I told you that I had today's card…."in my head"and it worked! I just love that when it happens! I know that many of you might think that yesterdays card was harder but remember, sometimes it is not about being hard….it is about how you can change tings up and make it "feel" different!
For me,,,whipping out the sentiments in the coaster board is super easy – once you get used to it – SUPEREASY! Today I did the opposite – I used the framelit to be flat, nestled in….and it produces a super fun look!
Here you go with then side by side….I think that it is a super card and I would be super proud to send this out to family and friends! SIMPLE….CLEAN – DONE! (just the way I like it)!!!
Hopefully the following 3 pictures will help you see the stages that I did to put the sentiment in and also how I secured it.. As alway, please feel free to email me if you have specific questions. I just love the color scheme and the plaid is always so festive and fun
We need to talk if you do not have this punch – I admit, when I saw it come out I thought that it was a silly punch but trust me, I am eating my words! – I love the ease of it and I love that you can really do any size that you need!
DOTS….DOTS ! I love my DOTS! The best advice I can give you is – JUST GO FOR IT….trust me, I make boo-boos all the time but that does not stop me – Remember,,,,we are NOT Hallmark!
You know me,,,the envelope is my favorite,I used the same color scheme I as yesterday!
I think that it is amazing at how changing the background paper makes a huge difference! I adore Mossy Meadow – I think that it adds a richness and depth.
It is just a personal preference….you simply cannot go wrong with either one!
Here is a run down of the dimensions for today's card! As I said yesterday, this would be a super easy card to mass produce and it is so affordable as the paper stacks….YEP – a blue ribbon winner. You will see all of the goodies I used in the strolling store! (Isn't that great that you can shop from your home and in your jammies!)
Here you go!
A-2 base in thick whisper white….yep – it is the best, could not… would not be without it!
The Mossy Meadow is 4" X 5 1/4"
The Plaid is 3 1/2" X 4 3/4"
The White Banner Piece id 1 1/2" X 5 1/4" – (remember, you want to add additional langth as it will get snipped shorter once you use the banner punch – the best rule of thumb I use is add 1/4" for each side)
The Red Banner is 1 5/8" X 5 1/2" (and YES – I did use the envelope paper and it worked like a charm, I was worried that because the paper was so thin that I would not get a "clean" cut but it works great. The sentiment was also using this paper.)
White gel pen….you just have to have it!
There you go! Simple changes to give a little different feel and flair! I hope that you enjoyed this post.
Pop back tomorrow and you will be hungry for some sweets! Get ready to run to the grocery store, I will share with you a yummy that is a huge tradition in our home!
Here you go my friends! I know that you all enjoy these 2 day posts and this one is a super clean and fun card! You will see below that my inspiration came from the Holiday Catalog. Stampin' Ups! catalogs and website are filled with super duper ideas that will inspire you!
I can remember when I was surfing through the catalog when it first came out….YEP – I know that I would be doing a CASE on this card! There are several things that "speak to me" and here are a few of them!
Whenever there is a sentiment die = I say, BUY IT – you will never regret it it always will be a lifesaver to you…..ALWAYS!
I adore plaids, no secret about this…and this fabulous paper come in a paper stack so you will get 24 of these 6" X 6" plaid papers.
Stampin' Up! came out with the Real Red Envelope Paper….not only is it a dream machine to work with – it is soooo darn affordable – 20 sheets for just $6.00
Let's get to more pictures and I hope that you stop back tomorrow to see what I did….I must admit – I have not made tomorrows card but it is in my hear and I am hoping that it will turn out, "just the way I vision it'– I know, it's weird – I think of ideas at the strangest times~ some work…some don't – but that's life….right?
I used as I always do when using sentiments…the vanilla coaster board…to me, it is like "peanut butter andjelly" – very 2nd nature to me when using sentiments!
To off set the sentiment part of this card, I used the Banner Triple Punch – if you do not have this…..trust me – YOU NEED IT. It is amazing how handy this little gem comes in…a speed tool to the max!
I should have put on my list of things that I love about this card is the Bakers twine……I still laugh every time that I use it as I will say that it took me YEARS to order my first bakers twine….now I have it in every color and if I see it on clearance – I still buy it – as it is so easy to use….and it is a dream machine to work with!
