Nutty or Nice?!?!

IMG_4756

Happy Sunday! I shared with you on Thursday that I was going to share with you the other stamp in the stamp set, Santa Stashe…please click here to see the cute Santa and now to the Nutcracker!

Before we go any further…I loved the comments and emails I received about this whole “mustache” thing and I am with the majority of you….I don’t get it (kinda like I still do not understand the hash tag thing) Anyway, this is a cute card that made me smile and I hope it does the same for you.

IMG_4761

The card size is a note card size and it was fun to play with the Blendabilities – I thought hat the night of navy was great on this nutcracker! I made a boo-boo on his hat and I thought….just add some mono glue, snip off some Baked Brown Sugar Bakers Twine and voila!

The blendabilties are perfect for coloring your embellishments! I used the basic pearls and then using the medium Cherry Cobbler Marker….another voila!

IMG_4764

He was just as easy to fussy cut as the Santa was – just chop his mustache off as you can stamp another one and use the matching framelit to cut it out! I think that it is fun to pop it up with dimensionals!

The layer color to the card is basic grey and then using the Simply Scored Tool, I score in ¼” on all sides….this is a quick and easy way to add some quick interest. I like to place the image face down and then score….(I like to see the "up" side)

IMG_4763

Isn’t that sentiment funny! It makes me smile. Using the Modern Ladel punch was a perfect touch and then layering it with the basic grey and “dots” all the way around did the trick! Doing something simple like dots and also dashes really add a fun flair!

I am sure that you have a "nutty or nice friend" out there that would burst out laughing if they received this! When I made it, I went ahead and made many as not only are they super fun to color all at the same time….you can do this card in "steps".

Remember, they key to this hectic time of the year is PACE yourself….I like to do it in "blocks" so I am not overwhelmed! When I am feeling tired and a bit overwhelmed, it is relaxing for me to grap some images that I already have stamped….take my blendabilities and just become a kid again and color!

Well….did I make you smile? Please feel free to leave me a comment and let me know if you smiled and liked this "NUT-cracker" You can always email me and have fun shopping away on my online store!

Last night we went (John, Hannah, Aidan and I) went to our local symphony to hear the Christmas Concert, it was fabulous and truly put me in the Holiday mood! (I am still singing….)

Tomorrow is make it mine Monday and I am showcasing a NEW product that you are going to love!

3-D Fun and oh so easy!!!!

IMG_4676

Good Morning! I am sure that there are going to be many of you that are going to be going to the store today to get these adorable little Snowmen and Terry Bears! They are Lindt Chocolates and I found them in the grocery store – (as I walked by the candy section they "jumped" in my cart and said take me home)!!!

I only have 3 pictures for you today as this post is that easy…you can easily mass produce these guys and they make adorable place cards for your table. When I worked, I always made them and placed them on my co workers desk with a note…..they are just FUN to make!

Back in the Spring I did a post similar using the chocolate bunnies….please click here to see that post! Today's are just the same with the exception of 2 things.

  • The embossing folder I used (for the bunny) is discontinued so I did not show it for today's post, I just used the Oval punch but if you do have that embossing folder, I would use it….(I like the effect it gives….but today I did something different and I also liked that!
  • Also on the Bunny one, I popped out both sides and today I only did one side….why???? = the bunny you could see from both sides and these (2) I am showcasing today are (1) sided.

Let's get going and this is so darn easy!

IMG_4681

  • Take a 2" X 11" piece of card stock and score it at 4 1/2"…then flip it around and score it at 4 1/2" again….use your bone folder to get a good crease!
  • Using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch….do both ends!
  • Using the X Large Oval Punch, punch out the opening for your critters!
  • If you want…run through the Big Shot with an embossing folder.
  • I placed snail adhesive on the base of the project and squished some white fru-fru and then used several glue dots to adhere my critter!
  • Add some simple ribbon….stamp the sentiment on scraps and DONE!

IMG_4678

Now how about that for hitting that "Easy Button"!!! Cute, fast, fun….I guess the only down side is that you hate to eat them!!! (I must admit, I still have a bunny in my work area and even if I get a "sweet tooth"….I just can't do it to him!)

Many thanks for the emails and comments in wishing Hannah home. It is wonderful to have her home safely. It was truly an amazing experience and John and I are "taking the stories all in". It was very bittersweet to see her leave her new friends (28 of them) that were on this journey together over the past 4 months!

