My kind of card…

IMG_5138

Now this is a "Susan kind of card"...it makes me smile, it makes me happy, I adore the colors and I just love the simplicity of it! This is what I call a 1-2-3 card and I never get tired of these "secret weapons"

The key and secret of this card is to pick a small pattern paper and it you can find a pattern (like this one) that works both horizontally as well as vertically as you can get 10 cards out of 1 sheet of DSP! This card is all sneak peaks from the new Occasions catalog and Sale-a-bration….the best news is…a week from today you can order all of these goodies!

IMG_5139

Let's get going! I hope that you keep this "formula" for future cards!

  • The base of the card is my go to – Whisper white Notecards and envelopes….simply could not, would not be without them – I just love them!
  • The "star" and focal part of the card is the GREAT paper from the Sale-a-bration catalog…it is called Best Year Ever and it is a fabulous paper….remember, you can get the swatches of this paper free by ordering the color swatches from my product share and trust me….when you see them – you will be doing the happy dance! Click here to see the post!

IMG_5143

TIP ALERT: You can 10 cuts of the DSP from one sheet of paper. The size is 3" X 4 1/2". This is how you do it!

Take the DSP and make a 3" cut and then 4 1/2" and you will be left with a 4 1/2" cut…..cut the 3" piece into (2) 3" X 4 1/2" and then to the 4 1/2" strips…cut them intp (3) equal pieces = PRESTO…you will have 10 cuts!

  • I matted the DSP with Pool Party just a 1/4" larger = 3 1/4" X 4 3/4" Please do not forget that this is a perfect time to use the "center" of this Pool Party piece to pop out punches….framelits etc….as it will be totally covered by the DSP!

IMG_5145

  • The focal part is the tag made by the Angled Tag Topper Punch. I POPPED them out with both the white and the Coastal Cabana….and I trimmed the white a "smidge" smaller to create the look I was going for!

IMG_5148

  • Now to stamping – the fun part! This is a sneak peak from the Sale-a-bration catalog and this great stamp set is FREE with a $50.00 order. This is a super fun stamp – love the font – love the message….

TIP ALERT: Stampin' Up! is GREAT! This stamp set that I have used is called Best Day Ever and the BEST news is that Stampin' Up is offering this set to you in all 3 options….clear, wood and photopolymer! Which one would you pick?

  • Using the Sale-a-bration ribbon which is another freebie….and also yours free from me with the purchase of the ribbon share….is the perfect POP of color! I then tied a simple bow with the new white twine that is in the Occasions Catalog!

IMG_5142

  • I need to show you  the inside…a simple stamp of the other sentiment in this set is the perfect touch. I am sure that you can think of so many people to send this card to!

A card would not be a "Susan Card" without a FUN envelope! I did a double whammy today….( I just could not resist) A quick liner to the outer flap of the envelope and then a quick stamp to the front is all that was needed!

IMG_5143

Don't you agree…that this just makes the whole project! This card is a super cinch to make up LOTS OF….just do it in steps..

  • Pull your paper out and cut it
  • Use up your scraps to make the tag
  • Do all of your stamping at one time
  • Line all of your envelopes at one time

Remember….break your projects down and you will be a happy stamper! So….what do you think? Are you smiling….do you like it….please leave me a comment!

To me it is so practical and fun! Please remember today (Tuesday) is the magical day that Stampin' Up! offers the new weekly deals! Thank you Stampin' Up! for doing this for all of us! Click here to see this weeks  goodies!

Please review the following options I am offering and then email me back and please put in the subject line Occasions Paper & Ribbon Share…this way I can "spot it" in a jif and put you down for a share.

Please do not wait until the last minute for this 1st wave of the share. You will see that I am offering you "bonus" pieces with each collection and with that said, I earn the Sale-a-bration items just like you do…so be early to be able to get the bonuses!

IMG_5094

Before we get to this super cute card that I have for you today…the mystery is solved. Yesterday I shared with you how frustrated I was with the picture quality of yesterday’s card – well you all know that I get myself in a fluster with technology and when I was taking pictures of today’s card – the same thing happen…..PEEP JAMES to the rescue – I had some filter turned on that was making my pictures "wonkie"

So the good news is…my pictures are great for today…(well a heck of a lot better than yesterday) and I hope that you enjoy! To me, this is a great card for Valentines ….and also a great card for just letting someone know how much you care!

Please make sure that you read to the end as you will see where I was inspired! This was too funny, with the Holiday Card Swap, there were 2 cards made with this technique and today's I am sharing what Jeanie made! You know that she is a huge inspiration to me and truly someone that makes me feel so blessed!

IMG_5088

This is another great "formula card" so please remember this gem! Let's get going!

