“Jane” is back in the house!

Hello and here is to a NEW week and a week of fun on Simple Stampin’. Yesterday when I was down at the barn trying to ignore the fact that it was FREEZING I decided to play a game with myself and plan my week of posts for you and I think that you are going to like what I have in store!

Now the reason I used this title for today’s post is simple….it is a super simple, rather “Plain Jane” card and trust me….it is a keeper! Now if you name is “Jane” – please do not take offense …I have (2) friends named Jane and they are NOT plain at all…actually they are both super fun!

Now how about this A M A Z I N G stamp set that is a part of Sale-A-Bration 2017 and this font is a GRAND SLAM out of the ballpark! Just take a look at this BIG beauty and also, the little sentiment words…fun, clean and classic! Remember, this stamp set can be yours for free with a $50.00 order (before shipping and taxes) but the sky is the limit with how many freebies you can earn….spend $100 – you get to pick 2 goodies…..

I have shared this before with you but I am sure that I have followers that have not heard this. When I started stampin’ up (about 5 years) ago…I thought that the color Sahara Sand was not the best…it was a dirty looking…grayish…..BLAH!!!! Well, was I wrong and I challenge you to give it a try.

Try it with all colors – you will be soooooo amazed. It is truly a neutral that will work with anything and it gives a feel like no other! The size of the Sahara Sand is 4″ X 5 1/4″ and then stamped in Sahara Sand. My stamp pad was well inked and I was thrilled with the look….so much, I stamped 12 of them to have on hand because I just adore this simple card!

Here are a couple of pictures that you will get a kick out of. As I said abouve, I stamped it in Sahara Sand but look at the below picture, I had a “wobble moment” and there was a wee bit of ink that made a mark.

I wanted to show you this because WE ALL KNOW IT HAPPENS TO THE BEST OF US….but there are ways to hide your boo-boo’s! That is why in the end I placed a sequin over top and PRESTO no one would ever know and actually it adds to the card!

Now let’s chat about the other fun of the card….the fireflies! THIS IS ONE HOT BUNDLE and yep, I would only purchase this as a bundle as you can see that the stamp set is fabulous and the sentiments, perfect for many cards that we will make!

Look at the detail….this is an exciting addition and I think that we are all going to get a bunch of use from this one! I invite you to look at the sample they have below. Notice the button….doesn’t that look amazing with that linen thread? I do not know about you….but I have a ca-zillion buttons and I plan to use them like you see below!

I need to back up to when I was in school….Biology and I dd not hit it off when we had to dissect things…..but today, we are doing some surgery on the fireflies! The below picture will show you the fire flies that I created for this simple card!

I did use my paper snips which worked like a dream but then as I was doing more of them I thought… what about my craft cutter. That would super as well but if you do use this – PLEASE BE CAREFUL or just stick to the paper snips! (ALSO, no stressing here….just go for it – remember YOU are the only one that knew that they were together….

I admit that I find this craft knife very handy but it is SUPER SHARP….here is the one that I like because of the “soft grip” handle.Hang on in ordering it as tomorrow is TIPS for your Tuesday and I have another Amazon product that you will love! (just saying) 🙂 I am such an enabler!

You can see that the Sahara Sand was lifted off of the Very Vanilla base – THAT IS IT!!!! Sooooo simple. I did add a piece of craft foam behind the piece and I love the feel in your hand and also it goes through the mail perfectly!

Green Glue was my friend for the adding of the fireflies….but I will admit, once I started making many of these I switched to Stick It as WOW….no waiting time and no potential mess!

Here is your picture for the future…..hover over it and you can Pin away! I was scratching my head for the envelope fun and then Plan B – an Embossing Folder – works great!

One clean and simple, yet beautiful card! This is a stamp set that will be on Randall Lane forever as I adore the font!

Let’s all have a great week! I hope to see you back here tomorrow because I have a TIP for you that I think that you are going to love. HEADS UP to all that adore embellishments…..this one is FOR YOU and it makes me smile everyday I look at it!

