by Susan Itell | Sep 20, 2015 | Fall Cards, Step it up Sunday! |

I am so glad that so many of you enjoyed yesterdays card and I hope that this card today makes you happy as well! Click here to see yesterdays post and then todays card is the "Stepped up version" Let me clarify, when I say stepped up, it might mean just adding some layers, changing colors up a bit, changing an orientation of the card etc…
You all seem to enjoy these post and my hopes are to show and teach you that there are many ways that you can make some changes that can softly change the feel of your card!
Before we get to the card, I need to say that I am doing the happy dance that my Mom's friend is filled with joy and I think it will work out…..I helped rescue a dog, a very special dog for her. At the end I will share the scoop! There are no words to say how happy my heart is.

I apologize for the icky pictures – it was super late when I took them and the lighting was not the best…sorry! I think that you can get the idea of the card and can image how luscious the fall colors together are! I just love Fall…..tomorrow the weather is going to be perfect for our party!

Here are the main differences of the 2 cards!
- I added the layered level, 4" X 5 1/4" and then I corner rounded the layer as well as the A-2 card base.
- For the banner, I ran it through the Big Shot with the Wood Grain embossing folder
- The Mossy Meadow Circle, I added leaves that are on the Cottage Greetings stamp set (I know, you can hardly see it int he pictures but trust me, it's cute!
- I pulled some threads from a piece of burlap ribbon and added a bow to the cute acorn.

This truly is a sweet card and a fast card to make. If you want to mass produce a card for fall themes, this would be one that I would do – change up the sentiments as you are a shining star –

Now to share with you what I have been up to. First – things like this just happen to me – this was TOTALLY NOT PLANNED or even on my RADAR SCREEN that this would happen!
Thursday I went to a Horse Show….my horses were not showing but I wanted to go and see my "horse friends" and cheer on their horses….at the shows we go to there are many special people, vendors and always a ton of fun!
One amazing organization was there, Danny and Rons Rescue. They are from Camden South Carolina and I urge you to look them up on google. These guys have the biggest hearts and have placed over 4,800 dogs. Simply amazing!

You know me….I went up to the bus as they drove in to see the dogs and help them if they needed it and I saw Milo…my heart knew that this was a special dog and boy was I right. I spent some time with him and immediately thought of Earlene.
She is 82 years old and amazing. Truly one beautiful person inside and out! She has lost her husband and also lost her daughter in January and I have known that she has wanted a companion.
I came home and called her son talk to him about it and he said, "Let's make this happen" – so back in the car I went on Friday and picked him up.

He spent the night with us on Friday and yesterday we made the introduction. I went over there 4 times yesterday just to make sure everything was going ok and it is really working out. He is an AMAZING little guy and definitely a companion dog.
He was shot in his leg and has a limp (Earlene likes that as she says she limps!) She walks outside with a walker so I wanted to make sure that she was able to handle him and the walker etc….and he was perfect – I could go on and on about my day but I am sure you are bored and I am pooped! Busy day for me tomorrow but please keep sending great thoughts that this pair is meant to be –
My JOY tank is so darn tootin' full!

Happy Weekend! My "joy" tank is on FULL and hopefully tomorrow I can share with you why? Please keep you fingers crossed that something wonderful will happen to a very, very special person in my life, my late Mom's dear friend…..I think that it is going to happen – you'll have to pop back to see!
I usually do not try to share with you a card that uses (3) different stamp sets…but to me all three of these are so basic, classic…totally timeless! They are Acorny Thank You, Vintage Leaves and Cottage Greetings.

The foundation of the card is both basic and classic but you can easily change up the sentiment to make it work for your needs!
You can see with the products below what I used and tomorrow I will share with you the recipe with the "stepped up version"

The overall card size is the good old A-2 Very Vanilla and the fun….you can see how quick and easy this is and then you can clearly see that with a change of sentiments…..you are good to go with many different cards!
I hope that you pop back tomorrow to see how I made some changes to make it…..step up – well just a bit!

Today our house is on overload – John is home (and oh so happy to be home) and we are getting ready to have his firm over (70+) for an afternoon of fun….games…swimming – a good old whiffle ball game….and great food – needless to say a busy and fun time!
My fingers and toes are crosses that I can share some JOY with you…..my heart is pitter pattering and I hope it happens….if not – we have a PLAN B~

Thursday fun…and it is a color challenge this week! September is here (even though it still feels like summer) and when I hear "September" – I think of Back to School….Fall is around the corner….and I get SUPER excited to see leaves change their color!
I was doing the "happy dance" when this stamp set came out in June..WHY??? Well, it is beautiful and the detail work in the stamps is stunning and then when I saw that there were matching framelits….WOOT-WOOT – BUNDLE TIME!!!
Here is the palette that we are working with today and I hope that you can join the fun! Please pop over to the Pals Paper Art Website to see what the other designers came up with this week!

Let's get going….I have lots of pictures for you today and I am going to share with you some tips as when you look at this – it really is a simple card….(I think that I will do a video for you on this one as it is truly a fall festive card that was super fun to make!) This is just a regular A-2 size card…..good old = 4 1/4" X 5 1/2"~
Before we get to the tips…here you can see up close the bundle that I worked with today.

