Step it up Sunday!

IMG_7928

Here you go….basically the same card from yesterday but I stepped it up a bit here and there. I must admit, I get a bit worried that you will be disappointed and look at it an say – "It looks the same" but trust me, when you have them side by side, you can see the difference even though it is so subtle.

Below you will see a collage picture of them side by side with some comments. Please click on the picture to see it larger and I think it will help you.

Underneath I will share with you some tips of what I did! I am so happy that many of you enjoyed this card…this really is a wonderful stamp set and you can see the effectiveness of stamping tone on tone…just wonderful!

PicMonkey Collage

As I shared yesterday, key players for this card are…green glue, silicone craft sheet and craft scissors. It is great that as you work, if you get excess glue…no big deal as the silicone mat to the rescue and the craft scissors make it a dream to cut off the excess!

IMG_7927

Here are the change ups today:

  • I cut the black piece 1/4" smaller to let some white peak out.
  • I added the white gel pen dots to the solid green flower in the back.

IMG_7916

  • After putting stampin' dimensionals to the back of the flower and the sentiment, I added some white bakers twine – this is so easy and it certainly adds a fun and fresh flair.

IMG_7931

IMG_7933

Let's touch on the banner, I had some emails about it. It is a 1" strip of paper and I used the NEW punch that cuts (3) different banners in a simple punch. It is a must have speed tool when the new catalog comes out.

Sure we can easily make our own cuts for a banner but this is a dream punch – a true time saver and then I added the dots with the Cucumber pen – easy-peasy!

IMG_7934

One FUN card full of color and just think if the endless color combinations you can use! No rules….just have fun! Please remember that tomorrow will be your last day to take advantage of getting the hexagon punch at 25% off.

Thanks for popping in and I hope that you are having as fun of a weekend as I am.It is wonderful to see Hannah so happy with her school and her friends!

I do invite you to consider taking a test drive with me and Stampin' Up! The Pals are fun and inspiring, I think that I am fun as well and you have nothing to lose….please feel free to email me and I will be happy to answer any questions you might have!

I hope to see you tomorrow….

Step it up Sunday!

Th

Good Morning and I want to give a HUGE shout out to all of the Mom's out there….Happy Mothers Day! I hope that you have a wonderful day doing whatever makes you happy and give yourself a big WOOT-WOOT for having one of the hardest but most rewarding jobs…being a Mom! I would not trade it for the world for anything!

Here you go…here is a "stepped up version" and the fun thing about this card is the main difference is "POP"…the way that had the sentiment POP!

IMG_7777

Please read and feel free to click on the image to make it bigger so it is easier to read. I made my own "springs" to POP up the sentiment…it was super easy and fun, just  strips of paper scored at 1/2" and then adhered with glue dots.

PicMonkey Collage

Both cards are fun but I really like the way the sentiment POPS on todays card. I also reversed the colors of the card stock and today I heat embossed the sentiment with white – this ALWAYS makes it fun! I also lightly sponged the edges to soften the stark white on the layering circle.

IMG_7784

Ready for the fun side view of the sentiment! It is super fun in person and I hope that you give it a try as the effect is fabulous – all you do is make equal scored lines…fold them up like an accordion…add some glue dots…and SUPER POP….right off of the base, no stampin' dimensionals today!

IMG_7780

This really is fun and super easy as you are the one that decides how many folds to make it to get the desired effect that you are going for! The other great thing about this is that when you put it int he envelope, it is super flat.

IMG_7783

I also decided to make the envelope today in soft suede, I figured – why not??? We have a white gel pen that I can write the address on…again, have fun switching up things and try to break out of the norm that we sometimes get into!

IMG_7775

I did hear from Will (my oldest peep) and he did complete his part of the run! He ran at 3 different times….4 p.m. – 9 p.m. and then 2 a.m. – When I asked him if it was fun, he said "Of course but it was a bit chilly in the night"….the sense of adventure he has!

The sentiment for the inside, still from the Bravo stamp set is PERFECT for him! I think that these 3 words summed it up….way to go! Remember, having sentiment stamp sets as a quick "go to" is key in making cards in a jif! When in doubt – go for the sentiment stamp sets….you can always jazz them up with paper!

IMG_7788

That's it! A fun card that I know will make Will smile when he receives it this week along with some brownies! As healthy and fit as he is, he still adores his Mom's brownies and I am sure it will bring a smile to his face!

Enjoy your day…do everything and nothing all at the same time! We have out of town guests from the UK staying with us and we are going to take a drive thru the beautiful Virginia countryside…stopping at some local vineyards…and then going to the barn to show them Stanley (Hannah's horse that is in Virginia)….a perfect day!

