I told you that I was going to share with you this week how to use up DSP that I know we all have in our work areas…I will try to inspire you to USE IT UP…We bought it because we liked it…so ask yourself – how can I use it up!
I think many of us are fearful of using a bold pattern like this one but just look at these colors, they are yummy…and keeping the sentiment simple is all that is needed!

Here is another single stamp….just love them. This is a wood mount stamp and I wish that you could see how stained the wood part is….I have used it a TON!!! I love the look of water-coloring….it is so fun and whimsical.
The linen thread is making a return – I think that the color and texture is perfect with this print. Use a simple glue dot to hold it in place – love those little dots!

The other thing that I think makes this such a “statement card” is the richness of the Very Vanilla…don’t get me wrong – I adore white but there is an instant warmth to this! If you have this print…and have found it hard to use…try something special like this….they would also make a super gift of notecards for a friend!

Here is your “scoop” for you pinterest love….just hover over the picture and pin it away for the future! Pinterest is a fabulous site and truly makes it easy for you to refer back to.

One last peak….I hope that you liked it….I hope that it inspired you to look at the DSP that you have stashed away….PULL THEM OUT…and put them on a card…you’ll be happy and the person that you send it to will smile!

You know what today is….Tuesday Deals……click here to see the offerings. I blogged yesterday that next Tuesday the 18th will be the last day but please do not worry, Stampin’ Up! will be offering special throughout the year (I am sure that they will be great)
I hope to see you tomorrow…..it is a BLOG HOP……Let’s go to the hop….let’s go to the hop!!!! 🙂 Have a great day….thanks for being you!!!

Well….good morning! It is Friday…really? – I am sooo confused when we have a holiday…Are you wondering what is up with the title of this post?
Let me explain myself. I think that there are times that we have "sleeper stamps" that are in the catalog and then when you give them a try…work to figure out a way to use it (especially after you bought it) – this is the way that I felt about the Writing Notes Stamp. It is a single stamp and you know how I feel about single stamps!
It is a super big stamp and I feel strongly that when you use a BIG stamp like this, buy it in the wood mount – it is so much easier to use and also ~ ink it up with the stamp facing up and bring the stamp pad to it (you will get a better ink coverage)

There is a story behind this card. My wonderful hubby is a CPA – now most people think that CPA's work just during tax season and then play…well I am here to tell you…that is soooooo not true! We have these special dates all year long that the stress factors in the house rise a bit….and September 15th is one of those days!
He has been swamped with work and he had 2 employees that went "that extra mile" to help him pull together a big project and he asked me if I could make a card for him and he was going to put Movie Tickets into the card so they could take their family out for a fun evening!
Well…you know my answer….Of course I will!!!

The card is an A-2 card in Pacific Point and then the white piece is 3 3/4" X 4 3/4" and then I stamped it with the new gray ink (LOVE IT!!!) The thing I really like about the basic stamp is that you just can't go wrong – if it's crooked – that's ok…it is just a great whimsical stamp!
The "Thank You" is another single stamp, Thank You (how original) and the real red ink makes it POP! The star is from the very popular set, Watercolor Wishes…this is a great stamp set not only for the sentiments but also for the images, like this star. (remember you can click on the image in the below scrolling store to pop it up larger to view)

Below you will see this sweet and fun card without the Movie Tickets in the clothes pin. Aren't these clothes pins adorable and oh so functional as well. The cotton bow and the Bakers Twine adds a completeness to the card…I just think it is super fun!

I hope that you enjoyed today's card. I know that I should have shown you another goodie from the NEW Holiday Catalog but I just could not resist after I made these up for John. You know me….I will continue to share with you new catalog projects!

