Make it MINE Monday…

IMG_3662

Woot-woot to a new week! Let's all have a GREAT week and I hope that I get you inspired with this card today! Monday's are the days that I find a sketch on the internet and then throw it your way for you to have fun at your own home!

I do not know why we are all reluctant to share our work on weekly challenges, but please know I do "get it" as I was scared to death to do a challenge! I have in time learn to become a bit more comfortable but I am totally fine with you just sharing your work with me….I actually adore it….so if you would like, please email me your take…I am so proud of many of you!

This weeks sketch is from Freshly Made Sketches, have fun with it! The funny thing about today is that I did not realize that this sketch was actually from this week!

Every Sunday I do a "google" of "Clean and Simple Card Sketches" and this popped up…..so….if YOU can do this challenge….then YOU need to upload your picture to their website and just "go for it"! It is the best of the best and I know that you can do it!

Let's get to the "nuts and bolts" of today's card! I simply adore this DSP …I think there is nothing more striking than Black and White with a POP of color!

IMG_3659

I am going to go super quick today so please feel free to email me if you have any questions about the card! It is rather straight forward and I was super happy with the end result!

  • The card base in an A-2 size folded as a vertical card
  • The stamp sets I used today are Four Feathers and Big News

IMG_3670

  • The dimensions of the Strawberry Slush is 4 5/8" X 2 7/8"
  • The designer series paper is from Back to Black and the dimensions are (feathers) 2 3/4" X 3" and the lower one is 1 3/4" X 3"
  • The band across the card is 1" X 4 1/4" and 3/4" X 4 1/4"

IMG_3672

  • The embellishments were the FUN part of the card (in my opinion)…. I used the White Bakers Twine and "doubled" up on it for a simple bow (I can handle Bakers Twine Bows) and then I took a piece of Strawberry Slush and looped it around….I LOVE the effect it gives!

IMG_3671

  • You know me…I do LOVE my Stamp- a -ma- jig, and YES – I did use it for perfect placement!
  • The Big Shot and Envelope Liner Framelits came to my rescue once again!

IMG_3664

That's about it! I hope that you enjoy this! It was not only super easy to make…It uses up scraps and it uses minimal DSP!!!!

Speaking of DSP…don't forget about the incentive that YOU can get a free pack of DSP of your choice for the next 6 months but simply taking a test drive with Stampin' Up~ You have nothing to lose and oh, sooooo much to gain!

I would adore you to join the fun with me and become a PAL! Mary Fish is my direct upline and not only is she super talented and fun…she had developed the best network of positive energy….the PALS!

You can pick $125.00 worth of ANY Stampin' Up! products and only pay $99.00 plus it ships for FREE! That deserves a Woot-Woot!!! You can click here and get going!

I love Stampin' Up….and I adore my customers and loyal blog followers!

There are days that I feel like I am in a dream…it is the best to be able to be able to do what you love and believe in the product…. plus have fun all at the same time!

Thank YOU for all that YOU do! Until tomorrow!

A “Cup of Tea” with Jeanie!

IMG_3541

Good Morning! Last Sunday was the big Breast Cancer Event that Jeanie and myself made fun Stampin' Up! goodies but really the main star was Jeanie and Sister Corda as the 2 of them made 176 of these adorable tea pots to have as a favor on the table for the Tea!

Isn't this a labor of love!!! I truly wish that Jeanie would blog as she is not only super talented but she is also super funny and I know that her personality would shine thru…I asked her if I could share with you the tea pots so I will do my best to walk you through it!

IMG_3452

If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments and I am sure that Jeanie will answer them! I am amazed with technology as I texted her and she sent me these pictures to my cell phone and a brief "how to" so I hope I get it right! I have never made one but they are super cute!

You start with a piece of cardstock at 4 1/2" X 8 1/2" (folded in half) The key and shining star tool is the Oval Bigz Die an because it is on an angle, you will have to turn the paper to the side and snip off the excess so it can go thru the Big Shot!

IMG_3553

IMG_3552
For the Tea, Jeanne and Sister used a variety of Embossing Folders! It made it look so festive and seeing the different textures was truly beautiful!

I do not think the below picture shows it, but Jeanie just embossed the front part of the folded piece…it made it look so professional as it was great to see the back of the tea pot was not embossed. To do this, simply leave the back side of the paper not in the embossing folder before you crank it through!

IMG_3550

IMG_3549

Next, simply cut the top off like in the below picture and keep it aside…this is your spout! Isn't this embossing folder just beautiful!

IMG_3548

Now for the handle…easy-peasy! Punches to the rescue! You already know how I feel about our punches…they are the best on the market and they are such a time saver…the best tip I can give you is to try to add one to an order and in no time you will have a great collection of punches!!!