Thanks for popping in and I hope that this 2 day post has encouraged you to make a different shaped card and to make your own set of "springs" to POP an image off the card base!

Step it up Sunday!

IMG_7688

Well….here it is – a quick stepped up version! There isn't much difference or time element to put into it but I hope that you can see that making these simple changes will do the job!

I loved everyones comments yesterday and I responded to many of them while watching the Kentucky Derby! I am sorry that some of you had some "hiccups" in viewing my blog yesterday – it was a Typepad issue and I am always at the mercy of the "cyber gods" to make things right!

Please click this image below so you can see the cards better and also read the text!

PicMonkey Collage

Let's get to it and I will explain the changes I made for today's card….a huge WOOT-WOOT to "mamajulie" who left me a comment and she was exactly right – I used the 3/4" circle punch NOT the 1/2" punch – great catch and THANKS (I am so glad that you made this card yourself, I am sure that it looks great)

IMG_7687

  • The size is the same, a 4" square card and then the navy is 1/4" smaller and than run through the big shot with the super fun Polka Dot embossing folder!
  • I used the 3/4" circle punch to pop out the garden gree circles and then adhered them to the navy with my friend  = "green glue"
  • Next, I took the deco framlit and cut out the middle and then using (2) of the deco framelits I made a simple mat in garden green to adhered that to the polka dot base.

IMG_7691

  • I used a bunch of stampin' dimensionals to POP up the blue dot part! Then I snuggled the sentiment in the stamped/cut out area and laid it flat…love it!
  • The finishing touch was the simple white dots made with the white gel pen, a must have accent tools but remember, it does take a bit longer to dry so be patient along with a simple heart to give it a bit of bling.

IMG_7693

  • Yesterday I adhered the back flap of the envelope…today I did the inside…just wanted to change it up a bit! (I adore this DSP – if I could purchase a a dozen sheets of this yummy navy and white paper = DONE!

IMG_7690

Well…there you go my friends! I hope that you have enjoyed this 2 day post and I also hope that I have inspired you that making some simple changes can make a difference. They both are great and classics but you can see there are always options!

Pop back tomorrow as I am switching my schedule a bit but when you see the post – you'll understand why! I am so happy that you all enjoyed seeing the sneak peak of the new In Colors, I am thrilled with them and I am super excited to play!

I will be able to do a pre-order on Tuesday and with that pre-order I will be ordering the new catalogs! I will be sending to all of the wonderful customers that have order from me a copy of the new catalog.

If you are currently not working with Stampin' up! demonstrator,

I would be honored to help you.

If you would like me to mail you a catalog, please email me with your address and I will be happy to do so. I know that there are sooo many wonderful SUD out there and I encourage you to find the "right fit", but if you are not working with someone I would love to have fun with you!

I love what I do and I love helping you! What we do does make a difference…..you know it and so do the people that receive your works of art!

Until tomorrow!

Step it up Sunday!

IMG_7615

Well….I think that yesterday's card was fun…and I know that there are not many changes for today but I hope that you can see that making subtle changes and also changing the orientation of the card makes a huge difference.

When I first started with card making, I always just made cards in the regular horizontal position like yesterdays card! WHY??? I really do not know, it was probably just the way that I learned and truthfully I think I was just comfortable with it!

Let's see what today's card is about…I simply changes it to a vertical A-2 card and then added the Rich Razzleberry as a mat and presto – a different look.

IMG_7611

I hope that you can see that making a super quick and super simple change will give you a different look. I invite you to play with paper. Paper is a very fast and easy way to change the feel of your work. (Remember, when you have a large mat that is going to be covered up…punch it out to save paper)

IMG_7612

Basically the card is the same….same dots around the edge (I love my dots) and the same with the flowers – one is mounted flat, the other "double" dimensionals. I think using the mat of color gives instant depth.

IMG_7613

This is a super simple card but a card layout that you will use over and over – basic shapes…great stamps…a winner every time.

Envelope love in 2 ways – the back flap embossed with the fun polka dots and the front with the stamps that I already had out…so why not!?!?

IMG_7618

Please click here to see yesterdays post to see the difference between the (2) cards. I personally think that you would not go wrong with either one. I think it is fun changing the orientation of the cards and please have fun with using all sorts of DSP and colors of paper!

Remember, the retiring list is out and there are many stamp sets that many of you love so you better snatch them up now and also the accessory retiring list is M E L T I N G ….these are while supplies last!

I hope that you have enjoyed this weekend fun of cards…which one do you like??? Do you tend to do more vertical or horizontal cards??? Feel free to leave a comment or send me an email!

Until tomorrow!

Step it up Sunday!

