Today, January 6th is a day that Stampin' Up! crazed fans have been looking for…the day that a double-whammie happens – The Occasions Catalog AND Sale-A-Bration begins! That in itself deserves a WOOT-WOOT cause you can earn some WOOF-WOOF's!
Before we get to today's super cute card…I need to make you laugh! Last night John said to me..."It amazes me that you all get so darn excited about a new catalog….and then he said – you know….it's a great thing what you all do….I wish more people understood the passion you all have" Now…. I rest my case….IS HE THE BEST OR WHAT!
The catalogs will be on my side bar of my post sometime today but until my dear friend and amazing gu-ru Patsy Waggoner has the time to put them up….here are the links for them! You can grab a cup of coffee….turn the phone off and take it all in!
Click here for the Occasions Catalog

and
Click here for the Sale-a-bration FUN!

Let's get to the card as it makes me smile! I used this stamp set last week and I know that I am going to use it over and over again in many ways as to me it's a keeper and the best thing is…it's FREE and I adore the name – Best Day Ever!

This is blending the best of both worlds! That super fun paper is not a new DSP in the Occasions Catalog…it's a freebie with the Sale-A-bration collection and it is called Irresistibly Yours Specialty DSP( there are 6 different patterns) and the super fun thing about it is…you can add any color to the glossy paper and the images POP!
What do I mean – I used a sponge and dabbed it in the Blushing Bride ink and then "swirled it on the paper" and PRESTO – magic happened! This is one GREAT paper and the ideas are endless! You will get a free 1/4 sheet of all 6 of these fun papers with the paper share that I am offering!

It's hip to be square and today is no different! This is a 4 1/2" card and you can see that it is super sweet and just fun! I used the Banner Framelits to bring the focal point to the forefront.
This stamp set is just too cute for words and I know that I will (hopefully) be able to "stash" some away for future blog candy give-aways!

I lifted this portion up with Stampin' Vitamins aka Stampin' Dimensionals as we all know that these make everything shine!

There are so many things that are a "girls best friend" and today…it is pearls…NEW ribbon and oh…a sweet flower! The perfect finishing touch!

The Envelope Punch Board (which is on SALE THIS WEEK with the weekle deals) and the Subtles Designer Series paper stack was the perfect end to this sweet card! I call these 2 products…."Peanut Butter & Jelly" as they always makes a card shine!
Well…are you excited…..are you making your list and checking it twice?!?!
Please remember that with this New Year, I am offering a rewards program to YOU…for choosing me to help you with your projects! Click here to see the scoop!

Good Morning! I hope that everyone is having a great weekend! I must say…I was having a tough time getting my engine started this weekend but no one came to my "pity party" so I decided to go to the gym…take my mind off of the house and it was a great move!
How about this sweet card to brighten your day….it is rainy and bleak on the East Coast and I need some rays of sunshine! This is a sneak peak of the catalog that is unveiled on Tuesday….48 hours and counting…we all can see it….we all are excited! The stamp set is called So You.
One thing (well there are lots of things) that make me "SMILE" in this new catalog is that there are many, many great sentiments like this that can truly stand on their own! I love the font and I am super happy that we have so many great options with this catalog!

I have a confession, you know that I adore square cards and I must admit….my Envelope Punch Board had dust on it ……which means that I have not made a square card for a while…..those holidays get you in many ways!
Let's get going as I hope that this card "picks you up" and makes you "SMILE".…please feel free to CASE away!
- The Card size is a 4 1/2" Square.
- The white stamped piece is a 3 7/8" square
- The White Mat is 4 1/8" square

- Letting the stamp set do it's magic…it is a 1-2-3- card! A quick POP of a daffodil delight with the 1" circle punch and then some dashes around did the trick!

- Let's get to the Crushed Curry Bakers Twine…I shared with you last week that Bakers Twine is a product that I did not use a bunch in the past and now….I love it! Not only is it the best "bang for your buck" but having multiple strands…makes the WOW happen…quick!
Did you notice that I am using both the Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry at the same time….sometimes it just works! Never be afraid to play with color…..
- Out comes the envelope punch board…I must admit, it felt great to use it and wow – it is so darn tootin' easy! Just folllow the guide on the base and you will never go wrong!
- How about this super fun liner….it is a Sale-A-Bration FREEBIE and it is one that you will want to have! I am having a blast playing with this paper!

