A card for many reasons….

IMG_3279

Here you go…a “Susan Card” – what does that mean??? EASY – this is right up my alley…I love the simplicity of it and true I have blogged about this before…you just cannot go wrong with the classics! You all loved it before so I thought, WHY NOT show this style again but change up the paper and sentiment!

This card IS a card for many reasons….WHY??? – just change up the sentiments and PRESTO

a totally different feel!

Today is a Pals Paper At Challenge and this week it is a color challenge! See the FUN mix of colors that Katy McGloin came up with. I knew that the Sale-a-bration paper would work perfectly but I also figured that everyone else had the same idea so I just used it in “bits” to be the POP on the vases! Please do not forget to pop by the Pals Paper Art site and see what’s happening!

PPA-287-Feb11

Let’s get into this card as I do hope that it brings a smile to your face and also that you CASE away with it! Just think of all of the differnt sentiments that you can use. Small prints of paper work great when “decorating” your vases.

It is super simple, just use the stamp and stamp the image right on the DSP and then do a super easy fussy cut and then adhere them with green glue – PRESTO – BINGO!

IMG_3289

Today I did use the watercolor paper and the Aqua Painter. I have been having GREAT success with the Thick White Card Stock…it will work fine, just be careful that you do not over saturate the paper. The best tip I can give you is to have a paper towel handy to dab off excess water if you need to. I do hope that you try to watercolor more…it is really fun, relaxing and rewarding.

You can see the colors in the supplies below that I used but I adore using the Sahara sane around the edges of the vases…it really makes them pop and look special (Darn, I wish that you could see it in person and it truly is a great card….sometimes it’s hard to capture it in a picture)

IMG_3288

The over all size of the card is a 4 1/4″ square card and the great thing about his size is that you can use one of our regular envelopes but you know me, I like to make my own….that envelope punch board makes like super easy!

IMG_3283

After I did the coloring and adhered the vases, I took the image and flipped it over and used the simply scored and sores 1 notch on all the say around. Adhering that to a piece of Sahara Sand (a smidge larger) helps make it POP!

IMG_3285

To me, it is amazing with how much mileage you can get form a single stamp. Please do not get me wrong, I love the sentiment that is on this stamp…but to me the ease of masking it off and the using many different options is the icing on the cake! The stamp is in the annual catalog, Vivid Vases.

IMG_3281

The sentiment is from the New Occasions Catalog…Greatest Greetings and I adore the font and there are some fun, unique and festive sentiments. Remember, when in doubt…buy the sentiments….they always come in handy for many of your card projects!

Do you agree??? This is a very doable card and one that would be a great one to use up scraps. You could also easily use a blender pen if you are more comfortable – remember, do what works for YOU!

IMG_3292

I hope that YOU are catching my smiles that I am sending to YOU! Today I am going to Baltimore for a Check Up on my Ankle….It feels so much better to be where I am this year verses last year at this time.

GREAT NEWS….Eddie has been a Chow Hound…I call him my Rocky Balboa….he is PUMPING up and his energy is sooooo much better! Me heart is happy.

Please feel free to email me, I will be gone all day but will check tomorrow night! Remember, we are over 1/2 way thru Sale-a-Bration…this is the best time of the year to stock up on goodies…. (staples that you use over and over) and then for each $50.00 you get to pick a FREEBIE….a great deal!

Tomorrow’s post will make you giggle….Mr. Frog is back!!!!

IMG_3206

Super Cute…Super Fun…Super Practical….Super that it is on SALE…but today is the LAST DAY!

I have blogged about this die many times and click here to see one of post that I have showcased the ins and outs of this fabulous die. Same principles as I have blogged about before but you can see that I switched up the paper and themes!

This die is a true keeper and whenever Stampin’ Up! is so kind to have it on sale….I always get many of you to take advantage it it and I do not blame you one bit. I totally realize that dies are $$$$$$ but when they are on sale, snatch them up! Remember, TODAY IS THE LAST DAY for it to be on sale with the weekly deals!

IMG_3210

You can see that I used one of the Sale-A-Bration Stamps….Honeycomb Happiness – a very popular one with many and that little chick is just the cutest! All I did was stamp it on a piece of So Saffron and then to the So Saffron marker over the black lines for additions depth and the sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set….a perfect stamp set that is a HUGE help when looking for the perfect sentiment!

Step it Up Sunday!

IMG_3193

Good Morning….here you go – the stepped up version for the 2 day weekend post! This is really getting hard for me to pick as I truly like both of them! It is sad that this is the last full week to be able to get this stamp set for FREE as it will be going “bye-bye” on February 15th but that great news is that there will be 3 more Sale-A-Bration items for you to have fun with through the end of March!