Let's all have a great weekend! Many thanks for taking time to pop in and see me today! I deeply appreciate your time and I hope that you find my blogging helpful to you.
You know what the weekend brings…Simple Saturday…Step it Up Sunday! You will smile and inspired.
Here is an Eddie update: – His will to continue on is making his momma melt. Yesterday morning is wasn't himself at all and I thought I would see if he would come down to the barn with me. He did and he loves to drink out of a big water bucket that the horses drink from.
I filled one up and then walked away and peeked around the corner and it was adorable, his little paws up on the bucket drinking water so I know that he is staying hydrated. I carried him back up to the house and the minute I walked in the house he started to wiggle out of my arms as he saw a tennis ball! See…he still has a Jack Russell spunk in him.
We had a mini ball game in the family room and he had FUN! When we leave the house, we kennel our dogs and it is priceless…Eddie always has at least 2 tennis balls as his friends!
He has not been eating much and has become very picky but my motto is…What Eddie wants…..Eddie gets. He enjoyed some turkey last night. Everyday is a new day and I truly look at each day is a gift…for many reasons!
Until tomorrow….make someone smile today! You'll be happy!

by Susan Itell | Aug 23, 2015 | Step it up Sunday!, Thank You |

Good Morning…..hopefully we can have a cup of coffee together while we look at the Stepped Up version of yesterdays card. I am so glad that you all enjoy these 2 day posts that I do on Saturday and Sunday’s. Please click here to see yesterday’s post.
I know that it is super obvious that I added the flowers…those darn itty bitty accent punches get “worked out” sooooo much – just love how that little touch adds a pop of fun.
(click on the image to make it much larger)

Here is the main difference of the card today and it is super easy.
- The base of the card is a 4 ½” square of Bermuda Bay
- The white card is a 4 ¼” card and then I added another layer (that is what we stamp on) …this is a 4” square.
Now before you say what I know many of you are saying…this just uses so much paper!?!? Yep, it does BUT when you hold it in your hand…the layers of paper make it go to a quick WOW!

I adore paper and truly paper is not the expensive part to this fun that we have (some make call it an addiction….and if so than this is the best addiction one could ever have)
Think about it…you are using 1 sheet of White Paper (22 cents for a sheet and if you are using the Thick White Card Stock 29 cents per sheet…and the Bermuda Bay is 7 cents!
I am now using the Thick Card Stock for all of the bases of my cards, you can use the lightweight for the stampin’ part as the whites match perfectly! To me it makes a HUGE difference and I sure hope that Stampin’ Up! comes out with this weight of paper in the Very Vanilla.

The card is the exact same size as yesterday’s card and the envelope punch board was my friend again…amazing that this is just $15.00 today and you can see that having a pool party envelope makes it special even before you open the envelope to see the card!
I just love my envelopes! To me they are well worth the effort. It’s like I always have a better day when my bed is nice and made and the pillows are JUST RIGHT….(We have a ton of decorative pillows on our bed and John always says…are these really necessary….YEP!
Now lets talk about how I lined the envelope on the inside with the fun print….easy and it is 3 words…ENVELOPE PUNCH BOARD!
I will do my best to walk you through it and one day I am going to do a video all about envelopes!!!! I learned this from my wonderful Upline Mary Fish….she is simply the best and she has a love of envelopes as well!

After you have made your envelope with the Envelope Punch Board (for a 4 ½” card) follow the below steps…hang on – it is really easy!
- Take a ruler and measure from the pointy part of the envelope flap to the edge of the flap where it folds over.
- Subtract ¼” from that measurement and cut a square. (Isn’t it AMAZING how little paper you will use)
- Take this square to the Envelope Punch Board and move it to the right 1/8” smaller than your square.
- Push the “speech bubble”…pull it away and FLIP if over to the other side and place it right back and PUSH….
- YOU ARE DONE…adhere to the inside of your envelope and SMILE!
Wasn’t that super easy. Please feel free to email me if you have and questions but it really is easy!

