It’s “Art’s” Special Day!

IMG_7644

Wowzers…was it fun to sit down last night and read all of the comments that you all left yesterday! There are sooooo many great ideas and it really made me thing of more things that I am hoping for – I will share with you some of them after I whip through this super cute card!

Today is a very special day for a co-worker to my wonderful husband. One of the founding partners of his firm is retiring today. His name is Art and he has been such an amazing mentor and an inspiration to John as he has grown his business.

He has said for years….this is my last Tax Season and sure enough he still comes back but now he has set the date (today) and John is planning a special celebration for him. (Trust me, they both will be in tears when he hears the words that John is saying)

I told you that I love BIG stamp sets…and this is a true blue keeper in my eyes and darn, I sure hope it is carried over in the new catalog! It is appropriately called Big On You. I knew that this would be PERFECT for a card for Art as it truly is his day!

You can see that this card came together in a snap and uses minimal products! It has been a while since I have used Sahara Sand and this is perfect with the Adventure Abound DSP Stack.

I really wanted to use a framelit to POP the sentiment out and the largest square scalloped Framelit was perfect for it! This is something that I do not use often as truthfully I forget about it.

IMG_7650

Did you notice something that I rarely do? I sponged the edges with Mossy Meadow to help off set the sentiment against the DSP. It was the perfect "little something" that I needed. I also "doubled up" the dimensionals to really make it pop.

I was very happy with the end result as this is perfect for Art and I know that John's written words in this card will mean a lot to him. Art is a wonderful man, a great father and husband but now it is time for him to enjoy life!

Today's card is a "less is best" card and I hope that you enjoyed it! I just adore an over-sized card, there is something special about holding a BIG card in your hand.

Now let's get to great ideas of wishing….(remember when you see this post today I have yet to see the new catalog) so as I type this I am still "Writing a list for Santa"

Confession time again…I am having a super hard time focusing on stamping as I am like a little kid at Christmas on Christmas Eve just dreaming…imagining…what the NEW catalog has to offer!

Tumblr_lhvx78u7G11qfu4j7

One of the perks of being a Stampin Up! Demonstrator is that we can preview the new catalog early….and then pre-order new products early and then tease you with samples until the new catalog is unveiled online in June!

Well…the time that SUD can view it online is tomorrow…and I have CLEARED my schedule (which I know is totally silly) but what can I say  – I love new goodies and I love Stampin' Up!

No card today but a chance for you to win some BLOG CANDY from me…just leave me a comment on what you want to see most in the new catalog and the random winner will win a set of Paper Swatches that I make personally of the NEW CATALOG PAPER offerings!!!

Th

I WILL do a paper and ribbon share with the new catalog and we all know how wonderful it is to have a sample of all of the NEW paper in handy swatches.

I thought having a broad topic like "What do you want to see most" will really drum up some great discussion!

I think that it is very evident that we all adore Stampin' Up! and I know that you will enjoy receiving swatches of all of the new DSP. (please know that I will be send them to you once the new catalog is unveiled to all)

(I couldn't resist – I love the original Willy Wonka)

Willy-wonka-i-want-it-now-veruca-salt

I will pick the winner using random.org and let you know on Friday who won -  so please leave me a comment (today and tomorrow – this way you will have (2) chances) letting me know what you want to see….if it is a certain stamp set…a certain framelit…a certain new tool etc….let's just chat away!

This is a win-win for all of us…we can get some great conversation going and hear what what makes us tick!

Personally I am hoping for more large stamps (sentiments) that really make a huge impact…(see tomorrows post) and also more script framelits…new punches and yummy-yummy new In Colors that will heal my wounds of losing Strawberry Slush!

Time for Monday's challenge winner…..drumroll…drumroll…..

And the winner is……

Rosanne Mulhern….woot-woot to you and on Friday you will see the parade and trust me, her card is super cute! Please know that I do a random pick and I do appreciate all that participate. One thing that was a comment heard many times…it was hard to do this challenge!

You all are the best….and remember, being a hobby demonstrator is a win-win….why not take a test drive and you too can see the new catalog tomorrow….please feel free to email me if you want more details of the fun!