After I adhered the sentiment of "merry" on my white banner, I thought that there was too much white on the bottom and truthfully, I did not want to start over and thought how can I make Lemonade. A simple 1/4" piece of the real red envelope paper did the trick and then I used the bakers twine to add interest!
Well…thoughts? How do you like it – to me it is "Susan Card" – well I know that this seems silly as of course I would like it if I made it but that it not always true….I do try to share with you a wide interest of cards but one thing that you can always count on from me….it will be super clean and super simple!
I was true to my word yesterday and I locked myself in my work area and worked and worked! I am leaving to "play with horses" on Tuesday and I have many commitments that need to be out the door! Today will be another productive day for me.
Please come back tomorrow and see the changes I made. If things go the way my brain sees it – I think that you will like it….there are always many ways to do things and it is fun to share them with you!
ANIMAL UPDATE! – ( I must say, I adore that you all love my furry friends)
Let's start with Eddie….he is doing great – gaining weight, his energy level is super…I think he wants to continue to bring joy to our families life. You have no idea how special he is to me…we have 4 Jack Russell's and he was our 1st! Caleb…..he wishes you could play with him!
Now to Milo…he is going no where….he is her with our other mis-fits and is doing fabulous! I took him over to see Earlene and I was hopeful that it was going to be a positive and heartfelt visit. It was….and I was thrilled.
When she opened the door a huge smile was on her face when she saw him. He went right into her house and went to the kitchen where his water bowl was and she was so touched that he remember….she pulled out a bowl, filled it with water and the rest is history!
I cannot convey how special this dog is. Growing up, we had Dachshunds and maybe I am touched by memories, but the minute I saw him I knew that he was a special guy and I immediately thought of Earlene.
Even though it did not work out, her heart is beaming that this special little guy will come to her home for visits and who knows….maybe slumber party with his "Nana"!
Enough about the critters….I do hope that you enjoyed today's card…I think that it is fun, clean, classic and very duplicable!
It is Thursday and you know what that means….time to play with the Pals Paper Art Challenge and today is a sketch and I have a confession..I was STUMPED!!! I was having such a brain block as I look at sketches and take them too literally.
Does this every happen to you???…all I could see was using stars but I was determined to do something different! Todays card I used the lots of labels framelits to do the job! This framelit was introduced in the Annual Catalog ans it is a keeper. (It fits with so many of our stamps)
Let's get to this fun and whimsical card! As you know…it's hip to be square and this is a 4 1/2" square card using the thick whisper white card stock. If you have not used this yet, hit that SHOP NOW button and treat yourself to it (you'll never go back)!
I just adore the paper stacks, and these polka dots are just plain old fashion FUN at its best! There is something just magical and special when you see a bright red and green together at the holidays.
You can clearly see that the label framelits were the star of this clean and simple card. The "peek" of red was just one framelit cut in half and adhered behind. It is "just enough" to give the card balance and then let the pom-pom trim shine!
Did you notice the white dots around the Tip Top Taupe shape? This is something that I do all of the time and the white gel pen is a dear friend…I love it and always have a spare ready, just in case I run dry! (Heavens, that would be terrible) This simple touch makes a big statement and basically costs nothing but it does so much!
I knew that the fun polka dots needed a little something fun = THE POM-POM TRIM! Is that the cutest or what? An instant smile came on my face when I saw this in the catalog….just use it in bits and pieces and you will make a great statement.
I added a glue dot to adhere the pom-pom trim and also added a white cotton bow to hide the area of the trim I cut. I also added a glue dot behind the 3rd pom -pom to hold it in place and then the trim hung perfectly!
The custom envelope came together in a cinch with the envelope punch board….so fast and easy! To add a bit more interest to the envelope, I first adhered a 1/4" Tip Top Taupe and then added the cucumber crush polka dot fun paper!
Now I ask you…..how would you interpret this sketch? I invite you to hop over to the Pals Paper Arts Site and see what the other designers came up with….( I had a sneak peek earlier this week and WOW – there are some super cute cards !
Thanks for popping in…and I hope to see you back here tomorrow as I am going to showcase some goodies from the weekly deals! You will smile!
Good Morning and this card just might be in the running for my Holiday Card! Guess that means that I like it….well I do and I hope that it "tickles your fancy" as well! I had a sweet nudge from my friend Brian King to play along with this new challenge that he is a a designer for!
