Tips and Tricks of the sweet little bow….

Th

I am so tootin' glad that so many of you enjoyed the Happy New's Card from yesterday and I had many comments and emails about it that I wanted to share with you some tips and tricks… (I honesty have not played with it a bunch but I knew that it needed to come to my home when I saw it in the catalog)

IMG_5165

It is funny…the "larger verion" of this little gem gets overlooked and I am guilty as charged…I do not think that I blogged about it once this holiday season but it is in the catalog and I will say…it is overlooked!

To me…the key tool for both of these "big and little bows" is the bone folder!

The other "KEY" tip is to have your card "hand stamped" at the Post Office so it will not go through a machine! (I have a great little Post Office and I do this all the time….trust me – it is worth standing in line to do this for your cards!!!)

You need to "work the fibers of the paper" in order to give it that "just right" feel! The other key are glue dots..these makes it super fast and DONE!

When you pop it out…this is what you get! You will need to pop out 2 x's to create a bow…and if you want a color coordinating one….make the adjustments!

Now to the Bone Folder, just work the paper in both directions to get it very soft and pliable…this will help with "fru-fruing" the bow if it gets squished when mailing! You can see in the below picture that the paper is very broken down.

Here is another "Secret Weapon" that I have in my work area….it is sheet of very thin foam that I bought from Amazon…(I am an Amazon junkie) and this helps with mailing! It is the super thin foam that can be put in between plates so they do not get chipped.

If you ggogle Amazon, here is the name -  Bankers Box Smooth Move Cushion Foam, 12 Inches x 40 Feet (7712101) – it goes a L O N G way so maybe go in with a friend (I often just cut a little piece to go over a pearl etc…..)

You can see that I took a very small piece and rolled it in the loop. After I did that, I simply pressed it down gently before putting it in an envelope! This is a big help and I have also given you more options in the below photo.

So sorry for the late post…I am telling you – we are only in the 2nd day of the New Year and I feel like I need a vacation!  The things that happen to me…but I would not change it for the world!

If you follow my blog…we rescued a Jack Russell at Thanksgiving…(Rosie) – She was "fixed" on the 31st and we were able to pick her up yesterday morning.

Being that we are "animal" people…we knew that something wasn't right with her last night so needless to say that we were up with her – Hannah and I just returned home from the Vets and they needed to hydrate her as well as put her on antibiotics.

It's a "girls" day….she is all bundled up…all 8lbs. of her with me in my work area!

Hopefully this post is of help to you and once again, Stampin' Up! did it again by coming out with another great punch….

Remember to leave a comment for the "Blog Candy" posts #1 & #2  – tomorrow I will announce the winner! Many thanks for your patience today and please share my Blog and love of Simple Stampin' with your family and firends! Enjoy the day!

Blog Candy…part #2 – Happy New Year!

http://www.simplestampin.com/.a/6a017ee666297a970d01b7c72ad64d970b-pi

Hello again, this is the 2nd post that I am posting for the day and I apologize that this is so late getting out to you! Please click here to see the 1st post as it was the PPA Challenge.

I did a quick "scan" of comments and I see that many have asked about the mailing of this. Tomorrow I will do a quick Blog post on this adorable little bow and what it looks like when it is punched out etc….and talk about the mailing.

Because this post is soooooo late getting to you – I will give you another day to leave a comment for the #2nd day of Blog Candy(this post)….Remember, you will have (2) chances to win so click to the 1st post if you missed it. I have been totally enjoying reading the comments of the things that you love….

Today let's talk about the 3 Stampin Up! TOOLS that we have that you could not live without! This one is easy for me (well I think it is)

  1. Stampin' Trimmer – Could not….would not be without it – SIMPLY the BEST on the Market!
  2. Big Shot – He IS my MAIN MAN in my craft area….I refer to him as Mr. Big Shot!
  3. Stamp-a-ma-jig – I just LOVE this little piece of plastic – to me is is the "shining star" to great cards!

Well….what about YOU? Please leave a comment so we all can see which tools that you could not live without! The 3 that I picked hold true to my philosophy of the basics! They will never let you down!

Th

Here is the Blog Candy for today! A dozen handmade cards from ME! This alwasy seems to be a hit and it is my pleasure to send them to you!

Because of the lateness of this post, I will not announce the winner until Saturday morning….this should give people plenty of time to check their email.

We have had a rather rough start to the New Year…A family friend passed away this morning from a very short battle leaving 2 young boys…please keep her in your thoughts and prayers – very, very sad.

Happy New Year again, and I look forward to hearing the 3 tools that you couldn't be without! Until tomorrow – it will be a short but hopefully helpful post for you!

Happy New Year with the PPA!

Woot-Woot…it is the NEW YEAR! What a great way to start the New Year with a Pals Paper art Challenge. Please make sure that you pop over to the PPA Website to see not only what the design team came up with…but to see the inspiration that others did as well – a total inspiration to the max!

Today is a Color Challenge using Silver, Wisteria Wonder and Night of Navy. When I saw the colors, I was challenged! First – I did not have any silver paper left and Wisteria Wonder is not a color that I use often (sorry Arianne)! The minute I saw this little bow punch, I knew a super simple New Years Card would be in the works!

This will be my 1st post of 2 today, as later I will share with you part #2 of my Blog Candy saying goodbye to 2014 and Hello to 2015! You can have (2) chances to win so make sure that you check them out!

This is a SUPER SIMPLE card that focuses on a "sneak peak" that you will be able to order starting next Tuesday, January 6th! You are going to LOVE the new catalog and the sale-a-bration items are….3 simple letters – WOW!