IMG_3555

1st punch with the Large Oval and then go back and center the X-Large oval and presto – a handle!

IMG_3544

Adhere as shown and I would recommend the Multi Purpose Glue….you really do not need much but this glue has a super hold and it allows you great "wiggle room" to get it "just where you want it"

So darn tootin' cute! I am not a tea drinker but I think they are soooo super sweet that it is worth making some! You could put a gift card in it….or you could also put a piece of chocolate…..NOW I LOVE IT – especially if it is dark chocolate!

IMG_3545

Now I do not think there is no denying that it was AMAZING that she volunteered her time and energy to do this labor of love for Breast Cancer! Again, another reason why what we do DOES make a difference.

We continually touch peoples lives and make a difference. I am super proud to call Jeanie my friend and super lucky to have her as a downline! There is never a dull moment when we are together!

Speaking of being together….we have a PILE OF FALL SWAP CARDS to go through! I have been sooooooo good and have not opened a single one but once we get together…watch out!

Have a GREAT day and please leave Jeanie some great comments of paper love…and go sing ….

"I'm a little tea pot short and stout…..here is my handle….."

3-D Fun…Oh, Henry!

IMG_3656

Before today's post…many thanks for the kind comments so many of you left yesterday for a special day for many that are near to my heart. I wish Hannah was home as I know that she would have been so touched!

The 1st "Claire" Scholarship was a huge success and it was just "a wonderful and healthy day" The scholarships were given to (4) great riders, all girls from different areas of our country…California, New York, Georgia and Virginia!

IMG_3654

This post is just plain fun and another one that is addictive to make….kinda like the tootsie pops….click here to see that post! I hope that you have as much fun making these as I do!

I have to share with you….I made over 125 of these for a "Caddyshack" Party for work and as people left, I had (2) Baby Ruths in them for a Party Favor….too darn cute!

Here is how you make them and I hope that you have fun!

IMG_3651

  • The size of the project is a 1/2 sheet of paper, 5 1/2" X 8 1/2"
  • Using the Simply Scoring Tool, Scoring the long side (8 1/2")….score at 1 3/4", 3 1/2", 5" and 6 3/4"
  • Turn the paper to the short side (5 1/2") and score at 1 1/2" & 4"
  • Now don't stress here…simply fold in the sides at the score lines and then cut as you see in the picture below!

IMG_3647

TIP ALERT: 2 things…..first – snip off a bit of the ends as it makes it easier to have a "clean" fold and use the small oval punch BEFORE you adhere your box….it just is easier!

IMG_3648

  • A simple "glue dot" is your friend and this is really fun to pull together! Fold up the sides as you see below! Please email me if you need help!

IMG_3650 IMG_3649

Now all you have to do is decorate (if you wish and tie a bow) and BAM – you are good to go….but don't forget to put a treat inside!

Now are you wondering why I called this Oh, Henry! Well…there is a candy bar named this, but the real reason is that Hannah's dear friend….Catherine – her horse's barn name is Henry and he is one great guy!

Catherine is one great girl and I like to treat her to some Oh, Henry! while she is in college missing him!

IMG_7937

Catherine and her Mom (my dear friend) were with me for Claire's Scholorship….and we were all missing Hannah not being here but the picture below is a sight that the "Mom's" get to see often and our hearts are "pitter-patter" as they are dear and special friends to each other!

IMG_7993

I hope that I have inspired you today and PLEASE go and make these! They are sooooo fun! I honestly cannot remember where I saw this idea but I was so excited this summer when it was PERFECT for the event at work!

Please remember….jammies shopping is fun! A simple click here will get you one your way! Thank you for taking YOUR time to pop by, please share my blog with your family and friends by subscribing to my Blog (right under the Holiday Catalog) and you will get a daily dose of me!

I leave you with the best of the comments that was from one of the riders that won….(my job was to interview the winners)…..this beautiful girl that was just 15 looked at Claire's Mom and said….

"Thank you for this opportunity and thank you for raising

such a great role model for us…"

My heart is happy…until tomorrow!

A very special day…

IMG_3576
Today is a very special as well as a HUGE heartfelt day to honor an amazing young women that was taken way to early in life. If you follow my blog (and I sure hope you do) you already know that I like to intertwine my life and my personality thru my blog.

I have blogged many times about Hannah's amazing trainer Tom (remember, he is the guy that eats Peanut M&M's only on Sundays – only a man could have that will power)...well he is one special person to so many and today is a day that I know is going to be emotional but at the same time a feel good for him.

IMG_1298 (1)

Three years ago, Claire Mawdsley was killed in an automobile accident at young age of 21. Claire was a role model to many of the Junior Riders at the barn as well as a young women that had an amazing work ethic and passion for life. If you wish to read about this talented young lady, please click here.

