Happy Weekend….I have a Simple Saturday card for you today but I do hope that you will pop back tomorrow to see the “stepped up” version…side by side – YOU decide! I adore reading your comments and getting feedback – this is how we all learn…each of us have gifts…have “nuggets” of tips and tricks and when we share through our comments…we all learn!

Before we get to the card for today….we have a BLOG CANDY WINNER…WOOT-WOOT to “Karen L” ( see her comment below) and please email me your address so I can get your goodies in the mail! I did enjoy reading your comments – WOW……I WANT TO GO TO A STAMP CAMP….LOVED that comment – wouldn’t it be a HOOT of a weekend if we could all be together.

When I was a Creative Memories Consultant, I held along with others a FANTASTIC WEEKEND retreat…it was filled with FUN, LAUGHTER, INSPIRATION and ENDLESS MEMORIES! I admit, it was a TON of WORK but days after the weekend…I was always ready to do it again!

Thanks for all of the great comments….

Now I must say, this is my kind of card…right up my alley and I am eager for you to see tomorrows to get your feedback ( I DO TREASURE your ideas and comments) – but I will say, this weekend post will definitely be in the running for one of my cards (I like to make up several different cards as I admit, I have a hard time deciding on just one)

Clean, Classic, FUN & DONE! Here is a great glimpse of the Regal DSP Paper Stack (Garden Green) – I LOVE these stacks and that is exactly why I always offer them with my product shares…so many of you have not had the opportunity to try them or many of you have overlooked them in the catalog, trust me…..I think I went almost 2 years before I discovered them!  Remember my motto…

“When in doubt, pull the DSP Paper Stacks OUT!”

Here are the products used for this beauty! Pop back tomorrow to see the stepped up version but better than that for many of you…the dimensions and all of the tips and trick I did to make this clean and simple card! I can’t wait to hear how you like this card…I think it is a great way to KICK START Holiday Cards as I have really not shared a bunch yet (Truth be told, I found it hard to get int he mood for the Holidays when it is 95 degrees!) 😀

Again, many thanks for all of the comments yesterday – it was great fun to read through them. I will say, at least I found that I had other friends on the Island of not being a fan of that Paper Pumpkin Kit last month…..BUT….

I hope it showed you that there are ways to take something we have….change it to make it work for you! I think that the thing I liked the least about the kit was the paper, I am a traditional paper-crafter and it was just not my favorite but I loved the sentiments and  floral stamps!

See you in the morning….I am excited for your feedback!

More Paper Pumpkin and BLOG CANDY!!!!

Happy Friday! I have many confessions today….so let me start by getting them off of my chest!

(no worries, we are having BLOG CANDY so hang in there)

  • I am glad it’s Friday…..it has been a challenging week and I just am happy that it is the end of the week! (whew…got that off my chest)
  • I did not like this Paper Pumpkin Kit this month when I first saw it (double whew…but then I figured out how to make it work for me)
  • I am sad as we have have to have several HUGE trees removed from our property because of a disease that has affected Ash trees in our state (it always makes me sad to see trees get damaged or have to be removed) and these were HUGE!
  • I need your prayers, one of my dear friends son is having an open heart surgery on Monday that is very life threatening and the Mom is also going through her own battle with Breast Cancer, he is just 16 years old and they cutest, most polite young man you would ever meet….please keep this special family in your thoughts!

I thought that this was a FABULOUS quote that I think all of us could relate to….so I hope it touches your heart!

every day quote of inspiration

Let’s get to the GREAT STUFF, yesterday….many of you liked….really liked the card that I did. I too was happy with it because I am being honest, when this kit arrived...I was not jumping for joy! When I see that box in my mailbox ~ I am OVER THE MOON excited to rip into it…to see the stamp set, to see the color of ink spot…to see the papers and embellishments….and for some reason, it just didn’t hit me!

Below is the stamp set,I ADORE the “for you” stamp but when I saw that this video suggested to stamp the floral one over the DSP – that is what threw me over the edge. I guess that I am just that clean and simple stamper that likes the classics!

Below you can see the video of all of the products that are included and the the suggest ideas on how to put it together! (Guess you can tell that I was a bit of a rebel and did my own thing) This is a quick video and then below you will see how I made the products and stamps work for me!

To me, this is just a sweet clean and simple card and I love using multiple strands of Bakers Twine to adhere a bit of fru-fru. I like to use glue dots to hold then in place, same with the wooden elements. Maybe I am crazy and maybe it is an artistic think…but I do not “get” the look of stamping the flowers on top of this paper~ (Am I on an Island by myself)

Next one…I did a combo on this one! The little “pocket” is perfect for a gift card…but I thought why not put a piece of paper and stamp on it multiple times  and make it interactive with a “pull” with some bakers twine! I liked the layers and the colors of this and the “pull” makes it fun and I am sure that it will bring a smile!

Now to the BLOG CANDY…..YIPPPEE !

I like it when we get some interactive chats going one so leave me a comment about the following question and randomly I ill pick a winner (using random.org) and someone will win all 3 of these cards!

When do you start making Holiday Cards?

If you do…how many are on your list?

I can’t wait to read the comments! Thanks for popping in and good luck!

p.s. – because so many of you liked the card yesterday, I will also stamp (3) cards with that stamp in the corners so you can play and color them in….so that means someone will win 6 cards! That deserves a HUGE WOOT-WOOT!

p.p.s- I hope that there is something “good” in your day! Thanks for always making me smile!