  IMG_7447

I just love these 2 day challenges ~ I do appreciate the emails that I have received from many of you that you also enjoy these postings! Every week I say to myself – what can I come up with??? and it always seems to work out. I encourage you to try to look at a project that you make and then say – what can I do to change it up a bit.

Doing this will help you continue to develop a style of your own and it will help you reach to try new things. Sometimes you will feel like you like the "easier one" or the "stepped up" one makes you roll…whichever, it is a personal choice and sometimes it also come down to time.

Here are the cards side by side (click on the image to make it larger)

PicMonkey Collage

I am just in love with this simple flower! As I commented in yesterday's post, this stamp set is on the weekly deals and remember that they are only good thru (tomorrow night), Monday! Hands down, the sentiments are fabulous but I am "head over heels" with the flower images as they are just so simple!

137170G

Let's get to the card today – I did not give you the dimensions yesterday so here you go (I know you like that)

Untitled

  • A-2 vertical card in whisper white and then another piece 1/4" smaller (5 1/4" X 4")
  • The black band is 1" wide and long enough to wrap around the white piece and then the vellum is 3/4"

IMG_7438

  • The punches are the 2 3/8" Scallop Punch and the 1 3/4" Circle Punch
  • The "Thanks" is stamped in the White Craft Ink (This is something that I would recommend having around, true you do not use if often but when you do…it makes a fun statement)

IMG_7435

  • The tiny flowers are from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Set and then I used the small SU hole punch for the centers for the centers of the flowers and the white gel pen for the dot (you could easily use a small pearl but that would most likely bump you into extra postage)
  • I carried on the white gel pen and black marker dashes and dots….(remember, that the white pen does take a bit longer to dry so be careful that you do not touch it too soon.)

IMG_7432

  • Lastly the envelope….super cute! (darn, I love this flower!!!)

Well, there you go! Personally I do not think you could go wrong with either card. The vellum just gives it a different feel and in person it really is stunning. I know that we do not use vellum a bunch but I think that this (like the white ink pad) a great item to have in your craft area.

The biggest obstacle with Vellum is hiding the adhesive. This was easy with this card as I used the adhesive (I used glue dots = EASY) on the back of the band and then under the scallop circle and itty bitty flowers.

Please feel free to share with everyone your thoughts…remember to email me your answers for the BLOG CANDY challenge I put your way on Friday, click here to see that post!

p.s. – I have had ?'s about the number of retired stamp sets for the Blog Candy…(1) stamp set is the stamp set name not (1) being wood mount, (1) being clear mount etc….for example if Mothers Love is to be discontinued that would count as (1) stamp set NOT (3) because of it being in different mounts.

Good luck and HAVE FUN – I have been loving your responses and I am equally as excited to see the list on Tuesday! Please pop back tomorrow for a Monday fun challenge!

Step it up Sunday!

IMG_7126

Well….here you go – basically just (2) subtle changes! This card just makes me smile and you know what else this card would make…a super gift – You could make a dozen of these and make (3) different sentiments in (4) different color combinations and WOW – you will have a super special gift that anyone would love.

I am sure that you can hardly see the changes but when you hold them in your hand you can see that the little "stepped up" touches are just seconds to do but do "dress it up"!

IMG_7139

One thing that I forgot to mention yesterday was that when you "double up" on the flowers like I did…it does make a difference to stamp one on the card and then layer the other one with the glue dot over it. This makes it look great when you curl up the flower petals!

IMG_7127

One the above photo you can see that I added the little pearl – this makes it a bit more special but if you did not have a pearl, you could also use the white gel pen and that would do the trick as well! Do you see the little "trio dots" – you know me, this is something that I love to do and it does add depth to your stamped image!

IMG_7128

The other trick I did was (2) simple scored lines on both the top and the bottom of the stamped image piece. I liked to turn the stamped image down so the scoring lines are up! This takes simply seconds and makes a huge difference with add no additional product.

IMG_7122

One cute card! Have fun with color…have fun with different sentiments…just have fun! That IS the name of the game as without fun we will be stressed and grumpy and that's not fun!

I am having SUPER FUN with Hannah and she had a great day yesterday. The whole barn had a great day. It is just wonderful to be with my barn friends and seeing beautiful horses show their athletic beauty. Jack has spring from the Vets and is happy to be home with his buddies!

Tomorrow is a personal challenge for you from me…I think that you will like it = I am going to give you a hint…it uses (3) pieces of paper and shapes that you all can do!

Thanks for popping in, feel free to email me and until tomorrow….stampin' hugs!

p.s. – I forgot something….on today's card I did pop it up with stampin' dimensionals = we all know that this simple touch always makes a huge difference. On Saturday's card, I simply kept it a flat card.
