Good Morning! Today's card is to comfort a dear friend who lost her friend…or shall I say – a family member, Mac. My heart aches for her as her little buddy was her companion and for all of us out there – you know exactly what I am talking about.
Hopefully this sweet and simple card will bring come comfort to Deb. It is always soooo darn hard to find the right words to say but I truly believe that these fur babies come into our lives to help teach us…..trust me, we have had many, many dogs and have (6) now but I can say that each one has their own personality, their own special way to communicate to you….there own special way to make you mad and to make you laugh!
The card is an odd size and I am embarrassed to say that I do not have the exact measurements for you as I have already sent it to her and I forgot to jot them down. I can tell you that it is longer than a normal card and shorter in height.
I wanted to use Very Vanilla as I thought the softness was appropriate and then went to my handy dandy swatch books and the perfect compliment was Sweet Li'l Things DSP. This print is super fun as it has many colors in it but today I chose to pull out the Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla and Tangelo Twist.
No dimensionals today…I used the framelits to cut the designer series paper and then used (2) of the framelits to make the frame and snuggled it in along with the Very Vanilla. It seemed weird not to "lift" up layers and I must say, I kinda liked it just layered in flat!
We have a new framelit set coming out and you can see in in the below collage I put together, this worked perfectly for today's card and then that sweet little heart from the Owl Bulider Punch is the PERFECT accent !
The finale – the envelope was easy to make with the Envelope Punch Board. I usually trim off the long flaps that are created with a long and skinny card but today I kept it big to really "play up" the print on the Designer Series Paper along with a solid piece of card-stock.
It's hard to make cards like this but at the same time it is nice to know that we have choices within our Stampin' Up! products to make them. I should have made 2 of these (and I usually always do that) so I will have to reproduce it to keep on hand….just in case.
I hope that this shows you to go looking here, there and everywhere within our product line to pull together a card. I needed this in a jif and it worked! Enjoy the day, feel free to email me and until tomorrow!
I adore this sentiment because it is so true and something that I feel we all need to embrace with life…
The SKY'S the LIMIT
This wonderful sentiment is from the Over the Rainbow Stamp Set and you can see below in the picture – it's a keeper…it is fun….it is super unique…and it covers so many different cards to be made!
On yesterdays post I shared with you how to make these FUN poppers and I was "pulling it together" with a FUN card for Hannah. I knew that I wanted to make her a special card and I think that this "nails it" to wish her the best for her last year at College!
Before we get to this fun card, I want to say a big "thank you"for the many comments and emails I received about taking that plunge with a video. I means so much as I have really been a turtle with my head in and it truly encouraged me, thank you.
Let's get to this SIMPLE yet CLASSIC Card. It is an odd size, 4 1/2" X 6" – you know that I love my odd sizes and with the envelope pinch board – why not?!?! Does this look familiar to you? My dear Stampin' Friend Sharon sent me this card that I blogged about and I told you that I would CASE it…how in the world could I not as it is just fabulous!
I just LOVE the color combination today! The DSP is from the Schoolhouse Collection and it is sooooooo much more than for "school age children" – I think that this is a super classic print. and then the stripe – WOWZERS!
You can see that the "classics and basics" work….the Big Shot, Circle Framelits, great paper, Trimmer, Simply Scored and of course, Stampin' Dimensionals….I REST MY CASE – you just cannot go wrong with having the basic tools as the basic will make you shine…..ALWAYS!
Let your imagination go wild with the different cards that you can make with this layout. I can easily see a Birthday card, a Holiday Card…it would be a SUPER Baseball card….always look at a card "that speaks toyou" tell you how you can store that in your wonderful brain and pull it out later!
Making an envelope for this odd size card was easy with the punch board but I just wanted to really make the envelope super fun with this bold prints!
The prints are 1/2" and the navy is 1/4" – Isn't this super fun? Just take your time when doing this and I do love the green glue. Now if this does not make you smile…..please tell me why?
I cannot wait to make this card using a holiday stamp…and of course I will share it with you – I was going to do my famous dots on the stamped part but I restrained and I am glad that I did – it would have been too much!

Yippee-Skippee…. it’s a new week and don’t forget that today is the last day for you to take advantage of the weekly deals. I am going to focus on the Envelope Punch Board, as it is sooooooo worth focusing on again!
We made it home late last night and I had several emails that “I lost you”on the explanation of the how to make the envelope liner for the square envelope….at the very end of this post I will add the specific measurements for you and then I promise the next video I do is going to be about envelopes!!!
How about the title today…..NO STAMPS NEEDED! – That is because we are going to be focusing on how the envelope punch board with make you some FUN and ADORABLE POPPERS from a 6” X 6” piece of paper!
The 1st reason I say WOOT-WOOT is that our paper stacks are 6” X 6” and I know that many of you scratch your head as what to do with the papers in the stack that are either not your favorite or simply what to do with DSP that seems to GROW and GROW with your obsession!
Again, no falling off your chair….I have a video for you! Enjoy going to the movies with me and then please do not hesitate to email me if you need help and/or feel free to leave me a comment!
Hopefully the video helps but here is some “SCOOP” for you that you can print off!
