“Susan’s” turn for Thank-you’s!!!

IMG_1963
Yesterday I shared with you a "Thank You" that I made for John….today's post is my turn! This is what I came up with to write some quick notes of thanks to family and friends that have been so much help to me!

We live in Maryland, and the Maryland State flower is the Black Eyed Susan Flower! Now I know, it is not the exact representation of the flower, but I do think it is super cute!

Now something can be super cute….but to me – it also has to be super quick and easy as we all seem to be short on time! This card to me….produces a BINGO-BANGO effect yet takes minimal time!

Here's the scoop….I hope you CASE away as  I think it is a keeper! I am just lovin' the Envelope Punch Board….it makes it sooooo much fun to make odd shape cards!!!

IMG_1966

  • The finished card size is 3" X 6" in Whisper White!
  • The focal floral stamp set used was Flower Shop!!!! LOVE IT! I curled the flowers with a pencil!

Flower Shop

  • The easy-brezy way to get the clean cut is from the Pansy Punch…so cute!  – can you imagine "fussy-cutting" these flowers!?!?

IMG_1968

  • Adding the centers of the flowers were a simple punch the 1/2" circle punch and then a simple basic pearl was a simple yet elegant touch! Where did the dots come from?
  • Simple…an overlooked item in the catalog is the Uni-Ball Signo Gel Pen  = White pen…and for $3.95…CLICK HERE now to order! This is a no-brainer as it adds soooo much accent and feel to your projects!

Uni-Ball Signo Gel Pen

  • Lots of Thanks
  • Envelope time….I am LOVIN' this envelope punch board…the sky is truly the limit and with all of the super fun Designer Series Paper we have……I say "Hello Irene" – what are you waiting for! Today's envelope is from the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper! Soooooo classic!

  • Simple can be fun and simple can be effective! It litterally took me no time to stamp….punch…to get all set up to make many of these cards! Think about how much fun it would be to change up and use 3 colors! Because of time, I simply used one color…the super new Crushed Curry!

IMG_1967
I hope that you have been inspired today! I was tickled pink…..oops tickled crushed curry with today's card! Odd size cards are fun and with the new Envelope Punch Board, making odd envelopes are a cinch!

“Thank You” in a clean yet masculine way….

IMG_1917

Sometimes it's hard to come up with cards that a man feels comfortable with sending, well at least I know my husband often will ask me for a card to send to a client and he says….."Can you try to make it not so fru-fru"

He is going to be needing some "Thank You" cards to send out so I wanted to come up with something that was clean and simple yet classic and masculine! I think I accomplished all that I set out to do!

Totally lovin' the note card size and taking advantage of it now that Stampin' Up! has the envelopes in this size in my favorite color, Crumb Cake…I knew that this was going to be the perfect backdrop for my cards I made for John.

TIP ALERT: By now you all realize that I adore paper and use lots of it with layering etc…but I should have taken a picture to show you on a card like this…I take FULL ADVANTAGE of the Night of Navy card stock to "punch out" shapes not to "waste" the paper…..actually on this one – I used the Hexagon Punch and will use them on another card!

When you are adhering something flat like I did with this navy piece….you will never see that I "punched" out shapes! I have all sorts of containers with shapes of scraps like this…they come in super handy when you need to do a quick fill in!!!

Here you go…and I have all of the exact measurements for you as I have a feeling that this will be a card I will make again and again! Remember what I blogged about on Thursday – when you have a great layout…make sure you write it down and use it again and again changing up your sentiments and stamps!

SIMPLIFY YOUR STYLE…LESS IS BEST!

(trust me…you'll have more time and you'll be happier!!!)

  • The Crumb Cake is cut for a notecard size…5" X 7" – scored at 3 1/2"
  • The Night of Navy is 4 3/8" X 2 7/8"
  • The next layer of Crumb Cake is 4 1/8" X 2 5/8"
  • The Very Vanilla is 3 3/4" X 2 1/4"
  • Now to the sentiment….BINGO-BANGO! The Photopolymer stamp set, Another Thank You, is HANDS DOWN a must to purchase!

