch of pictures as today I will let the pictures give you the inspiration and then pop back to yesterday's post to see that compared to this!

Please feel free to email me, I must say that I have not been on the computer much as I am traveling so I can check from my phone! I am sorry that the pictures are not the best but I do think that you will get "the feel"

PicMonkey Collage

The main difference is the cutting of the DSP….this is such and easy trick to do and with our trimmer…..WOWZERS – it is exact! They are 1" squares and then with the help of the "green glue", I adhered them into place! FUN…..right!?!?

IMG_8533

Can you see from the above picture how I cut off the bottom of the front part of the card  and then stamped my sentiment!. You might think that I am taking away from "writing space" but actually there is a bunch as the sentiment is so low!

IMG_8540

The sweet little flower and the bakers twine did the trick…now I ask you….do you have these accent punches…if not, you need them – they are time busters…..when in doubt….put one in!

IMG_8539

I actually really, really like both of them….how about YOU? I hope that you try this fun techinque. (just make sure you remember the way the pieces go back together)…it's a puzzle!

The green glue is a HUGE help….love that wiggle time!

IMG_8536

I hope that weekend post was a fun one for you to see. The main thing that I want to show you is that you can make clean cards and make some simple tweaks to make is a bit different.

SUPER BUSY week ahead….it's all good or should I say, it will all be good! Tomorrow is a new group of weekly deals – remember this is the last day for this batch!

Have a fabulous day! Until tomorrow…..

“Show & Tell” Saturday!

IMG_8507

It's the weekend and that means a day fun post that I like to do for you all! Today is a "simpler" version and please pop back tomorrow to see another clean and simple card….just "stepped up a bit"!

Hopefully this super simple layout will inspire you to use your Designer Series Paper. (I know you all have it….and some of you have LOTS of it) Today's paper is a beautiful new DSP called English Garden and it's a keeper!

The colors are just stunning and the richness of the prints make it stand alone like I am showcasing today! The over all size of the card is fun…a 3 1/2" X 6 1/2" card and today I am using the NEW heavy weight paper…and I LOVE IT! I ti s amazing the difference it makes and if you are layering, have no fear – it makes perfectly!

IMG_8517

Now we must talk about this stamp set…it is a keeper as well. You can never have too many thank you sentiment stamp set and this one I know will be very inky at my house! I must admit, when I first stamped it I thought I did not get an even impression and since I was using the stamp-a-jig I stamped it again…but it is the way the stamp is made! (Silly Susan)

Can't you see a multitude of great projects made with this set? Remember, my goal with the new stamp sets is to share with you at least 3 different posts on a given stamp set…this way – you can see the versatility of your purchases.

IMG_8511

Having an "odd size" card always make the recipient feel special…think about it – if you opened your mailbox and saw a normal size card or an odd size card, I am sure we both know which one you would open first. The envelope punch board makes life sooo darn easy!

You can see in the below photo, I carried bit the DSP and the sentiment to my envelope….such a simple thing to do but it carries soooo much!

IMG_8518

I know that many of you have shared with me your struggle with using DSP…just go for it and let it be the focal part…we have so many great papers – go ahead and show them off!

IMG_8506

The tip that I can give you is…purchase the bakers twine in as many colors as you like…it is sooooooo affordable but at the same time it is over the moon effective! I simply took 3 pieces and tied a super simple bow (just like your shoe…that's my speed)

IMG_8508

Well that's it – one super simple yet clean card that carried a huge punch! I hope to see you back tomorrow for the "stepped up versions"…I think that you will like that as much as this card!

Please feel free to leave me a comment. How do you feel about using DSO as a foal part…are you comfortable with it? How about giving it a try – is a fun and fast way to whip up a card!

Until tomorrow!

“Morgan” is my star….

IMG_8467

I have a very special "little friend" and her name is Morgan….she is the little "grasshopper" that rides at the barn. She actually just turned 13 but she is super tiny….if she weighs 80 lbs…that's a good day! Morgan adores my daughter Hannah and she is always so kind to our horses!

I needed to make her a special card and "purple and rhinestones" seemed fitting for a special young lady!

While Hannah has been gone at her internship this summer, Morgan totally pampers and loves Stanley, (our horse). Morgan LIGHTS UP when she has the opportunity to ride him. Her Mom often sends me videos of them riding and I melt when I hear her say, I love you Stanley!!!

IMG_8471

When I made this card it was super fast and came together like a "Peanut Butter and Jelly" card….(that's what I say when something is just so easy and natural to me.)

