“Smile”…it’s the weekend!

IMG_5540

It’s Easter Weekend…yippee!!! Did this card do the trick?

When you popped on this morning did I make you SMILE!!!

I sure hope so…as I am smiling for many reasons! My youngest “peep” came home for the weekend…the other 2 could not make it but it is great to have at least one home!

I am smiling because of the FREE SHIPPING all next week – yippee!!! Click here to see yesterday’s post about it and it will also explain how you can win some Blog Candy from me

(look at the picture below – I would love for you to win it!)

IMG_5555

Let’s get to this card…I think it is super-duper cute! I usually do not use these colors but I was very pleased with the end result as it made me smile!

One thing I learned and I wanted to share it with you…This is from the Water Color Wonder Designer Series Paper…and I adore how Stampin’ Up! lists the colors of paper that coordinates with the paper pack – for this they suggested to use Tangerine Tango and I did not like that with this soft print. I think the Crisp Cantaloupe is a much better choice…what do you think?

True there are “bolder” prints in this paper pack that the Tangerine Tango would work…what  I am getting at it – try different things – you might find out that it works for you!

IMG_5544

  • The Base is Crisp Cantaloupe scored at 5 ½” and then the white is 3 7/8" X 5 1/8"  and the printed paper is 3 3/4" X 5" . POP this piece with Stampin Dimensionals.

  • The Flower is from the Secret Garden Stamp Set and then I used the matching framelits to cut it out!

  • The sentiment was stamped on a piece of white at 2 ½” X 1” and then matted just 1/8” larger! The sentiment is from one of my favorites…Happy Day Stamp Set (I will not be smiling if this stamp set goes bye-bye)

IMG_5541

  • This card is really so easy  – that you do not need me….I mono glued down the 2 flowers and then POPPED just the one! (grouping in odd numbers always is easy on your eyes)
  • Added details…I added 5 pearls to each flower and then I sis a quick stitch around the sentiment! Voila…done!
  • The envelope came to life with the Envelope Liner Framelit and of course the Big Shot! Two tools that we could not be without!

IMG_5546

This is a great card to make up and keep on hand….”just in case” – you could easily make it a Birthday Card…a thinking of you….an anniversary card….it’s the message that YOU write in the inside that will make it your personal touch of art!

Enjoy your day…make memories!!! I know it’s a Holiday tomorrow….but if you can – POP on by…it is mu husband’s Birthday and of course….EASTER!!! I think that you are going to like what I am making John!

IMG_5542

Until tomorrow!

“Easy-Peasy” with flair!

IMG_5521

Are you ready for the “shortest” post that I have probably ever done! Well…today it the day….BUT – I will say that you will be getting another post from me later today because Stampin’ Up! has something up their sleeve!

What is it???…I honestly do not know…

Later today Stampin’ Up! is going to reveal something fun that will only be for 5 days…that’s all I know but when I find out…you’ll be the 1st to know and guess what…

Blog Candy Time…WOOT-WOOT!!!

You love Blog Candy and love to give you the opportunity to win it! Heck – it’s Easter…and that means candy but your candy will be 10 handmade cards and envelops from me!!!

IMG_5528

Let’s go to the card…it’s going to be quick…but I think it is fun, clean, sophisticated and creates a WOW factor with a minimal amount of product!

  • The base is Strawberry Slush scored at 5 ½” making a vertical card!
  • The Crumb Cake is 3 ¾” X 5” and then the White is a “peek” larger….3 7/8” X 5 1/8”

IMG_5523

  • I must admit…I have not used the Pleasant Poppies Stamp a bunch and I thought – think out of that box and “just do it”!!! I inked it up using the White Craft Ink!

TIP ALERT: – You have heard me before blogging that I am not crazy about this ink…but for this I likes it as it gives good coverage….BUT…I stamped it before I went to bed and then finished my card when  was having coffee! (It does take some time to dry…you could use the heat tool…but a good nights sleep does the trick for me!)