You can clearly see that you cannot go wrong with either card. Both of these stamp sets are super ones and it is fun to look at what you have to work with and see how you can incorporate different stamps together to get a great end result!
Enjoy your day and I cannot wait to share with you tomorrow another way to use the Envelope Punch Board! Until tomorrow!

by Susan Itell | Aug 14, 2015 | Masculine, Super Easy, Thank You |

Please do not click me off because this card is sooooooo boring…..
there is a story behind ii!
Last evening after James finished work, I needed to take him to pick up his car that was being worked on. When he hopped out of the car he said that he needed to stop at CVS to pick up a card for his intern that is having his last day today.
I looked at him and said…”James – what am I CHOPPED LIVER…..do you remember what your Mom does???” We both laughed and he said that he didn’t want anything fancy as it was for a young man around 21.
As I drove home I planned this simple card in my head and I knew exactly what to do ~ it was just killin’ me…no ribbon or twine…no punches…no dashes or dots….just a “Plain James” card.

Well…I must admit – it is really not that bad. I think that it is super hard to come up with clean and simple Masculine Cards and I will say that this paper is very fitting for a masculine card. The DSP is Typeset and it is just a very neutral collection.
The card is an good old A-2 size and then the “grid design” is just ¼” smaller = 5 ¼” X 4” . Here is a tip on how I decide what size of the vanilla paper I will need for the sentiment. Because I used the stamp-a-ma-jig, after I stamped it on the clear plastic piece I took my ruler and measured it roughly to determine the size I would need.

Now I know you are going to ask me what the size is…and I will add it to the post in the morning – I am sitting in bed with ice on my ankle and now my knee to as that is hurting from the “hobbling around” I then added ¼” to the size for the black piece.

Yesterday I had a comment on how do I do my envelopes with DSP. I am so glad that I was asked this. Sometimes I think that we take things for granted and heck….if you do not ever ask, you will never know so I am thrilled to do a quick run through.

It is so simple. If I am covering the back flap I cut a piece of DSP or cardstock to 2 ½’ wide by 6” long. The pictures below will help you and then I take the “green glue” and run a small bead of glue all the way around.

TIP ALERT: The best way not to get too much is to never “lift” the tip of the green glue up….just gently squeeze to get a thin bead of glue. IF you do get TOO MUCH – no worries, just set it aside and let it dry or set up a bit….it will just get a bit firmer and then when you put your DSP on it….it will not ooze out!
Simply rub a dub dub….and then flip it over and trim away the excess. ANOTHER TIP: – PLEASE DO NOT STRESS about getting a perfect cut. Trust me, just do the best job that you can and no one will ever know the difference. That is it my friends!

Now to the next funny thing….after James and I went through this whole thing about the card…I ended up making (6) of them for James to keep at work as he truly is wonderful in writing notes to people ~ John walked in the door and saw the cards on the Kitchen table and said…”Now I like these, can I take them to work!”
So the moral of the story is don’t underestimate keeping it simple. I know that it is not one of my usual cards but at the same time, it is true to my style!
This weekend I have a treat for you….when you see tomorrow’s card you are going to say – THAT IS NOT SIMPLE….but I will help you see that it really is simple.
It’s like looking at a recipe, many times if we see a recipe that lists a ton of ingredients we pass on it….and when you see the card tomorrow you will say, that looks hard…but I am here to help you!
Then….I already have the “stepped up version” ready for Sunday and I think that the little changes will make you smile! I was super pleased with it.
Thanks for being simply the best! Please remember that shopping away in your jammies is totally normal!!! (hint-hint) – as my Mom always said, referrals are the best form of advertisement so please share my blog and passion I have with my paper crafting fun!
Woot-Woot – the weekend is here…I hope that you will be able to pop in over the weekend and I hope that “MY GUYS” card today showed you that less is best and it works!
Until tomorrow!

I have a confession…I am glad that yesterday is behind me…WHY? I wanted to have a pitty party for myself but no one would come! My knees are sore from crawling around as there are places that my scooter cannot wheel around to and it is easier to just crawl….the dogs look at me like I am crazy….ok – I am over my ranting as I know that this all will pass and I will be good as new soon!
The Blog Hop was SUPER fun yesterday….I treated myself to some "me time" all propped up with pillows….and the computer to myself to go HOPPING away….the PALS are great and the ideas and inspiration is over the top!
Speaking of over the top….This single stamp is Over the Top! You now that I adore single stamps as I think that they really give you a big bang for your buck and this one….WOW – it certainly makes a statement!

