Step It Up Sunday!

Stampin' Up! Fall Card, Totally Trees Photopolymer, Cottage Greetings,Burlap Ribbon,Susan Itell - simplestampin

Here you go, I stepped up version from yesterdays card. I still used all of the same products but today I added the burlap ribbon. I know that some of us find it hard to use DSP as a focal part to a card (especially when you really like it as we treat it like gold) but I hope that you can see that it makes a HUGE POP!

This fun new Fall Stamp Set is versatile and it is fun to play with color. Both cards are great but when you see them side by side you can clearly see that adding the POP of DSP makes a statement and also coloring the leaves adds instant depth.

Here is a tip when working with Burlap ribbon and wanting to keep it straight. I use fast fuse all of the time and I anchored the ribbon to the back of the olive strip BUT THEN also add glue dots  under the part of the stamped part. This ribbon has a tendency to “wiggle” and this helps keep it nice and straight.

You can see that I scored on the sides of the stamped part, just 1 notch in but just that simple touch adds! As you can see, I love paper…and I think that layering paper adds so much interest and many times you are using scraps…so it is a win-win!

We all know that Fall is full of many colors. I was happy that this turned out the way it did. Below you will see some tips and tricks that made this tree come to fall bloom. Remember, nature has many colors….no two cards will be the same so just have fun playing!

That simple little stamp of grass is going to be handy for many different cards we will make. It is super easy to use and I love the fact that it is “short in size” as that makes it easy to and to add shading etc….

Simple Saturday!!!

Stampin' Up!,Totally Trees Photopolymer Stamp,Cottage Cottage Stamp,Simply Scored, Stampin' Up! Fall Card,Susan Itell - simplestampin

Happy Holiday Weekend and before we get to the Simple Saturday Card…I hope and pray for all of those that have been affected by the terrible storm hitting Florida and coming up the East Coast. Wow – it seems like more and more we hear about natural disasters and it is just devastating. Be safe!

Years ago, there was a stamp set that Stampin’ Up had called “Totally Trees” (I think that it was before I became a SUD) and I loved it….actually I still have it as there was just something about that “hit me – loved the simplicity of it!

When this Holiday Catalog came out, the stamp set that I am using today reminded me of it – this is called Totally Trees and it is a fun, fresh and can be very modern version of the above mentioned stamp set!

Stampin' Up! Totally Trees Photopolymer, Susan Itell - simplestampin

Now come on…do you agree that this is a super simple card? Pop back tomorrow to see it stepped up a bit and then I will also share with you the dimensions for you to make this yourself! I think that this layout would be a great card to make up and leave the sentiment off….then when you need a card in a jig – pull a stamp out and go for it!

The sentiment is from Cottage Greeting…and you all know that I adore this set and if you do not have it…this is simple….it is just 3 words…

YOU NEED IT!

The sentiments are super and clean…the little stamps  are “perfect” to add here and there, I just love this one and when in doubt – pull this out!

Because this is a photopolymer stamp….SUPER EASY to stamp…just see through and stamp away! Today I used the Soft Suede for the Tree and then Old Olive for the leaves!

I hope that you enjoyed this little bit of fall fun and I “Hope that your day is wonderful”. Here is an update on my friends son – he is doing FANTASTIC…I am so proud of him and his bravery is amazing. He is determined to get home as soon as possible and the best thing is his Mom is a nurse/physical therapist so she will be not only the BEST MOM (and she is) but also THE BEST THERAPIST for him!

I hope that if you are traveling this weekend, please be safe. We are at the best place in the world….HOME! Hannah is coming home so I am super excited to see her….and off to the barn we will go~ no matter how tired she is, she is never too tired to go ride!

See you tomorrow and get ready for another sweet card!

“Giving Thanks” is always GREAT!

Stampin' Up! Thoughtful Branches Limited Editions Bundle, Suite Sayings Stamp Set, Susan Itell - simplestampin

Wow….sometimes it is hard to put into words…but I am happy….super happy! It was a GREAT weekend and I will share with you later this week some highlights of it and I am sure if you are an animal lover, you will “get it”, you will smile! 🙂

It has been HOT…really , really HOT – and when it is HOT – I am miserable! (and sometimes grumpy)

Heat and humidity are not friends of mine and I make no bones about it and please continue to follow this week as I have a funny for you that only YOU ALL will appreciate!

Now let’s get to this card….I am doing the “happy dance” over it as it is sweet….super sweet and one that I know that YOU can make and one that YOU will be so proud of!