I am up to walking Oscar (our horse we are rehabbing) for 45 minutes…trust me…just walking for 45 minutes gives you plenty of time to think about things and I "planned" out the card in my head so when I came up to the house…it was a quick "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED"

I made her some Banana Bread and wanted a fun card to tuck under the bow (I am going to use the Bermuda Bay Stripe Wide Ribbon) and I know that it will look super fun! Remember….it's all about the total package sometimes….taking a couple extra minutes for details "pulls it all together" and you will be happy and the person that receives it will feel super special!

This is a great stamp set and I am thrilled that it is carried over. It is one of those "sleepers" to me and I have used the vase and flowers before for you on my blog and you all have enjoyed it! It now comes as a bundle…so if you do not already have this punch set, now is the time to buy them together as you will save 15%

You can see that I POPPED up some of the stars and some I just left flat. Doing this adds instant dimension and fun. Did you notice that I quickly stamped the stars in the Gorgeous Grunge splatter…

IMG_8468

Here is a great easy tip! You can see that I stamped the sentiment in Bermuda Bay….I took the stamp and stamped the star in Rich Razzleberry on a piece of scraps. I then did a quick "fussy cut" and adhered one down flat and then the other I popped up!

WHY DID I DO THIS???? Well, when you look at it from the side it looks much more finished and clean. I think that seeing the purple flat and then the popped up one shows that you took some extra time for the details…remember – we all love and appreciate the details!!!

IMG_8469

I must admit, I am much more a "pearls gal" that a "rhinestone gal" but I think that girls of this age really like the sparkle! Morgan is a sparkle to me and I know that she will love and appreciate this card. I am getting ready to take Stanley to Georgia for Hannah to ride him while she is there at her internship and I know that Morgan is going to miss him.

We appreciate Morgan and her love and kindness she gives to our horses…I know that she misses Hannah as well and is excited for her to come back in August. It is always so special to see a bond and friendship a "grasshopper" has for an older girl…(Hannah thinks is special too)

IMG_8470

You know what the weekend is about….a Show and Tell Saturday and then It will Step it Up on Sunday! I am doing the "Happy Dance" as FINALLY…my order is to be here tomorrow! I am super excited to see some "new friends" in person!

I know that you all are busy and I know that there are so many choices of fabulous blogs etc….but THANK YOU for taking the time to pop in….I deeply appreciate YOU and YOUR TIME! Please feel free to email me…until tomorrow!

Below you will see the supplies that I used for today's card….shopping in your jammies is fun and "in style"

PPA Color Day!

IMG_8453

I have a huge confession…yesterday went by like a BUZZ but it was a fabulous day and I am super excited to have some "me" time today to go thru the Blog Hop…It is always such a treat to see what everyone is up to!

I went to beautiful Middleburg, VA. to see Hannah's horse being ridden in a Horse Show…I was afraid that I was going to miss him go and I got there at 2 p.m. and he did not even show until 7 p.m.! He was amazing…he made me smile….and I was happy!!! I did not get home until after 9 and knew I need to whip up a fun card for you!

Here is the colors that the Pals Paper Art are working with this week. As I was driving home I was thinking what to make…then I thought – USE A SINGLE STAMP and keep it simple….that is exactly what I did!

Screen Shot 2015-06-10 at 10.18.42 PM

A great tip that I can give to you is….SINGLE STAMPS are "keepers" – WHY??? They can simply stand on their own! There are times that we need something in a jif and that is exactly what I did today! The fun came by making it into a square card.

IMG_8449

Look at how simple this is but it is still super-de-duper cute! To add interest, I did a simple scoring on both sides of the stamped image. I did a super quick "pull together" of all 3 colors and then the accents of the white gel pen with my dashes…..made it POP!

IMG_8457

Please do ever feel that each and every time you make a project that you need to recreate the wheel….do what works for you. I have shared this many times before…by playing around with challenges like this and also my Monday "personal" challenges…it does help you develop your own style…..

IMG_8454

Because this card was so simple, I thought  that I would add a bit of interest in the envelope! Using the envelope punch board to make the envelope, I cut a 1/4" strip of Early Espresso and then added a piece of the subtles super fun designer series paper stack!

IMG_8460

This little guy is a super cute stamp and makes up a sweet card. We all can use "Think of you" cards and I bet you are smiling….how do you not like a dear bear.

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions….and please do not forget about the amazing opportunity to get 2 free stamp sets, this truly is the best promotion that Stampin' Up! has had over the past year….you have NOTHING TO LOSE and so much to gain….

Until tomorrow….!