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions, and do not forget about the clearance rack….this is the End of the Year Clearance while supplies last!

Today we are getting our Tree….always an exciting time. Please pop back tomorrow as it is Make it Mine Monday! Enjoy the day and be careful going to get your chocolate Snowmen and Terry Bears!

p.s. – below you will notice that I am using a new system for logging the products that I use in my post. You can just click on the picture and place it in the shopping cart or you can also print off the supplies that I use and keep it for reference for the future. ( click the supplies list link)

You might want to copy a picture of the post and keep it with the supply list and start a booklet of projects!

And a Partridge in a Pear Tree!

IMG_4601

This is my kind of card! I had so much fun making this and I think it was because of several reasons. I love to color, I love that it stands up, and I love that it is clean and simple!

I shared this with you on Monday and I told you that today I would give you the "scoop" on it! The inspiration came from my friend Jeanie as she used this "easel concept" for her family Chrismas Card last year and had a family photo….it was perfect!

IMG_4596

Here you go…please CASE this card – it is soooo darn tootin' easy to do and as you will see in the photos….I covered the back of the colored piece (it is very normal for the blendabilities to bleed through) Make sure that you have several layers of paper that you color on top of so you do not ruin your work service.

IMG_4561

IMG_4560

  • The card base is Sahara Sand in the vertical….4 1/4" X 11' and then I scored it at 2 1/2" and 5 1/2", use the bon folder to get good, crisp edges!
  • The Very Vanilla is 4" X 5 1/4" (cut 3 of these)
  • Stamp the "Pear Tree" with the Memento Ink on 1 of the very vanilla pieces and have a blast coloring away with the Blendabilities!
  • Score the Stamped image 1/4" on all sides with the stamped image facing down (personal preference)
  • Adhere the 2nd piece of Very Vanilla to the back of the stamped image and adhere it together – you need to do this so when the card is in the "easel" position you will not see the back side that has bled through.
  • Add snail or (I would use sticky strip if you have it) as that would super hold it to the lower section of the very vanilla...YOU ARE JUST PLACING THE ADHESIVE TO THAT LOWER SECTION that will be at the score line of the Sahara Sand. (hopefully this makes sense)
  • Adhere the 3rd piece of Very Vanilla to the inside of the card.
  • For the sentiment part….the Sahara Sand is 3 1/4" X 1 1/2" and the stamped very vanilla is 3" X 1 1/4" …..adhere this with Stampin Dimensionals to give it a raised effect for the easel to stand!

IMG_4564

THAT IS IT!!!! So fun and you will be doing the happy dance! OOPS….I forgot….you can see in the photo that my sentiment was a "bit off" – Silly Susan…..have no fear – I stamped a sentiment on a scrap and matted it….PRESTO – boo-boo gone!

I will pop back on my blog and announce who was the lucky winner for the hostess code….I went to bed super early last night as tonight…..it's MOVIE NIGHT WITH STAMPIN' UP!!!!

That's right….tonight all over the country…. crazy and die hard SUD's are going to the MOVIES to see the preview of the NEW Occasions catalog and the goodies for Sale-a-bration….the best time of the year!

Please email me if you have any questions and also let me know how you like this card! I adore your comments and I love inspiring you to reach your goals!

“The Perfect Gift” this season….

IMG_4426

This is a GREAT day for sooooo many reasons! I am super excited about today's post as I have the honor to be the guest stamper of my dear friend and fearless leader….Mary Fish! I am always so darn tootin' excited when I can be her guest!

If you have never popped on my blog before…WELCOME….and yes, I do blog daily (like Mary) and I have learned from the best….I love what I do and I love inspiring YOU! Please subscribe to my blog if you wish!

IMG_4395

I have a confession and one that I am sure that all of my "peeps" will acknowledge….I love monograms…I love initials… All around my home you will find "personalized touches" and when the "peeps" were "little peeps" I was a representative for a children's clothing company that specialized with color coordinating clothes and monograms were the star!

In looking at pictures….they DREAD how I dressed them but I still think that they were adorable! ENOUGH WITH MEMORY LANE (darn, I love going down that lane)…..today's post will highlight how you can take one stamp set and make a great set of note-card for ANYONE!

The stamp set that I used for today is one that I can just about guarantee that you have "passed" on because I admit…it is very $$$$$ but you need to think past that as it is so darn versatile! It is called Larger than Life and it is just that!