Stampin' Up! Fall Card using the Suite Sayings Stamp Set,Petals & Paisleys DSP, Thoughtful Branches Bundle, Susan Itell - simplestampin

I was DETERMINED to work with (3) elements today ~

Thoughtful Branches-Collage-e1467734922290

  • Petal & Paisleys Specialty DSP *** (NEW HOLIDAY CATALOG)*** A new a fresh DSP that is just fabulous 😉
  • Suite Seasons Stamp Set *** (NEW HOLIDAY CATALOG)*** ~ WOOT-WOOT, you can see that this is going to be a keeper…another great sentiment set!

Suite Seasons, Holiday Catalog 2016

I am very excited for the Holiday Catalog and no worries…..September 1st will be here before you know it (heck it is already the 15th) and because of the heat – I am thinking of FALL…beautiful FALL with cooler temperatures and changing leaves! BY FAR, my favorite season of the year!

Clean & Simple Stampin' Up! Card using the Thoughtful Branches Bundle, Suite Seasons Stamp Set, Susan Itell- simplestampin

I knew that I wanted to use the leaves from the Thoughtful Branches as I love the detail on the leaves and the ease of making them as we have a framelit to match! I chose my color palette right from the DSP and yep – I used my swatch book that I made to help (click here to see the swatch book offerings, share #1 of the Product Share)

You can see that this is a very straight forward card (that’s the way I like it) I used a nice and wide strip of the DSP so the beautiful print could shine and then I masked off the stamp to get the (2) colors. You could easily stamp this in a solid color but sometimes I think it is worth the extra step/effort in doing (2) colors!

Stampin' Up! Suite Sayings Stamp Set, Thoughtful Branches Limited Edition Bundle, Susan Itell - simplestampin

Below is your 411, Directory Assistance Photo for you to PIN away for the future (just pin it right from the picture, can’t get any easier than that) The colors and the simplicity of this card is right up my alley…and of course the envelope is parked int he same alley!

Stampin Up! Suite Seasons Cards, Thoughtful Branches, Petals & Paisleys DSP, Susan Itell - simplestampin

I have a feeling….a STRONG feeling that both of these new products are going to be super popular! You all have LOVED the Thoughtful Branches Bundle and remember, it is just around for 2 more weeks and then BYE-BYE…..If I were you, I would click that button and get this – you will have a GREAT BUNDLE plus you will earn PAW PRINTS from me!

Please pop back tomorrow as it is a Tuesday Tip that will be making you do the “happy dance” – I sure have been since I have implemented this tip into my craft area!

IMG_0421

Today I am showing a Fall Card as not only is Fall my very favorite season of the year, but where I live in Maryland  we are starting to see the beauty of the changing of the leaves. Isn't it just spectacular to see the beauty of nature?

You might be surprised that I am using a color that you do not see a bunch. It is Always Artichoke and I am personally a fan of it. WHY? It will fool you as it looks great with many different colors…try it!

IMG_0427

This is a super easy card to make and also this would be a great card to make many of (I think that this might be my Thanksgiving Card). The star of the show is the fabulous Lighthearted Leaves Photopolymer Stamp Set and you know me and my sentiment die cuts ~ LOVE THEM…..FAST~EASY~DONE….that my motto and I am going to stick by it!

139712G

The always artichoke piece is ¼” smaller than the base and then I took it to the simply scored and scored it 1 notch in and then 2 notches it….as super fun and easy technique that carries a big punch!

IMG_0428

After I completed the scoring, I adhere this to the very vanilla before putting dimensionals on the vanilla piece.

I stamped the leaf on a scrap of Very Vanilla and then used the framelit to cut it out! While I had the framlit out, I went ahead and cut out (2) more leaves in the vanilla coaster board to give the leaf some lift!

Now for the FUN part…coloring – go back to your childhood and have FUN.

No rules, just pick some colors that you like and go to town! The markers that I used today are Cajun Craze, Old Olive and Hello Honey. It is both fun and relaxing to color and you will always end with a huge smile on your face!

IMG_0429

The soft and simple bow was made my simply pulling 3 strands of threads from the burlap ribbon and adhered with a glue dot. I think that this makes the sweetest bow as it is so natural and always lays great!

The sentiment is from the Seasonal Frame Thinlits Dies. A true keeper of keepers and along with the vanilla coaster board…you are good to go with a SUPER SIMPLE yet CLASSIC look! I did the same thing that I did with the leaf. cut one in the very vanilla and (2) in the coaster board. I use the "green glue" to adhere the layers!

139658G

I adore lined envelopes and today is no difference. Using the Regals Designer Series Paper Stack and the envelope liner framelit….love this look!

IMG_0430

This card is not only clean, crisp and classic….it is so much fun to make and super fun to change up the colors for a totally different look!

Thanks for all of your comments but now we need to get down to business….this super sweet 4 1/2" square card! You know me, it's hip to be square!