I have lots of pictures for you to see today’s card but before we get to the “ins and outs” of each card…here you go, seeing them side by side so YOU can decide!

IMG_3200

It is obvious that I added a pop of color to today’s card but I still was able to keep it super clean and simple. You could easily use different colors that you have on hand but I felt that Lost Lagoon was going to do the trick for me today!

IMG_3171

You can see that the other element that is different is that I used the stamp from Gorgeous Grunge to add depth and YEP – it did the trick! I can remember that when this stamp set came out, I thought it was the worst stamp set over….(remember, I see things very literally) but once I started to see it being used for accents like I did today, SILLY SUSAN bought it and I am happy that I did!

130517G

To me, this above stamp set is like a secret weapon….WHY??? There are times (like today) that you need just a wee bit more…and this stamp did the trick with instant depth. I tend to use it tone on tone a bunch!

IMG_3175

One thing about today’s card is that you would not use as much of your DSP but it still gives a POP with the bold stripe! There are also other prints in this DSP pack that would be fabulous with this card layout…..like the map – WOW, that would be stunning!

Having just the one element of the card LIFTED UP makes the card come to life. I think that we all can agree that when you elevate a part of the card….there is a special feeling about it….and you know if we feel it when we create, than you know the recipient feels the same way!

IMG_3174

It might be kind of hard to see, but today I also added some small brads on the wheels and then to the propeller area, I used a candy dot brad base with a black candy dot . The little propeller was from the Festive Flower Builder Punch…I forgot to put that in the below products….sorry! Little touches like this might be an additional step but they are steps that really add an extra level of WOW!

IMG_3197

Here you go….some measurements for you! I hope that you feel free to email me if you need further help with this card….or anything else!!! This IS a card that I would suggest making more of….(I made 8 of them when I was doing this post) – which one did I do???? I did the one from today as it worked out perfectly with the DSP that I had. They both are truly great!

IMG_3203

Saturdays Card:

  • The Stripe Piece is 5″ X 3 3/4″ and the Very Vanilla that I stamped is 4 1/2″ X 2 3/4″ and then the mat is a smidge larger, 4 5/8″ X 2 7/8″

Sundays Card:

  • The Lost Lagoon is 5 1/4″ X 4″. The Stripe piece is 4 1/2″ X 3 1/4″. The Vanilla and mat are the same as above.

IMG_3190

It truly was funny as I knew that I wanted to do a 2 day post featuring this great stamp set (especially since it will be leaving us soon) and I truly was trying to make it more difficult on myself. Does this sound familiar to any of you? Why do we do this to ourselves….I took a deep breath and said, SUSAN….JUST DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU,,,,and there you go!

I hope that you enjoyed this weekend post and I hope that you can see that here you go – a great masculine card! It is FOOTBALL DAY…..I adore watching the commercials – how about you? I am glad that I do not have to pay for them (I think it is crazy how expensive these are) but I admit, it is a highlight to see them!

Feel free to shop away while watching the game….best of both worlds! Thanks for your time and I hope that you can get “inky” today!

Simple Saturday…really SIMPLE!!!

IMG_3153

Can you see me right now?!?!? I feel like Fred Flintstone kicking my heels together out of excitement for many reasons….here you go!

  • I really, REALLY like this card…
  • Hannah signed her contract and she is going to Duke University to be a fabulous and beautiful “research rat”!!!
  • My wonderful John went onto my blog yesterday and made a comment (that meant the world to me that he took a peak)
  • I took Eddie to the (V_TS) yesterday (he does not like that word) as I was feel a bit guilty that he has not been in a while and I am so afraid to leave for Gulf Port and have to leave him behind….but all in all – a good report but we will know for sure with blood work results..

Screen Shot 2016-02-05 at 8.05.21 PM

The above stamp set is a FREEBIE in Sale-A-Bration BUT only until February 15th  – and you know….WOW – that is right around the corner! This is a SUPER popular Stamp Set and I have not showcased it yet for you as I was searching and searching…..scratching my head….and then I thought – SILLY SUSAN….just do what YOU love to do and that is SIMPLE!

IMG_3166

Do you remember the other day with the sympathy card that I said that when you have a “keeper” USE it….DUPLICATE it…JUST BECAUSE! This is just what I did but you will have to POP back tomorrow to see if I did today’s card or the stepped up version!

IMG_3158

Clean…Crisp….and Classic! You can see that I have blended (2) stamp sets…..this freebie and also the Guy Greetings Stamp Set….the great thing about this stamp set is that it is available in all (3) mounts…..I prefer the photopolymer as I love the ease of seeing through!

