by Susan Itell | Nov 12, 2016 | Christmas, Simple Saturday |

It’s back….our weekend posts that you all seem to love and enjoy! To me, this framelit is the most unique framelit that Stampin’ Up! has ever made and I admit, it was NOT on my “A List” when the catalog first came out…but once I saw the potential and sheer FUN of it, I hit that “buy me button” and I am super happy that I did!
This is about as easy as it comes and I do hope that you will pop back tomorrow to see what I did to step it up! I think that you are going to like it!

You cannot go wrong with the classics, Real Red and White are as good as it gets! This card hits that “inner Santa” within up and a smile comes instantly!
I admit, I did NOT purchase this as a bundle and I keep 2nd guessing myself but I have not “caved in” as I thought that all I needed and would use were the framelits. Below you will see in the products that I used, I share with you both ways, the bundle and then just the framelits.

Here is a tip…after you cut dear old Santa out…flip it over and use the green glue and just “dot it” on and you will be good to go. Let it “set up” a bit so when you flip it over you will be able to have a clean and clear hold.
The sentiment is from the Oh, What Fun Photopolymer Set that is in the annual catalog, it is filed with great clean, fun and classic sentiments that will be a help to many Holiday projects!

I know that it is super hard to see…but I HEAT EMBOSSED the red. HOW???? After stamping it in the real red… (I used the stamp-a-ma-jig) I stamped it with versa mark and then sprinkled clear embossing folder and heat set it. Tomorrow I will share with you how you do not need to do this “double stamp” method, especially since it is a photopolymer set.

Let’s quickly chat about the envelope – I ADORE the DSP Stacks and this Real Rad is from the Brights Collection. I think that the patterns are “spot on” and also it is always a great “go to” when you need a quick accent and do not feel like searching for the perfect DSP.

I had a FABULOUS day yesterday and we hit a weekly low of just over 2 hours for lunch with Aunt Jean and my Dad – we went to this fun local dimer and had some good old fashion southern cookin’….collard greens and all! It was a great day and it was wonderful to see Hannah ride….she rocked it as it has been months since she has shown.
Today will be another fun day…lots of riding and I am scouting out super cute dogs to show you all on Monday! There are some cuties and today the BUS is coming….WHAT BUS???? The rescue that my dear and perfect Milo came from will be having a bus of dogs coming to Raleigh.
I highly encourage you to click here and see the wonderful work that these 2 amazing men have done and continue to do – placing over 9,000 dogs….AMAZING!!! When I saw Ron, he immediately said to me, Susan, how is Milo doing….I bet that it has been at lease 6 months since I have seen him and to me, it is wonderful that he has such a personal touch of loving and caring for his dogs.
I admit, there are (2) dogs that I have my eye on from the website….you know me, if my heart pitter-patters….I might have a friend riding home with me tomorrow! 😀  As my card says Oh, What fun!

Have a great day and I hope that you will pop back for tomorrows Step it up Sunday!

Good Morning! I loved your comments yesterday and YEP…I am in my glory – there is nothing like crisp and early mornings at the barn and taking in fresh air….playing with any dog that will talk to you….seeing beautiful horses and still being able to catch a special time with Aunt Jean (89 yrs. old) & my Dad is here (85 yrs. old)
We have been meeting for lunch ……but let me tell you – these 85+ year olds…they like L O N G lunches – yesterday was almost 3 hours!!!! It is always a fun time to be together but I was itchin’ to get back to the barn!
Please make sure that you read to the end of the post because I have another super special card that will touch your heartstrings.
One question I am asked a bunch, is it ok to CASE a card….here you go – YEP….it is.To me, this is a natural way to get creative ideas rockin’ and rollin’ when we are stumped and the way I also look at it – WHAT A HUGE COMPLIMENT!
Today’s card is a CASE from the below swap card from Carol in Ohio….do you remember I said, keep your eye on this card. The minute I saw it, I know that the layout was a keeper and I hope that I have shown you today that you can make it work for you.

You can see that the card is in the “same church….just a different pew” – I just loved it when I opened up the envelope and I liked it so much, I used it as my Shoebox Swap at World Card Making Day in Atlanta and it was a big hit! I encourage you to remember this layout and use it for a card….it is a keeper and by changing up the sentiment…you have a NEW card!

