Happy HUMP Day (Wednesday) and I am happy to continue the week of “practical posts” for you….for those last minute ideas! I know that these are ones that you have seen…ones that are super easy but I say – they are classics so why not show them again!

I was thinking when I was preparing for this post….there are always NEW people that hop on the fun train of paper-crafting! I ask you to remember when you started…how you felt when you learned something and this week of posts I hope are useful and helpful to you!

I love your feedback and I smile with each and every comment that you leave as I feel like “our community” of sheer fun is just soooo darn unique and I thank you for stopping in….sharing….ordering….please know that sharing handmade kindness matters – BIG TIME!

I have a TON of pictures for you…so I hope that they help and please do not hesitate to email me if you need further help. This post is about how to give a fun & festive way to give a check or cash….as we all know, tis’ the season!

Today Is all about that and also all about doing “surgery” on this single stamp….I blogged about it over the weekend and yep, I am guilty as charged – I have (2) of them ~ one for the single stamp that it is intended and then the other, SURGERY – as I cut it into 11 stamps!

Below you will see a parade of pictures but I know what you want…the dimensions – “I GET IT” and trust me. when I caught the stampin’ bug…..I was always sooo appreciative of dimensions!

Here you go! So simple, so easy to duplicate and yep…tomorrow I will show you another way to make a check/cash fun!

  • The base is a 7″ X 7″ square
  • Score at 1 1/4″ X 4 1 /4″
  • Punch a circle (whatever you have) in the middle before you adhere – see the picture below to find the middle
  • Use tear-n-tape for the edges
  • The belly band ~ 6 3/4″ X 1 1/4″ and then if you add an accent color like I did – that is 6 3/4″ X 1″.  (make sure that you do not make the belly band too tight ~ you need that “wiggle room”

I say…just have FUN with decorating with what you have! I know that YOU have a TON of stash….I say, USE WHAT YOU HAVE. My feeling is at this time of the year, we always get sooooooo stressed – just do what you can….and then be proud!

You can see that I have used this stamp to my advantage….I loved it soooooo much that it was easy to buy (2) of them and now that they are on sale…I say a BIG WOOT~ WOOT ~ how can you go wrong!?!?!?!

Embossing was fun…and I say ~ rewarding..as there is something magical about seeing the transformation of seeing a simple “powder” turn to sheer beauty! THIS IS the TECHNIQUE that always WOWS all!

Have a fabulous day and I hope to see you tomorrow have another version for a check/cash for you! I ask you….HOW ARE YOU DOING WITH THE HOLIDAY SHOPPING?

The calendar is rolling but I truly thing that we can only do what we can do….enjoy the journey…and do not stress yourself ~ I am super proud that as I have “grown in age” – I do not let the little stuff bother me!

Pals Blog Hop: Anything But a Card

2016badge-taupe

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for November 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month our projects feature items that are considered 3D, Home Décor or Gift Sets. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

I have a fun one for you today! This is a G R E A T (as Fred Flintstone would say) and this is one that would be super for a gift for just about anyone!!!!

I just love it when the PALS have a Blog Hop and I will say, this theme is FUN! I am still away so my supplies are very limited but I did bring this Framelit with me as I always have FUN making this sweet little popcorn box! I did not have the stamp set with me but I just made it work with the supplies I have with.

Ready to POP, Stampin' Up!

I will say, there are times that I do not purchase the bundle as I feel like I will only use 1 element of it (rarely happens) but this one is one that I WOULD purchase as a bundle. The (2) long vertical stamps are super for card making as they always add a special touch and I also love the little “squiggle”

The long vertical ones work perfectly if you want to stamp on the box…heat emboss etc. I adore the floral one when you stamp it with versamark and then just “let it dry” to give it a tone on tone or better yet, heat it with clear embossing powder.

When I am using a DSP like today, I always like to “back it up” with a Cardstock for stability. It is super easy to do as the lines are already scored for you and I use the green glue…let it “set up” – and then use then the bone folder to give it a super crease!

I truly believe that it is great to have a couple of 3-D in your stash as they really are super quick to make and they also are perfect for that “little something” to brightens someones day!

Today I used the Warmth and Cheer DSP Stack Paper but I also cut this die out with a piece of thick whisper white and then simply adhered them together….gave them a good scored and did the final adhering to the sides.