Another Thank You Photopolymer Stamp Set

IMG_1920

  • The envelope and liner = because many of our papers have "Whisper White" in the background, I thought…nothing wrong at all with a solid color and it looks super sharp! The envelope liner framelits were the quick fix for the finale

2 TIP ALERTS to make your projects easier...

  1. The Stampin' Trimmer – if you do not have this….STOP EVERYTHING and click here and order one! It make life soooo easy and when you see the measurements I have given you above…this cutter goes soooo exact and it is simply the best! You will never regret it!Stampin' Trimmer
  2. Craft Scissors – I know…I know….you're having sticker shock…it's o.k., I felt the exact same way! I can remember posting something on the PALS private chat board asking if the were worth it….well….I felt like I was being bombard in a video game with replies…hands down – BUY THEM! I took the plunge and never looked back BUT….

I ONLY USE THEM FOR CUTTING RIBBON…

and they are the best…look at the side of this card…you do NOT have to tuck the ribbon underneath and it alleviates a bunch of "bulk" to your cards!

IMG_1922

How about using a 50% off on them or better yet, get them for free with your hostess benefits! They always produces a clean cut!Craft & Paper Scissors

Do you realize that you can have your own "cyber party" with your family and friends and are able to collect all of the benefits of a hostess! It is a great and easy thing to do….email me and I will be happy to set you up with a Hostess Code and then you can spread the word with your family and friends!

WHEW…I am glad that it is the weekend! My son is coming home this weekend to give me a hand! I am excited to see him even if it is only a brief visit!

I hope that you have enjoyed this simple and classic card!!!

Until tomorrow!

“File Folder Fun Card” for hubbie!

IMG_1904

This card is sure going to bring a smile to my wonderful husbands face when I go see him today! Many thanks for all of the emails and comments wishing him a quick recovery! He'll be just fine…just a long road but we'll get thru it!

I told you that I will become the "Queen" of get well wishes cards and I was super duper happy with this one!

As you have heard me say ENDLESS times before….I am in awe of all of the amazing talent out there! Being that I am getting "super close" to doing videos (thanks from your encouragement) I totally enjoy surfing You Tube!

I love to look at  many different Stampin' Up! Demonstrators You Tube Videos and I stumbled upon this one from SUD Patty Bennett. Please click here and watch this video and you will see 1st hand how fun and easy this style of card is to make!

Being that a "file" reminds me of a doctors chart at the hospital…I let my mind go creative to make this simple card! Look at it and break it down…it uses minimal products and the "fun factor" is high!

Sometimes I think we "over think" techniques and me being the "queen" of being challenged with fussy cards…this is easy-peasy! Just follow my simple bullets ….and BAM – done and FUN!

  • Take your regular A-2 card stock (8 1/2" X 5 1/2"…scored at 4 1/4")
  • Put this in the stampin' trimmer and cut off 3/4" (You better have this trimmer….it is simply the BEST in the whole wide world….I have a closet full of trimmers that are collecting dust ever since this gem came out!!!)
  • Take the cut side (the shorter if you had it folded) into the Envelope Punch Board and line up the left side in the Punch Board Edge and simply punch!!! EASY…hang on – you can do it!

IMG_1913

  • Slide this over to the 3" mark and punch again!

IMG_1914

  • Back to the Stampin' Trimmer….take the "dip or valley" part on the cutting track of the trimmer and simply cut this piece off!!! PRESTO….you made your 1st tab!!!!
  • TIP ALERT: If you have a little ridge….no worries – simply run your fingers back and forth to smooth the edges OR lightly use the sanding block to even it out! (again….my "type A " of crafting!!!!)
  • I simply could not resist using my label maker to "personalize" my hubbies name and room number!
  • I only used 1 stamp set….( I think that's a 1st in a while)…and the name of it is perfect…You're My Hero Stamp Set….as John is my hero!

You're My Hero

  • The stamp-a-ma-jig is essential…by now if you have not mastered this….please email me and let me help you….I go into total STRESS ALERT if I cannot find my stamp-a-ma-jig at my workspace! ( I swear that they hid this in the new catalog as I am ALWAYS searching for the number…page 197)

IMG_1912

  • I did use the Black Staz on Ink….why???? – don't exactly know but I love it!…I did "mask off"the real red and crushed curry part….you see…..YOU NEED THE stamp-a-ma-jig!
  • The sentiment could not be more perfect…."you're my hero!"….just what John is to me! (again…stamp-a-ma-jig)

IMG_1896

It’s time for another Pals Paper Art Challenge! Today’s challenge is a color challenge using Crushed Curry, Midnight Muse and Early Espresso. Super rich and yummy colors together!

