It's the weekend and it is the holiday weekend! I hope that if you are traveling, that you have fun…make lots of memories but please be safe! You all really do not need me on this card as it is SUPER-DE-DUPER simple but I think it carries a HUGE PUNCH……what do you think!
I am all about being clean and simple and this is a "Susan Card" – it makes me smile, it was easy, it is affordable, it is classic! I would be proud to send this card out and just think of all of the different colors you could use! Today, I chose Night of Navy as I adore a classic Navy and White!
Before we get to the card….I need to say a very heartfelt thanks to so many that have left a comment, sent me emails etc….about my dear sweet Eddie…..I was so happy that he ate last night and seems happy. He had gone for many days without eating and I think that he was super weak from that and then his "Ball Game" with his brothers was too much for him….but please know he is happy.
Our Vet did not think that he would have been with us last Thanksgiving and John and I were hoping and praying that he would hang on until the kids came home. Well….he did and as a family we decided that we would not put him through a surgery and chemotherapy…..he not only hates going to the Vets, he actually does not like leaving our farm (except going in the truck to the dump)….so Eddie will be here and be happy until I can see it in his eyes that it is time!
O.k. – sorry for rambling on but you all know by now my animals are a very important part of my life and I deeply thank you for your concerns and Eddie feels super special that he has so many that are thinking of him!
This is a super straight forward card and we need to talk about "bundles" – Bundles are groupings of (2) products that Stampin' Up! puts together for you to purchase as one unit and you will get an instant 15% off.
In the "scrolling store" below, I am only sharing with you these as a bundle as I feel so strongly that the IS the best way to purchase this! You can purchase them separately and there are times that I honestly have not taken advantage of a bundle….but this on – a total keeper!
Today's clean and simple card is a vertical A-2 card in the THICK Whisper White Card-stock. If you have not used this yet….hit that shop now and put it in the cart – you will never go back to the regular for your card bases….but I still use the other for many things – stamping sentiments…etc….
The Night of Navy is just 1/4 smaller and I scored it all the way around, (1 notch in) oops – I forgot to put the Simply Scored in the scrolling store! I use this soooo much, I know that the Stampin Trimmer also scores but I think that this is much deeper for the effect that I was going for!
I took the ornament framelit and made a cut and then added a piece of gold paper behind before I adhered it to the base! Oops again, I used the tear & Tape Adhesive to do this! I ADORE this adhesive…a keeper!
The "merry" was cut out twice with the Vanilla Coaster Board and then once in the navy. This is a great way to make a statement and it really does not take too much extra time….well worth it!
I adore each and every sentiment framelit that comes out…to me they are a great anchor for a clean and simple card!
As I said yesterday, we have some amazing paper in the new catalog, and the below picture will help you see that this paper stack is beautiful! I used the "green glue" to adhere the liner to the envelope…just on the gold stripes to conceal it!
Doesn't this make a great card! The vellum just sets it off….adds a classic and crisp look! Triple OOPS, I forgot the envelope liner in the store…..Silly Susan!
Now that is it my friends…..don't you agree that this really is a SIMPLE SATURDAY card that YOU can make? I do hope that you will pop back tomorrow and see how I "stepped it up a bit" – sometimes we like added touches….sometimes we don't!
Have a fun Saturday, have fun if you are away and please have fun….we are "hanging out" here at home doing nothing but everything at the same time! I love not having a schedule and being with John and the animals will be a fabulous weekend!
Eddie thanks you for your kindness and until tomorrow!
You can see that I was already working on this post before "Eddie needed his Momma" so I hope that this can shed some light into what makes me smile with the new catalog!
As of 3 p.m. here is the Eddie update! He seems stronger and I really think that he totally ran too much last night playing "ball" – his favorite past time. (How do you keep a Jack Russell quiet)….here is a funny – John picked him up this morning from my side…took him outside and he laid down and did not get up…then Eddie saw a tennis ball about 15 feet away and he popped up and got the ball….went potty and John brought him back to me with a big smile.
He is drinking and he had some chicken so it truly is a situation that will happen when it happens. We love our animals and are firm believers that when it is time ….it is time as I would not want him to suffer. He seems to be re-bounding so needless to say I have been watching him like a hawk and he is right by my side with a ball and a toy.
This post became way too long and I totally underestimated myself! It was great to see what some of you came up with and the bottom line…..we are basically on the same page! I know that this is long, but I truly want you to see and hear why I like certain products….
This is just one FUN catalog and remember to use the hostess code of YHNMUJNJ and also you can click here to see the fun offerings that can be yours with a $50.00 order and then both for a $75.00+ order! I will mail them to you directly!