It is still bitter cold on the East Coast so please be careful and stay safe! To me, it’s a great time to stay in and craft! See you in the morning….get ready to shop at Amazon ~ you will love it!

Can you say…EASY!!!

You know that I am a HUGE fan of BIG Sentiments….and this stamp set is one that will not leave me disappointed! I knew that when I first saw it…it would have a home on Randall Lane! Just look at all of the fun projects you could use this amazing set with. The fonts are so versatile and “just goes with a bunch”

Here is a picture from the catalog that made me giddy about this set when I was flippin’ through the catalog! You can see that I am going towards the sample on the right but I am making it a “Susan Simple Way” because I needed a card in a jif but you bet that I will do a future post CASING that one!

Do you remember when a bunch of you were saying that you wanted ideas with a masculine flare…well – HELLO…the one in the middle would be a fabulous card for a guy – that too I will do as a post because I already have a plan in my little brain! 🙂

One this that is deceiving when you do a layout that stretches across the card like I am doing today is….I seem to always underestimate how much my length should be so I realize that this is a bit in the “excess” but I didn’t want to have to redo it as again, I needed a Birthday card in a jif!

I will give you the dimensions down below but just know that it is WAY BETTER to overdue it….than to come up short. Just look at this beauty…an instant smile happens when you see that beautiful font!

After I stamped it with the Black Archival Ink, I quickly added clear embossing powder over the sentiment and heat set it with the heat tool ~ as always….a WOW happened and again I smiled! (It happens each and every time you do this)

I tried to take this picture on an angle so you could get a great feel of the luscious sheen and texture that the clear embossing powder gave to the sentiment. It is like MAGIC each and every time.

Let’s chat real quick about the Black Ink. If you have been around Stampin’ for a while you know that there have been many different Black Inks that have been introduced. This is the only Black Ink that I use now as it does everything. It always produces a clean and crisp image and even if I am using the aqua painter or Blendabilities (remember, the alcohol based marker that we had) – it works like a charm.

I will give you a heads up that I would definitely have a re-inker on hand. I do find that I need to re ink it often but then again, it might be because I use it all the time. This is a must have ink as it does the job for all methods of stamping and techniques! 🙂

Just look at this quick and easy beauty! I say a blue ribbon winner as it literally take minutes to do!

For the quick coloring…I used the watercolor pencils….scribbled a little color down and used the blender pens to make the magic happen – HOW EASY IS THAT and remember, I will send you a set of blender pens (3 are in a pack) for an order of $75+ this month (check the tab  – Paw Prints Rewards) 🙂

Something I rarely do but I knew that my friend would love a little bling, I added 3 sequins to add to the fun card! I will say, I am a rather “plain Jane” when it comes to fru-fru…..but this is “just enough” to make a statement!

Before we get to the dimensions for today’s card…let’s gander at this paper! I will say that the picture just does not do this justice one bit – this is a FABULOUS set of paper and you will be seeing me use it a bunch! It is called the Succulent Garden DSP collection and it is just fun and fresh!

With being a BUSY CUTTER in making swatch books for the Product Share….I have really gotten to know the new papers and this one is one that is just a beauty! I think when you see it in the picture below your eye goes right to the Calypso Coral which is rather bold but trust me…this just blends beautifully with many projects – I really need to see it in person to appreciate it!

Now here is what you all love….the dimensions! 😀 I know that many times I forget to share them with you….so if that happens – please leave me a comment or email me! It is ALWAYS my desire to help you create cards and to HAVE FUN…and not stress by trying to figure things out!