137178G

I have blogged lately that I am lovin’ the White Fun Foam to pop up larger areas….and today I used it to give a lift! You can click here to see the product on Amazon and I have to admit….you will be AMAZED with how far a pack goes….true you can purchase fun foam at craft stores….but I know that the quality and the ease of having it delivered to your home is a win-win!

IMG_3165

I hope that you can see that simple works and that simple is O.K.!!! I know that we all struggle with Masculine cards….but with this stamp set – NO WORRIES NOW and the best thing is …..it’s FREE!!! The sentiments in stamp set are GREAT and I plan to use it over and over with cards….but my goal was also for you to see that you can use other sets that you possibly have and make it work!

IMG_3155

That’s is folks! A clean and simple card that will make someone smile and very happy! Remember, for every increment of $50.00 you will be able to choose a FREEBIE…and I hope that you choose this stamp set as it is going “BYE-BYE” on February 15th!

Don’t be a snail….GO FOR IT! – I can’t wait to see what you think about tomorrows “stepped up version Have fun shopping….Sale-a-bration is the BEST time of the year with Stampin’ Up!

Never a dull moment!!!

IMG_3137

Good Morning and you are getting this post late today for a couple of reasons….yesterday was a fabulous day as I turned the music up…made cookies…did a bunch of mailings and then “shared handmade kindness”….it was a very fulfilling day and then the icing on the cake was to have dinner with my Dad and brother (John has a terrible cold) so it was a great day all around.

Today is a day that Hannah needs to make a decision…she is so lucky as she graduates from college in May and has 2 amazing job offers, one at NIH in DC and the other at Duke University…so I am sending this silly card to her as this is a very exciting time for her.

It is truly amazing how many phone calls I have received from her over the past week and as you can imagine, she does most of the talking and trying to be a good Mom…..I just say – “this is exciting….I am sure that you cannot go wrong with either one…we love you….we are proud of you”

Does the worrying of your children ever stop?

I promised that I would give you a “pooch” update….we are in the meltdown on the East Coast so the beauty of the snow is turning into a muddy icky mess! Messy mud means muddy paws – the work does not stop but I love it! It still feels empty without Norman but ever day it gets better.

You can see that I attempted to create a card for Hannah that would make her happy and laugh…(and I am sure that many of you are like John was….he burst out laughing and said….that is different….then he thought that they were SHEEP……he needs glasses)!!!! This is from the Balloon Builders stamp set….very whimsical but very fun!

IMG_3140

Below you will see the most incredible “share” that I found on Pinterest. Is this amazing or what! The obviously talented Darlene DeVries created this great visual for all of us to see….now I know that this is making you smile. They are super cute!

2016.01.05-balloons-hires

I know that this card will make Hannah smile…she knows that I am silly but she knows that I deeply care! I have combined (2) stamps sets to make this card…..the other one is Beautiful Ride…..this too is a fun and whimsical stamp set that have been really, really popular! I used the hearts and also the sentiment inside!

IMG_3139

IMG_3143

Look at the detail of this stamp set….it is a fun one and then I used the blender pen to fill in the hearts! When you click on the Beautiful Ride Set below you will see that I used just a part of the sentiment…..I just love when Stampin’ Up! offers sentiments that are perfect for the inside!

IMG_3141

Cute….right????? The colors of the card are Sahara Sand as the base…..Soft Suede and then the Thick White. I am going to send this with her Valentines Care Package on Monday! I know whatever decision she makes…it will be a great foundation for her to continue her love of the sciences and research! We NEED people like this….research is sooooooo important and she just loves it!

Now to the parade of pictures of the pooches…..darn, we have some strange mis-fits but I adore each and every one of them!

To touch on Eddie a bit….he is hanging in there – last week was a GREAT week for him, energy was good etc….this week he is a bit slower but he never seizes to amaze me…all I have to say is “I’m going to the barn – does anyone what to come” and there is my little man….loyal always!

With the snow melting the dogs are finding new friends that have been covered….poor Mr. Chicken made it……Eddies Mr. Smiley made it…..Rosie’s favorite pull toy made it…..it’s like Christmas in our yard! I find a pile of toys by the back door!

All of these pictures were take either last night or this morning! There truly is never a dull moment and I hope the one of Charlie makes you laugh….he truly is a bit different~ this is how he sleeps most of the time.

Thanks for popping in and I hope that I made you smile. Please keep Hannah in your thoughts as she makes this decision….I am just waiting to hear the final decision….she is a mess but I adore her….she is sooooo hard on herself!

Below you will see the goodies that I used to make my silly card (John might laugh but I thought it was cute)….have a great day and please do not underestimate the power if a simple card…a simple smile…a simple hello!