IMG_0242

When the Holiday Catalog came out, I instantly loved this stamp set as it is super basic. It is called Cheer All Year and it coordinates with the Season To Season Wreath Project Kit (I have not blogged about this yet, but I do have it to make for my Mother in Law) so naturally I will share it with you.

Why do I like this stamp set? Easy ~ it is super basic and super classic. It is great for cards, packaging/treats…a set that will be timeless for years to come!

139839G

The card size is a 4 1/2" card and then the smaller very vanilla is 4 1/4". Many times I pop up the layered piece with dimensionals but today I did not as I wanted the POP of the acorn get the "center stage" (I actually doubled up on the dimensionals)

The other thing that I wanted to showcase to you is the power of a bold DSP to make a statement. I know that many of you are scared of using a DSP but please give it try. (I have a confession, I have an AMAZING card to show you one day that was sent to me and it totally showcases DSP – you will LOVE IT)

IMG_0253

The DSP is from the GORGEOUS Farmers Market Collection and I simply cut that to a 4 1/4" square and then using the stampin' trimmer (you do have it…right???) put the points to points in the track to cut it in half and then you will use 1/2 of it on the card, the other 1/2 on the back of the envelope,

The leaves were fussy cut and that was SUPER easy as the lines are so clean and easy, same for the acorn. I used the color of Early Espresso for the NUT and then the TOP is with Soft Suede.I used glue dots for the leaves and then used crushed curry bakers twine to make a simple bow, adhered with a glue dot!

IMG_0252I was determined to use something that I have not used in a while, candy dots! These are little gems that I suggest that you have in all color palettes, "just in case" – they are sooooooo affordable ($6.00) and give a BIG Punch for such a little thing!

Because the dots were not even, type "A" kicked in for me – …I used a sliver of soft suede to distract your eye – it works….try it – no need to stress!

IMG_0254

FUN…SIMPLE…DONE – that's my motto and I stick by it! Thanks for popping in…thanks for you comments…thanks for being YOU! Pleas feel free to email me if you have any questions~

Finally….Fall is in the air!

IMG_1452

Well I personally hope that this title of today's post is true as Fall is my hands down favorite season of the year. It is a time of the year that the colors are at their best….crisp and cool mornings….ginger snap cookies, apple cider….I just love everything about this time of the year!

Today's card is Fall at its best! I hope that this also shows you that using a Designer series paper as a focal point works! We are always to fearful to use our paper in this fashion but it does make a statement. This paper is from the Farmers Market DSP collection and this is one classic paper. (I think it gets overlooked but the colors and art work is just fabulous)

IMG_1455

Now this is something that you do not hear from me often…both the the stamp sets that I used today come in bundles. They are Vintage Leaves and Among the Branches….You can click the images below in the scrolling store to see the details of each bundle but I would not recommend that you purchase the Among the Branches in the bundle. WHY?????

Easy = as the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is FREE from ME with any order this month of $75.00 +. This has been such a popular embossing folder and it is my pleasure to send it to you…remember to use the hostess code of YHNMUJNJ . You can click here to see the post that outlines the offering.

IMG_1454

The color of Cajun Craze is Fall all over, it looks great super with Hello Honey….Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and many more but this POPS the DSP! I admit, I do not use it as much in the other seasons….so I try to take advantage of it now!

IMG_1436

These leafs are just so detailed and beautiful. The matching framelits are a lifesaver and they curl so perfectly! Even once you put it in an envelope and then pull it out, they still have movement….(just work the fibers well with the bone folder)!

On the maple leaf I stamped it in Hello Honey and then took a sponge dauber with the Cajun Craze and lightly dap color over top and then stamped it. Love the effect it gives!

IMG_1457

Did you notice that I took a piece of vanilla to make a little banner with the little leaves? WHY? Honestly, I just wanted to cover it as this is meant to be a "card" – not something that I will give with a treat! (the Sentiment says….Autumn Wishes and tasty dishes)

IMG_1460

The finale, the envelope! I should ask you? Do you make your envelopes fun? I honestly can say that I do not have one card that leaves my house without something fun on the envelope….either lined or stamping on it….let me know if you do!

Where has this week gone? ZOOM….I have my head to the grindstone finishing up the product shares and SOTM kits….I will be away next week so I am trying to pull together a bunch before I leave!

Please remember to use the hostess code of YHNMUJNJ when you place an order! If your order is over $150.00 – you do not need to use it as you will get hostess benefits but please know that I will gladly mail you the fun goodies I have for you with the $50.00 and $75.00 threshold.

Please feel free to email me if I can be of help….tomorrow I will be turning the music up and getting a bunch done!

Thanks for stopping in and I hope to see you back tomorrow as it is something that YOU ARE GOING TO WANT TO "HOP ON" and then on Sunday, please come back and see how I changed it up!

Until tomorrow…
