Step it up Sunday!

IMG_7615

Well….I think that yesterday's card was fun…and I know that there are not many changes for today but I hope that you can see that making subtle changes and also changing the orientation of the card makes a huge difference.

When I first started with card making, I always just made cards in the regular horizontal position like yesterdays card! WHY??? I really do not know, it was probably just the way that I learned and truthfully I think I was just comfortable with it!

Let's see what today's card is about…I simply changes it to a vertical A-2 card and then added the Rich Razzleberry as a mat and presto – a different look.

IMG_7611

I hope that you can see that making a super quick and super simple change will give you a different look. I invite you to play with paper. Paper is a very fast and easy way to change the feel of your work. (Remember, when you have a large mat that is going to be covered up…punch it out to save paper)

IMG_7612

Basically the card is the same….same dots around the edge (I love my dots) and the same with the flowers – one is mounted flat, the other "double" dimensionals. I think using the mat of color gives instant depth.

IMG_7613

This is a super simple card but a card layout that you will use over and over – basic shapes…great stamps…a winner every time.

Envelope love in 2 ways – the back flap embossed with the fun polka dots and the front with the stamps that I already had out…so why not!?!?

IMG_7618

Please click here to see yesterdays post to see the difference between the (2) cards. I personally think that you would not go wrong with either one. I think it is fun changing the orientation of the cards and please have fun with using all sorts of DSP and colors of paper!

Remember, the retiring list is out and there are many stamp sets that many of you love so you better snatch them up now and also the accessory retiring list is M E L T I N G ….these are while supplies last!

I hope that you have enjoyed this weekend fun of cards…which one do you like??? Do you tend to do more vertical or horizontal cards??? Feel free to leave a comment or send me an email!

Until tomorrow!

Show and Tell Saturday!

IMG_7602

Here you go my friends, it is the day that I share with you a simple card and then tomorrow please pop back and you can see the same card…just "stepped up" a bit! You just cannot get anymore basic than this sweet card.

This is what I call a formula card and a layout that you can use over and over – simple change up the stamps and color schemes and wowzers – you have a new card and your secret is safe with me.

IMG_7598

Today's card is a regular A-2 card in Crushed Curry and then the white is just a smidge smaller. The super fun DSP is from the Flower Pot Designer Series Paper.

The polka dots are not only fun, they are classic and timeless.

IMG_7607

The (2) stamp sets I used are Sassy Salutations and Flower Shop and YIPPEE – they are both staying in the new catalog….WOOT-WOOT.

Remember we have a punch that POPS out these flowers in a snap! I am soooo darn excited to see what new stamps and punches SU is going to come out with…

IMG_7603

Can you see that I kept one of the flowers flat and then on the other one, I "doubled" up a stampin' dimensional in the center? This works every time to create a fun depth.

For the centers of the flowers, I used up scraps of Crushed Curry and the 1/2" punch. Darn, those punches sure do come in handy!

IMG_7604

The envelope was a double whammy today! I used crushed curry, the Polka Dot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Big Shot to create a simple, clean and fun back flap.

On the front I used the stamps (as they are already inked up so why not???) as it is the perfect finishing touch.

IMG_7606

Now can't you see that this card is timeless and wow, how much fun it would be with different colors! This is another one of those cards to make up a bunch and keep them on hand, "just in case"!!!

Do you ever make up a bunch of cards and give as a gift? This would be one of them to keep up your sleeve. I am excited for you to pop back tomorrow to see what changes I have made.

Please feel free to email me if I can be of help, enjoy your Saturday and I deeply appreciate you popping in and supporting my Stampin' Up! fun. It is my goal to make you feel a sense of accomplishment and encourage you to continue to reach, stretch and try to make this whole card making rewarding!

Until tomorrow!

Please remember that these fun little challenges that I do are a way for you to try something new, have time for yourself in creating and most importantly, HAVE FUN!

Super card Mary Ann – I love the colors and the amount of neutral space ! The colors are great ad WOW, what can I say about those dashes and dots! WOOT-WOOT!

Bridget lives in France and is hoping to be back in the states soon. We get to skype each other and it is a true testament on how this "Stampin' Up! Thing" has given me the opportunity to have cyber friends from all over! I love how she was not afraid to use a variety of DSP – super job and the ribbon pulled it all together!

Here is a FUN card! Another one that shows that using DSP is ok! I know that we are afraid to use it in the body of our cards many times, but this is a great example with lots of dimension and her coloring….is just great! Fun card Roberta!

Sometimes it is hard for me to edit your cards that you send and I apologize that I was not able to make this card bigger to see all of the detail (when I tried, it became blurry) Chris, I AM SOOOOO PROUD OF YOU! This is the 1st time that Chris has submitted a card and this is so fun! LOVE the technique, (I need to do this again, it's been a while) Fun way to use up paper and I love how she used the ribbon to break up the "star burst" effect from the sentiment!