I hope that you will as well as not only are the designers from all over the world – it is an FUN challenge and I encourage you to hop on over to their website to check it out…and the play along – you have nothing to lose! Here is the sketch that inspire my card!
I knew exactly what I was going to do when I saw this sketch! I have just been "itching" to ink up the Peaceful Wreath Stamp Set and remember my motto this week…"When John's away, Susan will play" We have been having some beautiful weather and I took my stamped wreath outside and colored away!
I think that I will do a video on this card as it looks like there might be a "hard factor" but there really is not…I say there is a "wow factor" as you can see that the wreath is completely cut out – FUN!
Can you see in the above picture that the crumb cake base was cut out? I just placed the wreath in the "hole" and then on the back side I adhered it with the new MUST HAVE tear & tape. Have no fear, I would never leave the back not solid as that would not be me at all….so all I did was adhere a piece of crumb cake in the A-2 side – DONE!
(I realize that this sounds difficult but I just cut the card base and the extra piece at the same time so I was sure of a perfect cut, I love that you can cut 2 sheets of paper at the same time with the Big Shot)
Linen thread, especially against the crumb cake is always so rich and warm but adding the pop of the real red was the icing on the cake! A simple glue dot did the trick….love those things!
You can see the watercoloring….so easy and relaxing – I highly encourage you to give it a try. It is one of those things that you really can not mess up on and you just get better and better with practice. I truly have "no clue" as to what is right or what is not….I just roll with what works for me! Have fun with colors – mix it up!
You can see that there are (2) colors on the leaves….I first went over them in Pear Pizzazz and then let that dry…then did a quick here and there with old olive….works for me – what do you think?
I just LOVE this new Designer Series Paper Stacks and I even love it more when it is in the In Color like this is (Mossy Meadow) as you get (4) sheets and when you cut the paper like I did for this envelope….you will be able to do 12 envelopes per sheet of paper!
This is the paper stacks that I have in my product shares (#7)….it is just the best that you will get a 1/2 sheet of each of the patterns in every color…Regals, Subtles, Neutrals, Brights and the In Colors1
I did heat emboss the sentiment but you could easily use white Staz On but I really enjoy heat embossing and i think the sharpness of white just makes it POP! I was super excited to be able to use the NEW enamel dots…these are the best and I could use them in many colors!
There you go…..I hope that you like it as much as I did – it is to me, a warm and inviting card that will be remembered! If you would like to see a video of this card, please leave me a comment – I would adore sharing with you the ins and outs more in detail – you know me….I love to share and help you learn!
Thanks for your time, please email me if I can be of help and remember to use the hostess code of YHNMUJNJ to take advantage of your gift from me!
You can click here to see the goodies that I will send to you! I have a beautiful table full of "dot boxes" and they look so fun when you see them – instant smile!
Speaking of instant smile – EDDIE UPDATE: He is either going to start laying eggs and getting feathers as he is LOVIN' his egg and turkey menu! I am so proud of him as he has not missed a meal – a great appetite and I am hoping when John comes home he think he looks heavier.
Remember that I told you about how he likes the horses bucket…well I brought one up to the house by the back door and Daisey Mae (my dear little fat piggie) knocked it over but this doesn't stop him…..gotta love this picture!
Here you go….the stepped up version of yesterdays card – Please click here to see yesterdays post and then below you will see both of the cards side by side to see the differences and which one you like better (I like them both but you know what I am going to say = it comes down to time as I think they are both great)
As I shared with you yesterday, this is a great bundle….super simple Christmas Trees are always a classic and the sentiments in this stamp set are equally as special!
Below you will see the differences that I made. Again, it is not that they are huge differences…but they are little changes that do make a difference, especially when you are holding them side by side.
It was hard to get a great picture of the gold stars and then the heat embossing with the Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder….it is a subtle but fun shimmer! Yesterday, I just used the versamark but let it dry…today I sprinkled the "shimmer dust" and the heat tool came out to make is shimmer and shine!
To do the tree trunks was super easy. I just took a wee bit of soft suede scraps and just ran the "trunk part"through the big shot with the framelit. (You could also easily freehand cut them out but this works perfectly)
The little fru-fru of the gold thread does set off the gold stars and shimmer. I just love the boldness of the real red ribbon against the warm feeling of the crumb cake!