  • The sentiment was all about using up scraps! We love our scraps! The sentiment is from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set !

IMG_5530

  • The only other thing is the envelope…the DSP is the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper and it was the perfect choice for this simple card! True…I used the Envelope Liner Framelit…but remember – I have lined envelopes from the start…well before this super tool!

That’s it…and I am making a wish….that each of you have a fabulous holiday weekend and that you can still find time to “squeak in” viewing my blogs….and hopefully win the blog candy of cards!

I hope you know how much I appreciate you and I am so grateful for the great comments you leave me! From my “Project Life” post…there were many that warmed my heart !

IMG_5531

The main thing to remember is….it IS important to leave a legacy behind…I ALWAYS did great clean and simple pages when scrapbooking but it WAS time consuming…I am excited to see how this whole system will work into my life! I am super excited!

You’ll hear from me later…hang on to your hats as I am equally excited…what do you think it will be????

Enjoy your coffee…enjoy this great card….and thanks for being YOU!

Until later…

p.s. -  I hope I make you laugh…well did you notice a difference in the pictures? well…after work I stopped a Jeanie's house and she did not answer the door….I had another meeting and was afraid that it would be dark when I returned home…..so I used her steps to take my pictures!!

I wish you would meet Jeanie – she would make you laugh…one that LOVES life!

A “keeper” of a card…

IMG_5194

Happy Tuesday to all! I am back and my time schedule is all off but I am ready to get to some inspiration for you this week!I am "over the moon" happy that you enjoyed the cards from the Spring Swap! I have enjoyed reading the comments as you all have been receiving cards!

This is a busy week for many with Easter being on Sunday…many children are off school…many of you are traveling and many of you are probably expecting company!

Do you remember last week I shared with you that John asked me to make a sympathy card for a client’s family and even though he loved it…he thought it was too feminine! I “get it” but I will say that it is a beautiful card!

My inspiration came from fellow PAL Windy Ellard and she used something similar in a totally different way! She used it as a Mothers Day Card and the base was a bold Primrose Petal Card Stock! I know that I have shared with you a ca-zillion times before but here you go again….(My wonderful Mom used to say… you can’t hear a good thing too many times!!!)

When you find a layout that works…go for it – it's your new friend for life!

Use it over and over again – simply change out the colors of paper…perhaps tweak the sizes of paper…change out the sentiment and PRESTO – another gorgeous creation from YOU!!!

This is one of those cards..a true keeper but what I adore about it is the amount of “white space” or should I say Very Vanilla! Let’s go…it feels great to be back blogging!

IMG_5199

• The base is Very Vanilla A-2 size and then I cut my mat piece at ¼” smaller = 5 ¼” X 4” • Using the Honey Comb Embossing Folder I ran it thru my main stampin’ man…Mr. Big Shot! Isn’t the effect wonderful!

• Cutting a piece of Very Vanilla to 3" X 3 3/4" and then using the Field Flowers Stamp Set, I Stamped the image letting the stem go off the bottom of the paper!

• In the picture you see below, you will see that I actually double stamped this! You can see in the picture of the stamp set that there are 2 flowers…always stamp the lighter color 1st and then the darker color with the other stamp! (I used pink pirouette and Primrose Petal) …also – ( I only did the 2 tone on the big flower – I do not think the smaller one needs to be done twice!!!)

IMG_5191

• Pulling out the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig…I stamped the sentiment that is from the Stamp Set Petite Pairs in Primrose Petal. This is a great Stamp Set that is often over- looked!

• Now you can mat this to the primrose petal that is a smidge bigger and I POPPED it up with Stampin' Dimensionals but before you adhere it down….

IMG_5203

• Here comes a little fun – take a small piece of Primrose Petal Ribbon and fold it over and then anchor it with a piece of sticky strip or even tape (you’ll never see it) and then tie a super simple bow with the natural tread from the gold bakers twine!