I am sure that many of you use these as a start point to help you do your own thing and that is GREAT… guess what  – I do the same thing! That is why I signed up to be a SUD as I followed Mary Fish’s blog and found myself CASEING many of her cards and then I thought, this is silly – I can get the products at a discount and the rest is history (I will say that it was NOT in my plan to be around almost 5 years later….but I am glad that I did)

  • The card base is an A-2 size, 5 1/2″ X 4 1/2″
  • The Sweet Sugarplum is 5 1/4″ X 4″
  • The white piece is 2 3/4″ X 8 1/2″ (remember…this was way tooooooo long but I am sharing what I did)
  • The thin strips of Mint Macaron are just 1/8″ strip. (You could mat it with a larger piece but using the trimmer I just used a sliver and then green glue to the rescue!)
  • I stamped the sentiment in the Black Archival Ink and then sprinkled the clear embossing powder over and heat set it.
  • Watercolor Pencils and the Blender Pens were the magic for to little POP of color!

There you go…a super quick card and also a card that you could MASS PRODUCE to have on hand…and then color and coordinate DSP’s with is as needed.

I was thinking that it would be a great idea to have some “old faithfuls” like this and make many….and then build your stash up….I would do 3 different Birthday cards….some thinking of you etc….and then you will always have a great stash!

Speaking of great, we know that Sale-a-bration is a great time of the year but what is not better than the deal below! This IS the time of the year that hobbyist love to join as they see the deal that it is – $99 will get you $125 with of products and then on top – you can pick (2) stamps of your choice (what would you pick????)….WOW….and if this is all that you want to do – great with me!

Why wait, there is no obligation to sell, to blog…to do anything but to have FUN for yourself and to get Stampin’ Up! Products at a 20% discount each and everyday! Click here to get started…you’ll be happy!

Enjoy the day…..it is super cold but we have a dusting of snow and it is beautiful to look out and see….let’s just hope that this does not stop the Brown Man (my wonderful UPS Truck) from making its way to Randall Lane as I want to get those PRODUCT SHARES out the door to YOU!!!!

Remember, today is the LAST DAY for you to get in the 1st wave of the shares….if not – you will have to wait until the end of the month as I need to focus on my Classes in the Mail….please email me today if you want a share ~ they really are the best way to get a feel of the “new kids on the block” without breaking your “Daisy Bank” 😀

Up..Up & Away with Sale~A~Bration!

Hello and whew…..I am glad that we are on track and the excitement of the new catalog and the sweetest time of the year ~ Sale-a-Bration is here and in full swing! Thank you for your patience. As we all know technology is great but technology can be frustrating,

This new catalog is chocked full of goodies and remember, for every increment order of $50.00…you can pick a FREEBIE from the Sale-a-Bration Catalog. (Remember, you can always click on the hyperlinks but also find the catalogs on my header under Catalogs)

When you go to my online store, I love the way that Stampin’ Up! has the new goodies grouped together. I think that it makes it a bunch easier to navigate. I like to be able to see the bundles together, the stamps together etc….

Today’s featured stamp is available as a bundle and it is a beauty! The details are amazing and I invite you to think of all of the different sentiments that you could use to change it up from the already great sentiments that are in the stamp set.

The fun sentiment is from the Sending Thoughts Stamp Set. WOOT-WOOT to Stampin’ Up! for making another super-de-duper sentiment stamp set. This one needs to be in all of our homes. It really fits the bill for many cards that we make and the fonts…super unique!

I will share with you the measurements of this super clean and classic card but before I do that I want to highlight how easy it is to adhere this balloon. You can make this balloon super intrigue or keep it ZOOM like I did (I like it that way, that TIME thing gets us) 🙂

My secret weapon was Stick It – remember I have blogged about this many times – If I did not have stick it I would take the green glue and dab it in as many spaces as you could, let it “set up” a bit and then adhere it down.

The beauty of the Stick It is that the adhesive is already on and it seals super tight, a great adhesive for diecuts like this! If I were you and in doing what we do, this product will be a lifesaver/timesaver for you and a little goes a long way as you cut it to the size that you need!

You could see how it peels right off to expose the adhesive and look how thin the release paper is – that is because the adhesive itself is super time – I just love it.

I adhered it to a piece of white (I know, kind of boring but heck, it works) and then simply took my paper snips and trimmed the excess off. The below picture will show you how I achieved the “lift” for my balloon.