I was 1st going to do something with the Magnificent Maple Stamp and then I remembered a card that I did several weeks ago and it was well received so -  why reinvent the wheel???…how about some simple changes and PRESTO a new card that looks fabulous!

Please make sure that you go the the Pals Paper Art Website and check out all of the super ideas using these 3 colors! You will be in awe with the talent…and then YOU play as well!

Please click here to see the previous post I did and you will see the similarity and also how making minor changes can produce you a new look! On that post you will find the specifics of this card!

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: – Why do we stress to try to do something totally new when it comes to making cards!

The thought of the day for you is: When you are content and happy with something…keep it as a formula and do it over and over again just changing up colors, sentiments etc…!!!

IMG_1897

As I shared yesterday that my hubbie had an accident, this is even more of the reason why this concept will work for me during these next several weeks! I have many cards that I have created that I really like…I am going to change them up a bit and you are going to love them!!!

The change in this card is the sentiment and punch I used! This comes as a bundle and you know what that means…you save 15% when you order it as a bundle! The Stamp Set is called Tags for You and the Label Bracket Punch.

Tags 4 You Clear-Mount Bundle

This is an “A List” Stamp Set and I have seen some SUPER CUTE ideas using all 4 of these stamps made from a PAL that I can see a CASE coming….real soon!

Did you see that I framed and matted the sentiment with 2 pieces of very vanilla and stretched them on either side of the stamped one…little tricks like this add interest and using stampin’ dimensionals to lift it up makes it clean and fun!

IMG_1900

My dear hubbie has a BIG boo-boo!!!

IMG_1888

You know how the saying goes…"Accidents can happen"…well this is exactly what has happened to my dear hubbie! In advance, if my posts do not have the Susan regular flair…I am going to have my hands full…but the BEST news is he is doing great and will be just fine…just a long road to recovery!

I thought that this card would be appropriate to let him know…I love him and hope the recovery is fast…he is a super fit person and he will be back to himself in no time! You might be getting tired of seeing "hope you feel better soon" cards….but I promise they will be cute!

Do you notice a "FUN" factor of this card…it's a strange size…you know I love odd size cards and now that we have the Envelope Punch Board….wowzers – what a time saver!!! The simple instructions that are right on the plate make it super fast….ZOOM!!!

Here is some quick and easy scoop for you….I say – CASE away on this one…as we never know when we need a cute card like this! It simply can't get an easier card than this…as I say – "It's a keeper"

  • The card size is 3" X 7", therefore you paper size is 6" X 7" and scored at the 3" mark! The color is Very Vanilla.
  • The "Band-Aid" was made from Crumb Cake…4 1/2" X 1 1/4" – run it through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing folder! I sponged the edges in Soft Suede to give it some dimension! TIP ALERT – use the corner rounder on the Envelope Punch Board!!!

IMG_1892

  • The sentiment came from the Tag It Stamp Set…remember when you purchase this stamp set, Stampin' Up! will donate $3.00 to the Ronald McDonald House. A win-win for both of us! Did you notice the brackets around the stamp are not there? I simple masked them, then inked up the image…peeled the masking off and presto!

Tag It

  • The teeny tiny heart came from the Owl Builder Punch…I really thought that this was a silly punch but I am amazed at how often I use it…I found a super cute Owl card to CASE later this week!
  • The piece of very vanilla that the band aid is on is 2 3/4" X 6 3/4" and then did you notice the difference a simple score line adds…simple, fast yet effective! This is using the Simply Scored Tool.

IMG_1890

  • The matting of the Early Espresso is just a "smidge" larger just to let the WOW factor happen!
  • WOOT-WOOT….it's envelope time! I get sooo darn tootin' excited to make my own envelope! Following the guide for a 3 X 7 card…it told me to start with a 8 1/4" square piece of paper and punch at 2 3/4" and score…..all the way around! Love this Envelope Punch Board!
  • TIP ALERT! You will need to use a ruler to cut off some of the excess…it's the "type A" in me that likes things nice and tidy!

Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper

This card came together by the time I came home….fed the dogs….let them out….and back to the hospital! It really is super fast and a sweet card!

Unfortunately there are times that we need a boo-boo card….I hope this inspires you! Let me know how you like it!

IMG_1889

In my opinion, having an odd size card creates and interest even before they open up to see the card…it's like the feeling you get when you see a strange size box at Christmas!

Have a fabulous day….thanks for popping by and tomorrow is a Pals Paper Art Challenge….how about playing along this week!

Until tomorrow!