  • The (real red) is a flat piece of card-stock measuring 5 1/2" X 4 1/4"
  • The whisper white is 5 1/4" X 4" and then embossed with the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder (LOVE this folder)
  • Taking Jeanie's lead the Deco Framelts was the backdrop of the sentiment focal point. Using the necessary tools for heat embossing…the magic happened!
  • To make the points….easy! All you need is (2) pieces of paper that are 4" X 3" and then score at 1' and then fold in~ look at the below picture and you will see how to fold, but also how you can "snip" them off like I did today! This super clean and crisp stripe paper is from the new paper stack in the Occasions Catalog called Stacked with Love.

(This is a great paper stack and I will be offering it in swatches as well as full sheets with the paper and ribbon share I will be offering….I will blog about it soon)

IMG_5077

Place some "green glue" on the scored piece and adhere it to the white piece before putting it all together on the red piece. (It sounds super complicated but it really is not)

jIMG_5098

  • To add some interest, I used the smaller framelit and then embossed again with the sentiment! Fun….right?????

I realize that this card limits you to the ability to write a message and signature…..no worries – simply add a piece of white to the back of the care and you will have plenty of room to write a longer note!

IMG_5100

Now let's get to Jeanie's Card…is this a keeper or what! She is truly the best and I am so thankful for her in soooo many ways! She is leaving this morning to be with family in the North….safe and fun travels my friend!

Now we learned yesterday that Karen Hallam has a blog…..now we need to get Jeanie to do the same as her talents are amazing!

This is not only a beautiful card…but the "formula" is stellar for other cards! I adore the gold sheets for the "joy" – so clean and classic!

IMG_5091

IMG_5089

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions and I hope that this "sneak peak" of products that you will be able to order starting January 6th inspires you – they are….total keepers!

If you have ordered from me in the past 6 months, you will receive your catalogs this week along with a goodie from the Sale-a-bration catalog! LOVE the collection this year!

If you are not currently working with a Demonstrator, please email me and I will be happy to send you the (2) new catalogs! Enjoy the day….our puzzle is "blugging" along…..until tomorrow!

Super Simple Saturday that is WOW!

IMG_5069

Happy Saturday…I am super happy to share this great card with you today for many reasons…this is the type of card that I call a "formula" that you need to keep for future cards…for all different occasions – this is the kind of card that I refer to as a "keeper"

NOTE: I have had a terrible time getting a good picture of this card…I have taken pictures in 3 different lights and I am super frustrated with the end result. This is truly a beautiful card in person, sorry!

Several months ago I received the below card from Karen Hallam. Karen is one of my downline that lives in beautiful California and the minute I saw this not only did I fall in love with the layout…I knew that I would blog about ir in the future.

IMG_5061

Karen makes beautiful cards that are always "clean and classic", she does not have a blog but I wish she did as I know that you would adore her work!

Today I am going to share with you the dimensions from start to finish as I really want you to make this card! Have fun with different DSP and your colors. The other thing that is great about this card is the fact that you do not have a bunch of "bulk" to the card – easily a 1 stamp card!

IMG_5065

Let's get going! I will put in parenthesis the colors I used for today but I encourage you to keep these measurements for future cards!

  • The base is 9 3/4" X 4 1/4" and then scored at 5 1/2". (Sahara Sand)
  • The White inside piece is 5" X 3 3/4"
  • The outer layers, solid color (Bermuda Bay) is a 3 3/4" square and the DSP (NEW Sale-a-bration paper, Best Year Ever, that is GORGEOUS)is a 3 1/2" square.
  • The sentiment part…outer part (Sahara Sand) is 3 3/4" X 1 1/2" and the white is 3 1/2" X 1 1/4"

That is the formula now just have fun with your sentiment and your embellishments is desired!

IMG_5071

Today I am using the Fabulous Four Stamp Set, I adore this set and it is simply a must have! I showcased this set for my Stamp of the Month Club this month, truly a very versatile set.

The punches I used today are the Petite Petals Punch, the Owl Punch for the centers of the flowers and the Itty Bitty Accents Punch…all 3 of these are "must haves" as they are super-duper fillers!

IMG_5073

Well…thoughts?!?!? Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know how you like it! I can see so many different cards made from this formula…thinking of you and Birthday for sure! I think that this will be a card layout that I will use next month for the Breast Cancer Cards – the ladies will enjoy putting the layers together!

Are you as confused with the day of the week as I am? Wow, when a holiday hits everything gets all twisted around.

We are still having a great family time together making the most of everyday! Our 2,000 piece puzzle is slowly coming together and tonight is GAME NIGHT….I love playing games!