The sentiment was stamped on a piece of scrap paper and then cut out with an oval framelit. The “Susan dots” added that little extra touch to make it POP. I know that many of you are skeptical of doing this, here is a tip – JUST DO IT….do not over think it as you will drive yourself NUTS!
To me, something so simple, just works! Make it easy on yourself! 😀

Let’s have a chat about the picture below. Did you notice that I scored the leaves? I decided not to stamp them even though there is a stamp that matches is…I just wanted some fun texture for you!
Did you notice that I have added (2) different threads? I know that they are complete opposites but they work! I admit, this copper thread can be a frustrating thing to work with but I think that I have a tip for you!
I wrap it around my hand several times and then worked it off of my hand (keeping it in a circle) and then slapped it on the back of the leaves that already had fast fuse on it.
Trust me…if you stress about it, your will get frustrated and pull it off…..just stick it down and then play around to move the threads to give it a bit more movement. The linen thread – good old linen thread – always does the trick!

Now how about this envelope? Pretty, right!!!??? This DSP is just gorgeous, it has the copper thru it making it a fun and special paper!
I have no idea why this picture looks funny but I did use Very Vanilla for both the card and the envelope. (to me it looks wonky, I wish that you could see how I “scout out” places to take pictures!

Here is you 411 – Pin picture. I added the basic dimensions for you. I hope that this is a help and makes you smile! Now to a real smile maker…..next picture!

Now to something that I think will bring a big smile to your face. Well, if you follow my blog than you know that my hubby’s name is John and he is wonderful….simply wonderful and I can honestly say ~ it was the BEST blind date I was ever on!
I have been gone for what seems like forever, actually since October 26th and even though I have been having a great time filled with lots of adventures, I miss home, I miss John, I miss the dogs, I miss the other horses, I miss my bed.
Look what arrived yesterday…is this the sweetest or what! John made this card for me and when I called him he said….your craft room is lonely and I went upstairs and played!
I asked him if this was the 1st try….he said yes – I honestly am not sure of the stamps but I was all smiles! He said, hurry home….my stamps were getting dusty and my room is sad!

He is my biggest fan and he is so happy that I am here with Hannah right now…..heading home on Sunday and then WOW – back to reality and back to getting LOTS back in place! I am looking forward to putting my suitcase away!
Well I hope that you enjoyed today’s post….I love this card (BOTH of them) and I hope that you can go make someones day!
Until tomorrow…..SIMPLE SATURDAY….woot-woot!

I need to say….it feel great to be back with a blog post! I just ADORE this stamp set and I can see that many of you do as well! We have met Maurice before, Click Here….and here is his cousin….Mr. Marvin.
You all know a couple of things about me….I LOVE Square Cards….and I LOVE to Water-Color with the Aqua Painters…and did you notice something???? I am using Very Vanilla to color on! WHAT?????
YEP, it is doable! Naturally you need to be careful not to have too much water on the paper but once you get into the groove, you will see that it can be done! I shared this card at the retreat that I went to and everyone was soooooooo surprised that it was just our good old Very Vanilla.

Below is the image of the stamp set and I think that we all can agree…it is ADORABLE and guess what – it is one of the stamps that are on sale (25% off) through the end of the month. just $12.75 (that deserves a woot-woot) Please click here to see all of the offerings of the stamps that are on sale this month!

I worked super hard to create a bunch of posts before I left for my travels and when I made this card, the stitched framelits were not released yet…IF I did this card over, I would have used the stitched dies…that would have been a perfect accent but it also worked out well with using some simple scoring lines on the sides.
I hope that looking at the below picture will give you some inspiration to give water coloring a try. When I get home, I will do a video for you as I get asked a bunch about this. Remember, you can add color so…..start lighter and then add some highlights if needed. It CAN be doneand better yet – YOU CAN DO IT….I think that this is just one adorable card!

I wanted to point out that when I adhered the embossed piece, I used Fast Fuse. I would not recommend using green glue as with the bumps of the embossing folder, it doesn’t do the best job.
How do you like the look of the (2) squares? I think that it is a super fun and classic look. Look how easy yet it really makes a POP!

I realize that there are many of you that do not like to add additional postage for a square card, and “I get it” but I just love the look of my envelopes and I also think that there is something special about receiving an odd size card/envelope! I use the envelope punch board for that and it is the best bang for your buck….a great tool that does many things!

Below is your picture for you to PIN AWAY! I am going to try to add the dimensions to the specific card I am blogging about for the day. AS I said before, I did all of these before I left home so all I had was the ruler on the trimmer (so…I think that I have them accurate). Tomorrow I will stop at a store to get a ruler!
Remember, all you have to do is hover over the picture and you should be able to click and pin away! So easy!