135382G

The minute the new catalog came out in the Spring, I adored this stamp set but I thought "Should I get it now….or wait"….I am always honest (about the in's and out's of products) but I knew that  deep down – I needed it. I used a 50% off on it and you can do the same by having a cyber event…..please email me and I will help you reach your goals!

Now I say to myself, "Silly Susan"….just look at how many gifts you can make with this clean and classic stamp….and I LOVE IT!

O.k. – let's get to it as it s a fun project and I hope that I have inspired you to give this stamp set a try and also do this! Just think about how many different people you can give this to! I invite you to think of:

  • Friends
  • Family
  • Hairdresser
  • Co-Worker
  • Mother in Laws….Sister in laws
  • Kids in College
  • Teachers
  • Birthday Gifts (everyone needs thank you notes)
  • Hostess Gift

You can see that the list is endless and fun! This is a GREAT way to use up DSP that you have and also it is sooooo darn tootin' affordable using the Note-cards that Stampin Up! offers…..WOOT-WOOT……you get 20 cards & Envelopes for just $5.95!

  • The simple scoop on making this box is….for the bottom, cut your card stock to 7 1/4" X 5 3/4" and then using the Simply Scored – I score at the 1" mark all around (see the below picture to see how I "cut in" on the ends as well as placed the sticky strip!)

IMG_4420

  • For the "Top", I suggest that you make is a "smidge larger" to fit nicely over it! The dimensions for this are 7 3/8" X 5 7/8" and do the same as you did for the bottom!
  • You all know by now that every Tuesday, Stampin' Up! is wonderful in offering "deals for a week" and I love the challenge in incorporating them into my posts!

You can see that I have used the Deco Labels Framelits to create the center of the box along with the help of the Window Sheets. (You could easily skip this step but I think it makes it "finished & fun"….also it help you see whose initial it is!!!)

IMG_4421

  • For the note-card….it is already ready cut with the Stampin' Ups! help but then I cut a white piece just a 1/4" smaller (4 3/4" X 3 1/4") and then scored it at 1/4" all around to give it some depth! Have fun with the colors of your choose and also the DSP!
  • For the back flaps of the envelopes….easy-peasy – I just take a piece of DSP that is 5 1/4"" X 2" and then run a very, very thin bead of "green glue" (mono) just around the edges of the envelope….place the DSP on it….let it set it a bit and then PRESTO – cut the excess away! LOVE IT!

( I will say that I usually cut my DSP in 6" width so if I am using it with the Envelope Liner Framelit, they are good to go but if you are doing it this method, you can get by with cutting the paper smaller)

IMG_4399

I love picking out the DSP for the person's personality, I think that this gives this project a great "personal touch" and one that I know will be well received and very useful. I can get at least (8) cards and envelopes in a box….want to make it larger, no worries – just make our box depth larger!

IMG_4423

  • Simply Stamp the "initial of your choice" with the "color of your choice" and PRESTO – you are good to go!
  • If you are making the "solid" color box top and then want to embellish it with coordinating paper (like the below "m" one) – those measurements are (2) pieces at 5 1/4" X 3/4" and (2) pieces at 3 3/4" X 3/4"….This truly carries the theme of your gift!

IMG_4425

Have fun and mix up what you have! You can easily decorate the boxes in so many ways! I am just crazy about this project and I already have 15 boxes made for friends and family! I am a "big believer" of handmade gifts….they touch the heart and they are remembered!

IMG_4408

A Childhood Memory….

IMG_4256

I am smiling from ear to ear for today's post….WHY??? These darn boxes make me smile and I am super excited to share with you this fun, meaningful, clever and a way to get into the spirit of the upcoming season!

The Advent Calendar is something for all ages! I have already made up 8 sets of these for my "peeps", my dear Dad and my god-children and I hope that you will see the FUN that I am enjoying! This is a great way to use up scraps!!!

I say a BIG thank you to Stampin Up! for these adorable boxes, they are called the Tiny Treat Boxes and they are the BEST especially since you can make up a whole season of FUN for just $6.95.

IMG_4258

A BIGGER thank you to Stampin Up! for this GREAT RIBBON that is in the Clearance Rack for just $3.59 and with one roll – you can tie these simple knots with just ONE ROLL…that is a woot-woot!!!!