For the Popper:
With a 6” X 6” piece of paper, cut it at 4 ½”
With the scoring board and the short side at the top, score at 1”,2”,3” &4”
Fold on score lines (I would also use the bone folder)
Pull out your must have Envelope Punch Board and line up (using the long 6” side) and put the edge at 1” mark…PUNCH – then flip the paper over and place that back at the 1” mark and PUNCH.
Fold down to the next score line and do the same….go to 1” PUNCH – FLIP – Punch and do it again until you have completed all folds.
Using a piece of Tear and Tape, place it of the ½” piece in the middle – fold over to seal.
Use a glue dot on each end to secure.
Pinch in the sides and tie a piece of ribbon!
To make the Belly Band:
Take a piece of scrap paper 2” X 4 ¾” and score with the Stampin’ Trimmer just a “smidge” larger than 1” (but not to the 1 1/8” mark)….do this on every inch!
Take the scored piece and using the Simply Scored, score at 1/8” on each side twice….(you’ll end up with (2) vertical lines on each side.
Place a small piece of Tear and Tape on the ¾” piece and then wrap around the adore POPPER…..stand back and SMILE –
YOU DID IT and I JUST KNOW YOU ARE SMILING!
Now let me share some exact measurements for you to make sense out of yesterdays post on how to make the simple liner for the square envelope!
Using the measurements that are on the punch board to make the envelope to fit a 4 ½” card….go to town and make the envelope – SMILE again because it really is easy….right!?!?!
Take a ruler from the point (at the top of the envelope flap) to the side (of where the flap folds down) and remember that measurement = it is 3 3/4"
Take off ¼” from the measurement that you are remembering and cut a square = 3 1/2". Easy right….
Take this square and take it to the envelope punch board and go 1/8” smaller than your square size = 3 3/8" …..PUNCH….
FLIP OVER the square and place it right back to the same measurement = 3 3/8" ….PUNCH and you are DONE!
Place adhesive and SMILE!
Again, I will do the next video on envelopes, as you know that I like my envelopes as much as I do making cards!
Please pop back tomorrow; as you will see something super cute that is going to go with the POPPER that you saw a sneak peek on in the video! Enjoy the day, feel free to email me and many thanks for POPPING in!
Good Morning…..hopefully we can have a cup of coffee together while we look at the Stepped Up version of yesterdays card. I am so glad that you all enjoy these 2 day posts that I do on Saturday and Sunday’s. Please click here to see yesterday’s post.
I know that it is super obvious that I added the flowers…those darn itty bitty accent punches get “worked out” sooooo much – just love how that little touch adds a pop of fun.
(click on the image to make it much larger)
Here is the main difference of the card today and it is super easy.
The base of the card is a 4 ½” square of Bermuda Bay
The white card is a 4 ¼” card and then I added another layer (that is what we stamp on) …this is a 4” square.
Now before you say what I know many of you are saying…this just uses so much paper!?!? Yep, it does BUT when you hold it in your hand…the layers of paper make it go to a quick WOW!
I adore paper and truly paper is not the expensive part to this fun that we have (some make call it an addiction….and if so than this is the best addiction one could ever have)
Think about it…you are using 1 sheet of White Paper (22 cents for a sheet and if you are using the Thick White Card Stock 29 cents per sheet…and the Bermuda Bay is 7 cents!
I am now using the Thick Card Stock for all of the bases of my cards, you can use the lightweight for the stampin’ part as the whites match perfectly! To me it makes a HUGE difference and I sure hope that Stampin’ Up! comes out with this weight of paper in the Very Vanilla.
The card is the exact same size as yesterday’s card and the envelope punch board was my friend again…amazing that this is just $15.00 today and you can see that having a pool party envelope makes it special even before you open the envelope to see the card!
I just love my envelopes! To me they are well worth the effort. It’s like I always have a better day when my bed is nice and made and the pillows are JUST RIGHT….(We have a ton of decorative pillows on our bed and John always says…are these really necessary….YEP!
Now lets talk about how I lined the envelope on the inside with the fun print….easy and it is 3 words…ENVELOPE PUNCH BOARD!
I will do my best to walk you through it and one day I am going to do a video all about envelopes!!!! I learned this from my wonderful Upline Mary Fish….she is simply the best and she has a love of envelopes as well!
After you have made your envelope with the Envelope Punch Board (for a 4 ½” card) follow the below steps…hang on – it is really easy!
Take a ruler and measure from the pointy part of the envelope flap to the edge of the flap where it folds over.
Subtract ¼” from that measurement and cut a square. (Isn’t it AMAZING how little paper you will use)
Take this square to the Envelope Punch Board and move it to the right 1/8” smaller than your square.
Push the “speech bubble”…pull it away and FLIP if over to the other side and place it right back and PUSH….
YOU ARE DONE…adhere to the inside of your envelope and SMILE!
Wasn’t that super easy. Please feel free to email me if you have and questions but it really is easy!
You can clearly see that you cannot go wrong with either card. Both of these stamp sets are super ones and it is fun to look at what you have to work with and see how you can incorporate different stamps together to get a great end result!
Enjoy your day and I cannot wait to share with you tomorrow another way to use the Envelope Punch Board! Until tomorrow!