Happy Thursday to all and you know what Thursdays are for me….it a PPA Day and this week we have a fabulous color challenge that my sweet and super talented friend, Michelle Gleeson came up with ! These 3 colors together are fantastic – (just like her) I wanted to make a card that “looked like her style” and this gem is on the way to her!

Check out these colors and then please make sure that you go to the Pals Paper Art Site and see what all of the other designers came up with. There are some BEAUTIES….I just think that it is so fun to see all of the different ideas that come from the same color palette!

Here is the image of the Stamp Set this month! Honestly, when I first saw the stamp that I used for this card…..I did not like it…actually not one bit but then I was determined to try it and guess what?

Not only do I like it…..I LOVE IT!!!

Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin August 2016

I just love these colors together…so beautiful, so classic…just like Michelle and I know that she will love this card! The envelope punch board was the smile maker and the perfect finishing touch to this 4 1/4″ square card! Don’t you love the Dapper Denim DSP? This is from the paper stacks and remember, these are offered in my product share (share #3) and they are always a hit…..I know that if you were to purchase these a la carte – your piggy bank would be sad!

I know that we all have mixed thoughts and feelings about the Paper Pumpkin Program, I was determined to make it work for me this month!

See you tomorrow…..but in the meantime….how do you like this card – I would love to hear your thoughts with a comment. Water-coloring is fun and the Aqua Painter makes is easy to feel like Picasso….we all are Picasso’s!

“Wing It” Wednesday!

Stampin' Up! Better Together Stamp, Playful Palette Washi Tape, Playful Palette DSP,Stamp-a-ma-jig,Stampin' Up! Clean and Simple Card, Susan Itell - simplestampin

Hello all and HAPPY HUMP DAY! I was in the mood to just do something different so I decided that today would be a “WING IT WEDNESDAY”, being that I just looked at what I first saw and said – CREATE SOMETHING!

Well….there is was, my Washi Tape…the Washi Tape was the victim for the day! I then thought, this is PERFECT as so many of you buy it but then I hear you do not use it…well, we need to do something that. I can remember when Stampin’ Up! first came out with it I thought….”What the heck is this stuff”, I truly thought that it was a fad but it is still around and going strong!

Today’s card is like a “little black dress” – it would work for just about any occasions, all you would need to do is to dress it UP…or dress it DOWN and leave it super simple. Just think of all of the sentiments that are out there!

Because this stamp set, Better Together is NOT a photopolymer, I did use the stamp-a-ma-jig for ease of sentiment placement….remember, this piece of plastic IS your friend….do not toss it across the room!!!! Keep working with it!!! Check out this stamp set it you do not already have it…it is what I call a KEEPER! Love the variety of fonts!

Better Together Stamp Set, Stampin' Up!

Let’s get right to this simple card..a triple stamp of the sentiment with a simple mat…and accent rectangle behind – BAM….the STAGE HAS BEEN SET IN A JIF! Now I ask you, could YOU do this!?!?! In the next 2 pictures you will see how I built the platform for the stage…now get ready…it is really, really hard – pull out a piece of scraps, 4″ X 5 1/4″ and put tape down ~ THAT IS IT!

I know that some people like to cut off the Washi Tape, I like to just roll it to the back and stick it. I would recommend using a super strong adhesive like the Fast Fuse or Tear and Tape as that seems to hold well against the washi tape if you are matting it to a base.

It truly does not get any simpler than this and still even though it is simple, there is a WOW to it. I invite you to think if ANY card you create to be a WOW because it came from YOU…that in itself is super special and I think that many times we forget about giving ourself credit for making our own works of art!

Here is your 411 – Directory Assistance photo for you to hover over and pin away! I know that this DSP has a very modern feel to it but the think I really like about it is that it pairs with Very Vanilla. I am thrilled that Stampin’ Up! has many DSP’s that work with Very Vanilla!

Tuesday Tips ~ Storing your Bakers Twine!

Simple Stampin' Tips and Tricks for storing Bakers Twine and Ribbon

Here you go my organizing friends. Here is another topic that sometimes stresses us out. For me, 2 things that stress me out about Bakers Twine are:

  • The creases  in the bakers twine because of how it is packaged.
  • Pulling out a bunch and having it tangle.

I have several of these containers and they are PERFECT for my needs. I always keep the rolls from ribbon to use for other uses like this and also my son Will loves them for his classroom! (o.k. – he likes the rolls from the ribbon but doesn’t want to craft with dear old Mom)

Here is a link of the container from Amazon, I do know that you can find it at Bed, Bath & Beyond (don’t forget your coupon) but for some reason I am not finding it on the site….this is the best that I can do for you but remember the dimensions are 12″ X 4″ X 3″. What I like to do is take the spools with you when you go so you can make sure that it works for your needs!

Simple Stampin' ideas on how to store Bakers Twine

These have been game changers for me. I have several of them in drawers that I can simply pull out and see exactly what I need! I have on a wall a ribbon organizer that really is more of a pain than what it is worth. It is a great visual but I find it not to be super user friendly. I use that for discontinued ribbon, we all love our ribbon and we use it up until the roll is gone!

Ok…ok….here is the TYPE A in me, I use the handy label maker to mark my Bakers Twine…WHY?????? Easy = Items come and go so often and I adore Bakers Twine and honestly, I really do not shy away from using it – here is a link from Amazon, (by far the best price)

Remember, this label maker comes in all different widths and colors of tape – have fun!

SImple Stampin' Tuesday Tips and Tricks, How to store Bakers Twine

I hope that this post has helped you and has also “rang a bell” in case you are like me….not liking the creases in the Bakers Twine! Have a fabulous day and until tomorrow……go and make someone smile!