TIP ALERT: – How did I do that???….easy peasy..I really wish we had a vanilla bakers twine but you can do it…just simple “pull” the gold thread from the bakers twine and voila’ – DONE!

IMG_5198

  • The only thing left is old faithful lining the envelope! What would we have done without the envelope framelit liner? It is a totally keeper! The liner is from the In-Color Designer Series Paper Stack a simple “go-to” that always work!

IMG_5195

I hope that you can visualize how practical this card layout is! I will admit, I forget about using the embossing folders and my friend Jeanie always says …”Why not – they are the best bang for your buck”…and once again, she is right! Just think, for just $7.95 look at the WOW effect it gives this card!

Now I need your help…please give me some feedback as to how you like below the way I am listing the products used! All you need to do is click on the image and it will take you right to my on line store….but you will also be able to visualize the image larger!

You have heard me say how amazing Mary Fish’s PALS team is…well – a wonderful hubby of a PAL developed this and I am just amazed!!! It does save me a bunch of time but I welcome your feedback!

True there is a learning curve for me as I am like an "Old Horse" – I just keep doing things over and over as it works! I am "game" for learning new things but I appreciate your feedback!

IMG_5197

Today is the magical day that my husband can see the end of the Tax Road – yeah – April 15th….he has been working so hard for the past several months…I have something special up my sleeve to do with him after work on Wednesday! Let's hope for great weather and I think I can get the mission accomplished!

Please feel free to email me and please op back tomorrow as I have a super fun card that Jeanie and I took a class on – it looks hard….but it is easy-peasy!!! The best thing is that Jeanie figured it out to make it in an A-2 card for the Spring Swap!

I made it as an odd size….just like I like it – so until tomorrow!

Clean and Classic…

IMG_5342

I shared with you last week that I really loved the Modern Medley Designer Series Paper when it came out last year….to me it is so clean, classic. crisp…just WOW!!! It has been sitting out on my work area and I needed to whip up a card in a jif…so here you go!!!

The other inspiration for me was that the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch was also left out….you can clearly see the picture I am painting for you….my work area was a total mess – but isn't there a saying that creative people work better in a mess??? (Sounds good to me)

I have this very special elderly lady that always pops in my office to say hello…and the other day she brought me some flowers to brighten up my office – she says she feels sorry for me that I do not have a window! She is soooooo classic in her style..the way she dresses – always looking like a million bucks and she probably is 85 years old! I knew that she would adore this card and color scheme!

Let's go….this is going to be super quick today!

IMG_5336

A beautiful card does not have to take a bunch of time…

Remember…less is best sometimes!

  • Very Vanilla is the base for the day in the A-2 card size but scored at 5 1/2" to make a vertical card!
  • Strawberry Slush was the POP color for the day and that is just 1/4" smaller!

  • To the Tag we go! The key is to make the width a teeny-tiny smaller than 2" as it will not fit into the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch as well….and simply make the length whatever your heart desires!!!

TIP ALERT: Look close at the card….do you see that I matted it in black….easy -peasy…I just popped out 2 in black and adhered them just to "peak" out of the sides….and guess what – the best part is that theVery Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon "hides" the excess!!! WOOT-WOOT!!!!

IMG_5339

  • I'm getting ahead of myself….the tag was stamped with the beautiful must have, elegant…classic stamp set….Everything Eleanor! I just purchased this about 6 months ago and I keep saying why did I wait this long! Take a good look at all of the elements in this set…it is just wonderful!

TIP ALERT: I always use Black Staz On Ink when working with black…why???I just perfer the coverage! Remember that you have to use a Staz On Cleaner…but trust me…it's worth it!

  • Flower Power Time….I adore this stamp set….it comes as a bundle and I would definitely get it as a bundle as you will save an instant 15% …sooooo happy that Stampin' Up! is having more and more of these bundles! It is called the Petite Petals Bundle!  Popping the flowers up with Stampin' Dimensionals is all that is needed to make this card come to life!