(The card I did yesterday, these framelits work with that stamp set that I used…Lighthearthed Leaves Stamp Set Yesterday I "fussy cut" the image but there is a framelit that I could have used…I wanted to show you how you can do either/or and it will work "just fine"!

- After I stamped the tone on tone I gave each leaf a good workout with the bone folder – I went back and forth in all directions to make the paper as soft and subtle as possible. This is key to get a great look, you can see how the naturally curl up!
- The scoring…SUPER FUN! I did the vertical one EVERY SCORE LINE and then I turned it and did it in that direction, EVERY OTHER!

- The sweet bow is from "pulling" threads apart from the Burlap Ribbon…this is one of my favorite effects to do especially in the fall.
- I simply cannot get enough of these "word sentiments" – "thanks" worked perfectly today but what I think makes it is…using the vanilla coaster board!

- Lets get to the beloved envelope! How about this! I thought, what the heck – give it a whirl and it worked. I simply took a piece of scrap Old Olive and scored away and adhered it just like I would normally do for DSP! Fun…..right!?!?

Well…thoughts my friends? Would you like me to do a video on this card? I think that this is a fantastic fall card and you could have sooooo much fun with using different colors and different sentiments. Wouldn't this make a fantastic masculine Birthday Card!

Many thanks for all of the great comments yesterday! You all make me smile and wowzers – you all are LOVIN' the new catalog and I am going to be LOVIN' sending you your goddies. Thank you….I deeply appreciate your vote of confidence in me. I truly love what I do!
Please think of me today, I am going to the Doctors and I am sooooo hoping that I can get this immobilizer off and get going…it is getting a "tad" old!
Please remember to check out the weekly deals, the clearance rack and use the hostess code of YHNMUJNJ and I will be happy to send you your embossing folder with the qualifying order! Enjoyt he day…make someone smile and I will see you tomorrow!

by Susan Itell | Sep 2, 2015 | Birthday, Fall Cards, Super Easy |

Good Morning…..well….did you sleep? Did you have fun looking at the new catalog? My poor catalog looks like it has been through a war as it has been flipped through so many times….I guess I should say that it is well loved!
From the feedback I have had, you all love it and I do as well – soooooo many bundles (woot-woot, an instant 15% off – you can click here to see them in one spot, the new designer series papers are "off the charts", and one of my new favorites (truly must have) are the black and gray ink pads – they are fabulous!
Let's get to why you are here and let me explain the title for todays post. Sometimes we need to have a card that can be for many different uses….that's what I call a good old "multi purpose card"…WHY??? EASY = it is super clean and simple and can go for both masculine as well as feminine and all you have to do is change up the sentiments – PRESTO = DONE!
I needed to make a card for my children's God Father…and this is also a tough time of the year for him as next week will be a year that he lost his Dad so I wanted to make something that I could wish him Happy Birthday but at the same time be able to write him a heartfelt note letting him know I'm think of him.

The color of this card is the wonderful neutral, Sahara Sand….I thought that this would be a great pick to use with the mossy meadow and the liner from the Farmers Market Designer Series Paper.
The 2 stamp set that I used are both keepers, the Lightheart Leaves and Cottage Greetings (love both of them – very, very versatile choices).. I know that it is not recommended to use the Aqua painters with regular card-stock but if you "practice and get pretty slick at it" – you can make it work!

Now let's chat on 2 things!
- You can see that I used (2) greens….have fun mixing up the colors when you watercolor – I ued Mossy Meadow and Old Olive and then Rich Razzleberry as the Blackberry was too darn…again, play and test as sometimes you need to tweak things!
- Did you see where the sweet ribbon/treads came from…yep – so easy….just pull the treads from the 5/8" ribbon – works like a charm.

I had to do a bit of scored lines…you know I love to do that as I find it super effective. I "touched" on the new Black Ink….well it is fabulous (now I still have a love affair with the Memento) but this is a super rich, dark and leaves such a precise stamp…you can see the crispness on the card!

I say…."One Sweet and Clean Card"….what do you think? Because I wanted to have the envelope match, I used a piece of Sahara Sand with the Envelope Punch Board. I just love this piece of plastic – and it helped me also make the liner for the envelope from the Farmers Market Designer Series Paper.

Now we need to have some fun…..I said the other day that we need to play a game….and the game is called – "HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW SUSAN" I just love games!….Take the new catalog and see if you can pick out the 10 favorite things that you think I would just have to have.
On Friday I will share with you my picks and have a video for you…this should be fun – it will be super hard to narrow it to 10…but we will have fun…..(I'll give you a freebie of one of them – one of the products are in this post) – remember, it is going to be hard for just 10 and it will include anything in the new catalog!
Since we all seem to be family and if you want to leave a comment with the picks – I know that we all would love to see how well you think that you know me and my style!
Thanks for sharing time with me today, remember the offerings of rewarding you with orders you place with me and this new catalog but please remember to use the hostess code of YHNMUJNJ for you to get the fun freebies from me!
You will love tomorrows card (I think) – and I hope to see you back!