Nancy is a stamper after my own heart! Wen she sits down to make a card….she makes 3! These are wonderful and I hope that they inspire everyone to make up a bunch of them to keep on hand! Clean, classic and fun! Love this card….

Now who does not like cupcakes? This fun and cheery card is filled with dimension (love the stars embossing folder) Isn't it clever how Ellen "split" the white scallop oval to make the sentiment POP! Coloring an image like this is fun as it goes very quick but the little pop of red makes the card smile!

This card is another great example of a super card to make many of and keep on hand, "just in case"! Cutting out stars is a great way to use up scraps and then the way that Teresa stamped the Happy Birthday was brilliant making it in the banner shape! (Look at this ADORABLE envelope – LOVE IT)

The next 3 cards are from the 3 Amigos (This is what I call them) and they are 3 friends/sisters that love to stamp and always share there work with me and I adore their love for paper crafting and also their friedship that they have!

Sharon's card is FUN to the max – I instantly smiled when I saw the polka dots! Isn't it amazing how you can use fun paper/washi tape and a simple sentiment to make a statement? Sharon did just that!!!

Karen's card is adorable! The houndstooth DSP is perfect to make this "tie" – very, very clever and the sentiment POPS! How about that envelope! I am soooo happy that you all jazz up your envelopes!

IMG_1111

The last amigo….Robyn. She made this card fro her sons Birthday and I know that he is going to cherish it, especially since it was made by MOM! Love how she used the lines in the DSO and then a circle to POP the sentiment – I call this a "keeper" layout to use over and over again!

I am so proud of so many of you with using DSP as a major focal point to your card! Rosanne shows up how keeping it super simple is super effective! This card is a great example of "less is best" – super colors for a masculine card!

Well…there you go! I hope that you all had fun looking at other peoples work! I try my best to edit your pictures but sometimes it is hard….please know that I appreciate you trying a challenge!

I hope to see you tomorrow as you know what the weekend is….Show & Tell Saturday and Step It Up Sunday and I think that you are going to see what's up!

Remember, the retired goodies (CLICK HERE FOR THE STAMPS and CLICK HERE FOR THE ACCESSORIES) are going…going….going….so do not wait! The clearance rack has some new goodies as well, I know that yesterday it was hit hard but I would still take a peak!

It is super chilly here on the East Coast but it is beautiful!!! Enjoy your day…..

PPA Thursday…”hello there”!!!

IMG_7555

Thursday fun with the Pals Paper Art Challenge!!!… – this is just a great sketch and I do hope that you play along…we all know that there is all sorts of talent out there  -WOWZERS – the Monday challenge is sooooo fun and I appreciate all of the stampers that "played"

Screen Shot 2015-04-22 at 2.08.52 PM

I am going to do a "parade of beauties" tomorrow as I truly appreciate you taking your time to create and challenge yourself! I did realize that I simply do not do enough masculine cards – so we are just going to have to change that!

The random winner is Mary Ann Hutchinson….and it is a super great layout! Let me refresh you…Mary Ann is the "sheep stamper" – I still have the one I call "Rod Stewart"  – his hair is straight up and I laugh and think of the great day I had creating the flock!

You will want to pop back to see the beauties as well as I will let you know who won the (2) $25.00 shopping sprees from me! (sorry – I said it was going to be today but wow – it was a bigger fish to fry)

IMG_7553

Let's get to today card! Super clean, super simple….a definite "Susan" card and it is showcasing some of the "bye-bye" products! This Stamp Set is a hostess set and you can still be able to order it with a qualifying order. I think that the sentiments are fabulous….so darn tootin' practical (this is one that I will keep as it is a super fast card to make up!)

Hello There Clear-Mount Stamp Set

The overall card size is a 5" square card and today I did not make an envelope (you know how to do it…the envelope punch board to the rescue)! I must admit, Strawberry Slush is my favorite and I am going to miss it so….but have no fear – we will have new and exciting colors…any guesses???

This is a very straight forward card, just layers (remember to use the centers of your layers to save paper) and then I also used the circle framelits to cut out sentiment. I must say, I adore the "stacking framelits" as they make our creating easier!

IMG_7556

I figured by now that you are tired of my dots and dashes…so I decided to do "squiggles and dots" to change things up…and – it worked! I was happy with the end result! Please, please try working with the white gel pen…it is going to be your friend – remember that it takes a bit longer to dry!

IMG_7559

You just cannot go wrong with the basics…a great stamp set, the big shot, framelits, stampin' trimmer. adhesive and stampin' dimensions…a great card each and every time!

This has been a fun and busy week and I am super excited for the upcoming future with the new catalog soon…real soon!  Click here to see the most up to date status of the retiring products…one the far right you will see if it is still available!

Please pop back tomorrow….the parade…and the winners! (we all are winners!!!)