I want to share why there are times that I like fun foam over stampin’ dimensionals. There are times that I feel a more “solid” 3-d coverage works better.(hopefully this makes sense) – Sometimes an object might “sag in areas” if we do not have enough dimensionals and this is why I like the ease and versatility of cutting up fun foam. (we all do not like sags…..do we? 😆 )

Wondering where the paper came from? EASY – it is a FREEBIE from the Sale-a-bration…..the colors are AMAZING and the patterns are so unique and fun! I sure did pick a boring one for today’s card, buy heck – I am trying to whip up a masculine card and this did the job!

Just think of how you could put many, many different sentiments on this card or heck, just leave it plain….thta beauty of the balloon speaks for itself!

Here are the measurement for this card. This is a layout that I adore to use when the lightbulb is not on in my creative head. I would jot this down as I know that you will use it often and trust me, no one will realize that you are using the same formula when you create with different papers/dies etc…..

  • The Card Base is an A-2 in Basic Gray – 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″ (I rarely use this color but WOW – I love the richness)
  • The Night of Navy and the DSP are both 3 1/2″ X 4 3/4″ and then turned to an angle. (after I adhered them down, I took my old faithful white gel pen to add dots…darn, I love my dots!)
  • The balloon was cut out with a scrap and using the Stick It product, layered over white and trimmed before lifting it up!
  • The sentiment was simply stamped on a scrap and then trimmed to fit!

Easy…right? I hope that this posts inspires you to see that “easy is ok” and there is nothing wrong with it AT ALL. I actually had something different planned for today but you will see that later as I thought that this KEEPER bundle….was “fitting” for all of the hiccups of yesterday!

You can hover over the below picture and pin it to Pinterest so you can reference it for the future. This post is a great example of having 2 classic products, the bundle and the sentiment set….will produce many, many fun and unique card but the BEST THING? – You woul be able to earn a FREEBIE from Sale ~A~ Bration!

I also need to share that we had a winner for the Watercoloring Pencils…..Woot-Woot to Dominique as she was the 1st person to order and I know that she will LOVE them….they are a fantastic addition to our coloring line and I am proud of myself in trying to finally use the blender pens….(I know, I know~  many of you have said. “Susan…why don’t you use them” – well I am trying and so far I like them!!! 🙂

Happy New Year and BLOG CANDY!!!!

Happy New Year to each and everyone of you….you families….your animals….your stamps…and I wish you all of the best for this new year!

Yesterday was a great day for us….and I will say as I read thru many of your comments I was AMAZED at how many Pizza People were out there…..so guess what?……

WE HAD PIZZA AND IT WAS YUMMY 🙂

Do you set a News Years Resolution? I know that many do and that also many just do not….whatever works for you is great! One resolution that we are making is to be more “mindful” with our diet (wow, that was a subtle way of saying it) so that is why we went all out…without one bit of guilt and ate a TON of Pizza!!!!

Let’s get to the WINNER…..I waited until 10:10 p.m. and then my eyes were about to drop so I then I went to Random.org to pick the winner!!!

O.k. – How about if WE ALL GET UP and do a dance….come on….it is January 1st and there are lots of resolutions out there…..GET UP and make a circle….shake your hands and say WOOT-WOOT to…...Sylvia!   Please email me with your address……

(TRUST ME – do this and your family and animals will think you have LOST IT)

Here is her comment!

Here is today’s funny. I have a Pig. Her name is Daisy Mae and I love her. My family does not. My family is not nice to her. (well, they are not mean but they would rather we did not have her)

I have ALWAYS wanted a pig….WHY????I am not sure but I have wanted one. Almost 5 years ago, Daisy became an Itell. She was part of a divorce settlement (really…you cannot make this stuff up). She was still a baby – probably 9 months old and very small….and I went to this house in Virginia and met a women and was explained the situation (good thing I did not need to go to court) but all I could say was, I would try to see if it worked out. (making sure the dogs loved her as much as I did)