Ok….when I sat and looked…really looked at the catalog to narrow it down to 10 things, it was next to impossible. You all know me too well. This catalog is soooooo over the top and it is “Chocked full of Goodies” I ask myself now – what the heck was I thinking – there is no way that I could have picked 10.
Here are my picks – These things are must haves in my opinion as they will make your experience in crafting even more fun and rewarding that it already is! I will say, my poor catalog is so tattered as I flip all over the place….
Embellishments:
Home for Christmas Enamel Dots (page 9)~ LOVE THEM…whats not to love about them. They are a perfect classic yet effective “add on”.
Real Red Pompom Trim (page 9)– Creates an INSTANT FUN…I was doing the Happy Dance with this and again, super for Valentines!
Reindeer Paper Clips: (page 27) This are just BEYOND CUTE! You know when you add one of these to a project or even a note you will make someone smile…isn't it FUN to make someone smile? The red enamel dot for the nose would be super cute!
MUST HAVES:
I can't even put these in a category so I made one up – "MUST HAVES"….so go ahead and order them – you'll be happy!
Archival Stampin’ Pads in Black and Gray (page 19) – If you remember, Stampin’ Up! pulled these colors from the catalog…I was glad that they did so as they just did not give a good stamp…but let me tell you – THESE ARE A MUST HAVE…..(actually so much that you should stop reading and put them on an order)
Here is a great tip….especially for the Black one but if you can do it – I highly suggest that you do this for all of your stamp pads….BUY THE REFILL WHEN YOU BUY THE PAD….why? – I used to think that this was a silly thing but trust me, there is nothing more frustrating than to be working on a project to not get a good clean stamp and you need the refill!
For both of these ink pads, the ink is "archival" which means that it is waterproof making it a great choice for watercoloring etc…it is simply AMAZING how "crisp and clean" the ink is when you stamp. (I feel bad for the Memento as he has been my main man…..I still love him but this is SUPER dark and crisp!)
Precision Base Plate– (page 14) – If you have a Big Shot (and of course you have a Big Shot) than this is a MUST HAVE. It is a plate that makes cutting out more detailed dies a bunch easier! I have not played with it a bunch but when I have there are 2 things that I have noticed.
I do not seem to get the lines as much around the die that you are cutting out and also with the sentiment dies, I am not get the little "bumps" as much….
I am not getting the "fine threads" that sometimes are on your cut out pieces….(hope that this makes sense)
I still find that I need to use the stylus to poke out certain areas but there is NO STRUGGLE….it cuts so much better and you do not need the dryer sheet/wax paper etc….I love it and I know that the more and more I play with it I will say, why didn't we have this before!
Square Pillow Box Thinlits Die: (page 41) – ok…I know – this is an expensive little gem but aren't all gems expensive? I would take advantage and buy this as a bundle as you will see further down that I have this stamp set that is on the same page in my "Sleeper List"
When Stampin' Up! comes out with a product that makes out life easier, I say – GET IT AND BE HAPPY! This is a fabulous new addition and I not only plan to blog about it in depth, I will do a video as it is a great new product!
Fine Tip Glue Pen – (page 43) – This is a staple that you will not want to be without! Stampin' Up! did a fantastic job with the design of the bottle. There is a super thin needle-like "thingie" that goes into the bottle so it will not clog.
It was intended to be the answer to our prayers for small embellishments like sequins….I honestly have not used it a bunch to give you my feedback but I am sure that this is going to the a staple for all of us! (I am looking forward to trying it on our sentiment die-cuts….I'll report back once I give it a try)
Paper:
What can I say but the paper in this catalog is over the top fun. I know that many of you are super happy that there are some vellums and I adore that the paper stack vellum is in the 6" X 6" size! I have listed in the "scrolling store" all of the new packs of paper but if I had to narrow it down to my favorite 3….well 4! – here you go:
Happy Hauntings(page 47) – adorable to the max! Polka Dots….stripes….and those ghosts…say no more – just get it – you'll be happy!
Into The Woods (page 43) – Fall fun at its best! The colors are so fresh and vibrant. I can easily see me using this after fall – the prints are fun for all occasion cards well after Fall.
Home for Christmas– (page 9) – ADORABLE ALERT!!! This is a "throw back from the past" and one that is SUPER HOT! Each piece of paper touches your heart with memories!
Season of Cheer – (page 29) Elegance at its best! The attention to detail is over the top and the colors…very rich yet vibrant – a very classic collection!
Stamps:
Now if you thought it was hard to do the above….this is a SUPER HARD one but lucky for me, I can "cheat abit" as there are some that are stamps and some that are Stamps in bundles….(hee-hee…..this is a way to sneak more in) I am just starting from the front of the catalog and flipping away and just going through the stamp sets!
I will do the Bundles on another post – I think it is FABULOUS that Stampin' Up! is offering so many Bundles ~ this way we save an instant 15%. This new catalog is filled with them and the other thing that is so easy, you can easily click on Holiday Bundles and view them all in one spot.