Tom has been working so hard in getting a Scholorship started in memory and in honor of Claire and today his dream is coming to life. If you click on the below picture, you can read more about it.

Tom has asked me to make up (4) cards for the winners (there are (4) sections of Junior Riders) and the money that they will be receiving will go towards their college education. Here is the card that I made.

IMG_3579

I think that it is very appropriate for the occasion and it was an honor and a joy to make! I had a call from Hannah (she is in Africa now) and she wanted to let me know that she is thinking about all of us and how wonderful it is that this scholorship is coming to life to honor such a beautiful person!

IMG_3581

Needless to say I am here at the horse show, surrounded by my "Barn friends" and Claires Mom is here as well! Last night some of the girls from the Barn made thank-you cards for the riders that were entered in the scholorship to write a note of thanks to all of the sponors…(another thing I adore about Tom…he said "Can you also make me up some thank-you's as I want the kids to sit down and properly thank all of the sponsors")

IMG_3570

I know that it is hard to see the blue…it is Night of Navy and I just love this simple stamp…one stamp says it all! The girls do not stamp (I need to work on that!!!!!) so I made it super easy for them to use the aqua painter and the stamp to do the trick!

IMG_3573

I know that this is not a "teach you" post but in other ways it really is a "teach you" post as please do not under estimate what we do. This simple gesture of making these for Tom not only warms my heart but I know that Claire would be touched as well.

IMG_3575

I can remember the last time I saw Claire…I made this Apple Cake and she really, really loved it. Some of the other grooms from the barn had left and she aked me…."Where is that cake – it is really good" – when I told her that the guys took it…her face was adorable and pricless! Great memories of a special person!

Please keep Claire and her family and friends in your thoughts! I think you all will agree with me, Tom IS a special person…it is wonderful to see his dream come to life and there is no doubt that Claire is right here with us for this special day!

Claire Mawdsley-Off Photo

Thanks for allowing me to let you "into" my life today….tomorrow is Simple Saturday and Oh, Henry!!! Pop back and see what's up my sleeve!

Enjoy the day and remember all of the thanksgiving that we all have! Until tomorrow!

Super Fun and oh so easy!

IMG_3566

I know that these Tootsie Pops have been around before but I think that they are soooo darn tootin' cute that it brought back! I have so many great memories of doing things like this with my children!

The best thing is that I STILL LOVE TO MAKE THEM...and I still send things like this to my adult children and they always call to thank me for the memories and then naturally I have my moment to say….do you remember when you were a Pumpkin for Halloween…..

(Do you remember making the ghosts out of kleenex)!!! Well, I admit, I love tootsie rolls and tootsie pops! Making them into an adorable broom is so cute at this time of the year but I thought that they needed a little "box" to stand on so they would be straight!

Today is also the Pals Paper Art Challenge and I "squeeked" this is with the color palette that they are using! Please make sure you go to the PPA site and see what the design team came up with this week!

Screen shot 2014-10-07 at 1.43.08 PM

I have LOTS of pictures for you with tips and tricks but please feel free to email me if I can be of help to you! They are so fun and I will say they get adictive to make! Let's start with the box!

I did use the smallest circle framelit to cut out the middle but if you do not have that or want to save time…just put a couple of glue dots on the bottom of the tootsie pop….works like a charm!

IMG_3532

In the picture below you can see the little box! (I think a little Elephant should be standing on it) I like the fact that the coffee filter drapes over it to hide it!

IMG_3563

Now let's get the making the broom…so easy and so cute! Again, please feel free to email me if you need further help!

IMG_3513

IMG_3515

IMG_3527

IMG_3528

So I realize there are lots of pictures being thrown at you but I do hope that it helps! To tie it off I used a piece of Baked Brown Sugar Bakers Twine and then the Stamp and Punch came from the Merry Everything Bundle! (I thought that this sentiment was great as we all know that you end up chewing the center of the Lolipop!!!)

Merry Everything Clear-mount Bundle

True, you could purchase this seperately but I would not….WHY??? You will save an instant 15% plus this is a great and very practical bundle! I also used the 1/8" circle hand held punch and guess what? It is on the weekly deal special! I am amazed at how often I do use it!

To me, the key adhesive are the glue dots for this project…these little gems are easy to tuck in and with using the piercing tool…it makes it easy!

IMG_3559

Thanks for popping in today and I hope that you go to the store and purchase some lollipops and try this! I am sure that whomever is lucky enough to get this broom will be a happy camper!

I hope that you all enjoyed the blog hop yesterday….I am still trying to go through and see what all of the PALS were up to! Sooooo much talent out there!

Remember, shopping in your jammies is FUN…..Click here and smile!

Until tomorrow….I have a post for you that is very near and dear to my heart!