The ribbon is called Cherry Cobber 1" Grosgrain. I was soooo happy to find something to offer to you at such a great price! You can get (25) 14" cuts from one roll!

I also used the Cherry Cobbler Bakes Twine to add the "numbers" to the boxes! You can easily use (1) package to complete everything…..the tags and also tying the bags!

IMG_4252

The Stamp Set is called 25 Days and wowzers  – being a photopolymer Stamp Set, the stamping was super easy! I was very Traditional with my color choices…..Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow!

I did use a variety of our punches to do this project!….they are mainly the Circle Punches in the sizes of 1 1/4", 1 3/8", 1 3/4" and 2"

I will say …"HANDS DOWN"…if Santa needs to bring you something this year…it is the Craft Scissors…they are AMAZING and they make cutting ribbon a breeze! I was really…really debating about them as I know that they are $$$ but they are totally worth it!

IMG_4259

This is such a fun and also a gift of love! I know that when I was a child, I adored opening up the little "windows" of an Advent Calendar!

You can easily line the boxes up to look like a tree, but I think that seeing a big batch of beautiful boxes is just plain fun! I found some small bags at a candy store…(100 bags for just $1.89) for the items that you need to "bag"

I really do not have any "little" ones to give these to but I think for the "girls" that I am giving to, I will put them in a beautiful and practical basket that they will use in their dorms/apartments and for the "guys" I am going to put them in some sort of useful storage container!

Here are some ideas that I have come up with to fill…PLEASE put your thinking cap on and get more ideas rolling! If you think of some "keepers" – please share!

  • M&M's
  • Small post it notes
  • nuts…(peanuts, pistachios, cashews)
  • stamps
  • tiny bottles of nail polish
  • MANY things from the Dollar Store
  • Love notes of inspiration
  • Mini Candy bars
  • erasers
  • Money
  • Peppermint Patties
  • Mints
  • Gum
  • Rolos
  • Swedish Fish
  • Trail Mix
  • GoldFish Crackers
  • Animal Crackers

I hope that this has been as much fun for you as it was for me! Please do not wait to order these goodies as it is "While Supplies Last"…especially for the ribbon. Please click here and have fun!

Remember, make your list…check it twice….as you know you will be the "HIT"! So fun, so unique yet so affordable!

Boxes $6.95 + Ribbon $3.59 – Stamp Set $25.95 = A priceless gift

Fun…fun…FUN!!!! Until tomorrow!

p.s. – You know what would be super fun…get a bunch of friends together and maximize the project…share the price of the stamp set and GO TO TOWN! This sounds like a perfect time together!

Make it Mine Monday….I’m melting!

IMG_4219

I'm melting…..these dear little snowmen are just too darn tootin cute! Where do they come from???…they are on the bottom of a sheet pf DSP from the Santa & Co. collection and you can make 6 of these cards as you get (2) sheets of paper with them on it!

Screen shot 2014-11-09 at 7.33.09 PM

These little guys are the focal part for the Make it Mine personal Challenge for today! Please give the below sketch a try…I adore seeing what you come up with!

FMS106

To be totally honest with you….the inspiration to use this DSP as the focal part came from me not putting away the product that I used for yesterday's card! Click here to see this one and you can see that I used the "stars" for the envelope liner as I did it today as well….if it works – why not!?!?

IMG_4211

  • The card is an A-2 card in Whisper White and then the "focal" Snowmen were cut at 4 1/8" X 2 1/8" and then matted at 2 1/4" X 4 1/2" in Basic Black.
  • I cut the circles with the Circle Framelits in the #6 & #7 templates and then ran them thru the Big Shot with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder.

IMG_4214

  • Again, the Endless Wishes Stamp Set was still on my work space so "out it came" and the quick and easy stamping made this card come to a close….so fast….so easy!
  • I line the outside of the envelope just like I did yesterday as I cut the !2 X 12 paper in half si it was an instant WIN-WIN for me…I say – woot-woot!

IMG_4213

I must say, I feel a bit guilty that it is as easy as this but it truly is and it is a super cute card! There is no doubt that someone would smile if they received this fun card!

Please give this a try….the sketch if fun and WIDE OPEN for lots of options…I cannot wait to see what you come up with! Please email me your Picasso's, I just adore and smile every-time!

Pop back tomorrow as I will show you what to do with Hershey Nuggets and this stamp set, Endless Wishes! Thanks for your time, please share my blog and passion with your family and friends and until tomorrow!