Rev up your engines…

IMG_7639

What's up with this post title? Well, confession time – I literally had 10 minutes to make a card and I had already decided that I wanted to use the All Abloom DSP Stack – with no other thought other than that!

I call this a formula card…so be a race car and rev up your engines and keep this layout in the back of your mind. This is sooooo darn easy, I feel rather silly taking a post about this but I want to share with you how easy you can whip up a card and use it for many occasions!

IMG_7632

Let's get going…This stamp set, Really Good Greetings (just $11.71 for the clear mount) is on the good-bye list and you can see in the below image of the sentiments, it is a fun stamp set! I have made some really cute cards with this set and I am sad that it is leaving (I think it has some very unique sentiments)

The key element on making this card is to make sure that you place plenty of dimensionals so the DSP paper part really lifts up without any sagging around the punched out part!

IMG_7635

The overall card is just a good old A-2 Vertical with the Mossy Meadow a smidge smaller and then the DSP a smidge smaller! I then let the wonderful punches that we have do their trick! You can see the sizes I used in the product images below!

Being able to use punches saves sooooo much time – when time is against you, pullout the key simple and fast tools that we have…and that is what punches are for me!

I "doubled up" the dimensionals for the circle part so it would pop up higher. This simple tip makes the sentiment POP and come to life!

IMG_7636

The other fun thing I did was add some interest with the Bakers Twine…a couple wraps around and then I tie a simple bow and then just used a glue dot to hold it in place! I always say that I am bow challenged so this works for me – why should I stress in trying to make sure that the whole twine stays in place!

IMG_7637

I told you that this is super simple….all that is left is the envelope! A quick addition of DSP on the back flap was the finale!

IMG_7642

Now let's get what today is….the unveiling of NEW weekly deals! I say yippee skippee – Click here to see whats on sale this week…what is your favorite?

Remember that the retiring list in melting…. click here for the stamps you will see that there are many accessories that are already sold out. I am going to miss strawberry slush – I just cannot get enough of it and I hope that this card popped a smile on your face!

Thanks for sharing a cup of coffee with me today, I hope that I have inspired you that simple is just fine!!! Feel free to leave a comment and let me know if you also think punches are lisfesavers!

Until tomorrow!

One Color Monday Fun!

IMG_7306

It's here – MONDAY….and a time for you to play a personal challenge with me and all you have to do is email me a picture of your card that you create (You have until Tuesday at 9 p.m. eastern time) and on Wednesday, I will announce the winner and you can win a white gel pen! (so you can dash and dot your heart away!)

Let's get to it – your challenge this week is to use 1 color of a base and just one color of an ink! Today I used my favorite, Strawberry Slush, (I am boo-hoo that is is going away) and I used the white embossing as my ink today!

IMG_7299

The size of this card is a 3 1/2" X 6" (I adore odd sizes) and the next layer down is just 1/4" smaller. To me, this off setting with a layer is "my cup of tea" – it never lets me down….ever!

The stamp set, Four You is on the retired list and I must admit – I am a toddler with their lip down as I adore this set! (If I were you ,I would definitely get this stamp) – the sentiments are so basic yet the fonts are fun.

IMG_7304

I decided to do this entire card with heat embossing. Not only is it fun – it always creates a WOW factor. I highly recommend Stampin' Ups! heat tool as it gets super hot and with having (2) temperature controls, it allows you to control and get the "right heat" that you need for the paper you are working with.

With one flower I use 1 dimensional and the other, I doubled it up – love the effect it gives…The layering of the colors and the cotton white twine makes the card festive and fun with a super simple bow!

IMG_7305

I know that many of you think that we have sooo many floral stamp sets, (and I do agree) but….I adore this one – Petal Potpourri,   I am so surprised at how many times I have reached to this stamp set since it came out with the Occasions Catalog/

It comes right now as  a bundle, but there is no guarantee that it will remain a bundle (which saves you an instant 15%)

I hope that you will give this challenge a whirl = I am always so amazed at the wonderful work that you do and it makes me so happy to know that you are reaching out to try new things!

This is the way we learn, this is the way we grow to develop our "inner style"….please do not feel that you need to "heat emboss" – just try to use one color of card stock, and one color of ink  = HAVE FUN!

Please email me you work of Art – here is to a NEW week, let's make it a great one.