To layer these papers together I did use good old “green glue” but I used the tear -n tape to adhere the side as I wanted a good and super strong hold.

The FUN inside my Popcorn Box is a refill kit from the Paper Pumpkin from October. The refill is still available and it is just adorable. I truly do not think that you can go wrong with stocking up on them but remember, you need to be a Paper Pumpkin Subscriber to get the refill. The refill contains the below and have no worries about the Halloween images…you will definitely use them next year, they are adorable!

Remember, you can sign up for a Paper Pumpkin for just 1 month and be done if it is not for you (it is just $20 and than includes shipping). There is something special about the next kit ( I bet it is a holiday super cute one) and the cut off for getting it is tomorrow so I would hit that button below and get it for a month and then you would be able to order this refill!

With today’s fun…I used (3) test tubes = and this would allow you to make (8) gifts from an $8.00 refill (woot-woot) and I filled it with Hot Chocolate, crushed mints and mini marshmallows! Truly, the sky is the limit as well as you want it to be! (I tucked in a Starbucks gift card) so you can easily see that this is a great gift!

The ornament is from the Merriest Wishes Ornament Set and this is just a Holiday Classic and will never go out of style. (That means to me…it will never leave Randall Lane!!! 🙂 ) Not only are the Ornaments great…the sentiment of “Be Joyful” is just stunning, here is a card that I did with it and I just adore it.

I know.,…I know ~ that many of you are skeptical about 3-D projects….but trust me, they are FUN! I encourage you to look at your stash and see what you have that can make great gifts! This IS one that will do so…..

Now you need to go HOPPING and how fitting is that Mary Fish is TOP of the list…as she deserves it – just coming back from my fun trip and not only was Mary #1 in the USA…..but she was #1 in the WORLD!!!! It was a great time…and one that she sooooooo deserves! Have FUN and I will see you tomorrow!

It’s all about the package!

My Mom was the best. My Mom was wise. My Mom cared. My Mom taught me a bunch and one thing that she taught me and one thing that I love to do is make even the simplest of things look special….so the moral of the story is, packaging DOES make a difference.

I am feeling alike a 3-armed Wallpaper Hanger as I am getting ready to attend a Stampin’ Retreat with 25 others that I have never met! Talk about going out of the box…but I know that it will be a fun and educational time. (Trust me, I will blog all about it as I will be the BIGGEST sponge for you all) to report back to what I have learned!

I like to take a little goodie to those that are coming (and because I do not know a soul, I do not even think they know who I am or know about my blog) so I wanted to share with you my goodie. The main reason I am sharing this with you is because I encourage you to look at “dressing up you packaging”…even if it is something as simple as these chocolates!

stampin-up-halloween-treats-clear-tiny-boxes-susan-itell-2-simplestampin

Backing up…..I was coming home from a Horse Show and what did I pass on the Highway….a LINDT CHOCOLATE OUTLET!!! Naturally a girl needs to do what a girl needs to do and that was – GET OFF THE HIGHWAY and shop!

These little boxes were the PERFECT and oh so easy way to share (4) truffles with my “new 25 friends” (nothing like a good piece of chocolate to bribe someone) 😛

I am trying to do my best to continue to use up DSP that I buy and with Halloween right around the corner, I say….USE IT UP! I took a 2″ X 8″ piece of DSP and scored it at 2″ and then it fit perfectly in the little box. For the “Haunted House”, I was able to cut a 2″ square and I fit them in one by one….and wow – super cute!

The ribbon….yep, clearance rack and I say…when ribbon is on the clearance rack – HOP ON IT! I personally love this cotton ribbon for packaging/gift giving as it makes a beautiful presentation. (The Hello Honey is great for Fall and Thanksgiving)

stampin-up-halloween-treats-clear-tiny-boxes-susan-itell-4-simplestampin

Do you remember when they updated the clearance rack several weeks ago? – I hopped on it and I am thrilled that I bought this ribbon. I encourage you to sneak in there often to peek around, sometimes they add things and we all know what happens then….HIT THAT SHOP NOW BUTTON!

