Step it up Sunday!

IMG_0327

Good Morning and here is a different take on yesterday's card! They both work… it comes down to time! Classic, clean and simple they are…but today's just take a bit more time with the addition of another layer of paper….(Tip Tip Taupe) and some quick stamping in the background!

You can click here to see yesterdays post and then look at them side by side and then you decide! Personally, I do not think that you would go wrong with either one.

IMG_0336

One thing that I did not touch on so much yesterday was the precision plate. It is in the new catalog and my guess is that it will be carried over as it is a super addition to the Big Shot! It is meant to make it easier to get "more detailed" dies out.

It does that but please do not think that they fall out…BUT the thing that I love is that the cut is very, very clean, none of those "straggly" pieces that hang off and I simply use the paper piercing tool to do a quick "poke" – I love it and YES, I do think that it is worth the purchase!

IMG_0329

You can see that I am using the Tip Top Taupe new In Color, something that I must admit that I have not used a tin but I do think that it is a great neutral that works with many color palettes! It works great with the Vanilla and I also used a small snowflake stamp to give a tone on tone effect!

The other switch was the colors of the background of the ornament…again, they both look great and I think it is totally a personal preference as to what you like….but you can easily see that this card can be made with a multitude of different color combinations!

Did you notice that I added a girls best friend = pearls!

IMG_0330

The one thing that is a must (in my opinion) is the vanilla coaster board – this adds that extra special touch that make people look at it and say…..how did she do that! It is all about the "staples" that we have (besides the stamps, paper and ink) that make the whole journey work! (I call them secret weapons)

I chose to do the same thing for the envelope today as I think that it is super clean and classic. One think that I do suggest when you use a super dark paper like this is to use the entire framelit. Usually I do a "short change" and cut my paper to 3" X 6" and then use the envelope framelit.

I think when you are using card stock and also when it is super dark like this one….it is important to line the entire envelope so you do not see a "line/seam" where the "cut off" piece is. Again, just my thoughts but I think it does make a difference .

Simple Saturday…really SIMPLE!

IMG_0313

As my wonderful Mom used to tell me, "You just cannot beat the classics" and this is a great example of a classic card that would have been super special 10 years ago, today and in 10 years!

Today this is a "stripped down version" (and I really like it a bunch) but I do hope that you pop back tomorrow and see how I have "stepped it up a bit" – it feels great to be back to our weekend posts of Simple Saturday and Step it up Sunday!

IMG_0322

It is hard to get a good picture of this card but I do hope that you can see the simplistic beauty of being so darn simple! You can see the items that I used in todays card and I know what you are thinking….WOWZERS, these framelits are pricey!  – Trust me – I get it but I will say that the beauty of these framelits and the attention to detail is over the top!

IMG_0317

I totally forgot to put in the famous "scrolling store" the vanilla coaster board – this is a product that I use almost always when using sentiment framelits – I just LOVE it as it give the classic life that is needed!

One question I get asked all the time – is it easy to use? – YES

Does it work well with the Big Shot? – YESVanilla Coaster Board by Stampin' Up!

This card just simply does not get any easier than this…..a great Neutral – Very Vanilla….a classic accent color – Night of Navy = a great card!

IMG_0312

Did you notice the gold twine? This is the best, very affordable and give an instant WOW! The last picture, the beloved envelope! I used just the Night of Navy to line …simple but it works!

Please pop back tomorrow to see what is up my sleeve!

You can see that I used the Vintage Leaves Bundle and YES – I would purchase this as a bundle as it also coordinates with the another stamp set, Lighthearted Leaves Photopolymer Stamp – this is another keeper!

I used the Lots Of Labels Framelits Dies in Cajun Craze and Very Vanilla to make background for the fun sentiment. This is from the Thankful Forest Friends Clear-Mount Stamp Set….this is a great sentiment and perfect for fall and Thanksgiving!

I have a confession, I broke down and bought the stapler and guess what – it is great! WHY? it slides WAY back which makes it great for many projects but the staples are soooo teeny-tiny – super cute!