  • Envelope time….because I just adore this paper and I think that it has a BIG statement with it's clean lines…I chose to just line the outer flap…you know me…I like to make the mailman smile!

IMG_5343

If there was a card contest…this is one that I would be proud to enter…it is clean, simple, classic, practical and timeless! All of these elements are what I love about card making! Do you remember last week I shared with you finding a "style" that reflects who you are?

To me, this card is a "Susan Card"….some might think that it is boring but I find it to be one of those "keeper" layouts that you can pull out time and time again….change up the colors and embellishments…..BAM – a totally different card!

I can honestly say that if I tried to do WOWZER cards everyday….try new techniques everyday….I would get frustrated and most likely resentful. That would not make me happy and in turn you would not be happy because I would probably not blog everyday like I do!

Doing what I do "works" for me and it is my goal to teach you how to make cards…how you can be confident and understand the "ins and outs of card making"….we all start somewhere and this is why I put a lot into my blog!

I thank you for your time….please email me if you have a question….and I invite you to consider becoming a Stampin' Up Demonstrator…trust me – you would never regret it!

Two years ago I was not a demonstrator and today I am in Tucson Arizona and I can honestly say that this is a blessing to be surrounded with an amazing group of positive and inspiring people!

Get ready for a parade of cards from the Swap I had…they went out in the mail yesterday so look for your mailman to be bringing you some fun! Enjoy the day and until tomorrow!

“Little bunny foo-foo….”

IMG_5303

There are times that I just have to admit….that I "tickle" myself….and this dear little bunny is one of them! Isn't he sooo darn tootin bunny cute!!! I hope that you run out to the store and buy these Lindt Chocolates…and they also come in "chicks" and "lambs"…don't worry – I will have other fun posts with them!

Before we get to this SIMPLE 3-D fun…I want to say a big thank you for popping by yesterday and I hope that you enjoyed all of the fun posts…so many great ideas…so much fun!

I did email those who asked for the cookie recipe…my computer was acting up so I apologize if I sent it to you twice! (please let me know if you did not receive it and requested it)

IMG_5299

Let's go….and boy do I have a bunch of pictures for you…this is so easy that you are not going to believe how easy it is!!! Naturally you can change up the colors and the colors of grass etc….let your imagination go wild – mixing up colors would be super cute!

  • The strip is Strawberry Slush cut at 2" X 11" (make is a teeny-tiny smaller than 2" so it will fit in the Scallop Toppers Punch better)
  • Score it at 4 1/2"….flip it around and score it at 4 1/2" on the other side – use the bone folder for a good crisp fold! Using the Designer Frames Textured Embossing Folders…place an end in as shown below…

IMG_5305

  • I told you this was easy-peasy…flip around the other side and run it through the big shot just like you did before!

IMG_5307

  • Next, take the Topper Scalloped Punch and POP each ends!

IMG_5308

  • The last thing before we get to fru-fruing it is to take the Ex Large Oval Punch and POP out the center!

IMG_5309

  • That is IT!!!! Now for the fun! Just put adhesive of your choice and "squish" up your easter grass and press it down firmly and then trim any excess that looks "unruly"

IMG_5302

  • Isn't he just adorable!!! I place several glue dots on the bottom of the bunny and gently pressed him down….and he was happy!

IMG_5299

  • The simple yet elegant Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon was the icing on the cake! I wish this ribbon would be out in ALL colors as I can actually tie a bow….another reason to do a WOOT-WOOT!

Here's a little side view of my friend….

IMG_5298

To me it's like have a floral centerpiece on the table…

you want it to look great at all angles!

I hope that this made you smile and I hope that you make some one smile and make them! These will be on my Easter table and I have also made some for co-workers as well as some for elderly people that could use some joy!