I know that my “new friends” are going to think that “I am sweet…. with my chocolates” and I am super excited to meet and learn. (I admit, the supply list that I need to bring is “foreign to me” but I am going to have a open attitude and grow….I just hope that I can keep up) I have learned, chocolate and stampin’ are like peanut butter and jelly!!!

stampin-up-halloween-treats-clear-tiny-boxes-susan-itell-3-simplestampin

I hope that this post has enlighten you to have some packaging goodies on your shelf…just in case. You will be sooooooo amazed at how often you reach for them when you look at something and say, how can I make this look special! Do you remember how I packaged my treats for the kids for Halloween? Please do not overlook the offerings we have.

I just LOVE to make simple things look pretty and I hope that this has shown you that YOU can do it….EASY-PEASY….It doesn’t have to be something super expensive to deserve pretty packaging…..

Speaking of super cute…..look at the Pumpkins that are on out Porch! I hope that this makes up  smile….you see…in it’s own way, a simple pumpkin with some “added love” made a difference! Keeping it simple…..

SINGLE stamps are SUPER!

stampin-up-halloween-ideas-halloween-treat-wood-single-stamp-susan-itell-simplestampin

Happy Monday…..sorry for the late start but I think that this quick post will make you see why I say….SINGLE stamps are SUPER! For those of you that have followed my blog for a while you know I love single stamps!

WHY? – Well….they usually carry a BIG PUNCH and they are affordable. Right off the bat, 2 stamps that are singles that have been retired but will always live on Randall Lane are Vivid Vases and the Watercolor “Thank You” (do you remember these keepers?)

Halloween is right around the corner but you still have time to order this stamp and make a super cute yet fun project like I am showcasing today! Let me shed some light as to the method of my madness (YIKES – when you hear it…..you will see why I needed something easy and fast) I made this super easy and just stamped it with one color, Pumpkin Pie!

Are you ready for this?!?!?!?! I am on a Board of Directors for a local Cemetery. My Dad is also on the board and he was very proud and honored when I accepted the position. This Thursday, the cemetery is having its 150th year celebration (and it is a big deal). It is going to be a wonderful event as we are also breaking ground for a new garden which will add so much to the history that is already there.

For probably the past 8 Wednesdays, I have had a meeting at 1:45 to go over details (John teases me on Wednesday mornings…..don’t forget your meeting) 🙂 The Governor is coming and is the key note speaker and drawing point. Right across the street is an Elementary School and the president of the Board thought that it would be a great idea to have some kids come and sing a song to open up the event!

We all agreed and it was fine with the principal. I said, I think that we need to have a little something for the kids as a that you (they are 4th graders) and I volunteered to do so . Last Wednesday at our meeting I asked, do we have a number of kids that are coming? – READY FOR THIS…..she looked at me with a cute face and said between 60 – 70.

I THOUGHT I WOULD FALL OFF MY CHAIR

Plan B needed to go into place and that is what this post is about! I still knew that I want to do something fun and festive that they would like but I needed to make it easy on me as YIKES – this many?

The moral of the story is….this was doable. I actually did them all last night while watching the debate! I am sharing this with you because if you participate in Treat or Treat in your neighborhood, or take treats in for a school party, or even take a big basket into your office to spread some unexpected Halloween FUN, these are fun to do and soooooooo affordable!

stampin-up-halloween-ideas-halloween-treat-wood-single-stamp-susan-itell-2-simplestampin

I did purchase the dot glassine bags when they were on clearance (love them – I think I bought them all up as they are perfect for BIG cookies) 🙂 but have no fear, we still sell glassine bags.

I was able to use up scraps of white paper to do the stamping…a quick fussy cut and onto a 2 3/4″ square – DONE!!!!! (you can get 12 black squares out of one sheet of paper) I used the envelope punch board end to round the corners (I think that is the best corner rounder we have)

In the bags I put a small snack size bag of pretzels and then a Rice Krispie Treat – this is a perfect “little something” and they will like it! It was super affordable all the way around and I am sure that there will be smiles! The quick and simple bow made the perfect finishing touch!

stampin-up-halloween-ideas-halloween-treat-wood-single-stamp-susan-itell-3-simplestampin

That’s it for today…I hope that I have shown you that making a difference does not have to be fussy, time consuming or expensive. It is all about the thought and I also am a HUGE believer about how it is presented – a fun and festive presentation always set the stage!

See you tomorrow….I have a Tuesday Tip for you that is an important one!