IMG_0270

I hope that this brought a smile to your face as much as it did mine! Remember…it's that little extra touch that makes the smiles bigger….and trust me, who ever receives it will be super thrilled!

Break it down into steps…to make the process easier. You will be amazed at how fast they go and the best part – it is a super easy project!

Tips….FYI

Good Morning! I have had several people ask me my feelings about the Fast Fuse Adhesive and I thought that I would take a post to share with you my thoughts….especially since it is on the weekly deals this week!

Here are the weekly deals that Stampin' Up! is offering this week and remember, these items are revealed on Tuesday mornings and they go thru Monday night!

O.k. – there are lots of great picks this week but I want to focus on the Fast Fuse Refill. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to stock up on refills as there are 25% off just until Monday night and we all know…you can never have enough extra refills!

I have a confession, when this adhesive 1st came out….I did not like it at all. I learned that the reason that it did not work for me was simple – I was not using it correctly. Watch this short video on this product.

I highly recommend that you purchase this adhesive. I have learned to LOVE it after having a love/hate relationship with it. It is SUPER strong and it is a great and easy way to put layers together, make boxes etc….

I thought that there was a typo in the catalog as the refill is just shy of 22 yards….(the refills of the snail are just 13 yards) so this is one reason why it seems to be more expensive. When you think of this….it really is a great bang for your buck, especially since it is 25% off!

As the commercial went…."Try it…you might like it" – you have nothing to lose as Stampin' Up! guarantees all of their products so if you are not happy, no worries….

Have you tried it????

The best tip I can give you is when you pull the adhesive back towards you…..go left….(make a check mark)….then the next time you use it…..go right (make a check) – this way the adhesive will snap away….it is SUPER sticky so nothing will be going anywhere!

Until tomorrow!

Thanks for all of your comments but now we need to get down to business….this super sweet 4 1/2" square card! You know me, it's hip to be square!

IMG_0242

When the Holiday Catalog came out, I instantly loved this stamp set as it is super basic. It is called Cheer All Year and it coordinates with the Season To Season Wreath Project Kit (I have not blogged about this yet, but I do have it to make for my Mother in Law) so naturally I will share it with you.

Why do I like this stamp set? Easy ~ it is super basic and super classic. It is great for cards, packaging/treats…a set that will be timeless for years to come!

139839G

The card size is a 4 1/2" card and then the smaller very vanilla is 4 1/4". Many times I pop up the layered piece with dimensionals but today I did not as I wanted the POP of the acorn get the "center stage" (I actually doubled up on the dimensionals)

The other thing that I wanted to showcase to you is the power of a bold DSP to make a statement. I know that many of you are scared of using a DSP but please give it try. (I have a confession, I have an AMAZING card to show you one day that was sent to me and it totally showcases DSP – you will LOVE IT)

IMG_0253

The DSP is from the GORGEOUS Farmers Market Collection and I simply cut that to a 4 1/4" square and then using the stampin' trimmer (you do have it…right???) put the points to points in the track to cut it in half and then you will use 1/2 of it on the card, the other 1/2 on the back of the envelope,

The leaves were fussy cut and that was SUPER easy as the lines are so clean and easy, same for the acorn. I used the color of Early Espresso for the NUT and then the TOP is with Soft Suede.I used glue dots for the leaves and then used crushed curry bakers twine to make a simple bow, adhered with a glue dot!

IMG_0252I was determined to use something that I have not used in a while, candy dots! These are little gems that I suggest that you have in all color palettes, "just in case" – they are sooooooo affordable ($6.00) and give a BIG Punch for such a little thing!

Because the dots were not even, type "A" kicked in for me – …I used a sliver of soft suede to distract your eye – it works….try it – no need to stress!

IMG_0254

FUN…SIMPLE…DONE – that's my motto and I stick by it! Thanks for popping in…thanks for you comments…thanks for being YOU! Pleas feel free to email me if you have any questions~