(Remember, you can get the swatches and also 1/4 sheets of this paper for FREE with the Occassions Paper and Ribbon Share I am offering….click here to see the post)….I will be ordering 1st thing on Tuesday!
I hope that this clean and simple card brought a smile to your face! Please feel free to email me if you have any questions of this post. I have not used Daffodil Delight a bunch lately – and it brought some sunshime to me today! Yellow always does this for me…a quick "pick me up"
Many thanks for all of the emails and comments about Rosie…she is "perking" up some…but I can say that I have never had a dog have such a hard time. She ADORES John and he left for about 2 hours yesterday and Hannah and I could not get her to stop whining for him!
Below is her in a chair – RIGHT BY JOHN…..putting that darn puzzle together!

Until tomorrow! Enjoy your day….

Now this is a "Susan kind of card"...it makes me smile, it makes me happy, I adore the colors and I just love the simplicity of it! This is what I call a 1-2-3 card and I never get tired of these "secret weapons"
The key and secret of this card is to pick a small pattern paper and it you can find a pattern (like this one) that works both horizontally as well as vertically as you can get 10 cards out of 1 sheet of DSP! This card is all sneak peaks from the new Occasions catalog and Sale-a-bration….the best news is…a week from today you can order all of these goodies!

Let's get going! I hope that you keep this "formula" for future cards!
- The base of the card is my go to – Whisper white Notecards and envelopes….simply could not, would not be without them – I just love them!
- The "star" and focal part of the card is the GREAT paper from the Sale-a-bration catalog…it is called Best Year Ever and it is a fabulous paper….remember, you can get the swatches of this paper free by ordering the color swatches from my product share and trust me….when you see them – you will be doing the happy dance! Click here to see the post!

TIP ALERT: You can 10 cuts of the DSP from one sheet of paper. The size is 3" X 4 1/2". This is how you do it!
Take the DSP and make a 3" cut and then 4 1/2" and you will be left with a 4 1/2" cut…..cut the 3" piece into (2) 3" X 4 1/2" and then to the 4 1/2" strips…cut them intp (3) equal pieces = PRESTO…you will have 10 cuts!
- I matted the DSP with Pool Party just a 1/4" larger = 3 1/4" X 4 3/4" Please do not forget that this is a perfect time to use the "center" of this Pool Party piece to pop out punches….framelits etc….as it will be totally covered by the DSP!

- The focal part is the tag made by the Angled Tag Topper Punch. I POPPED them out with both the white and the Coastal Cabana….and I trimmed the white a "smidge" smaller to create the look I was going for!

- Now to stamping – the fun part! This is a sneak peak from the Sale-a-bration catalog and this great stamp set is FREE with a $50.00 order. This is a super fun stamp – love the font – love the message….
TIP ALERT: Stampin' Up! is GREAT! This stamp set that I have used is called Best Day Ever and the BEST news is that Stampin' Up is offering this set to you in all 3 options….clear, wood and photopolymer! Which one would you pick?
- Using the Sale-a-bration ribbon which is another freebie….and also yours free from me with the purchase of the ribbon share….is the perfect POP of color! I then tied a simple bow with the new white twine that is in the Occasions Catalog!

- I need to show you the inside…a simple stamp of the other sentiment in this set is the perfect touch. I am sure that you can think of so many people to send this card to!
A card would not be a "Susan Card" without a FUN envelope! I did a double whammy today….( I just could not resist) A quick liner to the outer flap of the envelope and then a quick stamp to the front is all that was needed!