Here you go my friends! You could easily switch up the bow tie and place a simple flower, birthday candle or actually nothing at all – just let the embossing part do it's thing (heck – you could use 2 colors and adhere them together with Sticky Strip as the seam is cover with the thin strip of paper)

IMG_5153

  • The base is my go-to note card in Whisper White!
  • The Wisteria Wonder is 4 5/8" X 3 1/8" and then the Whisper White is 4 1/2" X 3" and then I ran just the top portion through the Big Shot with the Large Polka Dot Folder so I can have the bottom part a backfrop to stamp my sentiment!

  IMG_5170

  • The sentiment is from the Tenny Tiny Wishes Set and if you do not have this…than you need to click that SHOP NOW button and get it – it is truly one of those "life savers" sets!
  • To cover the seam part of the start and stop of the embossing I simply took a skinny piece of card stock to "break up" the area!

IMG_5165

  • To the adorable bow…this is using the new punch, appropriately called Bow Builder Punch and wowers….easy peasy! I used the All is Calm DSP (This is how I snuck in the silver) and then wrapped the other colors to make it pop! Glue dots to the rescue…and DONE!
  • To the envelope fun…I simply took a piece of Wisteria White that is 2" X 5 1/2" and then ran it through the Big Shot the the Polka Dot Folder and using the "green glue"  I took a very this bead of glue just around the outer edge and then placed the paper….(I do suggest to let it dry good before you take your scissors and trim the excess away!)

That is it! So simple yet so fun! Thanks for popping in and look for my 2nd post a bit later! You will want to read it and leave a comment so you can have a chance to win BOTH Blog Candy #1 and then the next post which is a dozen of handmade cards made me ME!

Here is to a WONDERFUL 2015 filled with help, tips and inspiration to you! Please feel free to email me and I deeply thank you for your ongoing support to my Stampin' Up! fun!

Until later!

Blog Candy for the things we love…

Th

Can you believe that this is the last day of the year? It seems to go faster and faster each year and I always thought that as you get older….things would seem slower! (hopefully this makes sense)

Today I wanted to go down that lane I like…."Memory Lane" and I thought that it would be fun to talk about Stampin' Up! products that we simply loved over this year and could not be without!

I am going to be focusing on things that I used more this year than previously as it taught me that the basics are always the best to fall back to!

Th

I think that we all get super excited when we learn a new craft, cooking skill, gardening technique etc….and we want to take that BIG DIVE in and if you are like me – this is what I do and then I feel like I have to have everything and then after I get everything I look at it and say…."What do I do with this or Why did I buy this???"

Does this sound familiar/ Below is a quick, short list to items that I think are great basics that are all under $10.00 and I will say that I found myself using each and everyone of these more and more this year!

All you need to do is leave me a comment letting me know some of your favorites…I LOVE when we get to read all of the comments…it is so interesting to see what makes each of us shine!

The below candy shows a "goodbye" to a Stamp Set that is just FABULOUS…a brand new clear mount set and a "hello" to a set of color swatches for the NEW upcoming paper collections.

This Blog Candy is part #1 (the LAST DAY of the year and then I will do a part #2 with another offering for the FIRST DAY of the year and on Friday I will announce the winner!

Here are the items that I found to be "go to's" that I used more this year than before! (They are in no particular order and you can see the items if you click on the pictures at the end of the post) Items # 9 & #10 are things that I highly recommend that you always have on an order…these are lifesavers and the best basics!

  1. "Green Glue" – from the polls that I did this year, you all loved this to!
  2. Glue Dots – I fell in love with these this year…they are so fast and easy!
  3. Silicone Craft Mat – could not…would not be without it – works great when using the "green glue"
  4. Adhesive Remover – another little gem that made me smile…since I have been using the "green glue" more this year, I found that this works great for quick clean ups!
  5. Bakers Twine – I rarely used this before but now I just adore it…not only is it super affordable, it can bring a "plain jane" card to an instant WOW….glue dots are great with it as well and I can even make a bow! There are 10 different colors offered!
  6. Tuxedo Black Memento Ink – Not only for the Blendabilities….it is simply the BEST BLACK INK around!
  7. White Gel Pen – a secret weapon to me….I just LOVE my dashes!
  8. Stampin' Pierce Mat – Since we have so many Photopolymer Stamps, these are the best to stamp on, especially if the stamped image is larger!
  9. Whisper White Paper – I cannot tell you how many time I run out of this…every month I say….make sure I order enough but I feel like I am always borrowing from my Stampin' friends ( My resolution is to always have a full back up…."just in case"
  10. Refill Blades for the Stampin' Trimmer – This is something that you always need to have extra! There is nothing more frustrating than cutting and discovering that you need to change your blade and you are out of them!

These are some of my favorites….how about YOU??? Just leave a comment and you will be in the "pot" to win the blog candy today and then on my 2nd post on January 1st – you will have another chance to win even more Blog Candy….handmade cards from me!

Thanks for popping by and always being so kind, supportive and always so helpful to one another! I always feel like we are one big family helping each other and sharing our love and passion for paper crafting!

Please do not forget to sign up for the Product Shares for the NEW catalog items…with this 1st wave, I am offering free bonuses for each offering…(I plan to order on the 6th) and I will send Pay Pal invoices out over the weekend as per SU policy, I need to collect before I can order on the 6th!

Feel free to email me and many thanks for your continued support! Happy New Year!