Oh, What Fun (page 5) – over the top Sentiments…the fonts are great and it will be a set that you will use for years and years! Great investment!
Peaceful Wreath– (page 21) – A true Christmas Classic and this is a SUPER EASY ONE to color…adding color is very on trend and this would be a great one that would pack a big WOW!
This would be stunning with just the simple wreath and then a die cut sentiment…simple – fun….DONE!
Wonderland(page 23) – Confession time…I think that I am the only one in the world that does not have the stamp set, Lovely as a Tree ( I think that this is one of Stampin' Ups! oldest stamp sets in the catalog) but this one reminds me of that but I love the sentiments and the snowflakes!
Versatile Christmas (page 26) – Another great sentiment set that will last for years and years! Totally Classic!
Joyful Season– (page 29) This one reminds me of my Mom as she adored Cardinals. I love the branch on this as well as it can be used with many other cards we make. The icing on the cake – DOTS! I love my DOTS!
Your Presents (page32) – This set you can really use all year long….just change up the color if the presents and PRESTO – an adorable Birthday Card! Using the "kissing" technique is super-de-duper with this set – I will do a blog post one day!
Among the Branches – (page 39) – LOVE the fact that you can use the 2" punch with this set and the little stamps are super "fillers" for cards! This does come as a bundle with the Woodland Textured Embossing Folder – but you can get that FREE from me with an order of $75.00 so no need to order a bundle with the set!
Lighthearted Leaves (page 44) – Hit that SHOP NOW button for this one….beautiful…and oh so versatile! It has framelits in the Annual Catalog that matches it….you all loved it when I blogged about it – one great stamp set!
If the Broom Fits(page 48) – Halloween fun at it's best! I knew that this was going to be on Randall Lane! Adorable all the way around – you can click here to see a post I did with it!
Well..that is a long list of 10 and I haven't even touched on the Pot of Gold – the BUNDLES! I will do that in another post and tomorrow I will be using one of them for my Simple Saturday Post.
I appreciate your understanding and I do hope to hop on tonight and go through my mail. I hope that this post inspired you with some insight….I love what I do and I love helping YOU!
Remember, I do offer a rewards program which will allow you to earn free stamps sets from me of your choice. Paw Prints Rewards
Hi all….I am so sorry to be a huge disappointment to you but I will pop back on later to finish this post.
In a nut shell….it was SUPER HARD for me to pick just 10 and I was working hard on it for you. I did do a video and I am hoping that you will enjoy it!
When I am able, I will pop back on and list the (BIGGER) that 10 for you…to sum it up in a nutshell (ha-ha –yes, I love the acorn punch) – this is a FABULOUS CATALOG…..truly stellar in many ways!
My doctors appt was great and I will fill you in on that but I need to be honest, my dear Eddie is not doing well. He has not been having a good week and even though I have not blogged about that, I need to make him comfortable.
Please keep him in your thoughts….he is my old guy that loves life but we have known that he has been ill. He is so determined and brave – he played ball last night and then came in the house and is not well.
I hope that these pictures of him will bring a smile to you….we took him on the boat on Sunday and he LOVED it…..each day he brings us joy but I am fearful that he is trying to tell us something.
The BOOT is officially off and I have a new friend……I am calling her "baby boot"
Thanks for understanding and until later……
UPDATE: – I just logged in quick to let you know that Eddie slept by my side all night and is very peaceful. I will call the vet this morning and talk with her.
Those Jack Russell's – they have a HUGE heart and are so loyal….it is a day by day and by all means…all I ask and pray for is that he is comfortable because I can say – he is happy old guy.
Thursday fun…and it is a color challenge this week! September is here (even though it still feels like summer) and when I hear "September" – I think of Back to School….Fall is around the corner….and I get SUPER excited to see leaves change their color!
I was doing the "happy dance" when this stamp set came out in June..WHY??? Well, it is beautiful and the detail work in the stamps is stunning and then when I saw that there were matching framelits….WOOT-WOOT – BUNDLE TIME!!!
Here is the palette that we are working with today and I hope that you can join the fun! Please pop over to the Pals Paper Art Website to see what the other designers came up with this week!
Let's get going….I have lots of pictures for you today and I am going to share with you some tips as when you look at this – it really is a simple card….(I think that I will do a video for you on this one as it is truly a fall festive card that was super fun to make!) This is just a regular A-2 size card…..good old = 4 1/4" X 5 1/2"~
Before we get to the tips…here you can see up close the bundle that I worked with today.
(The card I did yesterday, these framelits work with that stamp set that I used…Lighthearthed Leaves Stamp Set Yesterday I "fussy cut" the image but there is a framelit that I could have used…I wanted to show you how you can do either/or and it will work "just fine"!