Here is a little funny for you….yesterday John called me in the middle of the day and said….WOW – you are happy….what’s up? I smiled and laughed and said…you have no idea how great it is to be around Horse Poop!!!! 🙂Â
Being a a Horse Show…I am seeing all of my horse friends from the Barn in Virginia….I am seeing DOGS after DOGS and it is wonderful to be able to see Stanley go. Tom is showing him today and then Hannah will show on Friday and Saturday – I NEVER get tired of being around animals!
The other highlight for me is to be with Hannah, having an adult peep is great and we are having great “girl time” – it is super weird to have HER leave for work and I am behind…we are having a ball and I am in my glory being able to be at the show during the day! Life is great!
Have a fabulous day and I will see you back here tomorrow….I have a FABULOUS CARD that you can make for many, many occasions! Remember, jammie shopping is fun and on trend!!!!

by Susan Itell | Nov 9, 2016 | 3-D Projects, PALS Blog Hops, Uncategorized |

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for November 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes. This month our projects feature items that are considered 3D, Home Décor or Gift Sets. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.
You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below. The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.
I have a fun one for you today! This is a G R E A T (as Fred Flintstone would say) and this is one that would be super for a gift for just about anyone!!!!

I just love it when the PALS have a Blog Hop and I will say, this theme is FUN! I am still away so my supplies are very limited but I did bring this Framelit with me as I always have FUN making this sweet little popcorn box! I did not have the stamp set with me but I just made it work with the supplies I have with.

I will say, there are times that I do not purchase the bundle as I feel like I will only use 1 element of it (rarely happens) but this one is one that I WOULD purchase as a bundle. The (2) long vertical stamps are super for card making as they always add a special touch and I also love the little “squiggle”
The long vertical ones work perfectly if you want to stamp on the box…heat emboss etc. I adore the floral one when you stamp it with versamark and then just “let it dry” to give it a tone on tone or better yet, heat it with clear embossing powder.
When I am using a DSP like today, I always like to “back it up” with a Cardstock for stability. It is super easy to do as the lines are already scored for you and I use the green glue…let it “set up” – and then use then the bone folder to give it a super crease!

I truly believe that it is great to have a couple of 3-D in your stash as they really are super quick to make and they also are perfect for that “little something” to brightens someones day!
Today I used the Warmth and Cheer DSP Stack Paper but I also cut this die out with a piece of thick whisper white and then simply adhered them together….gave them a good scored and did the final adhering to the sides.
To layer these papers together I did use good old “green glue” but I used the tear -n tape to adhere the side as I wanted a good and super strong hold.

The FUN inside my Popcorn Box is a refill kit from the Paper Pumpkin from October. The refill is still available and it is just adorable. I truly do not think that you can go wrong with stocking up on them but remember, you need to be a Paper Pumpkin Subscriber to get the refill. The refill contains the below and have no worries about the Halloween images…you will definitely use them next year, they are adorable!
Remember, you can sign up for a Paper Pumpkin for just 1 month and be done if it is not for you (it is just $20 and than includes shipping). There is something special about the next kit ( I bet it is a holiday super cute one) and the cut off for getting it is tomorrow so I would hit that button below and get it for a month and then you would be able to order this refill!

With today’s fun…I used (3) test tubes = and this would allow you to make (8) gifts from an $8.00 refill (woot-woot) and I filled it with Hot Chocolate, crushed mints and mini marshmallows! Truly, the sky is the limit as well as you want it to be! (I tucked in a Starbucks gift card) so you can easily see that this is a great gift!

The ornament is from the Merriest Wishes Ornament Set and this is just a Holiday Classic and will never go out of style. (That means to me…it will never leave Randall Lane!!! 🙂 ) Not only are the Ornaments great…the sentiment of “Be Joyful” is just stunning, here is a card that I did with it and I just adore it.

I know.,…I know ~ that many of you are skeptical about 3-D projects….but trust me, they are FUN! I encourage you to look at your stash and see what you have that can make great gifts! This IS one that will do so…..
Now you need to go HOPPING and how fitting is that Mary Fish is TOP of the list…as she deserves it – just coming back from my fun trip and not only was Mary #1 in the USA…..but she was #1 in the WORLD!!!! It was a great time…and one that she sooooooo deserves! Have FUN and I will see you tomorrow!