The inspiration for this card came from the magazine that all demonstrators receive bi-monthly. They showed in in white which is stunning and spritz-it it with some shimmer, but because I was feeling "blue" I decided to make a blue card…..well kinda of blue – pool party! (I not that blue for Lost Lagoon, and Night of Navy was out as I have so much to be thankful for….Pacific Point was just to bold…..so Pool Party it is!)
I wanted to snap out of my mood so I thought…hmmmm – what makes me happy when I stamp? BINGO – heat embossing….it brings a smile to your face each and every time…INSTANT MAGIC!
I love the effect of heat embossing with the clear powder….it always gives such a WOW and seeing the whole transformation with the help of the heat tool….well….that's when the smile comes – MAGIC!

Let's talk about this simple flower….does it look familiar to you? I used it yesterday on my blog, click here to see that post if you missed it….(I really am trying to showcase several cards using the same stamp set for you)…this is also a single stamp!
The bolder flower is stamped "full strength" and then I stamped the lower one "off" to make it softer. Remember, the punches are perfect to make this card a quick and super easy card. (you can see what I used in the scrolling store at the end)

I told you…I warned you….that these metal rimmed pearls are going "keepers"..and just look – I just love the effect and do you see something else that I used…the new silver thread! This is sooooooo easy to use, I just put a thin film of mono glue….let it dry a bit and then looped the thread before I anchored it down!
One thing that I highly suggest with BIG stamps like this…buy them in the wood mount – WHY? They are so much easier to get a clean stamp…your hand fits right around…This stamp is so big that I could not use the stamp-a-ma-jig sheet with it.
Below you will see how I improvise and the best thing is…I can tuck it in my stamp set and be ready for the next time = win-win!

You can see how the clear embossing shines in the picture, when you hold it in your hand it is just a beautiful card. When I heart emboss I like to mount the embossed mat to the card base. Sometimes you get a bit of warping with the heat tool and the "type A" comes out!

So….what do you think? I am super happy with it and I can see myself using this stamp a bunch! I will be sure to share with you more ideas using this single stamp!
Today is going to be a GREAT day….I can feel it! Many thanks to those that ordered the Watercolor Wishes Stamp Set from me…I have a couple more pictures to take using the "stepped up versions" and then I will send them your way.
Please make sure that you pop back to the post on Saturday and on Sunday where I featured this beauty and will be happy to send to those who purchase it from. They will be pictures of how I added a little extra to this spectacular kit…please hit that shop now button and just think – you could get the kit and also this stamp I am featuring today and you will earn 2 Paw Prints from my rewards program!
Please feel free to email me…let's all have a great day!

Hello everyone….we have 5 new friends that will be with us for 2 years and I am super excited as I can honestly say that they all are dynamite! Now I know that Mint Macaron seems to be a favorite so I thought I would pass on that today….
And then there is Delightful Dijon….poor color…there are not as many that like this one but I will think that you will fall in love with it especially in the fall…I adore the boldness of both Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush…and to bring the family together, Tip Top Taupe…a fabulous neutral that we have been needing !

I am going to let the pictures tell the story of this clean and classic card. I love the fact that it uses a single stamp and then there are coordinating punches to use to make the WOW happen! Remember, you can see the whole line up in the scrolling store at the end of the post!

The "thickness" of the sentiment really makes a statement but it totally finishes the card. Next time you place an order, throw some coater board in the shopping cart….it does come in handy!

Just like clothes….you can not go wrong with Black and White with a POP of color! This is a simple card htat can be made in many sizes of cards, just adjust your measurements!
This flower also looks adorable on a gift bag…it just is FUN!