I brought her home (John did not know but a girl has to do what a girl needs to do) and in the end – he was fine as he knew that I always wanted one. At this time we had 5 dogs and I didn’t plan it to well in the introduction as it was a total 3 ring circus. I can specifically remember this day because I was by myself with the truck and trailer and I came home and Daisy was just sitting in the front seat of my truck (now that is a hoot to drive past someone and have them take a double take)

I left her in the truck, brought all 5 dogs into our family room….shut the doors – ran out to get Daisy and I just DID IT – plopped her down on the rug and it was priceless – I truly wish that I had a video of that because it was a circus! The dogs were actually a bit scared of her and would go and smell her…..she would make a noise and they would pop back and look at me like “what the heck is that”

Pigs get a really bum wrap….they are not dirty. The are super smart. They are super easy to train. They can be house-broken faster than a dog. They LOVE & NEED routine. They loved to be loved, and I love Daisy!

As I have said, the peeps are not a Daisy fan. Hannah is in total disbelief that she has a crush with Oscar. Each and every day Oscar and Daisy have a little love/hate moment with each other….below you will see a video that I snapped one morning when cleaning Oscar’s stall. I sent to to Hannah and she agreed – Daisy does like Oscar….A LOT – look at how her hair stands up…..she just loves her big brother!

(Video Pending)

I love Oscar and I love Daisy….she really is a “good girl” and she love me! I often get asked…“What does she eat?” – Easy – Pig food…..she eats a 1/4 cup of Mini Pig Food a day but she has a super soft spot for Strawberries and Blueberries!

I wish that you could see the expression on peoples face when they come to the house and see that we have a “house pig” – One day we had a furnace guy here and said, “HEY LADY….do you know there is a pig in your house” – I looked at him like – REALLY.….!!!! 😕

Never a dull moment and I like it like that!

In ringing in the NEW YEAR – let’s have MORE blog candy…..how about the things that YOU REALLY LOVE AND USE!!!!

  • a Pack of Very Vanilla Envelopes
  • a Pack of Whisper White Envelopes
  • A Pack of Note Cards & Envelopes

Just leave a comment on what type of card/cards that you would like to see more of….I know that we all have cards that we have struggle with in making! I admit, we all get in a rut and there are cards that we just simply have a tough time with….

I promise, I will try my best to help you! Happy New Year…you ALL are the best and Stampin’ hugs and blessings to all!

p.s. – Please look under the tab of my header and click on Product Share to see if you want a share. The cut off for the 1st share is Friday the 6th. I will be offering another share the 3rd week of January. If I were you, I would hop on that 1st Train 🙂 ….

The LAST day of the YEAR – BLOG CANDY!

Hello to my FAVORITE Cyber friends….here is to another year that has just  Z O O M E D by….I know that this still is a super busy time of the year and it will all slow down before we know it so until then…let’s continue to have some good old fashion Simple Stampin’ fun.

I just love to hear from you and I must say….we sure do have a great family here, many thanks for popping in!! To win the BLOG CANDY that I will be giving away all you have to do is leave a comment…how easy is that? Just leave a comment about what you are doing to ring in the New Year and one lucky person will win! 🙂 What will they win??? You’ll find out after a story!

I have a funny for you….when we had company over during the Holidays….one of my friends said ~ ” I sure do hope that Santa brings a teeth cleaning for Jack and Charlie because their breathe would knock you over” ….my response – What do you expect when they eat Horse Poop just about daily?

I love my Jack Russells….sometimes I call them “Rotten Russells” as that is what they are – spoiled rotten but they make my heart pitter patter. Well….yesterday I took them to the vets for a consultation before they could go get their teeth clean. It was a 3 ring circus.

Our dogs LOVE the truck and when they are invited to go in the truck they get super excited. They know that they are either going to the dump (fun job) or they are going to a Horse Show (they really love that) but when it is in my car….they know…..THE VETS!!! To start with I could not catch them…they knew. Finally after getting them in my car I went back into the house to get my wallet and when I came back out they locked the doors.