Don't you agree…that this just makes the whole project! This card is a super cinch to make up LOTS OF….just do it in steps..
- Pull your paper out and cut it
- Use up your scraps to make the tag
- Do all of your stamping at one time
- Line all of your envelopes at one time
Remember….break your projects down and you will be a happy stamper! So….what do you think? Are you smiling….do you like it….please leave me a comment!
To me it is so practical and fun! Please remember today (Tuesday) is the magical day that Stampin' Up! offers the new weekly deals! Thank you Stampin' Up! for doing this for all of us! Click here to see this weeks goodies!
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about the post or the Product Shares…I am having great feedback and I know that you are going to adore the new products without having to buy "everything"!
WOWZERS – tomorrow is THE LAST DAY OF THE YEAR…hmmmmmmm maybe you need to pop back…..hmmmmmmm maybe there might be some "BLOG CANDY" to end the year…..
Until tomorrow!

by Susan Itell | Dec 27, 2014 | Sale-A-Bration, SNEAK PEEK!!!, Super Easy, Thank You |

Happy Saturday…I am super happy to share this great card with you today for many reasons…this is the type of card that I call a "formula" that you need to keep for future cards…for all different occasions – this is the kind of card that I refer to as a "keeper"
NOTE: I have had a terrible time getting a good picture of this card…I have taken pictures in 3 different lights and I am super frustrated with the end result. This is truly a beautiful card in person, sorry!
Several months ago I received the below card from Karen Hallam. Karen is one of my downline that lives in beautiful California and the minute I saw this not only did I fall in love with the layout…I knew that I would blog about ir in the future.

Karen makes beautiful cards that are always "clean and classic", she does not have a blog but I wish she did as I know that you would adore her work!
Today I am going to share with you the dimensions from start to finish as I really want you to make this card! Have fun with different DSP and your colors. The other thing that is great about this card is the fact that you do not have a bunch of "bulk" to the card – easily a 1 stamp card!

Let's get going! I will put in parenthesis the colors I used for today but I encourage you to keep these measurements for future cards!
- The base is 9 3/4" X 4 1/4" and then scored at 5 1/2". (Sahara Sand)
- The White inside piece is 5" X 3 3/4"
- The outer layers, solid color (Bermuda Bay) is a 3 3/4" square and the DSP (NEW Sale-a-bration paper, Best Year Ever, that is GORGEOUS)is a 3 1/2" square.
- The sentiment part…outer part (Sahara Sand) is 3 3/4" X 1 1/2" and the white is 3 1/2" X 1 1/4"
That is the formula now just have fun with your sentiment and your embellishments is desired!

Today I am using the Fabulous Four Stamp Set, I adore this set and it is simply a must have! I showcased this set for my Stamp of the Month Club this month, truly a very versatile set.
The punches I used today are the Petite Petals Punch, the Owl Punch for the centers of the flowers and the Itty Bitty Accents Punch…all 3 of these are "must haves" as they are super-duper fillers!

Well…thoughts?!?!? Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know how you like it! I can see so many different cards made from this formula…thinking of you and Birthday for sure! I think that this will be a card layout that I will use next month for the Breast Cancer Cards – the ladies will enjoy putting the layers together!
Are you as confused with the day of the week as I am? Wow, when a holiday hits everything gets all twisted around.
We are still having a great family time together making the most of everyday! Our 2,000 piece puzzle is slowly coming together and tonight is GAME NIGHT….I love playing games!

Feel free to email me if you have any questions and please remember to tell your family and friends about my Blog. I love what I do and I love inspiring you! You can hit the subscribe button and get a dose of Simple Stampin'…enjoy the day and until tomorrow!
Thanks Karen for your inspiration…I have this special card hanging in my work area!

by Susan Itell | Mar 31, 2014 | Sale-A-Bration, Thank You |

Did you see what the calendar says!?!? It is March 31st and that means it is time to say good–bye to Sale-A-Bration 2014! It has been a wonderful collection of products! As the saying goes…all good things must come to an end…and I felt it was "fitting" to make a super cute card of thanks!
You know me by now…I always have a method to by madness…this card is making its way to Ted and his wife with some of Ted's favorite cookies…soft and chewy Ginger Cookies and I am also going to submit this to the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge…I loved the sketch!

Let's get going…this is so easy – you do not need me…remember…you can still place an order today and every order reaching $50.00 will allow you to pick a Sale-A-Bration Item…The response from everyone has been so positive this year with what Stampin' Up has offered….they are "on top of it"!!!

- The card is a 5" square card…you know me – I love odd size cards! ( I also felt the sketch lend itself to a square card" The coloe is Pool Party!.
- The Designer Series Paper is a FREEBIE from Sale-a-bration…and this paper is over the top! LOVE IT and I am sooo glad that I have several packs "stashed away"!!!! The size is 3" X 5" and then I matted it with Black – just a smidge larger! ( remember… punch out or use framelits to maximize the black paper….who will ever know!?!?!?!) The Whisper White piece is 2 1/2" X 5" and then I did my "stitch" around the outere edges!