My dear John has a client that has suffered many strokes and he tries to go and visit him weekly  – John took him one! Mr. Johnston loved it and was smiling from ear to ear! Isn't it wonderful that simple things like this can bring us ultimate joy!

YOU popping by my blog brings me joy! Please email me if I can be of help! I love helping you reach your goals and I know that you have many options of being your demonstrator….but please know, if you need one – I'm here!

I love to help teach you to have the confidence that we all have….sometimes it just needs to be "un-leashed"…we all have talents…we all express ourselves in different ways….

YOU can do it….until tomorrow!

Monochromatic…elegant & simple!!!

IMG_5169

On Wednesday I shared with you with you that I was going to share with you another card we did for Breast Cancer…this was a "Jeanie" inspiration and even though we did not do a couple of steps (I'll explain later), it was a beautiful and easy card to make!

I just love monochromatic cards…I used to think they were boring…but now I think they are very classy! You can keep them very clean and simple and then add "just a smidge" of fun…(like the pearls) on this card…and really step it up!

Let's get to it…I hope that this gets CASED by you…this would be great to change the sentiment…..a Birthday…a simple "hello"….even a sympathy card.

  • IMG_5166The base is Crumb Cake but scored at the 5 1/2" mark to make a vertical card!

TIP: The next step you could easily skip but I like the look of the extra layer on the card and I also perfer that the inside of my card not to see the opposite side of the embossed image…..so your decision!

  • Cut a piece of Crumb Cake 1/4" smaller = 4" X 5 1/4" and then pulling out the Big Shot and using the Flower Garden Embossing Folder...run this through! (If you did not do this step…you would simple run the A-2 card through) – Now I ask you….for $7.95….how in the world would you be able to get something so beautiful….embossing folders are often overlooked…but they really can step up a project for a minimal cost!

  • Remember the Fresh Prints Paper Stack? Well…it's back! You can cut (3)…..YEP…..(3) strips of DSP at 1 1/2" X 5 1/4"….and when you go to line the envelope….simply cut one sheet in half and you can line (2) envelopes! This is another bargain at just $6.95 for 48 sheets….I say WOOT – WOOT!!!!
  • I matted this on a piece of Whisper White…(just a smidge wider) to give a little POP…..I like the effect but you could easily skip this!

IMG_5173

  • The simple sentiment of "Thinking of You" is from the Wetlands Stamp Set…wowzers – what a beautiful set….if you want a BIG WOW….google ideas using the Wetlands Stamp Set…..and you will be making LOTS of cards! I POPPED it out with the Oval Punch and then matted it with the Scalloped Oval Punch! A quick POP with Stampin' Vitamins…..Dimensionals is all that is needed!

  • Now to some fun stuff…look at the envelope!?!?! Jeanie is sooo darn tootin' smart! When we were getting the supplies ready for the volunteers to assemble….she said – take the big shot and let them emboss the envelopes! ( I looked at her like she had 3 heads)…and look – it looks fabulous!!!!
  • Look at the sweet pearls….don't they just add that special touch that makes it go WOW…..(we did not do this for the breast cancer cards as you would need to add extra postage because of the "bump" and I try to keep the cards to a regular stamp!!!)

  • IMG_5171I was worried that I would not be able to do my signature liner with the embossing but…

Have no fear…the liner is here!

IMG_5174

Well…what do you think!?!?! Two monochromatic cards in a week….totally different but totally fun! Try it!

I adore when you share with me your work….from my post yesterday, I had Marie from New York….email me and said she had to run downstairs to try it and she made a beautiful Birthday card!! It makes my heart happy!

I know that there are many times that it is hard to be a turtle and stick your neck out…..I highly encourage you to try something different…something out of your comfort zone….you'll not only be proud of yourself….but it will put a huge smile on your face as you DID IT!!!!

I am an email away and I want you to reach your goals!

Until tomorrow…..