I just stood there and laughed as all I could think of was…WHY ME???? John was meeting me at the Vets because we were going to switch cars and my cell phone was locked in the car…I could hear the music of my ring tone and could see that it was John calling….so back into the house I went to search for a spare key. We have (2) Volkswagens and wouldn’t you know….I could not find mine.

I called Hannah and she picked up whispering….What’s up Mom….I’m at work – is this an emergency? YEP…to me it was. She talked me through where to look and I found the spare that she thought was for her Volkswagen. Whew…..that was settled.

Onward we go and they were miserable…..crying….panting to beat the band and YES – their breathe was terrible! As I got off the highway I had a car stop abruptly and I had to slam on the brakes…….both dogs went air-born to the front with me (and I had some choice words for the guy in front of me) and we continued onward.

We made it into the vets and they were terrible. Living on a farm my guys are not used to being on leashes and their manners are not the best – I think that they feel like they are in a BIG CITY being away from their comfort zone. We made it and YEP, their teeth need a little TLC…next Thursday they will get done.

It cracks me up that you have to take them into the vets to pay for a consultation and then make another appointment to get the job done…we made it but I still cannot believe that they locked me out…..too darn funny.

Below you will see how silly they are….you just can’t make this stuff up!

I hope that you can enjoy this video of all 4 of them playing in our family room – it truly is a circus and when they play – THEY PLAY! The night that we had 17 over for dinner….we had 6 dogs…..(James and his girlfriends dogs also came) but it all worked out – My home is my home…and that means that there are always animals and there are always surprises!

Jack is the Black and White one…and Charlie is the fluffy Brown and White one that rolls over at the end! We picked up these “mis-fit'” brothers at a Horse Show in Ocala one year….all of our dogs are rescues and I think that rescues are the best and are very appreciative of a home. Here is a picture of them 11 years ago with Hannah…..time sure does fly!

I am sorry that I am going down Memory Lane so much….but darn, I LOVE THAT LANE as it is FUN to relive the memories…we were here for 6 weeks (yes, Hannah did go to school) and for 6 weeks these puppies were there and I never saw them until the last day. They were the last 2 out of 10 and no one wanted them….

Naturally I melted….I scooped them up and asked the lady that was trying to find homes for them if I could show them to my daughter to pick one…well I ask you – how do you show a great kid 2 adorable puppies and pick – I can still remember her face…..CAN WE KEEP BOTH?

The rest is history! Jack is THE SWEETEST and could be a Nursing Home Dog….but Charlie – hmmmmmm….his elevator does not go to the top all of the time….but I love my boys!

Well again, sorry for the MEMORY LANE….but this time of the year just “gets to me” as it is a time of the year that I spend lots of time reflecting and also being grateful. I hope that you can let the good, the bad, the fun, the sad…..the WHATEVER into your heart because the reality of it is…WE ALL HAVE STUFF going on!

What are we doing to ring in the New Year.???….Boot Camp at 6:30 a.m. – home to take care  of the animals – out the door to Berkley Springs, WV for massages – an amazing late lunch at a favorite restaurant in this special town – home to take care of the animals – a great home cooked meal prepared together (we both love to cook)….a game of Scrabble (the only day of the year that John agrees to play with me)…..and then a great chat together about the blessed year!

FINALLY — what will you win??????……things that YOU LOVE AND USE! It is all about adhesives as I hope that we will STICK TOGETHER!

  • A Bottle of Green Glue (Mono Glue)
  • Fast Fuse (LOVE it)
  • Tear-n-tape (a life saver many, many times)
  • Mini Glue Dots (the ULTIMATE “hider” for many things to adhere)

Enjoy the day and let’s get some comments going about what you do to ring in the New Year (honestly – we are asleep before the ball drops)….I appreciate you and I wish you a safe and fun day!

Pop back tomorrow as I will have another story with the animals and MORE blog candy……this is such a FUN TIME of the year – let’s kick back and enjoy!