- Do you see the FUN flower? This is from the Flower Shop Stamp Set and then it POPS out perfectly with the Pansy Punch! Did you notice the different colors of petals? I did this by stamping several in Black and then several in Pool Party and then a quick snip – and the help of the "green glue" placed them perfectly!

- Let's get to the "thank – you"….can you say WOWZERS!!!! This is from the March Paper Pumpkin Kit…and I love this kit! I took the wooden piece and put versa mark on it….then Black Embossing power…and then – LET THE MAGIC BEGIN…the heat tool did its magic! I like this angle of this picture…it shows you some of the wood graing – I like the way that looks….it really turns out to be a beautiful focal point!

- Envelope time!!!! I just could not resist! I had to do a DOUBLE WHAMMY!!! 1st – making my own envelope with the Envelope Punch Board was easy…and even easier was the outer lining of the uter flap!
- I felt that the mail man needed a good smile – so I really jazzed that up! I originally was going to put 3 flowers on my card (I always like odd numbers – it's easier on your eyes….creates a good balance)….but 1 was just fine with my card! I wanted to keep the "theme" going…so a strip of pool party and then besides the flower…I stamped "thanks" from one of my all time favorites….the Another Thank You Photopolmyer Stamp Set…works perfectly!

Well…what did you think? I thought it came out super cute! I know that Ted will love it – he has been enjoying my cards! When John is finished with Tax Season, we are going to go down for an overnight to see him….he is soooo brave and truly enjoys company – I know he will love his cookies!
A big THANK YOU for a great Sale-A-Bration…it has been fun…it has been inspiring…I hope that this THANK YOU makes you smile…it is a fun card and I just love a square card!
Remember, today is the last day to sign up for Paper Pumpkin to get the FREE set ($14.95) of In Color Markers…remember – you can "try it" and if you do not "like it" – you can stop! What do you have to loose – NOTHING….with the starter kit you will be able to create some FUN cards…get a Clear Mounting Block and the Markers – all for $19.95!!! That is a WOOT-WOOT!!!!
If you do sign up, please add my name and town ….I know that many of you have had a hard time logging on etc….just add Susan Itell, Williamsport, MD!!!!

Thank you…THANK YOU for such a great Sale-A-Bration…..and remember to sign up for the Paper Pumpkin Program if you wna tthe free markers – it ends today!

by Susan Itell | Feb 28, 2014 | 3-D Projects, Birthday, Sale-A-Bration |

27 years ago today the best thing happened to me…I gave birth to my 1st child, Will! For all of you Mom’s out there – you know what I am talking about as there is something magical about that 1st child with all of the “what if’s”…the “I don’t know what to expect”…the “what do I do now’s”…the whole process is a miracle!
I always knew that I wanted to be a Mom and I was always so hopeful that I would be able to be one. I cherish my children and am so proud of each one of them! It is also so funny how each of your children are so different…. it is these differences that make certain things extra special!
Many months ago I shared with you a book that I adore (Mitten Strings From God) – it is not a religious based book rather a book about just taking time to slow life down and enjoy things…something that I read yearly as it just lets wonderful memories flood into my mind.
It is super scary to me that kids these days do not know how to have “simple and good old fashion fun”…like climing a tree and then repelling from a rope…creating skits/plays…building a huge tower out of cards….playing hide and seek etc…making homemade cookies…just experiencing simple pleasures that create lasting memories!

WOWZERS – what’s up with me….I have been on this Memory Lane a bunch this week…but today is Will’s day and I am so incredibly proud of him! I can still hear his voice when he was a Senior in College saying “Hi Mom, I got a job teaching” and then when I was beaming over the phone and I said where?….and he said China – my heart instantly was filled with joy as I thought WOW – what courage…how amazing to be able to go off on a journey like that…(now I did not know it would have been 4 years)
John and I adore having him in the states and he is sooooo suited to be a teacher! He works at a Montessori School teaching little ones…they call him Mr. Will! I thought that this would be a SUPER cute card for him and something that his children would like!