After I stamped the tone on tone I gave each leaf a good workout with the bone folder – I went back and forth in all directions to make the paper as soft and subtle as possible. This is key to get a great look, you can see how the naturally curl up!
The scoring…SUPER FUN! I did the vertical one EVERY SCORE LINE and then I turned it and did it in that direction, EVERY OTHER!
The sweet bow is from "pulling" threads apart from the Burlap Ribbon…this is one of my favorite effects to do especially in the fall.
I simply cannot get enough of these "word sentiments" – "thanks" worked perfectly today but what I think makes it is…using the vanilla coaster board!
Lets get to the beloved envelope! How about this! I thought, what the heck – give it a whirl and it worked. I simply took a piece of scrap Old Olive and scored away and adhered it just like I would normally do for DSP! Fun…..right!?!?
Well…thoughts my friends? Would you like me to do a video on this card? I think that this is a fantastic fall card and you could have sooooo much fun with using different colors and different sentiments. Wouldn't this make a fantastic masculine Birthday Card!
Many thanks for all of the great comments yesterday! You all make me smile and wowzers – you all are LOVIN' the new catalog and I am going to be LOVIN' sending you your goddies. Thank you….I deeply appreciate your vote of confidence in me. I truly love what I do!
Please think of me today, I am going to the Doctors and I am sooooo hoping that I can get this immobilizer off and get going…it is getting a "tad" old!
Please remember to check out the weekly deals, the clearance rack and use the hostess code of YHNMUJNJ and I will be happy to send you your embossing folder with the qualifying order! Enjoyt he day…make someone smile and I will see you tomorrow!
Good Morning…..well….did you sleep? Did you have fun looking at the new catalog? My poor catalog looks like it has been through a war as it has been flipped through so many times….I guess I should say that it is well loved!
From the feedback I have had, you all love it and I do as well – soooooo many bundles (woot-woot, an instant 15% off – you can click here to see them in one spot, the new designer series papers are "off the charts", and one of my new favorites (truly must have) are the black and gray ink pads – they are fabulous!
Let's get to why you are here and let me explain the title for todays post. Sometimes we need to have a card that can be for many different uses….that's what I call a good old "multi purpose card"…WHY??? EASY = it is super clean and simple and can go for both masculine as well as feminine and all you have to do is change up the sentiments – PRESTO = DONE!
I needed to make a card for my children's God Father…and this is also a tough time of the year for him as next week will be a year that he lost his Dad so I wanted to make something that I could wish him Happy Birthday but at the same time be able to write him a heartfelt note letting him know I'm think of him.
The color of this card is the wonderful neutral, Sahara Sand….I thought that this would be a great pick to use with the mossy meadow and the liner from the Farmers Market Designer Series Paper.
The 2 stamp set that I used are both keepers, the Lightheart Leaves and Cottage Greetings (love both of them – very, very versatile choices).. I know that it is not recommended to use the Aqua painters with regular card-stock but if you "practice and get pretty slick at it" – you can make it work!
Now let's chat on 2 things!
You can see that I used (2) greens….have fun mixing up the colors when you watercolor – I ued Mossy Meadow and Old Olive and then Rich Razzleberry as the Blackberry was too darn…again, play and test as sometimes you need to tweak things!
Did you see where the sweet ribbon/treads came from…yep – so easy….just pull the treads from the 5/8" ribbon – works like a charm.
I had to do a bit of scored lines…you know I love to do that as I find it super effective. I "touched" on the new Black Ink….well it is fabulous (now I still have a love affair with the Memento) but this is a super rich, dark and leaves such a precise stamp…you can see the crispness on the card!
I say…."One Sweet and Clean Card"….what do you think? Because I wanted to have the envelope match, I used a piece of Sahara Sand with the Envelope Punch Board. I just love this piece of plastic – and it helped me also make the liner for the envelope from the Farmers Market Designer Series Paper.
Now we need to have some fun…..I said the other day that we need to play a game….and the game is called – "HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW SUSAN" I just love games!….Take the new catalog and see if you can pick out the 10 favorite things that you think I would just have to have.
On Friday I will share with you my picks and have a video for you…this should be fun – it will be super hard to narrow it to 10…but we will have fun…..(I'll give you a freebie of one of them – one of the products are in thispost) – remember, it is going to be hard for just 10 and it will include anything in the new catalog!
Since we all seem to be family and if you want to leave a comment with the picks – I know that we all would love to see how well you think that you know me and my style!
Thanks for sharing time with me today, remember the offerings of rewarding you with orders you place with me and this new catalog but please remember to use the hostess code of YHNMUJNJ for you to get the fun freebies from me!
You will love tomorrows card (I think) – and I hope to see you back!