This is it…the week that we all have been anxiously waiting for – the NEW CATALOG LAUNCHES tomorrow! I know that you all are as excited as I am but before we get to that fun…today I decided to play with the Freshly Made Sketches as I loved the sketch!
Here you go…here is the sketch and here is my take! This stamp set is another great example of a versatile set that covers several holidays the best thing – it comes in a bundle = an instant 15% 0ff! It is the Happy Scenes stamp set and the "bundle" part is and AMAZING window framelit!!!

The over all size of the card is 5" X 7" and out came the watercoloring again! Remember….practice, practice and then do it again. I do highly recommend to use the watercolor paper especially when you are using the Aqua Painters as you have more of a tendency to have more moisture.
You can see in the "scrolling store" the colors that I used…again, it is a fun and relaxing way to make a card. (You will also see that I made a boo-boo in the scrolling store but just added another underneath – I have all of my posts ready for the week) – I did not realize it until I was double checking!
Built for Free Using: My Stampin BlogIsn't this a super sweet Halloween/fall image? It reminds my of snoopy – I wish there was a small snoopy sitting under the tree – would that be super cute!
The above picture you can see a good view of the Boho Chic Embossing folder – a perfect little bit of interest that I think compliments the fun designer series paper!
When you break this down, it is a super easy card and this is ONE FABULOUS SKETCH….these are the types that I say "bank it" for the future as it is a keeper!
After I was finished the card, I looked at it and thought something was needed…(see….sometimes this happens to me – all projects are "a work in progress"….so out came the Bakers Twine) and it worked! I kinda like the "sprigs"
Fun, simple = one great fall card that you could easily not stamp the Halloween Sentiment and have a fabulous fall card that I know anyone would love to receive!
Hope you like it…please do not be timid about watercoloring – I will need to do a video for you so you can see that it is not scary…..no MONSTERS will jump out!!!!
Get ready for tomorrow as remember, I do offer
PAW PRINT PROGRAM and here is the tracking sheet –
PAW PRINT rewards Tracking that will allow you to earn
FREE stamp sets from me and also tomorrow, to get this party rolling I will be offering a special goodies for sales at a specific price point….you will love it and I will love to sent it to you as my thanks!!! (I know that you will smile)
As always, thanks for your time….I love sharing part of the day with you, feel free to
email me if you have any questions….remember, I love what I do and I love helping you reach your goals!
p.s. – we are going to have FUN and PLAY A GAME….get ready to Play a game and on Friday I will share with you the results and a video of "HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW SUSAN" I just love games!

Guess what?
I am NUTS about you!
Yep, that is such an understatement as in a million years I would have never imagined being 50+…having the time of my life in doing something that I love…learning how to blog but still being tech challenge but that's ok…and having cyber friends from all over!
It simply does not get much better than that!
Here is another “sneak peek" of some goodies that are in the new catalog….that calendar is rolling so September 1st will be here before you know it!
You will be happy to know that this comes as a bundle (woot-woot, an instant 15% off) and having the punch is a time saver. I love the fact that the punch cuts out the "cap" as well as the "nut" so layering different textures and colors will be fun!
Several weeks ago I did a blog posting using the corrugated paper and not only did I love it ~ you did to. It seems to add an instant texture to your project and I love the feel of it embossed.

On Stamping School I saw a card being made with this paper and this embossing folder! What a fun effect and then using the sponge dauber on top is the icing on the cake!
The base of the Card is Early Espresso but I used the Soft Suede with the dauber to lightly go over the embossed trees to make it pop. I think using a shade lighter was key, as you want a subtle but effective look. The “key” is to have a very soft/light touch.
I was afraid that when I ran it through the Big Shot, (my main stampin’ man) it was going to squish the effect of the paper but it didn’t. It actually made is very soft, feeling like velvet.

The circle framelits were my help today (love those framelits that graduate in size). Being able to cut a ring out of the Early Espresso was a great way to add an extra spark to the card.
I simply added a small piece of the In the Woods DSP behind the circle (great way to use a minimal amount of DSP) and then adhered the adorable little acorn over it. The Bakers Twine bow is the simple touch needed….with the help of a glue dot!
Do you remember that our envelopes come in Crumb Cake? Well…yep, they do and I must admit that I have not used them lately!

Using the same DSP I cut that to a piece of 2” X 6” (this way if you were to mass produce a card and want your envelope to have some FUN, you will get 12 envelope backs form 1 sheet of paper!) – the old olive piece is ½” wide.
Tomorrow John and I are heading out to take Hannah back to college….she will be starting her Senior year and she is our “Red Caboose” I have a great 2 day post ready for you over the weekend.

Get ready to have a great weekend. It is hard to believe that summer is coming to an end. Where we live I started to see school buses already. Heck ~ I can remember that when I went to school it was after Labor Day….I hate to think that there are little peeps having to go back so soon!
Have a super-de-duper day and until tomorrow!