I was thinking….this paper stack gives you (24) of these polka dot sheets which means that you would be able to make 48 envelope liners from one stack of paper….not this is what I call super practical!!!! Love those dots but I also like the plaid that is in this stack – you'll be seeing that in another post!
There you go my friends…another 2 day post for you to see some simple changes that can make. There are times that you are in a "Saturday mode" and then there days that we are in a "Sunday mode"…that's what makes this whole stampin' fun journey so much fun for each of us!
Remember, what ever mode you are in….
they are gifts of Art from you Heart….just go get inky!
Yesterday I was working on the super cute boxes for those of you that purchased $50.00+ from me this month….they are super cute! Please remember to use the hostess code of YHNMUJNJ and click here to see the fun box and also the embossing folder that will be yours with a $75.00+ order! (actually you will receive both with the $75.00 order)
We had a most needed day of rain yesterday so today, I am going to have an affair with some weeds that are calling my name! Thanks for popping in….you all are the best!
Until tomorrow….
p.s. – We are on 3rd base…..Eddie ate 3 meals in a row…this is a 1st for about 2 weeks – he had a big day yesterday! I hid a basket of tennis balls in a closet and we played a game…..
Hello my friends and welcome to Simple Saturday! I think we all can agree that this is a SIMPLE yet CLASSIC card that I think anyone would be thrilled to receive! I have a confession…I have really…really let Crumb Cake down – 2 years ago I used crumb cake probably 3-4 times a week…and then we took a break!
Well, dear Crumb Cake is back for me! WHY? I think it is a fabulous neutral and it creates an instant "homeand comfort" feel! Remember, Stampin' Up! has matching envelopes for the A-2 Card size (what I am using today) and it also is available in the note card size.
By now you know I am SIMPLE….I used to struggle so much with trying to figure out how to add a hill…..how to ground trees to look more authentic…and then I decided (especially when time is of the essence) I just do nothing….like todays card and guess what – it works! As Nike say….JUST DO IT! (trust me ~ no one would ever look at this card when they received it and say – WOW…she is slipping – she just "plunked" 3 trees in a card!)
The star of this card is the Peaceful Pines Photopolymer Bundle. It does come as a stamp set alone, but this is another one that I would definitely get the bundle…WHY?- easy…you'll save an instant 15% and these tree framelits are fabulous and make it sooo darn easy to mass produce.
You can clearly see the value of this and the time it will save you by purchasing it as a bundle. This will provide you years and years of amazing and classic projects! Please grab another cup of coffee and enjoy this short video that Stampin' Up! put together about this bundle.
Enjoy the pictures I have for you today and then I hope that you will POP back tomorrow for a "stepped upversion" – still simple, still clean….just a couple of extras!
I think that Old Olive against crumb cake is very classic. I am also a huge fan of Always Artichoke, but to me for the trees, it is too dark!
You can see that this is basically just stamping….cutting out with the framelits and you are basically DONE!
The tip is that the left tree is adhered flat…then the large one to the right is lifted up with Stampin' Dimensionals and then lastly, the small tree in the front has (2) layers of dimensionals!
The stars (which are also in the stamp set) are stamped in versa mark…..this creates a great effect but the real "star" is the simple ribbon and the linen thread bows! This really puts you in the mood for the holidays!
When I adhered the ribbon, I used a simple glue dot. Then I tied a bow and again used a glue dot to adhere. I know that this is (2) steps…but it works for me!
This super FUN paper from the Merry Moments Stack is so darn festive! (how can a big, bold polka dot like this not make you happy)? With the help of the envelope framelit…you have one beautiful card that will clearly make someone smile!
I can't wait for you to see tomorrows….just a little step up but both cards are very fast cards to make….remember – sometimes mass produce is the name of the game and this would be a card that would be great to make a bunch of!
Yesterday was a fabulous day for me – I treated myself to some "me time" with Stanley and Oscar at the barn in Virginia. It was great to see them and I am thrilled that Oscar is progressing with his re-hab and dear Morgan is helping him along. There is nothing like being at the barn!
Many thanks for you sweet and oh so kind comments yesterday….Eddie is snuggled beside me as I type this and his belly is filled with turkey! This is a 1st in a while….he ate in the morning as well as his dinner. A gift, a friend…he is a happy and peaceful jack russell right now!