I knew that I wanted to do the chalk board thing….so off to good old google I went! I stumbled onto this video from Stampin’ Up Demonstrator Dee Slater and it was an inspiration to me – naturally I tweeted it a bit to give it my own twist – and I am super happy with the end result! The way that I cut the paper – it makes (2) perfectly…as I cut the paper in half at the 4 1/4" mark!
I did follow it pretty close but I do like my take on it by using the Black Paper as shown in the video and Soft Suede Core-dinations Paper to give it some texture, depth and sheer fun! To this I used the Hardwood Stamp (when I first saw this stamp…I was a totally YUCK…as it is totally not me but then when I saw samples at Leadership with it – I changed my mind).

When you use a BIG stamp like this…I suggest that you lay the stamp down, ink it, then put a piece of copy paper on it and give it a good rub for maximum coverage! Works like a charm! I used the same color, soft suede ink!
I wanted to use this paper and then use the sanding block on it to exposure some good old fashion texture like an old chalk board! One thing that I did different from the video was that I cut the pieces of the chalkboard at 1/2" – thought it looked sturdier!
Please make sure that you stop back tomorrow as you will see the 2nd part to this gift for Will…it is a classic…one that will frustrate you at the beginning (I'm honest) but once you master it – your heart will be doing the "happy dance" as it's a keeper!
I was a bit worried that it would not "stand up"…but it did…but I still thought it would look cute to put a small piece of linen thread to look like "the chain" that was between the easel sides!

I just took a glue dot and placed it – put a piece of linen thread and then kept pressing my finger back and forth to "take off" the stickiness….so when it was closed and in the envelope – it would not "stick" together! I think it makes it look super cute!
The chalk marker is wonderful…and to this card it is what makes the edges! I used my "handy-dandy" ruler and friend and simply made a 1/8" line on all 4 sides!
Knowing that this had to say "Happy Birthday" I thought that the sentiment from the Sketched Birthday Stamp Set would be perfect…and it is! I used the Embossing Buddy to prepare the Black paper…pulled out the versa mark and stamped the image!!!

Embossing is so fun – something that you are as always excited as your were the 1st time you did it! Using the White Embossing Powder and then the Heat Tool to set it…the magic happened! To get the "effect" – take a sponge dobber and using the white craft ink….."LIGHTLY IN A SWIRLING MOTION" add it to your chalk board!

Pulling out the (2) super Sale-A-Bration items…a big woot – woot, the banner blast stamp set and the banner punch created this super cute banner for the easel! Remember, for every qualifying order I receive for Sale-A-Bration, I will send you a simple swatch book of the designer series paper!!!

One the back side of the easel – I did put a quick sentiment to Will….tomorrows post will be part 2 to Will's Birthday! This "Easel Card" really is a fun and easy project/card to do! You are going to love tomorrows post!

I recommend that you watch the video….make the 3 1/2" X 1 3/4" template handy and mark it EASEL so you will remember it….and you will use it over and over again….
WOW….thanks for all of the responses for the blog candy and this was a super hard one to decide!!! I read them all and the ones that made my heart beat a bit faster were…..(there was not one that specifically got "the teacher" thing "spot on" as the theme) but I will say….I loved all of the ideas and using the World Map was a GREAT!
#1 – Kathy said…
Since I am not a mom, it is hard for me to relate to that child/parent bond so I have no idea what i would do for a card. But, what I do know is that from daily following your blog, you are a woman who's family is her heart. You love your son but clearly gave him the wings to fly and pursue his own destiny in life. I would guess your card would somehow reflect your love for him (perhaps with a heart) and his love for whatever he loves, which sounds like that would be travel and young children. I also know that whatever the card has on it, it will remind him of how much he is loved.
Happy birthday Will.
I think Will's card will be over the top and filled with love whatever stamp set and paper you decide to use!
Please email me, and let me know what Sale-a-bration item you want….and it's yours! My heart is happy and I am blessed in so many ways! I deeply thank you for being such great cyber friends!

Sorry for the length of today's post but I do hope that you liked it….please say a "Birthday thought" for my dear Will…please pop back tomorrow to continue this fun!
Until tomorrow!
